The thing about the instance nodes is that it is not worth it to go there.
If I can buy a couple of the mats off the trading post why would I go out of my way and also spend silver on waypoints when that money can be used on the post?
Nevermind! I got it!
Btw thanks Ayrilana, but that is for World 2 I believe.
For anyone who is wondering the last thing I was missing was in Zone 2. It turns out that to get the achievement, after you break the cage you need to STAY on the tree stump before it warps you to the next zone. So don’t go running around!
Hi everyone, I’ve been stuck on 26/27 feats for this achievement.
I already searched around, and many people already suggested me to visit the shops. I’ve already visited BOTH the shop in Zone 1 and Zone 2…. so I don’t know what else I could be missing! I’ve already run through the zones multiple times, and I’ve followed the hand arrows very closely, and even did both alternate paths when they split.
Does anyone have an idea of what I could possibly be missing?
Exploration. While leveling, I loved going through the zones and discovering new things. Sometimes I’d come across a jumping puzzle or mini-dungeon, which took me away from what I was doing and gave me a “side-quest.”
Other times I stumbled upon some dynamic event chains and followed it through to see the entire story and what happened.
I’m not 100% sure, but I think this is how it works.
During a “close the portal” event, there are different “waves” (not the 1st, 2nd, 3rd). What I mean by this is that the mobs spawn in waves. I noticed often that after we killed a champion, which is usually the last mob left over, the progress bar went down about 25%. Soon after that a bunch of mobs appeared again.
At least, this is how I think it works.. does anyone else have other reliable sources? The wiki page linked here was blank when I saw it
To start off, I’d like to say that I really do appreciate this update. Zones felt like an awesome battlefield and I enjoyed the story cutscenes. A lot of things were done well and I do feel that some parts of the living story have improved over time.
However there are also a lot of problems that this update has brought. My main problem is the issue of zerging champions during invaSions and ignoring the entire goal of the event. While participating in map chat, I was disappointed to see how the community reacted to calls to actually doing the event. Instead, people were opening telling people to just ignore the event and farm. It has really brought out what is to me the worst of the community in this game.
As this is the internet, it is only natural that there are hordes of people that aim only to zerg and get the most profit out of an event rather than playing it how it was intended. This means that the only solution is to develop content in a way that discourages or prevents such behavior. The invasions and champion loots together, while both good ideas, combine to make farming zergfests. As someone who wants to actually play the game and finish events, I feel that such zergfarming behavior being at the core of a huge game update is a step backwards for this game.
While I doubt that much will change as devs are already working on the next living story release, I hope that future releases will find ways to prevent and avoid the behavior that is occurring right now.
You seem to be implying that zerging isn’t playing the game as intended. I disagree given that that the last 3-4 updates have significantly increased the benefit of zerging. If they didn’t like zerging they would introduce updates that discourage it.
Hmm. Yeah, I do see your point.
In any case, I still do stand by my desire to have less zerging. Perhaps Anet does want zerging mechanics, and I don’t want to say that all zerging is bad since I do it at times too when I feel like just following a group, like in WvW. But what I don’t want to see is it becoming the main focus and center of content and gameplay as it has been in the last two releases.
And yes, I’m happy they’ve done something to solve the champion farming problem

GUAAAHHH! Client just crashed… just as I reached the final part of the event..
There goes 40 minutes wasted. Sigh
I get this same bug too. Gets you from 2nd place to last place.
So I finished my last zone today…
I thought I should have gotten world completion. I did get my gift of exploration after all. Currently I’m missing 1 waypoint.. but as far as I know I’ve done all the zones, unless something was added somewhere (511/512)
Anyone have any tips?
Same with a lot of the sentiments here. I know everything is technically “optional”, but the feeling of something always being taken away forever sucks. I like to complete things.
As of now the game is starting to feel more like an obligation, where I have to do certain things within this short time period. Oftentimes, I find myself prioritizing the temporary content over stuff that I really want to do. OCD-completion ftl.
Luckily it’s still summer and I have time to play. But I think once life starts getting busy, I will find myself dropping this game entirely.
Agreed with your points, especially 1, 2, and 5.
Honestly I may end up just dropping this game in the future. I’m finding the mechanics highly enjoyable right now, but current trends are just putting me off. Barring off achievements and content just frustrates my OCDness and I just don’t want to put up with a game that is basically saying “Even though life is busy, you should play now or never be able to play this content we made.”
Also mentioning I’d prefer a high quality, well thought out story rather than lower quality “living” story anyday.
Ouch, all these horror stories.
Guess I was lucky. First time I went through the puzzle everyone just did their own thing. No one was really fighting each other or screwing each other up, and my only enemy was the puzzle itself.
Then again, I guess going on at a really off-hour helped.
Is there a way to report this sort of behavior? I just ran fractals with a person who was the leader.
The leader so went afk and during major portions of the dungeon, particularly at boss fights. After that she conveniently came back when the boss was nearly dead (I’m assuming for loot.)
We couldn’t kick her thanks to the instance leader system the game has set up (…why?), and I want to know if this sort of behavior is reportable..
