so this would be awesome.

I actually like the occasional oily rainbow colors in Orr.
on the other hand, the general rugged scenery does get boring easily.
still, the Mordor around CoF appeals much much less to me.

However, I think everything should be left as it is, I bet there’s gonna be enough additional content for different looking, beautifully creative regions.

Does anyone run +Heal gear and if so How much?

(with a Rifle build) I run with some +Healing on my gear and 6 Superior Rune of the Flock, but mostly precision and crit damage, this way my crit is quite high (both % and dam) and when I need to heal myself (or allies) it almost refills my health completely too. (not that I have a lot of vitality.) so anyway I’m kinda happy with this midway build!

even on another server sometimes I want to just wander around a region but I find noone around to do events with. but at other times, there are enough people. (depends on the region too i guess.)

it would be interesting to see some graphs about when players are most active on which server so that you can log in when there are many others online if you plan to do group things.
additionally, something about which zones are the most populated etc.

I pretty much like statistics, it would be nice if the dev team shared some that they surely have!

What armour is that?

it’s a Leatherwork crafted Noble coat. (easy to obtain, even on lower levels, it’s just a Rare, crafted from the recipe from the LW vendor.) I like the elegant look very much on my savage Charr!

Haltus Kain: that one is really nice, I’m going to look for it!

anyway, as for me, I like the looks of the simple Seraph Rifle the most… even legendaries don’t look better as far as I’m concerned, so at least that’s one less thing to worry about!

First time levelling an Engineer (Help required)

Kits may be superior once you become very good at using them, but they are not at all necessary, and I find them very difficult and distracting. There are enough keys to press and things to watch out for without complicating it with a kit.
Especially for leveling in PVE, you can get by without them excellently. it was much more enjoyable for me to use turrets and elixirs and the occasional gadget (nothing that replaces your basic slots). may be simplistic, but it’s still extremely effective, in PVE at least (dungeons too).
so there’s no need to overcomplicate your leveling with kits if it looks like it takes too much of your attention (as it did to me).

I totally agree with the OP – and it’s in no way a ‘reward’ problem.
Some instanced version of the regions in question would be nice for those that have completed the storyline. Like an overflow, but with different looks and stuff.
(I don’t want to go on about how WoW did it, but well yeah, they did it.)
It would make so much more sense!
mobs could still be present and such of course, but with some appropriate explanation.

clegane.5861

I don’t mind a slider, to each their own I guess,
but the distortion in the op video’s 100 fov is so ugly that it hurts.
hurts!

The game needs a fov slider, it takes 10 minutes to make one.

clegane.5861

I really appreciate that you try to explain it to me, but I guess I’m just too dumb for it!
when you scroll back, the character does not step backwars, so what’s next to him is still next to him, only you can see it better. isn’t that the desired result? Porbably what you would like is to be able to zoom out even more?
Honestly I can’t imagine this effect on a flat screen. As I see it, it’s either the same as rolling the camera backwards, or the picture gets distorted at the sides (which would be absolutely ugly).

The game needs a fov slider, it takes 10 minutes to make one.

clegane.5861

yes but how is it different than when you start by zooming the camera closest to your character, then zooming backwards? other than you happen to see the back of your character too of course, but let’s imagine it without that.

The game needs a fov slider, it takes 10 minutes to make one.

I don’t get it, expanding the FOV seems to be the same as scrolling the camera backwards. isn’t it?
it’s not even a first person view in the game, you see from well behind your character, thus seeing more as a player than your character does.
I clearly don’t get this, even after watching the videos.

Charr Enjoyment, why?

clegane.5861

all of the above!
really what got me was that there’s this huge werebeast-like terrifying creature, and instead of tearing everyone to bits with their bare claws and fangs, what are they renowned of… – their steampunk technology! it just seems so much fun to be this intimidating monster and then to draw my pistols and actually shoot the guy I don’t like instead of some expected physical violence.

the writing turned out to be excellent as well indeed.
I had this low level personal story where my kindof shady dad went and stole some artifact from the legion and deserted (he had his reasons), and then when they captured him I was offered the choice to either help him escape or let him face the trial – that was the single most involving, meaningful, personal and difficult decision in the whole game (even if it doesnt seem to have had much of an impact yet). I wish there were more decisions of this kind! (unfortunately, there aren’t.)

Fixing Orr: Expanding the End Game

in Dynamic Events

Posted by: clegane.5861

clegane.5861

that’s a valid suggestion and it could be beautiful if implemented well.
however, I think ‘expanding the end game’ could also mean: give players reason to travel around the world at level 80, not just stand in one place and farm. that would really be a win-win situation for everyone.
It seems to be clear from the responses that players don’t travel because the loot is crap in lower level regions. that is something that could be easily fixed.
Or perhaps some additional materials could be invented, one for each region that is unique to that region, which is given as reward for completing events there, and these would be necessary for some flashy new legendaries. (yes it does sound a bit forced but it’s the best I could come up with now.)

Fixing Orr: Expanding the End Game

clegane.5861

scaling up the rewards for lvl80 characters should do the trick easily… it may not make that much sense thematically, but it would even out the players amongst the regions at least. (theoretically.) It would still make more sense than to see the 80 zone crowded and the rest empty(ish)!

Do you think events should increase in difficulty?

in Dynamic Events

Posted by: clegane.5861

clegane.5861

“increasing difficulty each time when the players win” does sound like a very good solution!
I am by no means a power player, and I haven’t really seen many lost events either. other than those where I was the only one doing it. (and I even won some of those.)

Fixing Orr: Expanding the End Game

in Dynamic Events

clegane.5861

I don’t know why people keep crowding at one place, but this problem should be solved by finding out the real cause for this, instead of some random guesswork.
I mean, for example, if they are farming there for rare material for their legendary weapons or something, the solution could be to drop these materials for lvl80 characters all over the map as reward in hidden boss fights / chests.

As for me, my brain is constantly blown by finding nice hidden places and exciting events all around the maps, I could not imagine for my life why I would not keep searching for these once I reach lvl 80.
Of course, it was actually a bit of a disappointment eg. when a very well hidden minidungeon with a very tough mini boss dropped only 2 worthless white items in its reward chest. So maybe it’s understandable that people have better things to do than to look for these!

But if the reward would scale up to the player’s level, maybe lvl80 characters would be all over all maps just for fun, while they also receive the loot they need.

I’ve done it as Death by Chickens says, but it still bugged for me
the worst is that it is a very vey long quest in itself, and to start all over each time they dont follow is a VERY big kitten!

so it IS still buggy.

The Shatterer - In my opinion.

in Dynamic Events

Posted by: clegane.5861

clegane.5861

I’d like to add my voice here, hoping that perhaps the Shatterer will live up to its image one day after some update or other.
It is indeed a magnificently executed storyline, as someone wrote above, from noticing the shadow first when you arrive in the region up to finally fighting the dragon itself.
and the visuals are so gorgeous!
but the fight itself! the excitement only comes during the first time, not knowing what to expect, but then it turns out: there’s no danger whatsoever. It is indeed a let down. There could be so many things the dragon could do to make the fight more interesting that it hurts even more that it doesn’t. something that affects an area, or all attackers would work effectively even against large number of people, but there are many good suggestions above.
Anyways, love the game nevertheless.

oh no! really annoying quest!
the problem is, that the fix does not seem to be in effect.
(at least on my server, Whisteside Ridge ? )
when I fall, I am immediately mysteriously teleported outside of the cave, and I am dying out there (the animation where I can fight for my life but my health bar is running out), just outside the entrance, even while I’m not even dead yet! and then, when I actually die and choose the “restart from checkpoint”, I wake up right there: outside.
