I have a 2009 imac and suddenly after an update GW2 stopped working (the client wouldn’t start anymore). While customer service said that the computer was too old’ I installed CrossOver and downloaded the Windows version of the game.
The performance and graphics are better than before and I’ve had no problems since.
I can only recommend that solution and stop wondering about the Mac version.

I have the same problem. I deleted the whole GW2 folder from Application support and the client never starts though the icon appears in the task list. Unfortunately I don’t have the original folder anymore to test it.
I have an old 2009 iMac but the game worked just fine from the beginning until this suddenly showed up.

I have the same or similar problem. I deleted all GW2 data from my imac and freshly downloaded the client. Now when I start I get the GW2 icon in the task line, but the client does not start at all. Funny thing is that I can bring “all windows to the front” from GW and then see a blue screen the size of the client window when moving the mouse over the screen. I contacted support but they only told me my iMac does not meet the minimum spec. I know this but was happy enough with the performance for casual playing and don’t think the client should not start to even download the game data.

Any suggestions would be great – thanks a lot :-)

I have the same problem. I resolved the download issue by going via VPN and it worked just fine. Afterwards I shut off VPN and restarted the game client, only a black screen would show up when hitting play (but at least the client window showed up). I used ASPs tip number 4 on deleting the Guildwars 2 folder from Applications support and now I don’t even get the client window (no window at all), but Guildwars 2 shows as an open application.
Any further tips. I think it is not us that should try to solve this on the individual machines but ArenaNet. I had no problems until the latest update.

You can choose a different server as a guest.
With the new mega server system this would be less required as you will get a mix across servers in your instance and with it a mix of people.
Sorry you had this experience, this never happened to me. Ignoring questions “yes” and that is ok but taking time to respond rudely “not ok”

While the TP worked long enough for me to get the transmutation stones it has stopped working since. It would be a lot better if freebies would be send via in game mail, even if it would require to log in during the special days.

I have the same problem. I ave not found a single one on the Eredon’s Terrace server for the last days and tried guesting on Jade Quarry today. No luck in any of the spot in D Plateau.

Can they be literally anywhere in the map? I have been looking for days and have bit found one so far. Will you be able to see the snow/dirt covered object from afar or only when you stand next to it?
Any advise is welcome.

Are the lost objects usually along the path the refugees are asking or could they be anywhere in the Diessa Plateau and Wayfarer Foothills?
I spent all evening searching along the path in DP but without success.

I have hints without a check mark though I know I have completed or done hat particular one. On the other hand some activities show as completed where I wasn’t aware that I have done those, mainly related to PvP, which I dont do.
e.g. I do not show the check mark for a broken piece of equipment despite having had one and repairing it. There are several similar issues.

I use a Logitech G700 and am very happy with the extra buttons that I use mainly for attunement swapping for my ele.
To move you have to press both left and right button, either one by itself will move the camera perspective.

I am getting really tired of the fast spawn times. They take out most of any tactical approach in PvE, because it is not about how you kill the mobs but if you are fast enough to avoid the never ending flow of mobs and manage t survive. I as an Ele was at the D Plateau in the Ghost Town in Blasted Moors and during my time there the two of us destroyed the same trebuchet 3 times….. How are you supposed to decrease the mobs and work you way through when you get tackled and killed by the very same mobs and equipment that you just destroyed.
This is really frustrating….

Imo it doesn’t matter if they could make money. It should not happen, you made a choice in the combination of race nd profession to build your character. We should not be able to completely change this character we created. Live with the choices or start over with new choices.
We already have so much freedom, eg several guilds to join, switch and learn crafts, make-over kids, reset traits etc,
There should be some permanent consequences to what we chose.

Zaxares, with my idea you would actually benefit in your case, as the vet would be there for you if you hadnt killed it on that day. I do not want to suggest that mobs in general disappear after being killed and some unlucky player wanders through an empty and desolate ;landscape ;-)

These are some good point BrotherBelial, the approach still needs some refinement and that is why I welcome the discussion.
Regarding your point:
1) Farming: IMO farming should not be reduced to stand in a spot and kill/farm the same re-spawning mob time and again. Instead we could discover a good farming run that takes us across the map and would not be impacted by “loosing” killed mobs during that day.
2) Who gets the kill, I could imagine that there is a certain threshold of damage that you need to bring to a mob before it is no longer available that day. Could be fairly high for normal mobs, and lower for vets, champions, or dragons.

Alternatively a 10-15min respawn time would improve the overall feel of persistency and support some tactical gameplay.

I fully agree with the OP. Just yesterday I was killed in a cave by the spawns. We came in the cave as a team of two. My partner died in the progress but I was able to clear the cave, by the time I went to revive him, the mobs respawned and attacked. So he went to the next waypoint while I died….. killed by the very same mob we just barely survived.

Adding to the suggestion from the OP, I suggest the following , which would support the “Living Story” and “Persistent World” approach that GW2 claims.

I may have a solution for this problem with happens to improve other areas that have been complained about:
Treat mobs, veterans, champions etc the same as resource nods, i.e. after I have killed them I cannot kill them again for the day (the best would be if they were invisible but that may be a stretch technically). As I see it it would address and improve the following:
- RE-SPAWNING: No more respawns would allow a more tactical game, taking out one mob after the other without kiting into the three I killed earlier.
- HARDER ON BOTS: No more farming one small area and feasting o re-spawned mobs
- MORE REALISTIC GAME EXPERIENCE and sense of accomplishment: You can clear areas of mobs, and dont see them re-spawn like nothing ever happened to them just a few seconds/minutes ago.
- FOSTER MAP EXPLORATION and help to revive empty areas as people/we have to travel further to farm and kill mobs.
In order to still support group play mobs should be only unkillable/invisble after I contributed a certain amount of damage, can be different for different mobs.

I would be interesting what the forum and ANet think about this.

It worked fine for me in Caledon Forest. The NPCs priced up my combo fields for finishers which was a nice surprise. I achieved all without any other player.

Thanks Naqaj, that solved my problem. I will keep this in mind as I am about to upgrade my RAM from 4 to 8GB and read on the forum that this should also give me a higher VRAM. Is that the case?

This may not be the right forum fir this question in which case I apologize.
Yet one aspect of it refers to crafting.

I would like some views on what to do with blue&green items that I cannot use as an ele.
I see either
- salvage for crafting mats
- sell on the TP
- keep and mix in the mystic forge with the hope to get something useful

I know there is no right answer, but would just be interested what the difference views here are.

Probably a stupid question, but I cannot the folder or the file required here. I tried the search My Mac. I can find Library>Application Support> but there is no folder for Guildwars 2.
I have 256MB RAM on the graphics card, and hoped that the customized config file would improve the performance.

Any help is appreciated.

If you refer to the wrench symbol, that refers to effects from ‘tools’, e.g. Potions, crystals, stones and can be in effect in parallel to the food effect.

Not sure if that s what you meant.

As the title says, I would like o know if eating more than one food at a On my way! Leads to the complete set of effects and/or added effects where applicable.

I ate three different foods, but only the effects for the last one showed above my skill bar.

I have a problem with the discovery panel. I am a level 29 tailor and when I look at the discovery panel not all my ingredients that are suitable for tailor show up, e.g. tiny scales, tiny fangs, tiny claws.
Can anybody help with this? The panel even shows materials that I cannot use, so that cannot be the reason.

How is "Subscribe" supposed to work?

Improve the filter/search function.
When I filter for Consumables/Food – all I get are various alcoholic drinks, but none of the dishes that come from cooks. They only show as Consumables, which mkes a long list, e.g. including all dyes.

This is my first post on the forum and I want to start with saying Thank You to ANet for this great game, which I have played with a lot of fun. It has been a great start amd I look forward to what is coming and what improvements will be implemented over the course of the next updates.

Playing an Ele I can only support the title of this post. The re-spawning is terribly fast, and whether it is the same mob re-spawing too fast or another one from before, it still brings numerous problems with it.
