WvW Tactivators: War Room Banners Broken

I am one of the main commanders of Sea of Sorrows NA, a T2 server currently hitting this issue as well. Whatever the game is, whatever the game mode, whenever a developer leaves something in the game so over the top like these banners, it forces the entire game population (whether that thing is a class or comp that is imbalanced, PRM in WoW arenas, a specific type of siege, or in this case banners) to either conform to this very specific thing or get farmed by this very specific thing. This causes a stagnation simply because anything that isn’t this item (banners) gets wrecked. That stagnation causes every team to get in line with whatever it is, be it banners, hammer train, battle/pirate ship, or whatever, and punishes any form of free thought or creative thinking put to the battlefield. Time and again, I have seen it take the high quality leaders and bore them into leaving for something else. With the high quality leaders will go a large portion of the population that is kept on that game by those leaders, leaving the game in the hands of lesser folk.

I do hope ANET takes these things seriously, and while they may have intended banners to break up the zergs, that is NOT what is happening. The zergs are picking up these banners out of necessity, and using them in every single encounter. This polarization of tactics has only one outcome…

Greetings WvWers!

Shout out to our competitors, especially JQ. You guys saw an opportunity to surge ahead last night, and capitalized on it. Tip of the hat to you and your WvW organizers, well done and nice work!

Shout out to the WvW guilds of BG and JQ, your continued shifts of tactical presence are what will keep WvW fresh. Who needs new maps or more carrots on our stick, when you have commanders and tacticians who are bringing new ideas to the field on a weekly basis! Special shout out to RISE, your necro heavy pain train was very innovative (especially seeing as you were able to use movements to minimize your weaknesses of this idea, while capitalizing on its strengths).

Look forward to trying out the TSYM counters against the new changes, great game to ALL competitors and allies alike, and see you on shuffle!

Respectfully,
TSYM

hey, can anyone pm me what map [TSYM] is on?

Mad tip of my hat to Agg. You team was able to wipe us about 10 or so times in one night, making you one of the high scorers of any guild we competed against. Been a while since we had to reverse engineer a strategy (in fact, RG has the honor of that). By far one of the biggest improvements of any guild we have seen!

We made a few adjustments to our setup, but awesome use of rotations for your buffs. Took us a few times to figure it out, but we have a pretty solid counter for the strat now. I do look forward to being hunted by Agg again in the future, teams who are out refining their tactical edge, moving and distributing their composition and rotations, and taking WvW to a higher level is why I keep at it.

Tip of my hat to your team as well, your team runs a pure melee train very well. Must have taken a lot of practice, and movement training. See you again VERY soon, and yes, that is both a promise, and a threat!

Please stop with the l2strategize posts. You’re all fools if you actually believe some random cap of SM led to a 2v1 on BG for the third consecutive night.

Not qq’ing, just saying it’s simpler than that. SoR needs to attack BG to win, and JQ is looking to collect a few tears after being pummeled last week.

So your saying that no action in WvW has any reprocussions. Every action completed or attempted is independent of any previous actions, as well as future events?

Pretty sure you should never, ever, ever tag up brother…

Heya WvWers!

Just doing my weekly shout out to my SoR bretheren, and BG/JQ competitors alike! Good to see that we have a lot of talent returning to the big 3, and been seeing a lot of long lost guild coming back to the fold.

EB has been a great fight all week so far, mad kudos to SoR for understanding (for the most part) the strategies involved, the JQ commanders for their shrewd analysis of the map, and BG for never giving up. Seen the 2v1 argument thrown around a lot, just wanted to offer a read up for your enjoyment.

http://www.guildwars2guru.com/topic/77216-corons-guide-to-diplomacy-the-2v1-and-you/page__hl__%20diplomacy

This is a guide I posted around the beginning of December, and it was mostly involving the deep strategic value of diplomacy on EBG. Those of you who are “red is dead”, or think that enemies should never take opportunities to double down on another color are flat wrong. EBG was built to be insanely static, and in those environments you can go days or a full week with nothing really flipping or trading hands.

EBG is all diplomacy, and its not for the pew pew’ers. The answer to “what is happening” that BG keeps asking is simple, you guys SEVERAL time this week have looked weak on EBG. The minute you did, the other two colors saw it and took you down. You then spent the next 5 hours digging out of the hole that was made! In a few weeks the Outmanned buff will be gone, and you can map hop without worry, but right now if you let that buff go on you during NA prime time, expect to lose your whole corner.

Thanks again for a great WvW week, TSYM looks forward to meeting you on the field again soon!

Greetings from TSYM,

Just wanted to say thanks to all competitors on the field this week. Special shout out to CERN and EP, when you guys combine on a map, you can make the biggest coordinated team I have ever encountered in WvW to date. Some would trash talk this as you replacing skill with numbers, I do not. You move well, everyone is coordinated, and your numbers provide you with a might on the field that is VERY difficult to deal with. 60+ enemies charging through a choke at us with the 5 player cap on AOE means your for sure getting in.

Most don’t get that math, but if you have 100 players on a dime (hypothetically, don’t bother flaming me that you never run with 100), you run with a 95% damage reduction buff (5 players hit from each AOE out of 100 = 95/100 immune to AOE = 95% of damage doesnt hit your team). Very effective and very deadly.

At the end of the day, that’s all that matters. Take the games rules how they stand, and build your team the best you can. You guys did that to the Nth degree, and had us playing like the beginning days of TSYM when we were the small quick hit and portal escape team on DB. Was awesome facing another team knowing you had a stronger force by far, the fights last longer, and the hit and run movements and play to play strats being employed by both commanders was exquisite!

Very much looking forward to facing you guys again when score has more meaning. Keep recruiting, cause once you have the coverage to dance in T1, your NA will be a BLAST to fight!

Greetings WvWers!

Big shout out to the TC forces we fought against on SoR BL. Your team moves VERY well, and you had my scouts and VTAC teams frustrated more than a few times trying to predict your movements and tail your teams. Your showing right out the gate was awesome, the kind of thing we would expect to see in a T1 match. Never seen the Woodhaven opener quite like how your commander did it, tip of the hat to you sir!

Overall, it was nice to see the same play that had us missing T2 when we fell below it on SoS. Looking forward to more of the same, and learning a lot from your commanders!

To my BG commander counterpart in EB – Been there, having to lead skittish pugs around like that. Mad props that you saw my strategy for what it was, and Ill assume you tried to inform your map of what I was doing, and how they were feeding into the plan. Overall though, remember I put EVERYTHING I had out there to take your keep from you, and you still beat me back with a stick. Not a claim many could have made, and it was a situation many commanders would have rage quit on. Keep up the good work and you’ll start to build a team of regulars around you that you can count on.

To BT – Heard really good thing from the watercooler about your teams ability to fight and manipulate the open field / map. Sometime before this is all over, I do hope you find your way to our map. TSYM usually gets set on our map around 3pm PST, if your interested. Be a shame if this is our last matchup, and we don’t get a chance to test our teams against each other!

Regardless of how it goes, GG, GL, and /respect to all commanders with the balls to tag up! Remember, its easy to talk trash on the leader, but they are at least stepping up. If you think you can do better, prove it!

Map tactics is our thing. We did however GvG TW and choo. We thought we may not see each other again for a while and did it out of respect for them and their server. We also learned heaps from it so it was worth it. That is the area we feel we have left to grow in. I was shadowing another commander helping out in EB on Saturday when I noticed you and your guild hit WC extremely fast after contesting our keep wp. Then saw all of TSYM sit in WC so the same tactics could not be used from the night before. Great job in adapting on your behalf

Thanks, we try! Look forward to facing off against you guys in the coming days. Got to be honest, might have been nice to fight some new competition, but you cant beat the classics.

Huge shoutout to the fighters on all sides who played EB this afternoon. THAT is how WvW should be done, and well done from all commanders for making that happen. Have to tip my hat big time to BG side, you guys had an EPIC showdown on your keep, and no matter how hard we tried to topple your last holdout, you shut us down and kept on point. Was only a matter of time before JQ got ADD and hit us, you held out till that happened.

As to the GvG chatter, my statement was my opinion. Guess what, everyone has one. Why do you care about mine? My team trains for WvW, not GvG. Our builds and strategies are intended to fight all kinds of fights, terrain, enemies, and most importantly keep offense/defense. GvG is specifically for fighting another guild in an open field somewhere, which while we love the clashes we get while fighting some enemies, we have been known to (more than once) feign a hit on an enemy to instead blitz around and wipe their siege (or take a point).

That is in essence why we play. TSYM is focused on WvW, and the randomness, craziness, imbalancedness, madness that is an average afternoon in there. You can pipe on about skill all you want, but you know what WvW skill is? Ask the JQ commander how, with the weakest field presence of all the servers on EB, he was able to keep not only SM, but dominated PPT on the map the whole time!

THAT was skill. He didn’t own anyone off the map, he didn’t stand strong in front of the enemy army, he played smart, tactical, and careful. As a result, he did his server proud by building a strong PPT.

Once again, my opinion. If you disagree with it that is your prerogative. My gauge of skill is different than yours. Perhaps instead of retaliating with a counter to my opinion, you should ask yourself why it bothers you so much?

Good for you BT, GvG is kitten measuring plain and simple. It is the fall back “come at me bro” of WvW, and hilarious when you think about the implications. First off, and I’m sure you can relate, TSYM has chewed up zergs 3, 4, even 5 times our size before because they are uncoordinated or we were better trained. We have also outnumbered an enemy and through skilled manipulation of the terrain, a well placed piece of siege, or a 3+ stage feign/portal flank were sent packing.

The point is this, if you need that balance to make sure that your kitten remains unchallenged, WvW is not your stage. Being in situations where you are outnumbered drastically, or taking a massive force against another massive force, practicing the 5 Ds of Dodgeball until one of you makes the winning play and claim victory (and bags) is what WvW is all about!

What I think you are looking for, is sPvP/tPvP. Don’t come in here and bawl when its not balanced, or your team isn’t big enough. If you had 10 amazingly skilled people, and I rolled you over with 50, who is at fault? Me for killing you, or you for parking that little SmartCar of a force in my way? Honestly, its not OUR fault that sPvP isn’t more popular. Turns out people want to play with a more dynamic battlefield, and enjoy larger, more epic, and less structured fights.

Nothing gets a team on cloud nine faster than taking a massive force out with a bare bones small op team. Try it, if they beat you, try it again! Its intensely hard, but so rewarding when you accomplish it!

Oh yea, and BT welcome to T1. Here, when asked how many you had with you, the answer is always around 10-15.

Greetings to all da EBers last night from TSYM!

Wanted to thank all the BG, JQ, and SoR that were on the map during shuffle. Im really glad the pressure started to let up, because honestly, I would have stayed up for that action indefinitely.

Mad props to the JQ commander, your ability to manipulate the map last night was masterful. You had the weaker of the 3 fielded presences, and maintained top PPT ALL NIGHT. Aside from the trebbing you did at SM once you got secure, everything else was awesomely diplomatic. GJ and hope to face off with you again very soon.

To the BG commander, nice field technique. I think we had more epic clashes in one night than we have been seeing in full weeks. Hats off to you for not falling back and dropping arrow carts every time you see red. Your team had the training, builds, and formations to be able to dance open field, a skill most guilds seem to be avoiding for the favored “drop arrow carts and lol” strategy.

And lastly, to the grub. You know you had it coming. You know what you did. I don’t think we need to go any deeper into it, do we?

TSYM a fun target?

In the first 5 days we were in T3 I wracked up an amazing 8300 kills. Both YB and DB threw everything they had at us. It was fun, it was exciting, and it was definitely challenging.

In the last 7 days we wracked up about 430 kills. Rather than face the first challenge your tier gets in who knows how long, you chose to avoid us, and hit our homeland whenever we left it. Any time we took the field you scattered like roaches with the kitchen light turned on, and hit us where we weren’t. The ONLY decent challenge we had last match week was when BP was hammering us with everything they had while YB hit our hills the instant crossed swords showed. It was about 3 hours of run, wiping golems, defending massively one sided fights, and seeing great combat movements. The instant they took bay they moved, and joined in with the “dodge TSYM like we owe them money” initiative.

You had a solid chance to improve your team by facing mine. So yes, you can go back to your talentless ZvZ brawls, and BP I’m sure can go back to farming uncoordinated masses like its zombie land. Well go in search of a higher caliber of competition, one that might actually stay and fight!

Seriously, the only words worth reading in this whole mess of crap has been the few who are looking at it correctly. There is literally ONE winner every week, ONE. They have perfect 24/7 coverage, and skilled teams that play every single hour of the day.

Anyone thinking they are big stuff being first in any tier, INCLUDING the first, is silly in the extreme. Go in, HAVE FUN, and play it like a strategy game. Take the board how it is, work towards turning it to your color using strategy, communication, and tactics, and have fun during your play time. Tomorrow, log on and do it again!

DB got to 500PPT yesterday during EU prime, so be it. Anyone with two brain cells to rub together knows that SoS, YB, and DB were VERY close together during their prime times, and we gained 10,000 pts during our SEA time. NA prime comes around and all of a sudden were even again. See a pattern? Gloating about the score is useless and extremely arrogant. Enjoy the fights we have, and remember that if we jump back to T2 were going to get coverage screwed worse than DB and YB are right now.

If someone else is looking at it from the standpoint that they are more or less skilled due to the score, does it really warrant a response? You know its false, THEY probably know its false, and yet, the trollolloll goes on.

And for the record, YB has [Me], and they are a VERY strong large guild. To say that YB has nothing in that area is play false.

All good guys, trust me the score really is a big joke. Have your fun when and where you can, the tiers seem pretty good like they are now. If a color sweeps in and night caps, or day caps, who cares! If you want a full coverage server, might I direct you to T1.

Win or lose, have fun with it. Just because one server is ahead of the other rarely has anything to do with skill, trust me, we saw it to its ultimate conclusion at T1. Leave the coverage wars to those actually fighting them, and lets enjoy this tier for its competition and fun!

I might add to all those SoS feeling like rubbing it in, there is only ONE winner every week, technically. Does that mean everyone below them should be miserable?

First off, let me just say that ANYONE who thought T3 was a joke was talking completely out of their butt. You guys brought such pain to SoS on shuffle we had to double take to make sure we weren’t thrown back into T1! I think after 20 min into the match, BG and YB had a combined 22 golems on the map. EPIC!

As far as the hate harbored by our old server, feel free. We will try and keep it clean and classy while we are here, as we did when we moved up, and how we are when moving down. When we moved to SoS, it was a different game. Times have changed, and now its not ONLY a single bracket that gets all the competitive teams, but MANY. Keep giving us your all and we would be honored to stay here and compete with your teams!

Amazing showing by YB! Very good coordinated movement by your commanders during NA prime push on SoS BL. I know how difficult it is to coordinate large scale combat on a micro level, and you were able to keep us on our toes. Well fought!

Looking forward to another great day of WvW. If you do catch a /salute from us, it is not sarcastic. Lets keep the fun rolling, GJ and GG!

Thanks for the fun this week SoS. Special thanks to TSym. I think if you guys train up your pugs you guys can get back to T2. ^^

Thats the plan! Since the stress cases left lots of good players have come out of hiding to want to try out WvW. Few weeks of training and practice, and well be coming for that spot again!

Farewell T2,

Thanks a ton for having us, short as it was. While you may not ‘technically’ be higher ranked than the guilds of T1, I assure you the difference is a simple fact of coverage ONLY. To be honest, we were skeptical about descending the ranks after being in T1 for so long, but the level of professionalism and sportsmanship behavior we got to see in T2 has us definitely shooting to rejoin it. Maybe some of it was people being nice while trying to recruit us (got about 20 recruitment email and messages in 5 days), but a lot of it was genuine GG for our play and performance.

Most of the T1 guilds couldn’t /salute an enemy action without spontaneously bursting into flames. Most of the guilds that bailed on SoS blamed fellow allies before ever crediting JQ on their win. You guys show real class and character, it’ll be sad to go.

Rest assured, we will be keeping an eye on this bracket, and we will be preparing to return! Be ready, SoS takes our next step back into T2 to STAY! May be a few weeks to make it happen, but we have eyes on the prize!

See you all real soon! /salute

TC 90% chance has moving back up in the bag. Sorry to see you go SoS, if that’s the case. :/

Not at all guys, SoS has some serious work to get knocked out with our strategy and tactics. I think it will be better to do this in T3, and once we are firing on all cylinders well be back up to dance.

Keep our spot warm, when we come back up well be a whole new community!

My account coronbale.3894 was completely shut down after adding the google authentication. Today I received an unauthorized login attempt so I thought I would add more security, and the whole thing locked down. Now I have no access to anything, cannot log in, cannot log into the support line, and am prompted by no authentication prompt. This will probably be the last message I can get out, seeing as I will be unable to relog after my connection times out. Please contact me via email attached to the account for further customer service, as I have no phone or method of contacting you when your account gets locked down like this.

Lets have another great day of NA WvW! Hoping to see all the skilled teams of KN and FA out there en force, well be bringing in some PVE guys to show them the ropes. Play nice with them now!

Also hope we get to see more of our old allies out there. Really cant wait to hear the excuses you little girls give on why TSYM, the guild you bashed repeatedly for being skilless is treating you to a prison date. Or maybe you will take the week off, out of respect for your old server! Please let it be that one, o please!

Baroness, while we thank you for your repeated inquiries into rejoining our team please be advised that gifts of gold, gems, or promises of an inappropriate nature will be considered bribery, and will hurt your chances of approval. If it continues we will be forced to report you to our Human Resources department for disciplinary action.

We here at TSYM thank you for your time.

Awesome time dancing with your commander last night RISE, your team moves very well! Well be out there on SoS BL again today if yall are interested in a few more friendly bloodbaths.

GJ to all this match-up, TSYM has had a blast so far this week. Something that T2 has that T1 will simply never grasp, is the proper allocation of personnel. When you have enough coverage to cap all 4 maps, you don’t have to think beyond the fight you are in, where as T2 keeps good communication between all maps involved in the battle. Several time we would hit a map and see a guild show, and then the guild would return to its previous map. Keep up the great work, were getting an education here as well!

And lastly to my TSYM haters. We were considered the best of SoS for LONG before you crybabies started bawling up a storm. Maybe now that we might meet across the field, you’ll realize that maybe YOUR team could have used a little more training, and a little less whining. See you on the field, and know that if… Sorry WHEN we wipe your team, well be rollin in our TS. Your negativity is gone, but your bags will remain!

Best of luck to all competitors in this matchup. It has truly been an honor fighting your teams here. T1 coattail riders dont know what they are missing!

Heya T2,

Coron of TSYM, wanted to extend a hearty /salute to both KN and FA. Massive props to everyone who proved all the negative nancies wrong by providing a very challenging and difficult fight to the remaining guilds on SoS.

Despite the most recent goodbyes (not the ones from a week ago, or the ones from 4 days ago, but the ones today) from the next wave of WvW guilds, TSYM is looking forward to more good and challenging match-ups between our new T2 competitors. You guys bring the pain, and your overall strategies are so different than anything T1 is doing (having to deal with maps that don’t all have queues) it gives a different and very real challenge to our teams. Its easy to throw numbers at the enemy, but when you have to actually THINK about where to allocate a limited number of soldiers across a battlefield, your actually forced to use STRATEGY. They way some people run from that word is hilarious!

Good fights, and GG from TSYM!

bad kittie

True colors no, but nice was the last few weeks. This week you have my full, undivided attention. Heard every form of BS drama, gossip, and staged propaganda in the last two weeks about Sea of Sorrows, enough is enough.

BTW, those of you who are trying to buy the loyalties of SoS guilds, make sure you get a receipt A few are eyeing that twilight with your Xerxes traitor money! Hell, kick some to me to! “Of course” ill transfer, promise! Those Omegas? No no, they were here before…

All this back ally bribery, shady spying, and compromised security going around has me fed up listening to all the drama and noise. nearly 2000 kills today, and still not done with you!
