I’ve read a lot of comments on Dulfy saying there’s a Anet change coming to Gems to Gold ratios to be implemented before WvW season. Is this true? Couldn’t find any other articles about it. Wanted to make sure before I bought gems.
nvm found out they changed crit damage into ferocity lol
Wait is zerker P/Prec/Ferocity?
Dunno what to use since they took out zerker gear
Prices have skyrocketed since I last played. Any it seems like gold is less and less easy to get. Any tips on farming or what to do?
Im running the support build on the GW2 build site (pretty much P/V/T) and was wondering if Mace and Shield would be a good combo? Right now im running greatsword and scepterfocus
kitten I thought a 300$ GPU would max this game. Sigh.
I would have thought getting this awesome GPU would let me max the graphics for this game. THe auto detect sets me at medium graphics. Is this normal?

During those boring times of waiting for events or world bosses to start, it would be awesome to have dueling. Or even when, while “questing” with friends, you want to see whose got “dem skills.” I don’t want to go to some arena where they outfit you with premade gear. I want to fight where I am at the moment, with my current gear, with everyone around to watch (me lose haha).
For a game supposedly taking a giant leap forward, it takes one back without having dueling, a SIMPLE addition I might add.
His name was TYBALT LEFTPAW and not Tybalt Deathbringer
And Sieran was no pariah, she was just a very naive young sylvarian Magister at the Priory of Durmand, which also never had anything to do with Tybalt at all.
Both were completely separate characters, which didn’t know each other, as Tybalt Leftpaw came from the Order of Whispers. Both are just mentor character npcs’s whose destiny it is to die at the battle for claw island and nothing of the game’s lore says anything about that they will ever reappear as risen, when Anet didn’t even used the chance to make them reappear within the games personal storyline just before we slayed Zhaitan, where it would have had made the most sense, that Zhaitan lets us fight against our old comrades to try to demoralize our hero characters to fight against him further, what would have been good if the personal story would have given us only a chance to decide either to try to find out a way to rescue and save our mentors somehow, or to sacrifice the opportunity to deal against Zhaitan and his undead army a critical revengeful blow, that will forever destroy the chance to save our old comrades, because the item/thing whatever used for the saving of our mentors would get destroyed in that powerful act of revenge…Thats the point, where Anet just has to improve alot the general personal storyline of the game. The games personal story just feels way too shallow from the point on, where you have fought on the claw island against the hordes of undeads the very first time and lost there your mentor at the end… just to say the game becomes absolutely emotionless sadly
——Drop the part with Tybalt and Sieran and come up with your own characters and a less clicheful story of a lost lover that gets turned into a risen and becomes your enemy. surprisingly cough.. this is such an ancient stale way of storytelling and absolutely nothing original n’ interesting anymore.
That cleansing of the remnants of the undead army from Zhaitan is basically obviously something we will mostly likely see someday as a part of the living story.
It’s natural and understandable, because it would be the best thing anet could use as monthly patch that could be used as an introduction for the first incoming Add On (and don’t believe that it wasn’t obvious, what your intentions were, by introducing an enemy, like Jin the CANTHAN Butcher … oO)Half of Arah is still unexplorable and theres also all the sea between Tyria and Cantha full of undead ships, which need first to get destroyed in naval battles to liberate the path between those continents from the risen that are still there, even if Zhaitan is alread slayed, his Dragon Magic even in his dead body is so enormous, that the rest of the risen just don’t fall to dust instantly but still are a dangerous threat, that has to be dealt with by our heroic characters as a part of their living story for sure.
And I see that part as a much bigger more epic multi part living story to liberate the path to Cantha from the remnants of zhaitans undead army and not something, that should be done with just 1 monthly patch in a tiny story within a silly dungeon that is on land and has nothign really to do with the real threat that the leftovers of zhaitans army really are for Tyria all over the sea mostly and not on land, where a big amount of them has already be fought against within the personal story.
Ascended Armor and Weapons will surely also find sooner or later into the game, but surely not within a patch with such a story… I think, if – then only with a patch that won’t introduce anything living story related that gets implemented short before an Add On. and I absolutely don’t believe that we will see an Add On already this year. That would be way too fast, looking at GW2 and how many things Anet has to fix first about the current game that they basically have no time for working on an Add on for now.
There are too many things in this game, which need more attention first, than Add OnsJust my opinion
You’re correct, Tybalt’s name is Lightbringer Tybalt Leftpaw. I just changed it to Tybalt Deathbringer to suit his Risen form. As for Sieren, I know she was a Magister, but she wouldn’t be one in death. I gave her the title Pariah, as it means outcast. I haven’t added it in yet, but I was going to add a section for the new trash mobs and Pariahs would one of them.
And of course the story is cliche. I’m a medical scribe, not a writer. :P
Update: Added Ascended Armor drops and Rare Weapon Skins to bosses loot tables.
Thanks! I was going top add more but it won’t let me edit the post for some reason :/. I’ll try again later.
[Ascended Armor]
New ascended armor will drop from the Remnants of the Dead dungeon. Every boss has a chance at dropping a random piece of armor. For example, you might be playing a Bezerker build and a cleric ascended head piece can drop. This is introduced to add re-playability to the dungeon. But what if RNG keeps screwing you over and over? Well, each boss also drops a new dungeon currency as well [b]Cathedral Relics]. At the end of the dungeon, you may be able to trade the Relics to Pyri for gear with specific stats, at a set high price of course. Drop rates in the dungeon go as follows:
Trash Mobs:
– 0.1% to drop Ascended armor.
– 1% to drop Cathedral Relics.
Dungeon Bosses:
– 100% to drop a random Ascended armor piece
– 100% Cathedral Relics.
– 5% to drop Cathedral Relic stack.
Tybalt Deathbringer
– 100% to drop Cathedral Relics stack.
– 100% chance at random ascended gear.
– 10% chance at bonus random ascended gear.
Ascended Armor will have a dark fantasy look to it. Dragon Magic will influence how it looks, so tendrils and wisps of smoke emanate off their surface. Art design would reflect the Dark Cathedral, having a sort of “gothic era” look. I will upload concept art when I have a chance to use my office’s scanner (LOL).
[Weapon Skin Drops]
Every boss will have the chance to drop rare weapon skins as well.
Jin’s Cleaver: Crimson blood seems to drip endlessly from the blades tip.
– 0.1% drop from Jin, the Canthan Butcher
– This skin may be applied to any 1 handed weapon.
Lost Dreams: Black dragon magic emanate from this staff. If one were to listen closely, silent screams can be heard from the black crystal at the tip.
– 0.1% drop from Seiren.
– This skin may be applied to any 2 handed weapon.
Eternal Love: Although made from draconic stone, the item seems to release a faint warm glose. Words are etched on the hilt: “P&R Eternal and Forever.”
– 0.1% drop from Radulfr.
– This skin may be applied to any off hand, torch or shield.
The Abyss: A sword forged from the blades of the fallen. Wielded by Tybalt Deathbringer in life and death. Several apples hang from cords attached to the hilt.
– 0.1% drop from Tybalt Deathbringer.
– This skin may be applied to any 2 handed weapon.

Radulfr falls to his knees every 20% of health. A dragon totem appears in the middle of the room. Attacking it does significant damage.
Upon death, Radulfr falls silently to the ground dead. Pyri runs over to him and cradles him in her arms.
Pyri: “You killed him… No… we killed him. I should have protected you my love.”
Pyri sets the scepter on his chest and weeps. Pyri doesn’t accompany the party throughout the dungeon.
The party exits the garden and into the service room. Statues of the gods align the wall, along with paintings and burning incense. The male hooded figure can be seen kneeling at an altar. His robes are now gone, revealing it to be Tybalt Lightbringer, now Tybalt Deathbringer. The players must clear trash in the room before engaging Tybalt.
Tybalt Deathbringer: “Do you know what it’s like to die? Your heart races and then there’s pain, lots of pain, and then… nothing. But coming back, coming back and seeing the world through different eyes… I can never repay Zhaitan back for that gift.”
Tybalt turns around. His fur is matted to his bones. His face, most has been seared away with fire. Still, he manages to grin and opens his mouth to take a bite out of an apple.
“You’ve come to kill me then? Of course. Your races are all filled with destructive tendencies. COME!”
[BOSS FIGHT] Tybalt Deathbringer
[Apples to Apples] “Have an apple!”
Tybalt goes to the middle of the room and becomes invulnerable. For 10 seconds he lobs apples at random places on the map, their landing location visible by small red circles.
[Old Whispers] “Give me strength…”
All the Old God statues are replaced with Dragon Totems. Tybalt will go to one of them and begin praying for 10 seconds, allowing players to attack him. Afterward, he will gain a Dragon Buff. Scattered around the area are barrels of explosive apples. Throwing explosive apples at Tybalt will interrupt the prayer and not give him a Dragon Buff. Every stack of Dragon Buff increases damage done and damage taken by Tybalt.
[Old Habits Die Hard] “Risen to me!”
Risen Priests spawn and enter the room. Tybalt retreats to the middle of the room and begins to eat and apple to regain health and won’t stop until all adds are dead. The key is the gather up all adds and AoE dps them on Tybalt.
[Last Resort] “Come here!”
Tybalt takes one of the explosive apples and chases players, trying to shove it down their mouth. If he catches up to you, you immediately die. When he does this, other players can get apples instead use them on Tybalt.
At 5% health Tybalt knocks all players down with an explosion.
Tybalt Deathbringer: “Enough of this childsplay, it ends here!”
Pyri: “Shut up and bleed!”
Pyri attacks Tybalt and the fight continues until he’s dead. Upon death, a secret chamber opens up behind the alter, revealing a rewards chest.
Pyri: “Maybe he was right… what are we fighting for? If we win, we’ll go back to our old ways: Charr, humans, Norn… all of us fighting again. Maybe the world would be a better place if we were all gone. No, I can’t think like that. You should all leave this place. I’m going to have my men destroy this hell hole and… bury my husband. Take what you can carry. And heroes… thank you.”
[Trash Mobs]
[Ascended Armor]
[Weapon Skin Drops]
[NOTE] I will add more as I get to it. But for now, time to play some State of Decay.
(edited by carlvinmadarang.4130)
Our heroes enter through the hole in the wall, revealing a large chamber. Two figures look upon our heroes from the 2nd floor. Both are hooded, tendrils of shadow emanating from them.
[Dialgoue continues during combat. Groups of enemies are in the chamber. Dialogue plays while the party kills trash mobs]
Radulfr: “Ah so you must be the dynamic duo the Risen are all flocking to.”
Pyri: “Your corruption ends here monsters!”
Hooded Male: “Corruption? Monster? Does it make us monsters to want to survive? Is corruption retreating the farthest we can from you so we can live in solitude? It was YOU who attacked us. YOU who are so keen on destroying our home. Monsters… oh yes. I’m looking at them right now.”
Pyri: “Dragon magic is the only thing keeping you alive. I can see it. I can smell it. Your kind don’t belong in this world.”
Hooded Female (giggles): “Look how eager they are to kill our own. Such violence. Such… bloodlust.”
Hooded Male (sadly): “What makes this your land? Was it not the Risen who brought Orr from the depths?”
Upon reaching the chamber’s exit, the party pauses.
Hooded Male: “Pariah Sieran?”
Hooded Female (cheerfully): “Im on it.”
The Hooded Female disappears in a cloud of flames, and reappears beside Radulfr. She kicks Pyri to the ground, her hooded robe falling off, revealing an undead Magister Sieran.
Pariah Sieran: “Cherry!”
Pariah Sieran grabs Sieran and disappears once more, both of them gone in a wisp of smoke.
Pyri: “NO! We have to find him. Come on!”
Our heroes battle further into the depths of the cathedral. Syri will pause at moments, looking at the architecture and items in the cathedral.
Pyri: "Radulfr is a religious man. Nothing in particular…. not to any gods or “god.” He just believes in something."
“I hate to say it but the architecture is… breathtaking in her. If only Radulfr and I had the time to appreciate it… we need to find him.”
“This scepter… it looks like some kind of ritual item. Radulfr loves things like this. Maybe I should give it to him when we find him.”
Our party enter a ritual room with a metal slab in the middle. Sanguine puddles are all around but no body to be seen. Pariah Sieran sits on the slab. Her hair is black and dried, her skin cracked. White globes for eyes stare mockingly out at our heroes.
Pyri: “Where’s my husband?!”
Pariah Sieran: “Our guest? Ah, he and the Deathbringer went off to go talk. It would be quite rude to interrupt the two.”
Pyri: “You-”
Pariah Sieran: “But even more rude to not entertain my guests – catch!”
[BOSS FIGHT] Pariah Sieran
[Mechanics] Pariah Sieran is an Elementalist and specializes in magic attacks. Although powerful, she’s weak at defending herself – and she knows it. Pariah Sieran will do all she can to keep you away from her.
[Ice Sphere] “Cherry!”
Pariah Sieran lobs an ice sphere at you. If it connects it will knock you down and deal moderate damage.
[Tidal Wave] “Let’s have some fun!”
Pariah Sieran teleports 10 feet away from the nearest player and launches a tidal wave toward that player. If players are hit, they will lose all health.
[Recuperate] “I can’t… continue.”
Pariah Sieran needs to recuperate her dragon magic. A shield envelops her, allowing her to heal. Two dragon totems flank her and must be destroyed to remove the shield.
[Sorrow] “Please… kill me.”
Pariah Sieran falls to her knees and weeps. For 10 seconds, Pariah Sieran will allow players to attack her.
[Mania] “What… oh? Cherry!”
Pariah Sieran gets up and knocks any player within 5 feet to the ground.
Upon death, Pariah Sieran will fall to her knees, the dragon magic leaving her body.
Pariah Sieran (chuckling): “I was hoping to fall in love… before I died. Tybalt…”
Our players leave the ritual chamber and enter a garden. Flowers and plants are blooming to life. Pollen float throughout the air. Radulfr stands in the middle of the garden, his skin a deathly grey. He turns around to look at the group with black beady eyes.
Pyri: “My love… what has he done to you?”
Radulfr: “Norn. Asura. Human. Sylvari. Charr. We all war with each other, staining Tyria with blood. What if the world became a better place without us? What if the dragons could cleanse the world, healing it!”
Pyri: “You’re not well!”
Radulfr: “No. I’m not. You’re not. None of us are. We all… have to die.”
[BOSS FIGHT] Radulfr
[Cleanse] “Do you see it now?!”
Radulfr picks up a random player. If a set amount of damage isn’t done to Radulfr in time, the player will become downed.
[Visions] “Look… how beauty turns to death.”
Radulfr burns a random part of the garden, dealing significant damage. Small flames warn you of the incoming Area of Damage (AoE).
[Entrapment] “Let magic take back the world…”
A random player is encased in a magic seal. Players must be broken out.
[Do you See it Now] “The darkness…”

In this thread, I will be sharing my idea for what the next patch should be. This is just something fun I thought of during work (I’m a medical scribe, so I’m very bored haha) that I’ve added to every now and then. This patch idea is story driven and meant to further the PVE aspect of the game, which in my opinion, has faltered. This will be broken up into different sections with what would be included.
Table of Contents
1. Story (Includes the premise, dungeon dialogue, bosses, and boss mechanics).
– Jin, the Canthan Butcher
– Pariah Sieran
– Radulfr
– Tybalt Deathbringer
2. Trash Mobs
3. Ascended Armor
Story: Remnants of the Dead (WARNING: In game spoilers below)
Since the defeat of Zhaitan, the undead hordes upon the island of Orr have begun to recede. However, some of them still remain, stubbornly clinging to the world of the living. On the northern coast of the Cursed Shore, the remnants of the dead rally to their last leader within the halls of the Dark Cathedral. Veteren soldiers of the Pact fight night and day to finally extinguish the undead threat once and for all – sending out a call for aid to any and all brave adventurers willing to set foot in Orr one last time….
Entering the portal to the Plains of the Dark Cathedral…
You enter the plains of the Dark Cathedral, cliffs rising endlessly on each side. A tall Norn in plate armor approaches you, her long white hair flowing behind her as she rushes to your side. Behind her is a rather short man, wobbling to keep up with her.
Dialogue plays in game, no cut scenes.
Figure 1: “So this is it then? A call is sent out to all of Tyria and only five people respond? Typical. We defeat an Elder Dragon, save the world, and nobody wants to help clean up the mess left behind.”
Figure 2: “Excuse my wife, we’ve all been a bit on edge since the siege began. My name is Lt. Radulfr. This is my wife Pyri.”
Pyri: “Captain Pyri.”
Radulfr: “Yes… Captain Pyri.”
Pyri: “In case you haven’t noticed, we have a siege underway. Since you’re here, you might as well make yourselves useful. When the Asura left Orr, they took all their fancy weapons with them. For the past three days, all we’ve had to attack their walls with are the catapults we’ve… commandeered from the Risen. There’s no way we’re going to breach their keep. Luckily-”
Radulfr: “- a small, yet capable team can sneak through their lines. With the right diversion of course. On our signal, the rest of our forces will engage the front gates. While they’re distracted, we’ll try and find a way inside through the keep’s wall.”
Pyri (smirks): “Think you’re up for it?”
The group makes their way through the plains, the Pact and Risen fighting in the distance. As the Pact and their siege weapons advance, as does your group upon the Cathedral’s walls, killing all Risen in your path.
Radulfr (whispers): “Wait.”
Radulfr sneaks toward a spot on the Cathedral wall, tapping it with his hand."
Pyri (growling): “This isn’t time to admire the fine craftsmanship!”
Radulfr: “The wall is weak here. Hand me your pickaxe heroes. If we hack away at it we should be able to break through in a couple of hours…”
The wall explodes outward, sending Radulfr flying backward. Pyri screams out his name and rushes to his side, dropping her weapon. As the dust settles, a towering figure strides toward you. The creature is naked, pieced together from multiple discolored patches of skin. It’s adorned solely by a crimson spattered apron, and the two giant meat cleavers in each hand.
Jin, the Canthan Butcher: “Mmm… more flesh for the Butcher.”
[BOSS FIGHT] Jin, the Canthan Butcher
- Jin, the Canthan Butcher has a 90% damage reduction when attacked in front. However, he gains 150% damage when attacked from behind. The key to this fight is focusing an attack on his back when he follows a player. The player being followed is then to lead him over traps on the ground set by NPCs for massive damage.
[Butcher’s Rage] “Surrender your flesh!”
- Jin focuses on a random player and swings both cleavers repeatedly for 10 seconds. Any players caught in the path take 50k damage.
[Slice and Dice] “Your heart rate is quickening.”
- Jin focuses on a random player for 15 seconds. Jin swings wildly, causing his attacks to miss 50% of the time.
[Explosive Endings] “Let’s end this!”
- Radulfr and Pyri join the fight when Jin reaches 50% health.
[Taunt] “You smell worse than a Charr!”
- Pyri taunts Jin, causing him to focus only on her for 5 seconds.
[Explosive Endings] “Lead him this way!”
- Radulfr lays mines on the ground. At 1% health Jin is invincible unless lead over a mine.
Upon death, Jin explodes, a rewards chest where his body used to be.
Radulfr: “Uh… was that INSIDE him?”
Pyri (sighs): “Let’s go my love.”

I would like to know too. I was going to go run around the block or something while waiting.
Set a skill that doesn’t require targeting to autocast, problem solved.
What skills do guards have like that?
Ah dang. I just want to get it over with. Some people in LA said they waited 2 hours after the suppossed start time. Then it started randomly at 10:30am server time. :/
In Lions Arch before you’re auto logged off? I just want to leave my character there while im at work for the fireworks.
Now, we all know the controversy with the weapon tickets Anet seems to have made a standard of each patch. Now, nobody (except Anet of course) knows why the RNG factor of weapon tickets is in effect despite widespread dislike of it, but here are some facts:
1. Weapon Tickets are profitable.
2. People want the weapons.
3. Anet is making money off the people who are buying them.
Now, what is the solution to satisfy both Anet and the consumer?
1. Guaranteed Weapon Tickets
How you ask? Simple. Allow people to buy them with gems. I believe 15-25$ is reasonable for a single weapon ticket (compared to WoW’s minipet and mount prices). However, when purchased with gems, these tickets are soulbound. But aren’t tickets soulbound already you may be asking yourself. What would be the point of buying/using Rich/Normal Dragon Coffers? Well, read on fellow gamers…
2. Tradable Weapon Tickets from Coffers
Make the Tickets that drop from COFFERS tradeable. This will allow players to sell excess tickets they don’t want, or increase the want/need for coffers – so people can sell them.
This way, people who want a “100% chance” at a ticket can buy it with real money, or they can buy in game at a player set gold price, or attempt to get one from the coffers.
Has anyone tried farming the Cursed Shore events for high end materials AND COffers?
Ive gotten 10 pets so far… >_<. I wonder if the pets and tickets have the same drop chance?
Well earlier today I opened 500 normal ones (both bought and farmed myself) and got 4 minipets and… nothing lol.
zzzuuzzz
Well earlier today I opened 500 normal ones (both bought and farmed myself) and got 4 minipets and… nothing lol.
Is the difference between the two for dropping weapon tickets significant? Just want to know before I buy a ton with gold. Like if rich is 1% and regular is .5%, it might be better to just buy regular in bulk non?
You created a whole world to just take it away… it should be part of the game, you guys even said it yourself that you want to keep expanding the worlds. Why not keep the SAB there, and add a new world every month?
Also, the Flames and Frost dungeon was pretty good. Why remove it forever instead of letting players play through it? Such a waste of time and resources.
Like killing world bosses they added? i just want to make sure before I log off to study :P
Anny American servers open
Are there any other cool animated weapons besides the obvious Legendaries, Mystic Weapons and Jotun sword everyone has? I just recently saw the Asura cultural greatsword and it’s awesome.
Combat Healer – Nurse in real life. Even in a medical based guild the Sons of Hippocrates (Hippocrates is the father of medicine).
I won’t lie they got me addicted. My general thought was, since I spent this much money, I might as well keep going until I get something right? But then, being the nursing student I am, I stopped and realized, this is an addiction. Is it fun? No. Am I getting anxiety until I reach my “high” of getting a fused ticket? Yes. Am I utilizing an unhealthy ego defense mechanism from this whole ordeal? Rationalization. Projection (that we won’t get into ). Yup.
I decided to just quit playing this game, too much time and money wasted for nothing in return. Guess I’ll come back when they add real content.
Opened 10, no fused tickets. :/
Is there a way to combine stacks of BLack Lion picks, harvesters and axes? I have so many O_O
Fused 2 handed sword! Already opened like 80 chests and nothing :’(
Are they? I want to know before I spend money on 10 keys.
Thank you for the responses!
I hope its still open!
What runes go well with a Zerker geared Guardian? Im using the runes that come with the CoF gear so far. And I use a greatsword with bloodlust rune.
Any open in the US?
I was wondering if there is a way to make the game run faster for those of us on low end computers. For example, even though shadows are off, shadows still show in some areas, and they “greatly detailed” shadows. Is there a way to turn these off? And any other tips on how to make the game run faster?
For example, for WoW, you were able to edit the game file to turn certain things off you couldnt turn off in the game client
…
That isn’t a GUIDE and doesn’t show you all the things in this patch. Like the three events you can do after the new dungeon for instance.
is there a guide somewhere showing all the items available they added? Like dungeons, gear, other events, etc.
Is the cost to craft an item in the mystic forge (Like Foefire’s Essence or Volcanus) significantly less expensive than or equal to buying it off the trading post? I think I saw somewhere saying that theyre about the same.
Thanks for the responses!
So what I wanted was something to match the “Zerker Warrior” that everyone wants so much in CoF, but the Guardian equivalent.
I meant to say Beserker
Isnt rampager gear direct damage?
Anyone?
There has to be a good dps build
Are there any good builds centered around using Beserker gear? I’ve been using this build so far and it;s kind of dull.
