2 weeks is worth a try, one week hasn’t been bad so far. If you think 24 hour matches are somehow going to help you win, you’re delusional. All that will hapkitten that you’ll burn through money faster since all your siege equipment and fortification upgrades will reset in a short amount of time. I abstained from the 24 hour WvW (as did MANY people I talked to) simply because as a time investment they also thought it was a waste to blow hard to come by gold on fortifications/siege that was going to disappear in a few hours.

The other thing is that you don’t actually lose anything for having another server with 100k more points than you. You just don’t get as many gathering/gold/exp/etc bonuses as they do. But you do get what you get, and you should WANT to hang onto those longer so you can farm/craft/level/etc faster. Longer matches only benefit you even if you very slowly earn points, at least you’ll have time to capitalize on the bonuses in a 2 week cycle rather than having them dissolve after a few hours or days.

That’s why I don’t join wars and I spend my free time playing games.
You should look up in a dictionary and check the difference between the two.

Your “war” is unfun for most of the people playing it. Your MMO is not the only one on the market. Not by a long shot. Try to guess what these two facts imply.

Also, good job on designing pvp “for casuals” like you told you were doing. I guess staying up at 4:00 AM and/or setting up intercontinental guild alliances is classified as “casual” by Anet employees.

Anyway, thanks for what is up to now the most honest explanation about the situation. At least now I know I can simply stop wasting my time with this.

You know that nothing happens when you lose, right? You constantly earn your rewards every time the timer flips. Holding more territory just makes it so you earn rewards faster. You are constantly in a state of winning. That’s about as casual as it gets.

There’s nothing really wrong with the system in my opinion. The two weaker servers are supposed to team up against the stronger server. It’s the game meta, but not enough people realize it yet. Flipping the match faster would still have you losing just as much, but in a faster time period. If they upped the point tally rate to keep up with the potential points during a round (thereby giving you the same bonuses but over 4 days instead of 2 weeks) you’d still lose just as bad every time.

Till weak servers realize they’re supposed to go after the guy with the biggest piece of the pie chart, they’re just going to keep shooting themselves in the foot and asking anet for “fixes”.

It’s a three way match because you’re supposed to team up against the strongest guy.

Rather than asking for changes that won’t do anything (as I said, you’ll lose just as badly, just in a shorter timespan). I suggest you learn the WvW meta and try and spread it to the rest of your server.

Switch to WvW instead of WvWvW

Dublin, maybe you should leave SBI and transfer to another server, then lead them to “take down the horrible SBI server”.

Nice to see an admission of the double teaming against HoD and the friendly pact SBI had between it and ET server.
You’ll probably get woeful abuse because of it now as it implicates many on SBI server for potentially exploitative abuse of the WvW mechanics in order to secure a win. Not many apart from myself and one or two others, have spoken out against this behavior by most on SBI server.
They already made a lot of Korean players quit the game because of the abuse they received for not following orders shouted at them by random people – not once even realizing they couldn’t speak/understand English very well, especially when SPAM SHOUTED at. I comforted a few and we continued our attack on Anzalia but for the most part I felt very sorry for them and what they had to endure.

I’m glad though that another person from SBI has openly admitted to double teaming against HoD. I would just like ArenaNet now to investigate and ban all these people who participated in same exploitative/cheating behavior.

I don’t think you realize it’s a three way to ENSURE that there’s double teaming. Weaker servers are meant to double team stronger servers till it’s no longer in their interest to do so. This mechanic is in place so that when one server starts controlling everything, the weaker servers still have a fighting chance. The unfortunate thing is people don’t realize this and instead just choose to moan and groan about server imbalances when one server takes over the entirety of all four maps.

Does it suck to get double teamed? Yes, it does, but at a certain point armistice is no longer the best course of action for the two servers and when they start fighting again, the third can retake their holdings.

Why is every thread like this just a bunch of people asking for more buffs, obviously not aiming for balance?

Well, I agree on toning down HB damage tho. Its getting rather annoying in WvW to play any squishy class and being forced to dodge whenever a warrior with greatsword appears.

Actually, a warrior with a hammer and a greatsword can pretty much:
1. Stun the target,
2. Jump to target
3. Pretty much kill the target before stun wears out.
4. Even if the target manages to escape, there are plenty of skills which can close the distance very quickly.
So yeah, that doesn’t sound OP at all.

And don’t say, that her opponents just sucked, they were stunned most of the time and then died. No stun removal = no chance.

Several people have said they want a HB rework, not just a buff to other stuff. Usually people are asking for buffs to mediocre abilities like banners. Right now people are mostly GS warriors not just because HB is such good burst, but also because most other things are fairly mediocre by comparison, not just to HB, but also to the burst of some of the other classes. If they brought burst down all around I’d completely be fine with that, but right now most of our abilities are like bringing a knife to a gunfight.

Also, showing beta footage as evidence of how OP warriors are doesn’t really help your case since most of those people just stood and took it.

WvW is supposed to go to two week cycles. Really that’s a good cycle to actually get a nice return on your defensive/offensive investments as well as actually reap the rewards on your benefits. If you reset all the servers then everyone else would get cheated simply because your opponents aren’t trying. If you only reset your current set of three, then you’d be back at their spawn camping them again within a day.

Range is always a better option in War. Why do you think we invented guns?

Of course by that logic, archers should have about a dozen shots, and firearms should require super long reloads between each shot. I admit that I do sometimes feel as though I just stand around a lot on my warrior in wvw. People don’t even need to focus me in any large battle, I just die if I enter the aoe no man’s land. Speccing to be a ranged warrior might be a kinda sorta option, but then why not just roll a ranger?

I’ve heard there’s a bug with the Quagans (sp?) that control the weather and that they’ll sometimes one shot your altar and apparently make the orb drop. It’s not an exploit if that is the case, it’s a bug. But that’s just hearsay.

Please stop putting JQ against HoD.

It is rather funny to see people that want to get carried, roll from server to server. SBI won, and we went from heavy pop to full, now we’re getting hurt by HoD and they’re full we’re back to heavy. I’ve even seen people declare how they’ll be a better player by going to HoD as though you get better by fighting easier opponents rather than tougher ones. I’m sure Mike Tyson honed his skills on kindergartners.

Really though, IMO we’re fine in the talent department, that’s why we roll over other servers during peak times (although I have had a queue and then gotten in and gotten the “way outnumbered” buff, so there may be an issue there), but of course what we’re lacking is the organization that HoD simply has over us right now. Personally I like the challenge. Personally I’ve been running around looking at where good treb points might be, and my guild leaders have been looking into creating larger alliances. There is something to be said when I step into a WvW and see only two guild tags making up the entire HoD team. I’m looking forward to the upcoming battles and now that we’re not on 24 hour rotations, I’m actually willing to purchase keep upgrades and siege equipment again.

Honestly anyone who thinks pistol-whip needs a nerf instantly lose credibility. The only way you can die to that is if you’re practically afk, not moving at all. It’s a very underwhelming skill in PvP and out-damaged by hundred blades in PvE.

Can you not move while pistolwhipping? It happens at the end of it’s cast, right?
