If you could please check out whats going on in the WvW forums. I know that people are on vacation and/or working on HoT but we could use some help in WvW.
Iv’e seen a lot of posts lately of people who want to leave as soon as they find something like WvW in another game. No other game really offers anything like WvW right now but some look to be in development. You could be losing people soon.
They need to ban the accounts they actually care about. Their Main on their home server. Match the Ip’s to their main account. You know they sent their alt gold, probably from their main account. Atleast that or make them play through a VPN.
The people that do these things do them because there is little consequence.
I think they are on vacation.
The sad truth is that these tourneys bring out the worst in people.
You have commanders that are tapped directly into what the other commander is saying while having a blob with siege and also paying a spy to drain supply. You also have tag watchers who are directly calling out where the commander is going in ts. If that doesn’t work then you pay someone to ddos the commander. If that doesn’t work then they form guilds on other servers in order to have two servers in the same comms. Then why quit there! Just do it all the time, no tourney needed.
They just take it too far and they use it as some type of sadistic release. I think they rationalize it somehow by thinking its “just a game” but taking on the level they do says more about their character. All the while the sheep that follow them are the ones that allow the abuse to perpetuate.
I don’t have to say any server names or call out any guilds. I don’t have to because you know who im talking about. Now tell me why is that?

I think the people who are saying this will be “different” yada yada, don’t actually play WvW. They think its just like another PvE update that has a little different flavor.
In WvW people play for entire servers. The player base plays frequently and we take play seriously. You are just putting more control players have over other players. This is not an even playing field because its a “pay to win” event. Everyone who can afford it can buy golems and blobs who have them will just cause the other team to leave map.
So why exactly would you promote an event that encourages other players to not play????
Please get back to monitoring WvW grievance reports. Its obvious that someone has been out of town and/or busy. We need someone to look at “botting” reports in real time. Thank you
This will only make big blobs stronger. I think the “no siege” required idea should be re-examined. The event itself is a bad idea but I don’t think there is a chance of getting rid of it, although I hope there is. In the future I would suggest bouncing ideas off the Anet reps who play WvW during their lunch break. They may have a little more experience when it comes to designing WvW events.
It would be a joke of a game if its shared across all servers. That’s not fair at all.
Is it 100% for sure that all servers can have the same amount of people on map? Or is this more of a “meet the demand” kind of thing. It seems like a queued map for some servers is lower. Are there any hacks people use to get more people on map?
The skill lag in T1 WvW is really bad. It seems to increase when certain guilds are on map.
What if there was a way to turn combo fields on/off individually on skills?
Everyone seems to have maybe one or two combo fields they don’t really want/need. What comes to mind the most is guardian symbol of swiftness. The light field gets in the way of water and fire fields. Guardian hammer auto-attack also has this problem at times.
At the moment I think there is only room on the Tarnished Coast for T1. Doesn’t have the queues like other servers.
I knew it! GvG through guild halls Anet listened!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Your PvE gear is also your WvW gear.
The only way to extract cost 250 gems and we have never seen a perma-extractor in the gem store. Its never really worth it so we just end up overwriting and wasting runes/sigils. If we want to try new things it becomes so difficult.
Would it be possible to just remove the restriction alltogether? Free to extract runes/sigils? That would open the game up more. We have some new content coming and that would make it so much of a better experience considering the huge amount of new builds that are coming.
When rangers got buffed many people were playing them but other people adapted as well with reflects. How long did it take rangers to realize wall of reflection was a skill? Some still have no idea but as a whole they have gotten a lot better. People just need to adapt.
They are working on new technology thats going to work across all regions. This is going to open up the game to new possibilities like a world wvw tournament.
WvWvW is a war simulation. Its a very good one in fact. Once you get into this it brings about a unique experience that is very hard to duplicate. Coordinating your skills with a team over voice communications vs other groups is fun as hell. Its the most fun iv’e had in any game. Once you get into WvWvW you kind of wonder what you saw in slaying a monster that just shows up in the same spot over and over again. People from all over the world are playing this game and they come from a variety of backgrounds. I know for a fact that some people who play wvw work or have worked in intelligence which makes sense because its a war simulation. Point being you are going to find something like no other!!

The only thing I would as would be, has the 2vs1 blob meta been considered in the design of the map?? Waypoint placement is key. Have you thought about a healing phase in addition to the damage phase of the oasis?
Resist the urge to role play and stare at tool tips. We have to put these servers to the test! Attack anything that’s red. Spam skills wildly like a crazy person! We have to mimic wvw zerg battles as much as possible.
Lets face it, anet is aiming high these days. They have some high quality content they have been working on for quite a while. The bar is set high. After we get our gvg arenas in our guild halls I think they will make a new tournament.

I was wondering how many people are used on beta wvw maps? The queue size is set to what it is and it looks like its a technical limitation and/or it changes according to server stress. The reality in Tier 1 wvw is 200+ person battles. That’s everyone in one spot having a three way. I know not everyone gets to experience this orgy of skill lag but hey one could only be hopeful right?? The skill lag has been persistent for as long as I can remember in these 200 person battles. The new map is going to bring lot of new people to wvw so its going to spread beyond T1 and occur more regularly.
The design of a new map has to absolutely consider 200 person battles. The new meta is everyone gets 2v1 on their bl when there are full map queues. Its only natural if two points are taken and one remains. No one gets to own their own garrison on reset night, its just trade after trade.
There are so many problems and dynamics that do not present themselves in small groups of 20 in wvw. You really need to stress test with 80vs80vs80.
This needs to be play tested by over 200 person battles before the features are finalized. WvW is an entirely different game when you have more than a few dozen which is what it looks like they designed the map with.
The new PvE dynamic is way out of left field. We thought the hyleks or dredge were what we thought of as “PvE” in wvw and the community has had a gripe over that forever.

Thats how it feels. Now the PvE is something we have to deal with and cannot go around. Its not the immersive experience we were after, we can do that in Tyria. It attacks all objectives? what kind of damage are we talking about?
But most importantly, Why do the direct opposite of what the community asks for?? I mean I can understand a little different, but why specifically the direct opposite?

I think Michael simply stating that he can see who placed siege would make a huge impact regardless if its true or not.
I know that guild taunted us but I don’t think they knew what was going to happen and how fast. I remember one of their guild members voluntarily saying a ban only happens for 24hrs the first time. This could or could not be true but I really think they had an old impression of GM response. This was a 24hr response and I think it shows a sincere attempt on anets part to address this issue.
I think this is a great outcome Michael and we really appreciate your response time. I just want to clarify a few things. What seems like happened now at this point went like this.
- Earlier in day, Individual drops siege could or could not be related to guild
- Middle of day., Guild comes in and owns it, ticks siege, ports in just before siege decay counter runs out several times. Makes claims about “helping” etc..
-Investigation begins later in day.
The false claims thing comes from the behavior the guild took in maintaining the siege, and not as a result of an abuse of the reporting system. I think the reporting system worked perfectly in this situation.
So what could have happened is that a guild just wanted to take advantage of a situation to troll yet not really understand the implications. In hindsight I don’t think they would risk accounts with 14k achievement points.

This won’t happen because its basically a gvg which is not currently supported. I did think of something today. Its a speculative thought…..
What if through our guild halls we are able to gvg? Like a guild arena. Now that would be some surprise!!!
I don’t think 5 people can represent a “guild” in a guild vs guild to be fair. It’s just another spvp map.
The definition the guild wars community uses is a matchup 15vs15 or 20vs20. I use the word “community” intentionally because people spend their time making websites and videos of their non-official matches. I know everyone want to dis on people who like to gvg but most of the time I think its because they cant take part in it personally. If there was more access to way to have true guild vs guild battles then I think the people who don’t play could get to try it.
Memories of zerg battles dont give fair respect to a gvg. You never have equal numbers on a wvw map, but the real match between guilds have a respected 15vs15 or 20vs20 match. There is no system that keeps it at those numbers but people respect it because they care.
First I would like to say that I think the anet team had a great presentation. Accidents happen and I don’t think its anyone’s fault. I think its kind of funny that many people have stated that there wasn’t much to see. However, if you look closely!!
Sequence of events on the youtube video.
9:32- User “Pop” arrives on screen. Has environmental rifle equipped.
10:18- Pop goes mist form and attacks with sword. Doesnt seem to warp but moves very quickly towards target and then attacks. This could be sword skill 3. It looks like Pop is a Sword/Dagger Revenant.
10:23- Warrior begins to walk away and get Pop off screen.
On the twitch stream I saw a ready up scheduled for the 30th. Since the new changes are going live on the 27th I think this means new info would also involve the expansion.
They are making a PvP mode that is almost identical to the original GvG in Guild Wars 1.
The fact that a tiny group of people in WvW have decided to call 20v20 clashes GvG is not really ArenaNets problem.
People have been asking for GW1 like GvG since release, and now they are getting it.

The WvW community was already having GvGs without even knowing. Your guild against my guild taking Stonemist castle is a GvG technically. Sure there are pugs around though.
This WvW GvG community say that the 20v20 deathmatch takes skill. IMO the only skill that you need in this deathmatch is preparation of builds and gear stats.
The actual gameplay of the WvW gvg community plays out like this……

So if a baseball team want a new stadium…..
“We play on dirt and have no field think we can get something new?”
“You have a stadium! Those trees are a wall there…and look over there, that group of logs is the stands!! People can still sit on them whats the difference!”

The team has won many tournaments and brought the franchise lots of money.
Numerous GvG videos have been posted throughout the years and it has brought Anet tons of exposure. They have brought Anet Money. $$$$
We just want a basic system to GvG any guild we want and not in PvP mode. By making a new mode and trying to pass it off as a gvg system it’s just a snub to a very dedicated player base. Anet has even asked for WvW videos before and that shows that they know they have an impact. We know that you know that the videos are there. Why not support how the community uses the game? Just because its used in a “non intended” way since launch? We are just going to end up using Stronghold in its “non intended” way.
You are making a new competitive game mode. Instead of using how the community uses a system and building upon it you make something completely different and ignore how the community uses something. I dont understand. There was something already there waiting for support but it was just straight up snubbed. How is this an efficient use of resources?
Would it be possible to raise the cap on how many guilds you can be in? The idea of customization is very appealing but people can’t get in if there are guild caps. People are going to want a server guild hall with their own special customizations. We need to be able to join more guilds to take advantage of this exciting new content!
How will the new stronghold system work? Will it help our gvg situation? What I was hoping for out of a new competitive mode.
The ability to challenge any guild in your respective region to a match of up to at least 20 vs 20. This match can be open ended with rules set by the participants. This match can take place in a map with WvW stats. This can be done through the stronghold system if this option is not available. The community has been waiting for the matchmaking opportunity with WvW stats.
The current ways to gvg are as follows.
-Set up something within your current wvw matchup, usually either in obsidian sanctum or south camp on a borderland.
-Set up a match in Eotm by getting into the same seed through rival commanders partying up. You have to be on opposing colors.
There are numerous videos of this traditional very basic community run match style. Please let us have this very basic system. If you let guilds queue up against each other then some of us are going to do this.
-Both guilds queue up from any server in their region.
-Get into the stronghold map
-Ignore all points and objectives meet in middle or neutral zone of map.
-Play normal gvg using any built in timer the game mode may have.
-Stay until match is over, usually best of 7.
-Leave game mode
This alone is better than nothing at all and it would be easy to work with. You could however cater towards it and allow for a more basic option within the game mode.
Youtube is filled with gvg videos and I think guild wars 2 gets a lot of exposure this way. GvG players are a dedicated player base. We love the game and we are going to love the new content!
………It was 2015 which began as a great year for arena net. They released an expansion and not only that they delivered a truly global battle that will go down in history. It was inevitable with the release of gw2 China. And then there were 3 regions. Something happened that no one thought would be technologically possible but arena net pulled it off flawlessly.

Thank you anet for such a rewarding update to end the year with! It was highly rewarding for me because of the passive reward system. I didnt have to go to an area and farm for specific loot. I also noticed that I am getting more tomes now! Now this may seem silly but I have had no real access to tomes before this last update. I play mostly WvW and not really much Pve or PVP. But this brings me to another point.
Dropping tomes in WvW also helps the under level problem because it gives level 80’s the ability to level other toons if they play WvW exclusively. This keeps more under levels off the field.

Any type of debuffs will just be worked around. These are determined individuals who enjoy lies and deception as main activities. Dont believe what they tell you. Making their job take longer wont work because they are getting paid anyway! Just ban them!
Ok yes ban them. Then see if they have alt accounts on the same ip and send them warning letters. Its these alt main accounts on their home servers that they really care about.
I think we are going too far in talking about adding new or changing existing features of the game. The only features in this case that need to be implemented are a better and smarter reporting system. We are talking about a very small minority of individuals and independent mass reporting of individuals shouldn’t be too difficult to investigate. Please dont change gameplay over a few people. This could change the whole culture of “reporting doesnt do anything” and help restore the faith.

This happened last night. This is an individual who has admitted to being paid by a rival server to do this. There really should be no confusion as to why these people are doing this. Dozens of people have reported this person for over a year and anet has done nothing.
We had this problem on BG some time ago with a person named Manual Breathing.
Anet Devs have told us in the past to report that person for spamming.
Edit: Yes they came and took care of it personally, it took about a day.
This is the kind of thing that bothers me because it seems as though anet likes to intervene on some servers more than others. No troll has ever been dealt with in a day on TC.
This is going on right now. They even use a macro to get supply before anyone else can as it respawns so it effectively makes it so you cant use the camp.
If they catch you then they catch you and that should be it. I mean if this is a real war simulation you have to give people the ability to defend against it. We need a legitimate way of dealing with it otherwise its just going to make a toxic atmosphere.
I really don’t believe these are single individuals acting alone on their own behalf. This is part of an elaborate system that has a “win at all costs” attitude. An account that is intentionally bought and paid for to drive players away from the game. I highly doubt that blends well with anets business model.
Anet, please can we get some idea of what you are going to do about trolls in WvW? One of the benefits of the lockout period is that atleast some trolls had to wait a week. I know for a fact that certain individuals got hundreds of reports and I still saw them weeks later. You could totally tell that there was no one even looking at the in game reporting feature, it was so obvious. There were also numerous support tickets.
Will you please allocate a few support staff to respond to mass reporting of accounts in WvW and can you please react in a timely manner?
GG anet just sold a bunch of commander tags. Could this be a win/win? Could it be??
I think the color coordination will probably be made in voice comms. Maybe a channel for each color/squad. We wont have to “join squad” as much.
Its frustrating because here we are trying to take a knee and get honest. We get no reply or most importantly we don’t get any feedback on what we can do. Server identities are real and have the ability to come together and help anet solve problems regardless of the fact that there is only one wvw dev. It doesnt have to be this way but theres no real way of communicating. Forget the Q&A.
Server communities could easily prioritize main issues regarding wvw and compile them into a format that is easily understood. Either through polls or discussions with guild groups,etc.. Then on the fipside we can also identify all of the things we like about WvW and also provide that information in a way thats needed. The point being using the community as a resource.
Once the main issues are identified you really have something to work with. You can prioritize issues that can be fixed and integrated into ongoing development. WvW doesnt have to take any resources away from ongoing development but work more in a parallel with the living story.
One example could be like this….You now know what everyone likes about wvw for the most part and you also know some of the main issues people have. So maybe one issue is that people are kind of burnt out on the wvw layouts and want something new but not a lot of pve content. So integrate the living story into moving around objectives or buffs similiar to bloodlust and you have a win/win. You have to understand the amount of hype is generated by the wvw player base. Anything you give to them has to bring massive sales.
Im sure there are many more just like these. They were reported numerous times in numerous ways and nothing ever happened to them. Its sad to say this is a very low priority even though it blocks progress and violates the TOS. The following were trolls on TC, more thank likely from either blackgate or jade quarry. But really who cares where they are from….its poor sportsmanship plain and simple. I would report anyone from my team doing the same.
