[Issue Fixed] Authorize email bug?

Not sure if I’m just an odd case, but after trying to come back to the game I found out that I had to authorize my account. Fine, no big deal.
So I went to my e-mail to find 23 Authority E-mails send by arenanet. 23! Whenever trying to follow one of these links I’d get the message:
“Failed. Something went wrong.” with no extra information on how to fix it.

I just kept trying and trying and suddenly 1 link worked. That said though, the devs might want to be aware that this is an issue.

Supporting the Game & Spending my money

Right, so this is something I’ve been going over in my head for a while now.
I’d like to support this game and I’d like to see it do well. As far as I know, the best way to do this is buying stuff from the ingame store. However…

So far I haven’t been a huge fan of the living story (don’t hate it, just didn’t keep my interest). And I fear that my money will simply go towards updates, which are cool, but not really my cup of tea.

Should I buy gems now, so that Anet has the money to invest in new stuff that I might like to see, or should I wait until Anet actually adds that sort of stuff so I can show my support for it?

How to get the mini candy corn golem?

brick.2708

So this is an odd question, seeing as I’ve already got it. But my friend is trying to get the Candy Corn Golem and he’s at 9/13 now. Meaning he’ll have to do a TON of Inqusition games to get 13/13

Is there another way to get up to 13/13 achievs? Thanks =)

Housing, Guild functions, RP, Story

I can kinda get it that someone would prefer that the dev team puts time into making dungeons and armor rather then stuff like House Building, but I wouldn’t mind if they acually did something completely diffrent. Up until now it’s all been new dungeons, new armor, new weapons. It’s like having steak every day. Sure, it’ll taste great the first few days, but after a while you hunger for a nice salad.

When I say that I’d like to see this game expand, I mean that I’d like to see it branch out. I’d like to see it become more of a world, rather then a formula driven arcade machine that updates every 2 weeks. When I think about expanding, I think about things like new professions (Fishing anyone? No? Still no one interested? Okay…), Player Housing, more social mini games like being able to play a special card game or something. Being able to go visit a place to learn about Lore. Being able to re-live Personal Story missions, and much more.

Death and destruction are all fine and dandy for a video game, but the reason why other MMO’s got so big, is because besides fighting, they also offered other things to keep people interested. If you can shift your interest from one thing to another, it means you don’t get bored of the same thing too quickly.

All that said, I do think there’s plenty of things Anet doesn’t need to support which was mentioned in the original post. Marrying doesn’t require any type of special additions to the game. You can just die your clothes black and your dress white, get some friends and boom. Good to go.

As for the player housing. I like some ideas and not sure about the others. Instead of having to bid on your piece of land, I wouldn’t mind you being able to pick whichever place you like. (Grass, Grass + Water, Forest, Snow, etc.) As for the houses themselves. Honestly, I wouldn’t mind simply being able to buy a house (Shack, House, Manor, Mansion) without anything in them. Allowing the players to decorate it. With the addition of Housing, you can also add a Craftsman profession which can make furniature and add more items to the ingame store.
I love the suggestion of being able to add a small farm to your house. Maybe like a Pumpkin patch blueprint which you can put down and harvest 1 or 2 pumpkins from every day. Kinda like those Candy Corn notes you get in your home instance.

Most of all I like Player Housing because it creates a point of rest during your gameplay. GW2 is very much: ACTION ACTION ACTION, LOOK HOW EPIC THIS IS! Allowing for very little points to catch your breath. Resulting in everything that’s suppose to be epic, becoming mundane. (No contrast between content).

And last, about Lion’s Arch being destroyed and having to rebuild. Not a bad idea. Sorta reminds me of the AQ event in Wow, where the army was heading into this new closed off Raid and all players could help out with the war efforts by handing in herbs, bandages, weapons, etc. Lower level players would of course get a smaller reward, but as long as that Supply counter kept going up, it felt as if you were really helping.

Anyways, I’m rambling. Just my 2 cents!

Hey there. So I deleted my (free) Gandalf hat from the store by accident. Now seeing as I didn’t pay any money for it, it’s not a big deal. The thing is, it’s still in my “Recent Purchases” list.

Is there a way to get my hat back? And if not, what will happen if I do this with a paid item from the store?
Surely it can be retreived somehow, right?

Hey all, so I came across this ad on a website which seems to show part of Tyria’s landmass, but it moves beyond the border of the ingame map and shows what lies to the east of the Fields of Ruin.

Could this be a new part of the Guild Wars map? Or is this old news?

Lunatic Inquisition "Mad King Commands"

So I’ve been playing a lot of the Lanatic Inquisition (which I missed last year) and I ‘LOVE’ it! Nothing more satisfying then stalking a Dev Ghost as my villager and then throwing torches at him while I taunt!

That said, I just got stunned by a triple: “Mad King Says…” What exactly is the use / risk of this? I always obey because I fear that if I don’t, I get slowed or something. Is there a penalty to it? And if so, isn’t a spamable stun too powerful?

That said, still love the game.

On the topic of breaking immersion. I’m someone who really values it, and constantly talk about it, even did several videos about the immersion in GW2. That said, having a pop up wouldn’t break the immersion anymore then the already constant pop ups on the side that show the living story, daily progress, zone events, etc.

You can have immersion if the UI blends in well in the world. That said, it’s getting close to 2:19 am here and I got work in the morning. I’d love to discuss this again at a later date. :P

I instead am more of a solo player who enjoys PvE and getting immersed. If I were to bring up ideas and thoughts about immersion, roleplay, character development, lore or simple no life changing game mechanics, I fear that my plea might go unheard under the avalance of demand for the before mentioned topics.

You aren’t alone. Well I’m not a roleplayer but I do like wandering around zones, doing whichever event I come across and learn about the lore. But game mechanic wise, if you really want to learn about the lore and the gist of what’s happening in each zone, you have to be extremely patient for events to trigger and some of them are pretty tedious…They aren’t hard, and it’s not that they take a while to complete, it’s that the event makes you do the same thing over and over again (if I managed to keep it up for 2 minutes and you didn’t implement an increase in difficulty, chances are, I’ll fall asleep while trying to keep it for the next 3 minutes :p). And then of course there’s the reward for doing certain events that leaves you wondering why did you even bothered to do it. And I don’t mean necessarily mean monetary rewards : some events leave you wondering “what was the point ? I didn’t learn anything, it wasn’t something new and exciting and it changed nothing”.

Good point. Also, I don’t really RP either (I might sometimes toggle my walk though =P) That said, I still like to get immersed in my games.
Personally I’ve always said that I’d love to see a “Tome of Knowledge” kinda thing that was featured Warhammer Online. A book which would update you on lore whenever you interacted with it in the world.

For example:
You’ve reached the peak of Anvil Rock, besides a point of interest or a Vista, you might get a Journal update. In it, it describes the history behind Anvil rock.
You can even take it a step further. Let’s say Anvil Rock has a hidden jumping puzzle somewhere. Your first journal entry then simply reads: “This is Anvil Rock, bla bla, history of the, bla bla.” But after you’ve found and done the jumple puzzle, it will continue: “It appears as if there’s an ancient ruin or the Mursaat, buried deep within the mountain. Perhaps it’s been here for over eighthundred years when the Collossus still roamed.”

Same with animals.
You run into a Minotaur and kill it.
_ “I have killed a creature known as a Minotaur. Reknown for having the head of a bull, it can often be found in cold regions of the world.”_

Then after you’ve killed 10:
“After encountering the creatures several times, I’ve noticed a pattern in their behavior. They often travel in pacts, but the herd will ban their Omega’s to fend for themselves.”

Anyways, that’s a pipeline dream, and something that probably shouldn’t have been posted here. =P

Now ‘this’ is an interesting thread. I’ve been playing MMO’s for years now, and I’ve never seen the Devs get this close to the community. On one side I’m very pleased to see that the game is being made by human hands, rather than an all knowning computer who watches me while I sleep. But on the other side I can’t help but feel a little strange that my words might acually be listened to and concidered.

That said, I’d love to see a Community / Dev Team up thing happening. Maybe devs being invited to podcasts, or a Youtube discussion where 3 players and 3 devs take their standpoint on something and argue (respectfully) their cases.

I do have a question (which might not even fit here…) I read through this thread and saw a lot of: “Content only lasts for 2 weeks.”, “PvP & WvW needs more love.” and “Class balance” replies.
I instead am more of a solo player who enjoys PvE and getting immersed. If I were to bring up ideas and thoughts about immersion, roleplay, character development, lore or simple no life changing game mechanics, I fear that my plea might go unheard under the avalance of demand for the before mentioned topics.

Is Anet currently in a state where they are going to focus on the biggest issues at hand and try to resolve those first? (Which would be 100% fair) or is there a place for smaller aspects of the game to be improved on?

I still find this a very odd thread, but I am acually taking a liking to it. Not only do the Devs show that Anet is willing to listen, but I get a feeling that the Devs posting here, really are posting because there’s a passion driving them. Either to improve themselves as a person, or simply their love for the game.

The Living Story and Questing in GW2 (Video)

[Discussion]
So I made this video a while back, but forgot to share it with you guys.
Basicly I’d like to discuss the idea to somehow turn old content into missions and instead of boring you with a wall of text, I thought I’d do it in video format!

Let me know what you think. Agree? Disagree? Leave me a comment here or on my video. Love to read what you have to say! =)

[Video Format]:

[Discussion in text format]
For those who rather read then listen, I’ll be typing out a rough sketch of what I thought would be a good way to reintroduce old content released in the Living Story, without it getting in the way of new content.

Instead of throwing all that content out of the door, why not introduce new players to it via a questing system. Now like I said in the video, with “questing” I don’t mean your typical World of Warcraft approuch. Instead, wouldn’t it be fun to add a (example) barman to the game who talks about rumors in his tavern.
These rumors are then the kick off to old content that Anet has already released. That way you can either re-live the events, or experience them for the very first time if you’re new to the game.

[Example]:
“I’ve just reached level 5. I’ve done my personal story mission and I’ve done a few world events. Seeing that I have to gain another 5 levels before I can continue my personal story, I decide to explore for a bit. I come across a tavern in Divinity’s Reach and ask the barman for a drink and if he has heard any rumors.
The man shows you a list of available side story missions (living story). Seeing as you’re only level 5 that means right now you can only acces the Flame & Frost story. He tells you that someone named Rox is looking for a hand dealing with a situation with the dredge.
This has peaked your interest and you chose to follow up on the lead. It gets added to your Quest log and you set out to meet with Rox. This has now opened up the Flame & Frost living story missions for you to enjoy!”

I thought that this might be a efficient way to reintroduce older content to new players or to old players who are simple “remember” the events from back then.
Now don’t get me wrong. Some stuff ‘should’ be available for limited time only. Holiday events can come and go and even stuff like the Bazaar of the Four Winds might come to an end (the zone). However the acual story missions tied to these events could remain and be enjoyed by the community.

You’re probably sick and tired of hearing me talk though, so I’ll leave it at that! Again, let me know what your thoughts are on the subject and thanks for reading / listening.
