A question about GW2

Honestly, If I wanted to have challenge, serious bussiness, mix maxing and drama, I would be better raiding in WOW.

I’m playing GW2 instead of Wow because Guild Wars 2 is more nice, relaxing, casual. People actually work together instead of competing. You can play the way you like. Nobody will kick of the dungeon for not having certain achievs or Gearscore.
Or so I was told.
Everyday the game looks more and more elitist and mean in general.

Add the thing that anet has for temporary content and PvC (Player vs Clock) and I starting to think that I made a big mistake.
It’s a shame, because the game itself is really nice. I love the visuals and art style. The cooperative style of play (no killsteal, only helping, yeay!).

In some places there’s a nice and welcoming athmosphere, like in the Cliffs. But in others…

PD: It’s funny, people still complains of the toxicity of the QD train… I witness toxicity everywhere. One group particulary toxic is the train haters. Irony?

I’m not disregarding what you say about Guildwars 2 being a more relaxing experience for an mmo overall but there comes a point when people just want more of a challenge something to work towards like a wall to get over not only alone but with friends and guild mates. The whole game is currently built around casual players but there becomes a point where people want/need more progression. Before anyone says go play <mmo> here if you want a challenge I wouldn’t be here if I didn’t love this game for what it is.

For the topic of the temp content, Anet have confirmed that they have seen the light and the whole next living story is all perm content which can’t be complained about.

Yes there people who were against the Queensdale train could be toxic and yes not everyone is polite but I spend a lot of time in Queensdale myself as it is a great place to do dailies and the amount of times I have seen a new player for example at the champion troll event pick up the stone and try to fight it only to be verbally abused over map chat for literally doing the content how it is expected in the game is unprecedented.

I’m happy that the champs are no longer champs. The fact that you can solo them at about lvl 16 well I have no problem there. It really has stopped the Queensdale train and forced people out into the world.

GW2 Becoming P2W

But then again, maybe it’s just to complicated for you to understand what OP is talking about. Thats oke, I don’t blame you, no hard feelings.

And if you understood the joke you would understand that I don’t care if some is decked out in fluff looking gear. What does that prove? What have they won the I are looking cool? Ever last person has pointed out to you that this is not P2W no matter if it’s on the PVP side of the PVE side.
What has your personal opinion about not caring about fluff to do with anything? Some people don’t care about losing / dying in a fight, does that then also mean P2W does not exist in PvP games? No it doesn’t.

Yeah indeed everybody pointed out that this is not literally P2W, indeed. But then again, thats not what OP is saying. So the problem is that everybody keeps pointing out that it’s not literally P2W. However, just like P2W is bad for a game because of some reasons related to the game-play. What Anet is now doing with the gem-store is also bad for this game related to this game-play. Thats basically what OP is saying. But nobody is really reacting on that.

Like I said, he should rewrite it without using the term P2W. That might help. It would then still say the same but people would non only see the P2W and forget about the rest of the text.
Because we as in me and the other posters are point out to you is that we don’t care. For many of us we just don’t care about fluff gear that adds no stats and that we can make are own gear in game.

If someone wants to by fluff gear in the gem shop good for them. None of us care. That is what we are trying to tell you and the OP. But again you keep on and on of how much it matters like it means something. We just don’t care that much about fluff gear as much as we do about just playing the game. The fluff gear is just icing on the cake.

But if the cake does not taste good then who cares how good the icing looks. If you really care about the fluff gear that much then you really don’t understand what P2W or why people play MMOs.

And once again somebody keeps talking about the winning. It’s a PvE game it’s not about winning. And why would you stop playing if somebody else got better gear? You also stop playing if you get killed in a PvP match? You make no sense what so ever.

You are missing the point. What he is saying is that in a PvP game winning is the goal, in a PvE game (Like GW2) fluff the goal.

They should simply focus on expansions for income not on the gem-store. See the gem-store as a nice extra but not more. Then all this sort of stuff can get in the game and in the gem-store you just find thinks like a few! special mini’s (not the complete list of mini’s like now because mini’s are also fluff) and the upgrades like extra character slots and bag slots, bank slots, the name changer makes sense in the gem-store and a few of those thinks. But not the fluff. That should mainly be in the game.

You mean there are people that are willing to buy gear that gives them no stats just to look cool. Dear me I guess I should stop playing sense those people won and I did not because I’m not buying said gear.

I should rethink my whole reason for playing now. OH dear oh me oh my what was I thinking? I guess next time I’m in PVP and I see someone in cool fluff gem gear I should take all my gear off and let them win.

So it’s P2W because if I don’t buy skins I will be kicked from a dungeon or something? Kitts why did someone not tell me this sooner I’m out of here.

Wait for it

looking pretty does not = P2W

Can't play any other mmo because...

I’m someone who came from WoW. I enjoyed that game I really did. Then I got burned out and asked myself. Why I was still playing when it felt more like a job. Unlike a real job though I was paying to play. I found GW2 and have enjoyed myself ever sense. I may go back to WoW at some point if they fix there problem with the cross realm zones.

So what people really want is WoW end game. Why? What is so great a out WoW end game. What is so great about logging in every day to raid just to get gear just to do more raid just to do it all over again when the level cap goes up again from 90 to 95.

I did all of that I don’t want to do that again. I will get what ever gear I want when I hit 80 in this game then level my alts and do the same.

WoW has become nothing but a race to level cap just to raid and run heroics. If that’s what people think of as fun well I’m glad I don’t play WoW any more.

I’m sort of confused by your comment. You don’t want a WoW-grind-like MMO, but you don’t mind grinding dungeons for endgame in GW2? Um… What?

Thing is I don’t have to grind those dungeons if I don’t want to.

So what do you actually do? beside pvp and wvw.

Whatever I want to in the game. PvP WvW, events whatever I want to do I do it. I go back and I even do low level quests and I have fun doing all of that. End game is what ever I want it to be in this game.

Like I already stated, I am not a PvPer, and going back and doing lower lvl quests isn’t endgame content.

So all you really want is WoW style raids for more gear. Got it umm why don’t you go play WoW then I hear that they are bleeding subs right now.

And you know when I want to do that stuff I will go and play rift because it’s going FtP. So yeah I’m done with the GW2 needs to be like WoW and needs end game like WoW no no it does not need to be like WoW and have raids like WoW.

And when I want to play a game like that I will play Rift.

To the OP I came from WoW. I started in like in 09 playing them game I enjoyed it up until after I did my first raid in Cata. I then got MoP there was a problem after I saw the trailer for it I did not get the same feeling from it that I got from WOTLK and Cata trailers. I did get the feeling of being happy and wanting something new from GW2.

I played WoW: MoP all the way up until two months ago because it hit me I was just racing to get to lvl 90 just to get new gear. I did that already in Cata when I hit lvl 85. I could not keep paying 15 dollars to do that

That’s what I love about GW2 and why I’m really getting into Rift sense it will be going free to play. I can come and go as I please and I don’t feel like I need to race to top lvl just to get the top gear just to do one raid after another. I did that all before in WoW: Cata I can not and will not do it again. So unless WoW goes free to play. I’m sticking with GW2 and Rift.

@cryforthemoon

are we really going to start who didn’t fix what cough nerco pet ai 8 months and counting. But I agree blizzard is killing WoW the only way WoW will die is due to them not another game tho, but what did u mean u cant level an alt at your own pace ? you can only level when you quest/kill I don’t get what u mean on that one can u explain ?

level 60 raids I wouldn’t want to pug with lvl 60s lol they are still kinda hard :P + fear spams, mind controls, use of tactics, the need for a frost mage ect it would be a wipe fest be lucky they don’t do it

Yes yes we are because after playing for six years I can tell you that MoP is a really really big let down. I had high hopes for it and it killed my love for WoW. All it is about is end game end game end game. And Yeah it would be fun to run really hard raids.

Oh and really you are comparing a game that came out in 2004 which is not even the same game any more to a game that is not even a year old.

That’s the funnesit thing I have ever read. What is even funnier is that you have three groups of people WoW fanboys, MMORPG fanboys and hate WoW, and then you have MMORPG fans.

I like WoW but I like the WoW that was out before Cata and MoP. I’m enjoying GW2 far more then WoW and I hope that ESO will be really good to.

your missing the point raids or other stuff WoW added more content than gw2 in the same time, Blizzard didn’t spam the web with CONTENT WORTH OF AN XPAC ?

most ppl who play WoW enjoy casual raids (LFR sees to that) as for your list there is no raiding guild that doesn’t make that list lol that’s what raids are about ppl.

No I played WoW because I used to like the game not because of the raids. It was not until MoP came out that I saw WoW for what it really is. It’s just all about being level 90 or 95 or what ever the next level will be and old content be kitten They should have just had it go WoW, BC, and WOTL.

Then Cata and MoP could just be WoW2 in which they add all the crap that they added more raids does not = better. It also does not mask the massive problems they have with the grinds and the cross realm they put in. Maybe if they fix there problems I will one day go back. Until then I’m done with WoW. I will stick with GW2 because I’m not being pushed to get to top level just so I can see so called end game raids.

Guys you are really being un fair, they are aware of the issue and will fix the problem very soon.

On top of that, you are complaining about Live one time event Content which is a step of a different direction than rehashed repeated boring contented of World of Warcraft which only provides content every 3 months and so call proclaim that it will never happen again.

Honestly people, no resources were wasted, the more different variety of content they can throw out for people to enjoy or try something different, makes the MMO much more alive than the current ones we know that are out dated.

well atleast WoW don’t call a patch a xpac worth of content.
since the living story came out WoW has 2 patches out 5.1 and the new raid teir 5.2 with 5.3 around the corner what did gw2 get ? 30mins worth of a story maybe per month?

And yet Blizz still will not fix the problems with cross realm and they don’t want you to play the old zones. No they just want you to play all the new stuff. Really they may be putting more out but you have to ask is it making the game better or wrose?

Blizz is killing WoW the way they are doing things and it won’t be long before more people get wise to what they are doing. I can’t even level any alt at my own speed any more. And for get aboutu queing for any low level raids no they don’t want you to do that.

Topic on End Game

I have played WoW for the past 6 years. Cata was the first time I really did the so called “endgame stuff”. I wanted to go back and level up another character. Here’s the problem I ran into I was handed out massive amounts of XP just so I would be pushed to level 85. :| Really what if I wanted to you know take my time. There is more to the game then just hitting max level and max gear level.

I won’t go into the other problems I’m having with WoW right now. But the fact the for me GW2 has a cap of lvl 80 right from the get go is a plus for me on top of that the fact that once I get one character to lvl 80 I can go and make another and get that one to 80 at my one pace and time is a big plus.

The fact that I can go to another starting zone and level and seeing that area with out feeling like it’s a bad thing while wanting to see the story is fun for me these past few days. If running raids to get max gear and then getting more max gear is you’re thing then I don’t know what to say other then there should be more to and MMORPG. “key words” there RPG (role playing game) then max level and max item level.
