capture the flag would be good. It would encourage people to try other builds specifically for the purpose of flag running.

Elementalist Downed State: An Objective Analysis

Downed state abilities should be different – that’s what is cool about them, but they all need to perform a similar function.

imo, ele NEEDS a 2-skill interrupt. Disguise it with whatever fluff animation or skill name, but it really needs to happen.

Upon consideration for tournament line-up’s, downed state skills are equally as important. In this sense, ele’s are far less likely to be played. They might perform well in x or y roll, but when downed, they have zero defense, unlike every other class in the game.

people need to suck it up and get defensive utilities that grant protection or stability. Or just dodge the right things.

Though, in 8v8, which is almost not worth mentioning, if you encounter a zerg of warriors and thieves, you are dead within seconds unless you are good at running yourkitten off.

Thieves, Mesmers & Guardians: Is Frustration an Element of Balance?

It’s hard to fix, because as you say, there are no number’s to consider. You can’t properly quantify nerfing a skill like decoy.

Hard to fix?Hard not to.Make the phantasms proper mirror images doing zero damage and shattering in 1 hit of anything. There you go,problem solved.Mesmer still has a ton of utility as well as the images to cause confusion.Everybody’s happy.

That’s a pretty harsh change – potentially this would make the mesmer completely underpowered lol.

Anet will probably change the mesmer somehow, like you said, but I’m sure it will be subtle or in small steps in efforts to maintain some kind of ‘balance’.

to the OP → Idk about LoL but in dota 2, if you face a naga, chaos knight, or basically any hero that benefits from manta (heroes that split to have 3-4 copies or items that copy your hero) it is oftentimes difficult to effectively deal with them.

Much like the mesmer in Guild Wars 2, it is mentally challenging, more-so than other classes to deal with. There is a sense of frustration. This is true of any stealth mechanics as well. It was psychologically tiresome and you run the risk of completely wasting skills on a clone.

Now I don’t think that makes the class OP, but I would say mesmer’s and thieves to a smaller degree take more mental awareness to fight. Because of this people get rolled in sPvP and naturally there are many complaints about them in the forums. Same as WoW rogues (stealth) and SWTOR’s Operatives (stealth).

I would like to see damage conditions being able to benefit from damage multipliers( like do 5% more damage while over 90% health). Or the ability for conditions to do critical damage. Since as you said, there is a lot of passive condition removal in PvP, requiring practically no effort from the opponent.
Actively trying to get a 10+ bleed stack or a 30sec poison duration on someone takes a fair amount of effort and is frustrating when its just auto-removed by a Guardian signet. That bit of extra damage might alleviate some of the frustration and bring some more variety to condition builds.

Taugrim, (idk if you know him or w/e) appears on a show on Gamebreaker TV talking about builds. To paraphrase him → Ofc there are many condition removals, the goal of a condition build is to overwhelm their removals. Rangers can throw up somewhere around 10-18 stacks of bleeds in about 5 seconds on very minimal cooldowns. At some point, your bleed will get removed, you just have to re-apply them and overwhelm them.

sweeping changes are never going to happen. That’s why they are slightly changing balance by small amounts to maybe 1 skill at a time.

I think the issue is mostly stacking mesmer’s. Sure 1 is easy enough to deal with. But most comp’s are running 2-3. Like a poster said earlier, when you portal in 4 mesmer’s and have an instant 20 man army, you can try to call assist target’s, aoe, or w/e, but you are still going to be rolled.

Elementalits - Buff?

Ele’s can actually rip your face off pretty hard if you run into a good one. I’ve had really good one’s take may face off in 2-3 seconds flat. However, i have also played an ele, in order to get good with them it takes tons of practice with numerous button presses, as well as extremely good positioning. The easiest way to tell how good an ele is, is by judging how long you see them running towards you and how long your still standing before being downed because you didn’t pre-prepare for the massive burst they are capable of.

Then the both of you are specced glass. More times than not, a glass ele is gonna die instantly when he runs into a 2v1 or even 2v2 for that matter.

As a die-hard ele from the start… once i switched to ranger… I realized at least for bleed builds, ele’s are very lacking.

Their downstate ability 2 is useless. At least as a ranger, I can stop one attempt to finish me. As an ele, once you are downed, you are dead. Lava Font on down can potentially damage the opponent enough to drop them as well, but it is stupid to rely on this.

As far as building glass. It can work, but other classes do it much better. An ele in glass has 10k-11k HP (extremely low) And if you build for toughness you are forced to build bleed, or you are just throwing 30 points into earth for the mere sake of toughness.

It is very limiting and I feel like some when I think other classes just do what ele’s can do, much better.

I have an answer: Run 2 Guardians 3 thiefs. Send 1 guardian to close point and let him afk there. Others go hard point which is usually mid. If you take mid leave another guardian there and then 3 thifs roam where ever help is needed and target 1 person for insta kills.

Seems like to me if you constantly strafe, the sharks can never actually hit you.

That’s how it goes in the PvE world against veteran mobs underwater. Usually it takes me somewhere in the ball-park of 5000 harpoon shots to kill one (lol) so I have to strafe forever.

It works similar in the PvP zone. Just strafe and shoot the enemy until they swim to the surface and become invulnerable.

Haste Stack and Time Warp

I was just wondering if you could stack the haste buff with say… Time Warp?

This way we could incentivize tPvP to be a configuration of 5 mesmer’s and not just 3.

Say, all 5 drop a Time Warp, which blue screens the opponent, sucks them into that blue screen, and they end up somewhere in the Jurassic Period, being chased by dinosaurs. (this of course being less brutal then facing a team of mesmer’s)
