Buying HOT in Japan

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Hello,

I purchased HOT in Japan.
The safest way is to purchase directly from the website here. (Upper right corner under SHOP). They take Japanese credit cards. Just make sure your country is set to Japan.

I would be careful of purchasing from a third party site. It may be more expensive, more likely to be hacked and even possibly the account key you get may be for a hacked account that will get you banned.

I have no idea why support would tell you to go to Amazon. GW2 has always been purchaseable from the website, even if you are in Japan. I have never had any problems buying from the site or in-game shop. There is zero reason for you to go to Amazon or any other site.

GW2 on a Surface Pro 3

I’ve been playing GW2 on a Surface Pro 2 for about 5 months now. Haven’t ever had issues. The fan runs, sure. It gets a bit hot, yes. But sometimes I’ve played all day and it still is running fine. In fact, I just got off farming trees for the backpiece and I’ll probably be back on to farm again. I’ve done all of Season 2’s current content and for a time ran dungeons on a regular basis without issues. Definitely have never had issues with lag or anything otherwise. The only time I saw bad lag was when I was on crappy mobile tethering.

Swift Wings achievement not doable

I used a lot of control like knockback and fear and such and was able to get them to focus aggro on me after which I led them away. Got the achievement first try (after some frustration of looking for the one dude stashed away inside the tower). Blinds are also a fun way to do things but that only works on the wolves because everything else just spams dot aoes.

Its something about those characters that don’t seem to gel together.

I think they know it too. When Belinda says she’s looking foward to spending time with the Biconics, Marjory drily tells her that she probably won’t think that way after a few days with them.

Crown Shard disappointment

I believe the story itself was properly laid out. Whether or not you like what happened is up to you.

Some points:

-The crown was broken into pieces and then hidden.

-Rytlock said that the charr (they’ve had how many hundreds of years?) found the pieces but they were “mishandled” and taken and/or lost again. Meaning, the pieces are probably easier to find than if we were to go looking for their original resting places

-As was pointed out previously, finding one piece allows you to sense the other pieces. They attract each other like magnets. If there is anything to complain about, it’s that Rytlock did the really hard part for you and already found one piece. He also explained that he came to this and the ritual after spending a lot of time buried in books with Priory scholars.

-The events themselves, if done with only a few people can be somewhat challenging and are interesting in their own right.

The problems where:

1. Day 1 bugs where the events didn’t happen at all or bugged out.

2. So many people wanted to run through the story you end up with large zergs rolling through said events. Mega-servers only compounded this problem.

3. You could potentially show up just as an event ended and all you had to do was walk up to the pile and press F. This has more to do with the way open world events work. A workaround obviously could be if you could only see or interact with the pile if you got participation credit in the event. But that could then lead to people complaining that they had participated but the event never gave them credit, etc.

—World 2 Zone 3

So I worked my way through Zone 2, then went on to Zone 3.

Scaled my way up and around the mountain, managed to get the torch that you need to open the ice walls, dashed my way past the blowing wind, took an extremely long time making my way up the vertical jumping puzzles, pushed the portals to where I could use them, slid my way around the ice spikes, figured out how to open the stairs (with some help from the mountain goats!), scaled my way up past some angry bears, jumped along clouds in a blizzard’s whiteout conditions, had pushed boxes until I could scale up to shoot down icicles, jumped on said icicles…

Evon.. while people are not worried about the future now. I don’t see anything good in the future with Evon. He’s greedy and will do anything to make more money. If he’s elected, I wouldn’t be surprised if he builds a casino right in the middle of LA.
Not to mention that he’s the kind of guy that would most likely break his promises non stop.

I just want to point out that there is already a casino in the middle of LA. His name is Zommoros.

I have successfully managed to avoid all AoEs for 3 consecutive runs and still have not gotten the achievement, while my party-mate who was knocked around a bit for being the “lightning rod” as we like to call him for bringing Mai’s buff down got it on the second run. Definitely feel like there is something wrong here.

Edit Oh by the way, I’m not asking for nerfs or having it “toned down”. I just would like clarification on the achievement if possible, and/or if there is something wrong with it, to have it fixed. I’m personally gonna run all tomorrow before I go on vacation (for 2 weeks!) and try it. If it doesn’t go, then that’s just the way the dice falls.

Faster than light achievement

Actually ran this 5 times today and each time it became a little easier. Got the achievement on the second go but, you begin to learn little things like, using stability the first time the low walls come around, running the 2nd time, then the third time, watch behind you, see the low wall. Run about 1/3 of the room around and climb up again. All the while kiting the golems. I actually soloed the last one without using stability the last time I did the dungeon.

Know what reference I can’t get enough of?

The fact that shopkeepers ENCOURAGE you to smash their pots and furniture! Well played parody of people in Link’s Awakening complaining about you breaking their stuff.

“Yes! Smash it! I always hated that thing!”

and Josh you definitely got the Mario/Zelda mix down, I’ve actually been wondering if there are retro games that get that mix like that that have been released for systems.

Josh you think in future worlds we’ll get a better primary weapon than the stick?

There is a running joke in our community mumble about how the shopkeeper is going to end up being the actual final boss because of all these adventurers coming threw and breaking their stuff. xD

^ As stated above. I’ll just throw in that I’ve been in Japan on and off for the past year. Never had an issue aside from the usual authentication for access to the game from a new location. My ISPs in Japan have never mentioned anything either.

Risk v reward / awful drop rates

in The Lost Shores

Well. The drop rates ARE quite bad. I was mostly farming for the new crafting that you can do. I killed 150 (tracking through the achievement for monthly) and ended up with…6? seriously. That’s really low rates.
