SO you don’t care the new person recieves the expansion.. and we are both paying 50 dollars, so what do you want? You guys are comparing yourselves to monkeys and saying its unfair compared to the new players.

We can both buy the expansion right now for 50$ and get brand new accounts, theres the fair deal.

Instead you are mad that someone new who never played the game after 3 years of existence will get it for free because it makes their life alittle easier.

The problem is you guys want to be better than the new player and want some kind of attention to show this dominance, just like APES!

You already have the account, they refuse to open you the same one again.

You and the new customer have the exact same service. But you are upset / jealous they receive this exclusive offer… Instead you can just be happy for them and wish them the best of luck.

We do not get the same service, as I said before, were I to buy the expansion I get HoT (I have already paid for my account), whereas a new user gets GW2 + HoT
that is clearly not the same thing
Why can’t I get the same product? The fact that I have bought an account beforehand does not change the current situation

I have nothing against potential new users, and I wish them the best of luck indeed, but that is simply not fair

You can buy the same package deal and get the exact same service, but instead you are asking for something special thats not being offered.

You’re not considering alot of things like you bought the game full price so you can play early. That the game depreciates over time.

Its cruel you want to take something away from someone new so you can feel better. Its very childish.

I hope anet doesn’t give in. Because you can either take it or leave it

Your comparisons make no sense.
This isn’t some discount/bargain sale like the ones they did so far

Yeah this is a discount, exclusive sale for NEW PLAYERS

While the product bought was the same, since it was bought during different timeframes, it was perfectly reasonable to have discounts.
But now both veterans and new players are buying the exact same product – that is, Heart of Thorns – at the same time, from the same place, at the same price.
And both should receive the same thing – a copy of the base game, and the expansion.

You can receive the core game if you wish for that core game to be attached to the expansion, JUST LIKE the new person who is doing the EXACT SAME THING.

the difference is equal opportunity:
during the designated period everyone can receive and account in the bank for free
in this case however not everyone can receive a free copy of the core game

i had explained it quite thoroughly i believe

You already have the account, they refuse to open you the same one again.

You and the new customer have the exact same service. But you are upset / jealous they receive this exclusive offer… Instead you can just be happy for them and wish them the best of luck.

It’s an exclusive offer and a common practice in business.

The bank has periods of time where you can open a certain account for free, like a waterhouse account, or high savings account. Someone might have opened one a few years ago and missed that offer, but still has the same services as the person who will receive it for free today.

Between those years the person who missed the offer got to build their credit, receive interest and save their money. But the new person must start from the ground up.

This is the exact same situation here.

So tell me where the difference is.

Stop Calling HoT an expansion!

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Define expansion:

the action of becoming larger or more extensive.

Guild halls (with tons of features), new maps, events, rewards, new WvW, Gliders, LS Season.

Expansion Confirmed.

Either way the original game is being expanded, much larger, more features.

This deal is fair. The Expansion costs 50 dollars (simple as that, exclusive offer or not it would cost 50$). The core is an exclusive offer to new players so they are all set up without confusion.

Exclusive offers are perfectly normal under specific conditions.

The real problem is that people are jealous their don’t qualify for the core game.

Its like when you go to the bank. If you’re an existing customer great… but for our new customers we have a contest when you sign up you get a tablet for free. TD Bank does this all the time. But I guess people feel empowered over the internet to take charge and disrespect the game and developers without realizing these are people with families and careers, dedicating all their time to this project.

What they did in terms of the bundle is a common practice. An exclusive offer, strategy used to bring new customers. This matter needs to be viewed in a business standpoint. The real world outside your 4 little walls.

Your weekly flyers have sales: From specific dates. if you buy the item before or after those dates you maybe out of luck.. and for those 3 years early… you got the game 3 years early. It’s so simple to understand.

It’s not directly about the FAQ change, it’s about the result of the FAQ change, and for many of us basically being ripped off.

Yes. Yes it is. Which is barely even related to updating the FAQ so people reading it now and in the future don’t get mislead.

Like said by others you can twist the FAQ situation anyway you want, and you are entitled to your own opinion, but it doesn’t change the fact that some of us were cheated.

Why don’t you contact support and let us know how that goes. Their only a click away.

you’ve missed the point entirely.

No. The blind outrage has missed the point. The expectation that ArenaNet can see through time with perfect clarity misses the point (and is pretty dang laughable considering they still don’t known when they’re going to release but people act like they had this all planned out from the outset…). That people are ignoring that ArenaNet has expressed a desire to make things right for people who bought the game recently misses the point.

Asking people to focus on the problem and not get wrapped around the axel that the FAQ stayed current with released information is most definitively NOT missing the point.

That’s just it, this wasn’t some unforeseen future that just crept up and hit them in the face, it was a conscious decision they made. There was no need to foresee the future, they didn’t need to see through time, they said one thing and then did another consciously.

You underestimate the effort it takes to coordinate a games release. There is so much going on, and with E3 that just passed one day ago.. They updated this FAQ as soon as possible and addressed the forums and those who had concerns about already purchasing the game.

People like you won’t let it go and are making so many excuses. If you don’t like the direction of the game / company, then why are you still here? Because your negativity won’t change anything it only makes it worse with this dirty propaganda. You have a choice here, either take it or leave it.

Then why did they not announce it to the community when they changed the FAQ then?

It came down to players retrieving cached web pages before they admitted they changed it.

They displayed it on their official shop page. How more public can that get. They are doing new players a very generous offer. There was no bad intentions, but the community is getting carried away.

It was also posted on twitter and facebook.

That they decided to make the base game a pack-in does leave them with having to deal with customers who acted based on the old info up to a point (because we don’t know WHEN they decided they’d throw in) but keeping the FAQ current with public information is something to be encouraged, not scorned…

Agreeed.

They are updating their information, its what they need to do over time. We should appreciate these things.

It is not a BOB2
it is a expansion for BOB, and BOB never gets old.
No where in the challange did i mention anything about BOB crafting, having materials, achivement point or amount of gems gotten from gold to gem or purchased from the makers of BOB to help making BOB better.

Sorry but dont see any answeer to the challange in this responce

Your challenge is terrible like I already said. It has nothing to do with the reality and dimensions of the actual situation.

The core game for free to new players is a nice gesture.

Show me the link where I can download the base game for free. Hint: There isn’t one.

It’s not a nice gesture. It’s a product included in a bundle and given an arbitrary estimated value of $0.

I would say the vets still have the advantage, they were able to play and progress throughout the game for 3 years.

And they paid $60 for that “privilege”, Anet didn’t do them any favours.

The core game comes free with the pre order, look it up on their official facebook.

Yeah it’s great we all bought the game early but they are helping new players, and not obligated to offer us anything. 3 LS and EoTM has been a blast.

evoRobot.4019

Haha, this is a terrible. Bob will get old and the new Bob2 will come out soon.

How can you use this example to measure the 3 years between Bob and Bob2?

How can you measure the progression you made compared to someone who will just get Bob2?

How can you measure the free content Bob gave you that Bob2 will not offer.

Both paid the same amount, but who really got to play the game more, progress and craft items, who will have the advantage on Bob2?

The guy who just got Bob or the guy who first at Bob and is waiting for Bob2?

Did you even consider like almost everything else in the world that Bob will depreciate. And in order for people to play the X-pack that businesses have to offer some kind of incentive to new players.

Who wants to join an MMO where all the players are stacked with mats and gold, have the upper curve of the game and know what to look forward too. It bad alone pugs get harassed in dungeons because they weren’t here from the start.

I am a Vet player, I have 2 accounts over 12K AP, probably 1000+ hours clocked in. This community has become so toxic we forgot about the good. If it continues it will turn into a L for everyone.

I don’t think the complainers are unanimous. Some want gems, others want slots, some are mad about newbies. Others don’t like the price.

The only valid argument here is the price because of the limited amount of information about the X-pack.

The core game for free to new players is a nice gesture. It’s understandable if existing players cannot receive the core game unless they want to create a new account. Otherwise they can add the X-Pack to their currently existing account.

In terms of cost, after 3 years… video games depreciate fast… go to EB Games and see for yourself. So new players are not gaining alot, I would say the vets still have the advantage, they were able to play and progress throughout the game for 3 years!

Edit: People who recently bought the game should also be considered for some type of expansion arrangement.

The 50 dollars you paid for your 5 character slots on the core game is now worth 10 – 40 dollars. So why should you be compensated further after playing the game for 3 years. What game compensates users after 3 years of a one time purchase? You’re lucky they didn’t create a new game altogether.

You post this like Factions and Nightfall don’t exist.

Haha yeah, it existed 10 years ago… Times have changed, businesses change, its 2015, get with the time baby.

Yeah, in 2015 90% of MMOs are F2P with cash shop. Most Subscription MMOs tank.
As ultimately opposed to 2005-2008 When Most (good) MMOs were subscribed.
So yes, good example.

LOL! SO why are you here? I don’t need to convince you with an example. From the start Arena Net said they are trying their own unique model.. SO here it, enjoy! Or goodbye!

The white knighting you’re doing is absolutely disgusting. A-Net is ripping all the current players off with the pricing, and without compensation via gem store stuff, they may be finding Maguuma to be far less busy than they hoped.

LOL! A company worth millions of dollars with professional in business and management doesn’t need a white knight. You sir are too used to spending your days on the computer world of the internetz.

Without compensation via gem store stuff.. LOL come on dude. Why do you deserve free money.

Ironic your username has Maguuma and your ready to slay the Xpac 3 months before release. I can’t tell if you’re troll or not, lets hope troll.

I’d have changed to just Lavafrost, but I wasn’t aware when I made this account name. I’ve played GW1 and obtained 30/50 in the HoM. It’s also not about free money, it’s about the price being unfair to loyal customers (heck, even people who bought the game days before HoT was announced).

It’s not unfair, it’s pretty simple. Xpac is 50 bucks. Comes with the core game for free (which valued at low point $10).

2 -3 Years from now, do you expect another compensation because you jumped the gun and bought HoT at full price on release.

If 2-3 from now we get an expansion that requires and comes with core game, and HoT and I already own both then I expect a $15 discount at minimum.

Otherwise it’s like a car dealer that requires a trade in that they pay $0 on, and gives you a shiny new car for $50k. But if you don’t currently own a car you get the shiny new one for the same $50k.

But you’re not trading anything in.. You get to keep your car.. and you get the new one..

Not to mention that you can’t even compare the 3 years of progress you made in the game to a car.

Everyone who wants the core game free, pre purchase HoT and there you go.

The new player is not gaining anything, Anet is nice enough to offer the complimentary core game for free with pre-purchase. The game is roughly worth ($10) at lowest selling point and you need to consider depreciation for the game after 3 years!

All in all the X-pack is 50$. Its fair to question the value, but it ends there. The core value of the game has not been included in the $50.

If you wanna play a deserted game. Offer Anet to ban all veterans. Obviously you don’t understand the concept of customer loyalty.

You’re still here so there doing something right. After 3 LS for free and countless updates, and if you have something to complain about then you should realize you’re just being selfish. Loyalty works two ways. One time you have the choice to purchase something, so you can or not.

You got something.. You got to keep the game for 3 years without a sub and free living stories throughout the 3 years without being forced to pay.

If you are weak for cosmetics from the gem store, at the time you paid for something you valued.

Don’t use your past contributions to justify the new Xpac. You made those decisions based on what you valued at that time.

Like I said, the Xpac is $50. and new players get the core game for free as bonus.

Someone who never experienced the game is saving $10… whats the big deal.

Okay let’s change the angle:
What happens before doesn’t matter right ?
So why new player should have the core game for free ?

Who said “what happened before doesn’t matter”. I said don’t justify what you think the price should be based on your past contributions, ie. if you bought gems.

The game is worth 10 dollars, based on the lowest sale point, and depreciation for the past 3 years. But Anet has chosen to give it to new players for free.

If you are weak for cosmetics from the gem store, at the time you paid for something you valued.
Don’t use your past contributions to justify the new Xpac. You made those decisions based on what you valued at that time.

So what I valued during these three year, doesn’t justify the XPAC.
Okay fine.

But new player that didn’t value the game at all get it for free in deal with the Xpac?

You still don’t see where this is wrong ?

Customer retention is the activity that a selling organization undertakes in order to reduce customer defections.
Successful customer retention starts with the first contact an organization has with a customer and continues throughout the entire lifetime of a relationship.

A company’s ability to attract and retain new customers, is not only related to its product or services, but strongly related to the way it services its existing customers and the reputation it creates within and across the marketplace.

From wikipedia.

Anet pulled a m****finger on every veteran with that move.

I won’t even dwelve into the FAQ situation because this one is litteraly a breach of trust. We are supposed to believe what written in these by a company but Anet just changed before a major annoucement.

This two things together will naturally upset a lot of veterans.

I’m not saying what you valued doesn’t matter. But if you went ahead and spent ridiculous amounts of money on hats and skins because that’s what you wanted. Then the money you spent went towards what you valued in those items. It has nothing to do with the Xpac.

As far as I know, Anet has wonderful customer retention. You receive the title “veteran player” for sticking with the game for so long. Maybe 3 seasons of living story for FREE. Countless updates, patches, birthday gifts, gold to gem conversion, world boss updates, and EoTM is not enough for you. That’s where the title changes from “Veteran player” to “Greedy Veteran”.

We have to accept $50 is the price of the XPAC, for now. And it would be hard to give EVERYONE a FREE character slot.. that’s like 4 million slots to hand out, imagine the costs of servers and maintenance, utilities, electricity just to uphold that.

I’m sure they have more to release about the Xpac, new content etc… MAYBE a huge surprise towards the official release.

Someone who never experienced the game is saving $10… whats the big deal.

Here’s where you’re mistaken:
a) The game rarely costs 10 bucks, it’s usually 20. Although I do realize the American/British notion that 10 bucks are basically less than you’d give as a tip to a waiter, countries such as Greece, Italy and others were the base salary is 600 euro, are getting poked in the kitten by ANET.
b) I don’t see why a new player is better than a veteran ( especially the super veterans who’ve basically spent 3 years + playing both games ).
c) Would it be THAT difficult to give 1-2 character slots for the standard one and increase the Ultimate ones?
Besides, they’re always like " We haven’t released everything there is to know about HoT, yet " to make us think that they’ve only released about 10% of what’s coming when in reality, the best changes are : Guild Halls + Revenant.

Are fifty bucks worth those two changes? If you’re not in a high wage country, no.

a)A business model can’t cater to every type of wage in the world. The Xpac is simply 50 bucks. Thats it.

b)As a veteran it doesn’t make you better than a new player either. But you have to understand after 3 years a video game deprecates to almost nothing! (trade in your old games at eb games, they will literally give you cents for it) Anet is being kind to new players by giving them the core for free.. Veterans already have 3 years of experience on new players. Its a great sales tactic to give new players a sense of entrust.

c)YES it would be difficult to give EVERYONE a free character slot… realize that will account for over 1 million free slots to handout, the maintenance for servers and to hold that data would be alot!

The big deal is gw2, when i bought it, was 50 bucks as well
you think HoT has enough content has gw2 base game at release to justify the same price tag ?

Maybe it doesn’t. But thats the price of the Xpac. Either you buy it or don’t. But the real problem is people whining about it.

Costs the same to upgrade as to buy new

You’re assuming the person bought the game 3 years ago. What about the people who JUST bought the game? Now they have to spend even more money for the exact same content.

They will help compensate anyone who recently bought the game.

the X pac is 50$ whether you like it or not.

If you are a new player, great! We will give you the core game for free, you have alot of catch up to do.

Simple as that!

I think the Xpac is fair. Your cooking set has been providing you a FEAST for the past 3 years. For 3 years you were able to play countless hours of FREE Living Story updates without opening your wallet once (if you bought gems that’s up to you).

I don’t understand how players bought one game 3 years ago, and are able to complain about the price of the new Xpac made with the resources and planning in the year of 2015.

You have to think of the Xpac as a newly released game, at its highest cost (typical for any game) and then they added the core game on to it, which as depreciated over 3 years.

There is alot to appreciate about this game. And I’m sure there is more to the Xpac that will be released in later time.

The core game is practically free for new players, I think its an awesome deal!

Core game playable upon purchase?

Hi all.

Quick Question:

If I pre-purchase HoT to make a brand new account, will I be able to play the core game as soon as the purchase goes through?

And then receive the expansion when it is officially released?

Thanks!

Got hacked today

in Account & Technical Support

Hey everyone. So basically I just wanted to post something to help the awareness for account hacking.

I got hacked today out of nowhere, while waiting for Teq to spawn. At first I thought I just disconnect and then realized I was being hacked. The person changed my password and then added a mobile authentication. Although I was able to change the password I was still locked out.

Support was pretty great and answered my ticket within 40 mins of the time I was hacked.

But I pretty much lost everything, all my gold and gems. The ectos I’ve been saving for the past few months. The new staff skin I just got… its disheartening. (I am trying for some kind of account restore)

Minutes prior to all this, I was super happy because I farmed alot of chest in the pavilion. Kinda seems like its all gone now…

I only started playing 2 months ago and fell in love with the game. I’m not sure whats next..

So remember, just take the extra precautions and secure your accounts. This is the honestly the worst, I can’t believe it happened to me.

Radeon R9-280x VS Nvidia 770

I’m using an ASUS GTX770, and this thing is pretty mint

I play on the highest settings and fps range from 40 – 65 depending on the circumstances.

The software that comes with it is pretty amazing, you can monitor temperature and also overclock performance. There is also a built in stream/recording function for any gaming. Supports up to 4 displays.

I would say go for it! Make sure your case is large enough tho!
