I don’t care if you don’t think the loot changes being discussed were important? For someone talking about drawing conclusions and kitten on the internet you somehow misinterpreted my whole point despite Ferguson being quite clear about the loot issue in the interview.

As to map changes, I don’t care if they didn’t give any specific date on map changes? My disappointment is not dependent on a specific date. People have been wanting to know the changes that were going to be implemented for a long time, since December as a matter of fact. Now we have a confirmation no new maps in this patch and no news as to what the fixes actually will be in this patch. The crickets chirping in this forum every time someone asks questions that result in an infraction are not encouraging either.

  • No new map: Shouldn’t have expected this since it has not even been discussed. (So you’re complaining about a non-thing that no one promised you nor should you have expected.)
  • No loot changes: You’ve drawn a blanket conclusion by ignoring the question, what was asked was: “loot can not be placed directly in the inventory” and answered with a: “no” (and frankly this isn’t exactly a pressing issue), this does not preclude loot changes (considering that the progression system itself is partly about loot changes, this makes the statement you made an extension on a point that wasn’t made).
  • No culling fix: No date was given.
  • No queues fix: Yes, this one indeed is valid.

Meanwhile you missed the one thing that actually been a hot topic for a while:

  • Orbs will be replaced by something else, but that may or may not arrive in March.

Anyway,

-People have been talking about map changes, especially the lake area. Anet has been saying they are looking at changes to wvw to help alleviate certain issues which map changes would help fix. We have no map changes confirmed now and no news as to what other changes, if any, they have planned for this patch.

-I was quite aware of the loot issue he was addressing.

-I don’t care about whether or not a date for culling was given. I’m not digging through dev notes but I swear they said it would be in 2 patches, Jan 28th and the wvw patch coming up but whatever. That’s irrelevant because as Ferguson admits it is (or should be despite what they are actually working on) the 1st issue fixed before anything else gets finished. If they can’t afford more programmers, the other programmers that have the ability to work on culling should be taken off their current assignments to help fix it as far as I’m concerned.

You can do that with a sub game too. Un sub til fixes are implemented then resub. People bought the game to play this winter, at least I did. The devs fed us interview after interview preaching about how important wvw would be. I even gave them the benefit of the doubt for oh……almost 7 months. pssssssssh

Well that’s as good as any statement people have been asking for imo.

No new maps, no culling fix, no loot changes, no queue fixes. Just a progression system we have no details on yet and titles and here they’ve been telling us since December that it is SUCH A HUDGE UPDATE. I’m about done checking in to see the changes even.

Sorry, for some people a title over their head and new armor looks are last on the list of things to fix in wvw. Personally, those things matter zero to me and just because I think supply perks aren’t going to help draw people to continue playing doesn’t mean I want overpowered skills or anything like that. Culling, bug fixes, wvw mechanics working instead of simply removed (orbs anyone?!), and things that actually improve game play are what I am waiting to hear about. If they just implement titles and armor skins and skills like extra supply and don’t actually address the issues people have been griping about people will be even more disappointed imo.

Anet is literally running this game into the ground and i have a feeling it’s intentional. GW2 is a box sales game and the less people that continue to play the better / cheaper it is for Anet. All hey need to do is keep some people interested and hype up the next expansion to reel customers back in.

With Anet’s complete lack of communication towards WvW in the several months since release I am inclined to agree. I’d even go as far as to start to wonder if all the “support” and instant patches during beta were just to encourage people to think this game would be supported more. Release hit and kitten went downhill starting with Orr quests bugged for weeks, then orb hackings, etc. The quest in Orr escorting the lady to the gorilla veteran was back in the game after 5 months when they patched in January. I saw it run about a day and haven’t seen it again.

I think the big issue is will these abilities change anything wrt to wvw in it’s current state. I don’t foresee people wanting to keep dealing with the current state of wvw just to be able to provide a few extra supply sometime down the road. Get orbs or something back in the game for kitten’s sake. For a business that got everyone to buy in to their dev chats about how serious and committed they were to wvw, I’m pretty disappointed atm.

I think more of the issue with night capping isn’t just the points accumulated at night. It takes the less populated server much of the day to make up ground to get their points back to even and by that time the night crew of the other server is ready to go back to work. So there are times when they aren’t making up ground points-wise even though they may be winning the fights at them moment. Anet should be able to adjust scoring accordingly so that there are “momentum” bonuses or something. I haven’t thought about this a lot because I wasn’t playing the game for the last part of 2012 but something should be done imo.

I never claimed anything really. We were discussing YOUR claim that even a martial arts master couldn’t handle 3 dudes. Not 3 athletic guys, but 3 dudes with the most basic coordination which is el oh el. This means, in statistical terms that you believe the chance of one “normal non-martial art master” dude beating up more than 1 person is pretty much non-existent which is also lol.

If 3 people jumped one martial arts master, unless this martial arts master can easily lift 400-500 lbs (roughly three peoples’ weight) they’re going to crush him (literally, they could just sit on him and he wouldn’t be able to do much), even if they have no fighting skill at all, just the most basic form of coordination.

Sorry, those are both terrible analogies, and no I don’t mean Sumo as in size. I mean if three people were to grab the limbs of one guy and hold him down he’d be helpless. Of course they’d have to get over their initial fear of the “mystical martial artist” but that’s a psychological disadvantage, not a physical one. Anyways, you notice how in movies the 1vX fights always have the one guy fighting one person at a time while the rest circle around menacingly? Yeah, there’s a reason for that; one big reason is cause the one dude isn’t usually capable of realistically keeping up a sustained defense against multiple persistent attackers.

no one has ever beaten up more than 1 person! mmmkay What happens if 3 dudes try and grab a guys arms and he breaks their kittenn noses? I’ve seen a guy beat up 4 people like it was nothing. I’ve seen 5 trained officers try and detain a dude who beat up a few and ran away. He wasn’t a martial artist, he was a drunk. Cmon dude.

He’s not complaining about a 2v1, read the post before commenting. He’s saying that JQ doesn’t give up regardless of 2v1, outmanned, less skill, whatever you want to call it over the last 3 months.

What he really means is “Never fear, our night crew will soon be here.”

Seriously, I wonder how we’re #1 sometimes. Friday was an example. EB was a farm fest and JQ was running around like chickens with their heads cut off. I used to think the night capping would solve itself but seeing how bad some JQ groups run while remaining #1 means other servers are even worse or night crews are causing a lot more of the leads/advantages than people are willing to let on.

They made them this way so they took more skill than spamming a button. You can still use pistols and get aoe and dots with them. Now, I do think spamming #1 grenade and connecting every time with them should do more damage than spamming #1 pistol since it takes more skill but I never really use pistols so I’m not sure the differences. In other words, if anything, complain about their damage, not to make them auto-target.

entitled whining mkay. I admit I ripped on whiners in past games but people have every right to complain here. Anet assured people wvw was a priority and people paid based on that. We have had no updates to a broken wvw which has even had key features disabled (orbs).

People defending the invisible fighting are hilarious. I mean, by all measures wvw is essentially broken and anet (who supposedly put pvp on a pedestal) has made us wait 5 to 6 months for hopefully a fix. we dont even know if it will work. If wvw was / is important this would have been priority number 1 and nothing would have been added til it was fixed.

If I net someone to kill them and switch back to grenade to aoe more people, the skill goes on CD. It’s (the kit refinement barrage) is not always available when I want it unless I don’t switch to grenade until someone is on my kitten This is also assuming I’m fighting in WvW and saving my grenade barrage for people in melee range….not usually. Sure, it’s nice to have when it’s available but it’s on CD a lot of the time just because of the nature at which I swap in and out of kits. Same with Box of Nails. If Slick Shoes and normal tool kit slow are on CD I’m praying that the kit refinement skill Box of Nails is available when I switch back to tool kit and block.

LOL at this build being new. I thought this is what everyone ran in WvW for the most part. I’ve been playing it since launch. It’s not as good as it used to be. Grenade from refinement or whatever is on a CD which can be hit/miss if you switch kits to get speedy kits or switch from rifle and back to grenades when slowing people, so nerfing it would be pretty lol. Not to mention I use tool kit to drop box of nails or whatever when I am getting away and Slick Shoes is on CD.

Honestly, if you are running around waiting for someone to get up next to you so you can pull this off and not switching back and forth between kits/rifle/etc. you are probably pretty bad.

I doubt I’d sPVP with this build either.

It seemed like the problem ANet had with AoE damage was in regards to downed players getting their health melted by constant AoE, which seems ridiculous to me.

This is the way I understood the reasoning as well. Which, correct me if I’m wrong, means that they don’t want your aoe to be able to either 1. down the player doing the rezzing; 2. kill the downed player trying to get rezzed; or 3. both

I don’t get it tbh. I thought that is why some classes had the ability to instant rez to their location, throw elixir to rez, etc.

Also, I quit this fall sometime and coming back after the grenade nerf is pretty crappy. I can still do alright vs. idiots clumped up at gates and stuff but the aoe done to people in zerg vs. zerg open skirmishes before they easily retreat and heal up is laughable. It’s the same when trying to harass people running around the outside of the walls. You used to be able to do some damage, stun them and get a kill. It’s almost futile now unless they are complete morons. The 1500 range isn’t even worth it really unless you are guaranteed they are bunched up like a mofo and you don’t have to lead moving targets, etc. There’s no reward for hitting them even.

I’m just not feelin’ the other specs I’ve tried since comn’ back either.

PVE is a deadzone. After trying out WvW to see what was up with the culling and finding out engineers blow kitten even more now, I decided to jump on an alt and hit up a chain DE in the Harathi Hinterlands that used to be awesome for xp and drops. It ran across a good part of the map too.

Zone is dead as hell, and there is no way that chain of DEs is ever getting finished again unless a guild decides to level up together or something. It couldn’t even be finished without a good 10+ people contributing if I remember right. What a waste.

So, in these games in the past where people had to turn off spell effects (many of which clued you into as what spells/builds they were using) to get a playable game, there were no disadvantages?

In most of the games I’ve played where that is an option it was mandatory to have it off to be competitive. Fancy spell effects throw out tons of useless information when all you need is the lowest setting to get the graphical indications on what is going on. Unless, of course, giant glowy balls of light are the only graphical indication anything is being done.

Completely ignoring culling and even though my system can handle it, I’d still turn off spell effects if it was an option because it’d be easier to see more important things like red circles on the ground

If you had a crappy rig. Kind of hard to “block/dash/dodge/etc. when you see him cast x spell” with them off. Many games, like this one, have you waiting to see them cast their big attacks to dodge/block/etc. How many times do I hear how easy xxxx class is to beat? “Just wait for them to cast xxxx and dodge noob” In this game I don’t usually dodge the largest attacks by looking for red circles. I have enough toughness aoe isn’t an issue.

Irrelevant? It’s absolutely relevant. Every game I just listed is a popular western MMO, and every single one had hardware-dependent performance issues, that were resolved in various ways by the various development teams.

No still irrelevant, you do not require a top end hand built PC for a MMORPG to be playable (unless you want to alienate most of your market), the tiny advantage someone may gain from being able to run at 60 FPS compared to 40, FPS or having a screen with 2 ms response as a opposed to 5ms, is in no way comparable to the disadvantage people would be under playing an incomplete game where some people could see the opposing players and others could not.

I could go and dig out my old PC from the cupboard and would still be able to PvP fine in WoW, LOTRO, etc on it on lower settings or using a low res download and not be faced with a disadvantage like you are suggesting people should play with in GW2 (invisible players).

As for your “playable” comment: Do you think WvWvW, with all its current culling problems, is “playable” now?

Not especially, which is why they are working on it, much better they actually solve the issue properly, rather than band-aid over it, but then WvW has more serious issues than culling…

I’m not sure why I need to explain human nature here. When one side has an advantage that the other can’t achieve, they will quit.

Kind of like how everyone quit over the last few months because of invisi-thief wvw?

Look, I love the ‘think of the pooors’ appeal to emotion but adding a controller to give people with better systems the ability to actually see the players is ummmmm what’s it called? Oh yea, the way a game is supposed to work.

I think we should just have all video settings at low since some people can’t run them at high as well. Great idea.

I appreciate the post but this is dumb. Many people who own a decent computer aren’t playing the game now because it is unplayable. Let them turn down the rendering or something. I came back during the holidays to try the game out and it’s still invisi-wvw.

I might have noticed projectile finishers removing conditions if super elixir doesn’t remove condition every second. I thought I read that it did somewhere. Either way I don’t have problems with conditions using those and using the trait giving constant super elixir removes a ton of conditions from people in your area if they are simply using projectile finishers.

I understand that the Devs really don’t want people to swap to another weapon, but why not?

Why not make the secondary weapon slot a place to put kits instead? If you want a second kit then it can go on the utility slots. Currently Engineers are down one utility slot and tbh that’s hurts a lot. I’d love to put a condition removal or gtfo gadget in that extra utility slot.

Looks at elixir gun condi removal (and other utilities), med pac condition removal (and fury/swiftness buff) while still using rifle and two other kits. I have no idea what your problem is.

We held Dreaming Bay for 3 days this week. L2repair and defend keeps.

The other major difference was that aoe could hold off FAR more people in DAoC. I would love for the limit to go up in WvW from 5 to 10 or 15. This would allow for more door down defence.

Haha people actually think they should just be able to run around in whatever build they want (glass cannon) and live through focus fire and stacked aoes. You can build better, you can run in coordinated groups that use shields/condition removals, etc. etc. etc.

Build accordingly and quit complaining. Some people realize going all power isn’t the best in wvw and build for survivability. I have a lot of toughness and arrow carts and aoe don’t bother me at all.

Guy above me just mashes it instead of giving it a simple double tap and ends up in rifle when he wanted to be in grenade. IT’s your fault he can’t figure out these simple things Anet! ARggggggggggg!

A large portion of events and skill points in Orr have been bugged on our server SINCE FRIDAY.

Why hasn’t anything been done yet? I mean, I just want to log in to wvw but I have to wait in these stupid queue things. You expect me to stand at the few working events with all the botters? WTH? Every day since I’ve waited for a server reset/patch but nothing.
