Yes, if we could only stop people from playing this game to “have fun” all our problems would go away.
Go to work if you wanna have fun! Leave gaming for the serious folks!
There are PvP modes than allow you to have fun without screwing over player that are actually playing ranked for what it is, i.e. a competitive form of PvP where the goal is winning. If your goal is just to troll, be sarcastic without any argumentation, and bring nothing useful or noteworthy to the discussion, maybe you should not post.
I get toxic in PvP sometimes, and I know I should not, but when you get into sapphire/ruby/diamond level ranked matches and you still have people that screw your team over because they don’t want to cap points and would rather test their build on people off-point, there are many reasons to be upset. I’m just out of a game in which:
- two of the players disconnected to change classes 5 secs before the beginning of the game, and only got back 45 seconds into the game; the result was that we spent 45 seconds with only three players, and were 100 points behind after the first couple minutes because there was no way we could get mid or far 2v4-5, and we could barely keep close.
- Those same two players spent their time not even fighting people off point, just running around there for no reason, for the last 2 minutes of the game, resulting in us losing all points and losing the game while we had managed to get back in the lead by more than 50 points.
This kind of behavior is, in my humble opinion, more toxic than people flaming you for being yourself toxic to the team, and I will report them for both idling, and match manipulation; yet I know those guys won’t even get a temporary ban from ranked PvP, so what’s the point? I get upset and I tell them what I really think of them. As long as this kind of stuff keeps happening even in intermediary to high-level ranked PvP games, I’m pretty sure I won’t be the only one losing my temper over people screwing you over because it’s “fun” to them; there are even people that play in games for the sole purpose of trolling their teams and making them lose. It should be the case that if you play ranked, you have to play seriously, ow be temporarily banned from the leagues. Plain refusing to communicate with your team and doing whatever you want without consulting or listening to your teammates is unacceptable behavior in serious ranked matches. If you want to play for fun and not have to worry about weighting your team down, you can play unranked.
I avoided all traps and did not get the achievement, and the skill that I get when using the mordremoth controllers’ skill does not do any damage to the mordrem wolves, making the achievement pretty much impossible to complete. Anyone with the same issue, and any chance a fix is coming up soon? Thanks!
I suggest you start changing your build and your gear if you cannot beat the game solo – other than some hero points that require beating a champion in less than 5 minutes (and even a few of those can be done solo). As many other players said, the game is largely soloable, the difficulty has just been taken up a notch, and that still does not make the game “hard”. Also, make sure you to use your dodges at the right times… it can take you from dying in 5 seconds to beating the game in a heartbeat.

“Come on guys, 400 is an insane amount.”
400 points is 40 hero challenges (each is giving 10 points), and that’s the worst case that you’ll only be in if you don’t have any hero point right now. You most likely will only have to complete about 20-25ish of them if you’ve played the original game.

“People saying, “You can play the game with normal specialization, it’s fine, you’ll get it after you do everything, once, it’ll just take longer”.
This is like buying a brand spanking new car and then someone tells you:
“Wait, you have to learn how to drive this old crappy machine you’ve been driving for years while earning stamps for every checkpoint you drive past, but don’t worry, you get 10 stamps per checkpoint, oh , but every checkpoint requires you to have learned a new language, so you can talk to the cashier.”
But everyone their own i guess.”
Those kinds of comparisons with things that have absolutely nothing in common with a video game can always be tweaked any way you want. You could have said something in the lines of “I’ve just bought a brand new, fancy guitar, but that doesn’t make me a guitar player. Now let me practice several hours a week for a couple years until I actually know how to play it”, and it would have been pretty much as valid of a point as yours.

That’s why it’s called an “elite” specialization. You have to work to get it. Did you guys think you would start HoT with almost everything already unlocked? The point is that you’re leveling your character through the game.
“We have to play-through the whole Maguuma on all our characters, rush the map as fast as possible, just to unlock kittenable elite spec.”
No, you don’t have to. The game is fully playable with the usual specs, and you can unlock elite specs as you play the HoT campaign… Really, people need to stop with this instant gratification mindset – the point of a game is that you don’t have everything handed over to you on a plate within the first 5 minutes.
I’ve had the same issue too. Ran into the skritt burglar twice in the past few days, and could never get the loot. I had the problem in Gendarran and Wayfarer.
This is because some of the collections are hidden and you need a special item to unlock it first? Though some of them honestly just seem to be bugged to me.

Sorry if it was a compliment, I took it as irony. The “kitten” and way you were speaking in general made me think it was sarcasm, I’m sorry if I was wrong
Story closed then, and I apologize for my misunderstanding. I hope it didn’t offend you too much!
Celestina ==> I really like the look It gives a refined, kind of royal impression. I really like the blue/gold combinations in general, provided the right dyes are used !
joelice ==> a bit too shiny for me, and I find the shoulders a bit too big (not a huge fan of this shoulder skin). Pretty nice otherwise
Went for a simple look with my elementalist, based on a mix of aurora and diviner armor. It feels like something is missing to make her look as I want though, but I’m not sure what.
My charr mesmer (yes you heard well) was made just for the joke. I think the word for this is <irony>fantastic <\irony>. He looks like some circus beast hahaha.
I’m going to change the set when I get any better anyway…
Yeah, this helmet is definitely a failure… I’m actually not wearing helmets in general, I’m one of those guys who prefer seeing the character’s facial features. But I totally agree anyway, this helmet is a huge, huge fail. It doesn’t fit half of the races, and even if it did, nobody would want to wear it… Though I don’t find the rest that bad, and I don’t understand why many people do.
I actually haven’t seen the chest piece on males with decent dye combinations. Do you have a picture of it? I’d be curious to see if it’s that awful, and if that can make me change my mind on the set as a whole.
Redstar ==> I actually like the thing dangling in the middle, though I can totally see why you would not like it. I’m not shocked by the back of the pants, since I used to have worse. But I would definitely get rid of that turtleneck if I could. It’s kind of annoying indeed, though I don’t see it too much from the back as it’s partly hidden by my guardian’s hair.
Thanks for showing you can be smart by expressing and elaborating opinions, instead of mocking the people you’re talking to. Useless posts are not welcome here, could you at least make the effort to write more than one sentence, with arguments or at least impressions in it?
No wonder the GW2 community is considered as one of the worst…
Probably because I was searching for skins topics for my next armor sets on my other characters, and I happen to run into that one (through the search options). I’d understand if you find this ugly, though I still find still better than many heavy sets I’ve seen out there. I haven’t found a heavy set I’m fully satisfied with for female characters anyway.
Can you show me a charr version?..
The gear is ugly.
Huge gap between legs and boots from behind.
Shoulders are lame.
Chest have to many stripes what makes the details hard to see and looks weird from distant.
And the pants cloth part (banner thing) only looks nice on female human.. (you should check this on charr.. Haha soo ugly)
Haven’t tried on Charr, but honestly, the only one I actually find decent so far are the ones designed specifically for charrs, i.e. the cultural ones. Would not be surprised if this specific set looked worse than usual on charr, and I agree that Anet needs to do something about the asura/charr skins in general… they’re just adapting human skins to races that look anything but human instead of specifically re-designing the sets for those races, and that’s a huge pain.
I actually see all the details, but maybe that’s because I’m playing in ultra setting and max resolution For the gap, do you mean with a charr? I don’t see any on human/norn/sylvari.
I’ll disagree with 99% of the people here: ascended armors don’t look ugly because they were poorly designed, but because people have extremely poor choices of dyes. Here is what ascended armors really look like:
You look rich as kitten, yo, royalty. Das some ceremonial kitten right there.
Thanks for the troll, you-who’s-so-much-smarter-than-me, but isn’t that the point of a guardian, looking ceremonial? (Also, I thought it was the point of a skin that’s called “illustrious”). Rather than looking like a big kitten tank with ugly spikes everywhere? You might not have the same tastes as me, but this is honestly one of the 5% of heavy armor skins I find actually decent. I prefer looking over-the-top rich as kitten than looking like a burning mass of kikoolol muscles: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/File:Flame_Legion_armor_(heavy)_human_male_front.jpg
Note: ascended headpiece is ugly as hell, and I’ll never wear it. Shoulders will be replaced, I don’t especially like them.
