In the past, if you were swimming and suddenly found yourself surrounded by an angry mob and got downed, you could swim for the shore/water top. While doing so, using skill 3 would give you stealth as you swam away from the creatures, which would reset them and allow you to get away. This no longer occurs.

The new reaction that creatures have to ‘stealth’ invalidates the usefulness of Downed Skill #3 almost COMPLETELY for the Thief character. Since the creatures no longer stop chasing you, do not reset path and the stealth is only for 1 second, this skill offers absolutely no advantage to a downed thief except in PvP situations where there are multiple enemy targets for enemies to worry about.

The stealth does not stop the mobs from chasing you, does not reset them from attacking you, doesn’t help you escape foes at all.

One of the tenets of the game was supposed to be: Play the Game the Way You Want

Then they added fractal-specific gear, which would have been just FINE had they not then made that gear a better (and not just alternately useful) tier with better stats.

This breaks the tenet. MMORPG players ALWAYS will want the best gear, and will alter their playstyles to get it. No longer can you play the game how you want, because if you do – you will be relegated to second-hand citizenry. Laurels were a capitulation to try to restore the tenet. Unfortunately, the proper solution was to not introduce a new (better) tier of gear in the first place.

Somewhere, I had read that exotics would be equal to legendaries in statistics, but would be better skins. Adding fractal specific gear with those equivalent stats, but changing the add-on to work with the new mechanics would have meant that I could continue playing and never get into fractal gear – and never worry about it.

However, to stay competitive (keep in mind the simplistic view of better gear = better player is just wrong) in WvWvW – I would now be competing with players who could outgear me because they chose to play the new dungeon types [that I personally don’t enjoy].

If they truly believe in the original tenet – there would be only one currency – GOLD. And if I wanted dungeon skins, I’d have to either play the dungeons and find it at random there, or collect enough gold from someone else who played in the dungeons. And if I wanted super-duper fractal (T7) gear, I’d have to be willing to part with 50g a piece to buy it from the people who run fractals. Dailies would reward me with gold – everything would be balanced for time played/rewards – the economy would all equal out and so on and so on.

But it looks like that tenet is only given lip service for some reason, and that’s what’s caused this mess.

Instance overflow servers with same timers

I would like to suggest that Anet instance overflow servers with the same world event timers as the original target servers of the instance from which the first PC that created the overflow server.

E.g. Assuming Anet creates overflow zone server instances and they just sit there empty until a PC needs it, then at the time the first PC inhabits it, zone timers should be set equal to the same timers from the original zone they would have been sent.

This would allow world events to occur on overflow zones at the same timeframe as the origin zone of the people inhabiting it.

Right now, it is very difficult to attend world-boss events due to the overcrowding that occurs, and when thrown into an overflow server, the world events will not kick off because the timer may be as much as 3 hours out of synchronization with the inhabitant PC’s home world.

Replacing All Dugeon Tokens with Laurels

One thing that might be nice is to have an exchange system for tokens:laurels. Allow players to purchase laurels with X dungeon tokens. The exchange rate would need to be exceedingly high, however, to keep the current laurel values – on the order of 500:1 or so.

Grace period for daily achievements?

I see you’re in a similar situation as I am.

You suggest an 1-2 hour grace period, I suggest no reset at all for those with any progress towards their dailies.

I believe this is the best solution right here. Daily resets at 7pm should reset counters for anyone with 100% completion of the day before. However, progress should not be reset. This would permit players to take as long as they need to complete the ‘dailies’ quest.

Rather than looking at it as ‘you need to complete these within a day’ – Anet should have established the rule to be ‘you may complete these as often as once per day’. The logic has an oh-so-slight, but oh-so-important difference.

If players could complete the ‘daily’ over the course of a year, and this is their play speed – at least they could feel like they’re progressing, rather than have their accomplishments WIPED OUT at some arbitrary position of the earth on its rotational axis.

With the new patch, many zones are experiencing overflow – especially those that contain world boss events.

Unfortunately, these overflow servers are not synchronized with all possible origin servers [potentially even starting up when you WP into it if you’re first].

When called to a potential boss event, most players are willing to expend silver to WP to a large event because of the potential loot they expect. However, if they WP to the server and get dropped into an overflow server, this WP cost is no longer justifiable. By the time the players are permitted into their server’s individual zone, the boss event will be complete (which is actually the cause of the wait being over).

There is no indication at this time that the target zone is in overflow until after the zone-in.

I suggest that waypoint fees be refunded when the target zone is an overflow server. This incentivizes Anet to resolve the overcrowding issue as it removes the gold sink, and it provides a level of fairness to the player.

It can not be readily abused by players since they have absolutely no way of ensuring they will be waypointing to an overflow. The only potential abuse would be to wait for an event in a largely populated zone to waypoint in to the overflow server for free…a minimal advantage to the player at best.

DE stage timers

As I travel over the world of Tyria, I have run into many stalled Dynamic Events. I would like to suggest that dynamic event stages have maximum timers set on them to reset/fail the event. As each stage starts, an intenal timer of (say, 1 hour to be conservative) is begun. If that stage of the DE is not completed within that time, the NPC’s should say out loud, “Well, that didn’t quite go as I expected. I’m getting out of here.” and then they should run off and disappear, resetting all counters for the event, failing out any participants in their participant table.

With such a conservative timer, we wouldn’t have to wait days for a server reset to fix stuck events, devs would have a log point for all stuck events, world consistency could be maintained, and everyone would be happy.

No 100% star - but have rewards/title choice

I received the 2 Gifts of Exploration, have:
301/301
509/509
719/719
202/202
266/266
all showing in my map
I received the Achievement ‘Been There, Done That’
However I do not see my completion star over my head, and choosing the title does not activate it. I completed both Orr areas prior to the added waypoints
I went back to complete these new waypoints, when I did not receive the achievement at the time that I got the Gifts…but I have now received the achievement.

I see 100% map completion on map screen and character selection screens.

How do I get my star?
