First oft, i play since the beginning. My first 80 was the engineer. I love the concept. But after a long break i hit a brick wall with hot.
I am dying left and right. I am one, two shotted by everything that moves.
I tried full vit and tough scrapper. I couldnt outheal the damage. I couldnt escape. I couldnt distract with anything like necro or mesmer ofc.
I tried full condi pistol pistol. Damage didnt kill fast enough, couldnt outheal the damage.
Full power feri scrapper, all the same.
Please enlighten me how to engineer. I just love the class too much to quit it for my necro or mesmer (who just kitten the mobs in the junge, even Champions).
Well, i can assume Mallyx can be good for enemies applying pressure with conditions but other than that, he doesnt have a “switchable” Ability thats useful just all those condition removing thingies. Ventari comes to shine with a lot of healing which is a no no when i try to complete solo PvE. I end up using Shiro 99% of the time.
Also selfhealing seems very decent on the Rev. Please proove me wrong.
PS: Why does the warrior compared to the Rev seem to never lose health at all, even in groups of PvE mobs? Is it the healing signet of warrs?

Been reading on Reditt the new engineer elite will be “Surveyor”. His weapon will be mace and he will get shouts. Still i am reading about the holosmith being engineer on other sites. Dunno.
Well i was still running Zerker Longbow and Greatsword, as condition shortbow axe torch or horn. Of course healing was rubbish, but dps with staff was even with zerker underwhelming. I cant imagine killing anything with healing gear. Thought about shortbow with staff and condi healing gear…
Anyways i think now that i cant compare to a longsword bow guardian, it seems they dps and heal decently. But i love the nature themed druid and staff…
Pets are Lynx and as tank arcturus.
Looking mostly for self healing/sustain because right now with decent power condi and a bit healing mixed in i cant keep myself alive in centaur stance.
Staff has a weak power co-efficiant as far as I am aware, so if you’re looking for damage, you’d be looking at Sword/Axe, with Longbow for quickdraw burst damage with a 2-5-2 combo (filling the remainder of your weaponswap cooldown with the Celestial Avatar rotation for GOTL).
Unfortunately, it’s fairly difficult to heal as a Druid without Healing Power – for a power build, you’re maintaining your rotation for the group buffs, not the sustain.
If you’re looking to play healbot, Magi + Superior Rune of the Monk (From Ascalon Catacombs) will allow you and 5 others to outheal most content. For this build, I prefer Sword/Warhorn + Staff. Doing this allows you to focus soley on group buffs (FURY FOR DAYS!), as you have a larger sustain buffer.
I was dreaming of self sustain soloing PvE and roaming WvW. But i dont seem to outheal damage dealt to me. Alone switching to staff i just cant keep myself alive. In the process i am mostly dead after a few seconds.
Wow i was so exited…ranger with heavy armor and heals. But i feel the traps are ok while the bow is pretty much garbage. Autoattack is like pinching the enemy with needles. The “burst” shot, trueshot, has a long cooldown and does just underpar damage compared to ranger. The soundeffects are like “pling pling” while the ranger is like “pffft pfft”, sounds actually like arrows wooshing through the air. Most of the time i just autoattack while on the ranger there is so much more to do. So DH isnt actually a hunter but a melee with an emergency range option?
Well to actually do damage with the staff i would need power i suppose? Staff hasnt any condi at all, so how do i kill stuff when i go magi and gather +heal? Or am i a heal bot only as druid?
Its red and the Charr looks very berserkerish…its so fire themed also…
Did solo most maps/content with my DH/Necro. Now id like to level an Elementalist, always wanted but even in Tyria i was oneshoted by certain mobs or small groups.
Do you guys survive those packs of enemies mixed with elites/champions? Do you go full glass to burst them down or pack heal, vit, toughness and kitten your damage?
Wen to Heart of the mist and tried an 80 ele, but staff damage even on fire/air felt like too little damage/burst. The heals in water were so tiny, they didnt help at all.
Only with arcane shield i could draw out my death, but in the end i failed. So please give me advice how to ele.
Finally i got to 80 and unlocked 3/4 of the traits. The damage gyros are laughable and the only one i feel has a use is the elite stealth gyro. Hammer does decent damage but with all the cc of the mobs and them appearing in packs plus me wearing medium armor – it feels so wrong. Its like a warrior wearing a paper pyjama. The turrets dont even scratch mobs, i mean look at the damage they do. I switched to pistol pistol condi again and doing a bit better. But even AoE with granades it looks like i am doing nothing, while a random class runs in and wooosh 2-3 hit kills the mob.
What the magic i have to do to make scrapper work?
Not talking about damage. Just leveled to 80 and unlocked the first few traits. So the heals feel very weak when i am punched by HOT mobs doing 5.000-10.000 Damage. Do i have to drown myself in +healing so i am doing no damage at all anymore? I dont get it, people say druids wont die but i cant heal myself up with those tiny heals i got with staff or Avatar. Am i doing it wrong?
Err…i think you understand something wrong here people.
The Trait Wheel in the leaked picture is RED and thats the color for the Warrior. The Charr shown looks like a warrior. So Holosmith=Warrior Elite in the upcoming EXP. It was also said on the leaked post that warriors get daggers and the Charr in the pic is clearly holding a dagger.
The engineer wasnt leaked yet but there had been a post saying they get maces.
My first statement was “unfun”. As in boring to use compared to other classes’ weapon sets. There isnt much happening that i connect with a necromancer in my mind. Staff Mesmer is fun. Staff Ele is fun. Necro isnt. Thats just me. Spear underwater is so much more pure evil carnage.
What do i do wrong with conditions? Example Rangers: Traps and Pet and Shortbow is an amazong fast, spammable Condition source. The only auto condition on Necro is scepter and in the time you built up a decent stack, the ranger maxed them long ago.
Sure, the Necro can spread, return and push around conditions. On a cooldown. Same i can purge myself as a ranger off the returned condis and have full stacks up on the enemy in no time.
I feel like that there should be a weapon set for a conditionmancer, like there is a condition set for rangers or warriors or mesmers.
Comparing here PvP.
Sure, they can push conditions here and there, but when i compare how fast a ranger hast a full stack of bleeds + poison (even faster with cat/spider or devourer) chills by switching to axe or vuln with longbow up and what a necro has to do to archive that (not talking about signet), isnt it much slower?
…thanks for your intelligent reply. Why did you answer again to my post?
Dont get me wrong, i just love the class concept, but i never got used to the weapon sets. They are so…unfun. Scepter that does “blob…blob…blob”, staff clumsy ground targeting, axe not melee nor really ranged. Dagger is fun but at higher levels you just spent most of the time laying on your back or flying around. And autoattack isnt really fun.
I really love the underwater weapon sets, they feel “necromancy” and are a joy to watch. They feel fluent. Why cant we have spears out of water…
Lastly having played a ranger fairly high level, i must say that i thought the necro is the master of conditions, but i stack bleeds, poison, even burning much faster on my ranger, while the necro needs to plaster the floor with signs or use skills to get a decent stack running. Is it just me or is even the engineer a better master of conditions? Ok, epidemic saves the day in spreading around the stuff but in the end i feel more condition heavy on other classes.
Short, the necro feels pretty passive in gameplay, while other classes seem so much more dynamic. I guess with a rework of the weapon sets this class would be so much more fun.
