I tend to reuse names I’ve used in the past. Otherwise I too can spend what seems like hours in the character creator. I’ve been there so long in the past that the the game timed out on me. Currently I have mostly humans and they all share the same surname. My lone sylvari is a single word name that’s a variant of the humans’ surname.

I like everything about the sylvari… their look, customization options, voice/accents, lore and philosophy, The Grove. I like everything, that is, except their dance. That has got to go. I hope ANet one day makes new dances available, even if it’s just for purchase.

Running a business doesn’t give you license to be greedy. It’s 100% possible. Plenty of businesses don’t lie or gouge their customers. If people keep accepting it then nothing will change. As it is right now most american companies would rather lie, cheat, steal, and gouge you for every penny you’re worth. They’d gladly throw you over a bridge if it made them money. If ya’ll keep accepting it they’ll keep doing it….

They got to save the good stuff for the cash shop. I wouldn’t put it past them to put hair styles in the Gem shop.

This. And the ability to re-visit the character creator to make modifications (body type, skin color, facial features).

I wonder if sylvari breathe in carbon dioxide and exhale oxygen?

Couldn’t the Pale Tree (and by extension the Sylvari) just be the planet of Tyria’s reaction to the Elder Dragons?

A sort of defense mechanism that was initiated when they stirred, because of what the planet had learned after the last time they awoke (kind of like anti-bodies in humans — once exposed to a disease the immune system learns methods to fight it).

I like this theory myself. The Pale Tree as the avatar of Tyria itself. As in Earth’s Gaia.

I like to think that the whole Sylvari and Risen conflict is secretly an elaborate Plants vs. Zombies fanfiction on the part of one or more content developers at ANet.

I have a low level guardian and they seem to have more than the average healing capacity and the ability to block damage. But there is no dedicated healer in the game. And having played the healer in other games I say AMEN to that!

And for those other games, it is not the healer’s fault if you die from pulling agro off the tank. Just sayin’. ;-)

Apparently most back slot items were not ready for launch. I’ve only heard of the two available via personal story and I’ve only actually seen one of those.

I have a group of names I tend to re-use from game to game. But it seemed to me that sylvari should have a one-word name. I was lucky enough to get my top choices for my two sylvari, Arazmus and Micaelan. They may not be very lore-friendly but I’m happy with them.

This game doesn’t have warlocks. But I think the “natural” class for a sylvari is the ranger.
