You say that people who set requirements for their groups and don’t want to do end game content with complete noobs have overblown egos?

How about the Plebs who join a group that SPECIFICALLY says “Experienced” without bothering to even look up the fight on Dulfy, or watch a youtube video, and then flat out lie via ommission about their experience? Aren’t they the ones who are so self important that they actually get OUTRAGED and feel VICTIMIZED by the “omg elitist toxic community” who refuse to do the work for them and give them a free ride through content? That’s called entitlement.

Should we really feel bad for the guy who shows up and acts OBLIVIOUS to the fact that he’s jerking around nine other people and wasting their time? Because maybe he’ll get free loot and his priorities are more important than everyone else’s? Are we really supposed to feel bad for that guy? Really?

Look, if someone’s being a toxic elitist in a casual/training group, okay, they suck at life… But you got to draw the line somewhere… And for the record, if someone new to raiding really wants to improve their play, third party meters are THE MOST VALUABLE TOOL at their disposal.

When did I say this.. I didn’t say anything about the people who set requirements in LFG.. I have nothing against people who specify requirements in their LFG.. If they join a group with specifics that’s entirely on them if they can’t bring it.. they’re obviously on the wrong.

On the otherhand, there are alot of people who join unspecified groups acting all high and mighty demanding gear, builds and whatnot.. talking trash and even instigate kicking people for no good reason.. these are the people I refer to as abusive..

I’m not telling you to feel bad about anything either.. you are addressing me for things I did not say. o.O

I am one of those people who don’t mind helping out your so called “PLEBS” if it can be done.. I was helped by the community I encountered when I first started off in GW2 which really fast tracked my getting into the game.. It was inspiring and I am paying it forward. I do not expect anyone to do the same that is entirely on them.

I am merely stating the programs are being abused by abusive people.. nothing more and nothing less.

Lol such animosity over my post.. I’m just stating the fact that such programs are abused and this is in fact undeniably real. I just don’t like seeing people, specially the newbies who try really hard to get ostracized for one reason or another, specially over the blown up egos of people who think they’re better than other people. ^^ I remember a time when GW2 was so much friendlier and such things though not unheard of are quite minimal.

I suggest adjusting your build in accordance to your performance or the run..

Optimal Warrior PVE builds are actually glass.. and if you don’t have the proper party like a boon bunny and healer to back that up it’ll be tough.

Also if you’re a fairly new Warrior and not used to dodge timings and the Warrior skill set I strongly suggest you use a training wheels trait line like Defense before going full glass after getting more experienced.

Don’t mind the people demanding builds from you. They’re just noise, most of them can’t even actually play well, play at your pace and your own curve.

I believe the OP. This is actually a very real issue.

This is actually true for most people.. since most of the people who run cm run third party software to check out your dps, gear, etc.. and will auto-kick you should you perform below their standards. Besides that most groups also require you to already have done the run and have the title. Which makes it really hard to get the titles in the first place because its such a closed group.

ANET should really disallow third party software at the least. Its not healthy for the game. Specially for the new and/or casual players.

Oh.. didn’t notice that last line.. it does say reduced cooldown. (Sigh.. going blind in my old age.. QQ) =D Doesn’t reflect in the special tool tip tho unlike all the other traits with reduced cooldown.. =/

Can be 2 things I guess, either a typo and we aren’t supposed to get reduced cooldown.. (game has a history of misinforming tooltips T^T) or.. Its bugged and we supposed to get reduced cooldown. ^^ I hope its the latter too.. >:D

It is in-game.. it only says Increased Duration.. nowhere does it say Reduced Cooldown.

It says “Duration Increase” and does not say “Cooldown Reduced”. So it isn’t supposed to reduce the cooldown of stances. (“(^____^)”)

@babazhook: The stats and performance you mentioned are greatly exaggerated, so far all of your posts have been long winded but devoid of actual fact on the matter. It actually looks like you’re just arguing for the sake of arguing that you’re right and everyone else is wrong. xD

@Straegen.: I know there are counterplays to certain builds.. but skill only gets you so far and the advantages of full Dire and Trailblazer’s is quite undeniable.

Anyway I doubt anything said here will bring about change from Anet.

On topic my advice to the OP is just roll with it as mentioned by someone above. I know it gets old on the roam sometimes and honestly its not just the condi thieves either.. =p But hey.. its part of the game, any game for that matter. So chin up and when a Zerg rolls over their sorry ass kick em while they’re down. (“(>____<)”)

New expansion coming up, new mechanics and styles of play.. something to look forward to. **

Dire does NOT have the same damage output as zerker.

It CAN.. unless you don’t plan on using Conditions to deal damage.. lol.

Dire only has one stat that can increase damage. Vitality and toughness is for sustain.

Thats the point, Power builds have to invest in the holy trinity to deal damage competitively, Power, Precision, Ferocity.

While Condition builds only need Condition Damage and dump other stats for insane tanking ability.. 3k armor 20k++ HP while dealing damage high enough to compete with full glass Power builds.

I know about and completely agree with the advantages of teleports over our animation based mobility.. but do note our shorter cooldowns.. I don’t force chase into a bad position.. if he’s not within reach ex. going up a cliff, roof of a wall, then that’s that.. I’d try to bait him into terrain that favors me or terrain in which he has no advantage.. ever notice why Mesmers and Thieves like baiting fights to those narrow rooftops above the southern camps or ruins of Alpine BL.. They clearly hold the advantage in terrain. What I’m saying is being aware what you are and aren’t capable of given our current tools.. For sure those classes can kite you to oblivion if you stand your ground and fight.. but you’d stand a helluva lot better chance of fighting them when you burn their cooldowns because yours will be up sooner..

Our mobility in my opinion is very good, better than most others and for the most part at least far from overpowered too.

A Ranger I’d believe specially in open terrain, where their LB range can just pick you off, but turn through corners and use your short bursts of mobility and I highly doubt they’d get you before you reach a Keep or Tower from across the map. I’d like to see an Elementalist or Mesmer chase me down with GS+Sw/Sh on any terrain.

Edit.. An Elementalist with FGS can close the gap, but they won’t be able to lock you down and when they switch out of FGS to try and CC you the chase is over.. they won’t ever be able to catch up with you again..

LOL a Mesmer.. chasing you down and killing you on GS+Sw/Sh surely you kid? You’re either absurdly low health, meaning you disengaged too late.. burned through all of your Stances + Healing Signet, No Shield Block, and probably burned all your mobility chasing him while he stealthed and walked circles around you, meanwhile you burned all your mobility chasing air and landed nothing to even warrant consuming a Blink.. They can’t even really shatter you on the chase.. You will lose to a very good Mesmer 100% of the time in a standing fight even after perfectly dodging all their shatters.. but hell they can never chase you on the run unless you do some really stupid things..

As far as killing them is concerned.. if they are good opponents, its situational.. as it is situational for them to kill you if you are any good.. because no good player will ever play into an obvious disadvantage against an identifiable good opponent, and if they do they either have a decent counterplay strategy/gamble or they will most likely lose.

Edit 2.. I don’t really mind seeing OP Warriors.. NERF THEM ALL TO THE GROUND.. SPECIALLY !@#$ MESMERS.. so bias.. bwahahahahahaha >:D

While I disagree with much of his post, this bit you said here about warrior mobility hasn’t been true since June of 2015.

We did take a huge blow from the mobility nerfs.. but I still believe we’re 2nd only to Thieves when we commit to a mobile build. Just saying from personal experience.. I’ve yet to encounter a class that can chase me down on GS+Sw/Sh besides a Thief.. until I encounter otherwise I’ll stick with it.. just a personal opinion. ^^

Edit: Ah there’s actually the occasional Druid.. but its very dependent on terrain.. =/ I’m confident I’ll run circles around anything else..

Here’s the thing. THEY DON’T HAVE MORE MOBILITY THAN YOU.. if you think that you’re doing it wrong.. our cooldowns are faster.. specially when spec’ed.. Properly built Warriors are only 2nd to Thieves in mobility.. not only that we don’t actually use invaluable resources to move about. They need the Initiative for their weapon skills which is why they are in a deficit when on a commited chase.. You’re most likely wasting your mobility and are being toyed with..

There are many ways to get a fight in your own terms.. bait them into a chase, grab a Camp, lie in wait and ambush them.. even if they are aware enough to react fast they lose a bit of initiative. If they stealth and you feel you have no advantage don’t just sit there run.. get them to commit to you then turn on them.. etc.. There are countless counterplays to be made.. Based from your description people are running circles around you. =D

Among all the classes you mentioned I only ever have problems with Condi Mesmers in Dire/Trailblazer’s to be honest, the rest are fair game. If I simply back off.. they can’t touch me let alone kill me.. even the best of them.

Necros have Reaper #2 on a 7 sec cooldown.. its not much but its something btw.. and have you fought the really good Necros? Who use Flesh Worm.. Spectral Walk.. I’ll feel sorry for you actually.. >:D

Here’s a more realistic answer to your problem.. ^^

If you find that you can’t catch someone or are forced to chase someone into a bad position.. why would you do so? As a skilled and experienced WvWer.. move on, reset, pick a fight on your own terms.

If you play into the hands of a good opponent you’re likely dead.

Likewise if you’re as good a player as you’re letting on they’re dead if they play into yours.

Axe 5.. the description sounds terribly like Axe 5.. and I don’t see that being overpowered any time soon.. so probably wouldn’t hurt. o____O

100b also got its damage reduced from past nerfs if i recall, also the big hits come at the end of the channel. It hardly sees any use in a real fight.. people only use the first 1-4 hits anyway then cancel to WW or swap.. which is like at most 2 auto-attacks worth of damage lolx..

You actually answered your own question already..

You CAN’T outrun most people in WvW with just Greatsword mobility alone.. specially experienced roamers who prioritize mobility in their builds *cough you can be one of those guys fyi..

You CAN run Sword with your GS to further improve your mobility, you CAN also slot skills like Bull Rush. Rampage and/or Sundering Leap which can also be used as mobility options.. finally you CAN then run traits like Forceful Greatsword, Blademaster and/or or Peak Performance to reduce the cooldowns of your mobility skills.

This limits your build options somewhat so its a bit frustrating, but it is also a fair trade-off..

Edit.. the only class you mentioned that can actually catch up with you is Thief.. and it eats up a lot of their resources to do so, once at a fairly safe distance from the mob simply turn around stun them and whack them.. they’ll die in a few hits specially since their slot skills are on CD and initiative drained from chasing you.

Edit..2 Another thing to note. You might be disengaging too late.. learn to identify your vulnerabilities and threshold. Even the most experienced and mobile of Warriors have a bad day every once in a while.. GAME SENSE OFF..

Sarcasm aside..

When dealing with a Warrior you take it one step at a time, stances have a very long cooldown.. if you say.. just stand there and go toe to toe.. that’s just poor judgement..

If you’re saying your class lacks the mechanics and defenses to successfully kite and outsustain a Warrior (specially a pure melee one).. then you better start watching some videos to start you off..

Condi Warrior is pretty strong whichever kind, but then, all Condi builds are really strong at the moment and Warrior’s not even no.1 on that list.. so hardly OP.

WvW - beating a thief?

The thing with fighting any good Thief is they’ll just reset on you when things turn sketchy and come back at you while you’re on your cooldowns..

Something I personally like to do is have them spend initiative on the chase, then turn around on them. This also catches most less skillful Thieves unaware.. if you get lucky you can delete em’ in just 1 go.. ^^

Edit: Just something to add.. Use your Resistance buffs for the moments when you’re confident gonna land a sure burst rotation, or even when they decide to go toe to toe. Thieves are fairly confident about going in on you while you’re Blinded.. This is mostly a great time to catch them, while they’re focused on their offense. If you’re full Zerk then they’re as good as gone.. Hope this helps..

Also something to note is that a lot (AND I DO MEAN A LOT!!) of people have the galls to refer to Warrior as simple and easy to play.. but can’t scratch an ambient rabbit with it..

As for beginner tips.. basic Warrior game play has revolved mostly around Discipline and Defense trait lines as far as I can remember, more experienced Warriors dump the Defense trait line in favor of more damage in both PvP/WvW and PvE but you’ve got to be confident and know what you’re doing by that point..

We have a lot of weapons!! ^____^ I personally have fun with all the various setups and mix-ups. this way.. I never get bored.. NEVER!! (“(>____<)”)

More tips:
- Learn the art of staying alive.. This will be your bread and butter in all game modes!! The proper use and timing of dodges, passive defenses, active defenses and knowing when to run away.. YES RUN AWAY..!! ^____^

- Discover the various synergies between weapon skills and hone yourself to have the attention/concentration to chain them mid-combat and off cooldowns.

I kind of understand where you’re coming from.. think of it this way.. I’m guessing you’ve played other mmos much like most of us so base it on your experience.

Balance has always and probably will always be questionable/unreachable I have yet to see a truly balanced 1:1 per class scenario in any game. They try to design and tune it as such but it may be a practical impossibility. I don’t know for sure, I’m just saying this out of experience really.

Just play it to the best of your ability and have fun with it, every win is a WIN when you’re the underdog. ^^

When you truly tire of it and feel it unreasonable or you’re just not having fun anymore (Mesmers *cough good Mesmers) try rolling another class.. I know the pains of re-arming a whole new character to end game but it’d probably be worth it at that point. ^____^

Also as much as we want to affect game design, balance, etc.. (LOOTS!! T____T) we don’t really have a say in it.. just hope that ANET slips on a banana peel to the ideal direction.. (BUFF WARRIORS MOAR!!) (“(>____<)”)

Hey guys.. just wondering here.. I’ve been bounced up and down, in and out more than I can remember in Balanced Stance, Last Stand, Eternal Champion, Rampage etc etc.. and am at my wit’s end trying to put heads and tails on the current variant of Stability..

Here is the gist of it.. I am sure I still have plentiful stacks of Stability.. yet I am bounced around like a rag doll.. even in simple small to medium scale fights. I am also sure that I wasn’t chained by overwhelmingly large amounts of cc in some fights..

example just recently while stomping a Reaper I popped Balanced Stance preemptively and probably got hit by the downstate Fear.. (-1 Stack) then was successfully pulled off by a Dragon Hunter’s followup F1 and I was sure I had 2 stacks of Stability at the start of it..

Also isn’t there a .75 second duration where they can’t strip Stability after they just took 1 off me.. I’m not entirely sure how that works but shouldn’t we be immune to stuns during that window? Yet I’ve been flipping lke a pancake in some fights.. without any skills becoming available in between stuns/cc. =/

Has this been fixed or rather is this a recurring issue.. I’ve been experiencing this for a few days now.. think it started after i did -repair on my gw2.. bought a new mouse didn’t fix the problem, also uninstalled and re-installed all mouse drivers to no avail.

I’m not entirely sure where your sPvP Condi Mesmers went.. but all I see in WvW are Condi Mesmers so.. o____O

Don’t think I’ve ever met a decent Mesmer who’s had problems mowing down a Warrior either, regardless of build.. can kite em’ for days.. the bad ones.. get eaten alive tho.. ^____^

Personally if I were to choose, I’d sacrifice Defense over Discipline.. in my perspective with Defense you’d die just the same anyway, just slower.. I’d rather make the gamble press with the consistent pressure I am able to apply running the Discipline tree.

Stances on bar + Dodges.. not much difference just less time and less margins for error to do it.. so just do it.. >:D

But thats me, play what you want.. if it works, it works.. =D

Bugged Hero Points in WvW

Hello, I used Proof of Heroics to get the Hero Points of one of my Guardian and I encountered a problem. I found that I am missing 6 Hero Points despite unlocking all the available hero points, total leftover points should be 364 while I only have 358.

I checked my map completion and I have 189/189 + the 11 in Silverwastes and Dry Top in Tyria and the 400 points from Maguuma, also when I hover over each map example Sparkfly Fen or Auric Basin.. etc.. it says I completed the HP in said area 6/6 I did this for all areas.

When I go into WvW however.. I notice that in 2 Borderlands the Hero Points are not revealed in the map all 6 of them in total.. (I’m guessing this is the 6 I am missing) when I go to the respective Hero Points to get them.. it says that I already have the Hero Point.. but the Hero Point still remains undiscovered on the map..

What I don’t get is why they keep nerfing power based attacks to the ground while allowing conditions to go on like this with impunity..

for power.. to work, people need to invest in 3 stats, Power, Precision and Ferocity, lacking in any would take its toll in either damage or consistency, allowing little room for survivability in stats.. meanwhile condition builds dish out competitively similar amounts of damage while only having to invest in Condition Damage, dumping the rest into survivability stats like Toughness and Vitality..

A person in PVT or even Knights gear can hardly dent a glass cannon while a person in Dire can down someone with 20k+ hp in 3 counts or less.. while having around 3k toughness and 20k+ hp themselves.. absurd.

Its not even a comparison.

As for cleanses, most cleanses are weak and are often on a long cooldown.. people who know what they’re doing will force you to cleanse and they’ll simply reapply a huge stack and there is simply no counterplay to this, you don’t cleanse you die, you cleanse its as expected and you still die.. unless of course you run a very very specific cleansing build with a full bar of cleanses and traits to spare in which case good for you.. thats how you play gw2.. oh so fun..

Longbow for PvP

Longbow’s F1 has actually been nerfed terribly recently, I wouldn’t recommend it.

Unless you can force them to sit on the fire field or they are foolish enough to do so, the output is just horrible, the ticks on damage and burning is just too slow to be of much worth, you’ll probably get 1 hit in and 1 burn stack at best, for a full 3 adrenaline bar investment thats about it.

Also as mentioned the Burning is very easy to cleanse.

Hate it when Anet decides to kill certain Weapons and Builds.. you end up with dead gear specially if you invest in Ascended ones. They should really think these things through..

Yes.. I would agree with this.. also there is a problem with the Burning it applies I think if people step out of it immediately it applies 1 stack Burning thats it.. the Guardian’s Purging Flames puts 3 stacks on you immediately just by being hit.. and we get 1 stack and done.. niiiiice.. =D This is old news though.. Anet has a history of destroying skills they tone down, better just put it on a prayer for the future. (“(^____^)”)

I only use Longbow for a condi-build I use on the side, when i get bored.. so I didn’t really emphasize on it much.. I believe many of us are power based mainly which is why there were really few complaints.. Torch isn’t exactly working as advertised either.. Torch 4 only hits the same target 2x, edit: and the power scaling on that thing is INSANELY LOW, completely unusable by power classes.

Warrior’s seen really bad days, I’m just glad the recent patch did us good.. considering how long Warrior’s were in the gutter since the release of HoT..

The points made are actually good.. but I don’t know, maybe they truly want Warriors to be weak to simple (and I do mean SIMPLE) disengage. I mean.. all any decent enemy gotta do is back off when we pop our stances and/or poke/outsustain us to death.. been like that since the beginning and hasn’t changed..

We also took big hits to our mobility in the past (reduced range and increased cd on GS and Sword skills) and we have little to no chase potential besides those 2 weapons even today and we are stuck running at least one of those 2 sets or we’ll be walking pincushions.

Given their design direction, for a class they expect to “just sit there and take it” Warriros are severely lacking in lasting heals and defenses compared to every other class, Warriors are probably the worse at this.

I agree that damage reduction is one of the routes to go.. and more blocks/reflects.. for defenses. Or just make our critical hits in melee unblockable.. rewarding us for sticking close to our enemies.. >:D Magic shields blocking BIG kitten weapon strikes.. SIMPLY UNHEARD OF.. *whistling nonchalantly.. >__o__>

I’d prefer they focus on Warrior’s other weapons, traitlines and skills.. make those options more viable.. diversify our build options. Other classes can use this love as well.

Headbutt is ok.. I wish it gave Adrenaline even if it was blocked though.. in fact I’d like it to self-stun even if it missed for the chance to proc Rousing Resilience.. ^____^

Its more of a hit or miss kinda skill.. make an opening for it or go bust and try agian..

I formerly ran full Rabid gear and it worked out quite well for me, I recently made the change to full Dire with Dire+Rabid Jewelry and Backpiece relying on Fury for about 30% Critical Chance and its working out nicely.

You can get Ascended and Exotic variants of either.. to be honest the difference between Ascended and Exotic gear in terms of performance is still marginally quite low.. so unless you plan on min-maxing.. you can safely stick with the cheaper Exotic gear until you can commit.

Personally, I didn’t like Rampager when I used it.. the performance was rather.. lackluster for me. You can always go to Heart of the Mist first and crunch some numbers, see how it feels before you go shopping/crafting. ^_^

Warrior Skills/Traits scale horribly with the Healing Power stat.. besides probably Vigorous Shouts (as a substat gives about 1.5k bonus healing per shout)..

As for mobility you will find GS + Sw/Sh alone is enough to make you very formidable in mobility when used properly..

Most condition classes are hard encounters because:
-Dire and like sets make them tanky while being able to dish out damage just as good as anyone in full Berserker gear or simillar. This is where power builds really lose out to condition builds.

-Nobody will run around with a board full of condition clears that’d be really silly, meaning they’d just reapply after they pop your initial defenses. Apply 3-4 conditions during their big burst while you hope you clear the life threatening ones. Just burst you down slowly in set bursts. or reapply conditions relentlessly that it doesn’t really matter if you clear or not.

-They have their own special class mechanics to back this up and most of which are on lower cooldowns than whatever defenses Warrior has.. Boons, Blinds, Blocks, CCs, Healing, Shroud, Stealth etc..

What if they added a 4th line?

A 4th trait line is appealing, definitely has its pros and cons..

I would really like to see some major changes/improvement to the more unused trait-lines/traits and skills.. that would definitely diversify build choices and roles.

The recent changes were great tho.. so I’m gonna be a happy panda til the next major changes.. (“(^____^)”)

My Charr Warrior’s eyebrows still protrude through Mistward Headwrap.. and I wish Asura medium cultural armor didn’t shave my toon’s head.. *cry..

Someday.. the game state will be perfect and they can pay attention to fixing the cosmetics.. (“(^____^)”)
