Daily confusion

I agree, clarification is needed. I do WvW and still haven’t come across what this “mists” is… in fact, that’s why I found this post because I had to google what is being asked.

Clarification on the dailies in general would be a good idea.

Monthly Completionist track?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Not really related, but sort of? I got hooped by a bad bug in the game. I apparently had 1 more daily to complete to get my monthly. This is the last day before I ship out for work again…. so I was rather disappointed when I completed my daily and my monthly didn’t add another accomplishment to complete it.

I"m really hoping they’ll report to the bug. I would simply start again, except it marked my daily as complete so I can’t do it again. I also can’t wait for another day (5 days left in the month) since I have to work and won’t have a chance to play enough to get a daily again.

This blows.

Is it not about time that we get some form of official update on this issue?

I would very much like to be able to buy gems..
The limited personal account bank space, and lack of character slots is starting to limit my enjoyment and hinder me in collecting items within the game.

I have sent tickets twice now and been very patient, once to ArenaNet through this website and once directly to NCSofts account support and no sort of useful response is really starting to unnerve me.

#120831-018519 (to arenanet: was closed and nothing was done)
#120921-004377 (to ncsoft: got help on accessing my master account to see if I could do something my self, and told that my request was forwarded to billing, but nothing has come of it)

I completely agree.

5 dollar option for buying Gems?

There is a cost to all retails from the various credit card companies and other merchant fees.

They lose profit on the small stuff like that.

Ever notice when you hit a store and they might have a $10 min charge posted? That is why

Actually, that’s only half true…. I’ve run my own business and have looked into this. Each transaction there is a flat fee PLUS interest charged to a merchant for taking a credit card payment. The interest varies but I found 2-4% average.

It’s the flat fee that makes smaller purcahses costly, but the “flat fee” is always below $1 (unless they took an incredibly bad deal). So a $5 purchase ($4 profit) on intellectual items of no manufacturing costs would easily make profit.

Sadly though, this would mean they would have to be less greedy… when have you known shareholders to willingly take less?

Guys, we have a display issue that is causing some concerns with a promotion going on right now. That’s not to say this will address every issue in this thread, but for those trying to buy the game, please read on.

Here’s the official wording that players should be able to get if they use “Ask a Question” about this:

The Order Summary is slow to update when there are changes made. The promo price will appear on the “Order Summary” once you enter all of your credit card or PayPal information in the fields provided.

Promo Sale offer applies only to Digital Edition and Digital Deluxe Edition purchased through buy.guildwars2.com from 7pm CET (10am PST), 22nd February 2013 to 9pm CET (12pm PST), 25th February 2013.

So I think you’ll find that you do get the promotional price. But of course, I’d suggest you contact Support by filing a ticket through the “Ask a Question” tab on that linked page. They will be able to assist you with any individual issues you’re having, and the turn-around time is pretty quick these days.

I would highly recommend you work on the glitches that plague the credit card payment system and other “functional” systems before you work on your promotions. Especially since you can’t receive money if no one can pay. Sort of defeats the purpose of advertising!

I’m having similar issues to others… and it’s definately on GW2’s side.

Details:
1. Purchased without an issue last night with the credit card information I saved on my account.
2. Wife went to add credit card and got a similar screen to below (credit card authorization failed).
3. Tried to add my credit card back to test if it was her card; My credit card which was used only hours prior also failed.
4. Called my bank to check if there was a block or anything. Also to verify the EXACT typing of billing address information, name, etc. Bank identified with me that it cannot have failed since they never even had a log entry. In other words, the details of the purchase never even reached my bank.

I see several mentions from GW2 support to check for blocks, issues with credit cards from other countries, etc. I have comment to this: Guild Wars 2 Support Staff. Stop passing teh issue onto others and start taking responsibility, THEN, actually do some checking and fix the solution.

Now honestly? I’m a bit miffed, but I have to laugh at the irony that this isn’t a game glitch that angers the patrons that actually payed good money for this game, but rather a glitch that is preventing willing people that want to give you money from doing so…. all the while getting terrible support and having the support say it’s not on their end. Basic principle of business: if someone wants to give you money, take it.

ArenaNet already solved the night cap problem

in WvW

Yup thats right, Anet already built in a system to prevent one team from continuously destroying everyone else. It’s called temporary alliances! Look didn’t the work make an alliance when the nazi’s wanted to invade everyone? Didn’t the colonies make alliances with the french when they wanted independence? The only effective way to balance WvW or RvR is to allow the two lower realms to team up and shutdown the top team.

If ET and SBI shutdown HoD completely several things would happen. First a large amount of people who just switched to HoD because they are the strongest would be left with long que times and less server pride as they arn’t dominating. Also if Et and SBI joined up and kicked HoD down a bracket we would have an SBI vs ET vs JQ fight which would be awesome! Imagine logging on Monday after work and everything is exactly as it was on Sunday night.

Seriously we need to stop complaining about HoDs night crew (Technically its day crew) and simply shut them down. They want to run 24/7 coverage and take things uncontested then they will have to deal with a 2vs1. Eventually things will even out and large guilds will get tired of it and transfer off.

In concept, you are completely right…. however, practically this idea holds little merrit.

a) communication between 2 servers.
b) lack of general understanding from the immature majority of gaming populations.

I believe a server alliance would at LEAST somewhat balance teh issue at hand, but near immpossible to implement.

Lets not turn it into another night capping topic. There are a lot more issues beside that.

Back to point of the topic -need some communication from Arena site regarding the situation and future plans for WvW.

You seem to be taking this point rather personally….. perhaps you’re from a night capping server? lol.

But you speak a valid point. I will move this discussion to another thread that’s more on topic.

The "Self Balancing System"

in WvW

gentlegerbil.1579

This is a common issue in any 3-player situation. Personally, I’m a HUGE board gamer and I refuse 3 player games for the same reason. It’s predictable….

I was personally excited with the idea of taking a keep and holding it for a week, but at the current rate of turn-overs and playing experience now…. I have to agree…. shorter resets would be better.

I have to strongly agree with night capping. I think it is a misinterpretation of what the WvW is trying to convey. We are currently playing a team that has a strong player base over seas… every day when we get on, we take back 50%-80% of our world back from them and every night when we go to sleep we lose 90% of it all over again.

You can guess who has the higher score (they do)… but who’s the stronger team when matched equally?

This is poor score representation.

Just so everyone’s clear about this; during the day you cap almost everything, and over night they cap almost everything… or put another way, during their night you cap everything.

While I agree population imbalances needs to be addressed, and outnumbered teams need help, what you’re ultimately complaining about is the game purely from your perspective.

Nope, not during their night…. they have no night. From what I understand, they have a fairly strong presence in Europe and Asia. The “skill” was the opint I was referring to. Having a strong overseas team is great and they should not be penalized for it….. however, it’s obvious to most people where the skill lays but the opint system doesn’t reflect this.

During our day, both sides are queued up and full…. but they lose a great deal of land. One night we stayed up late to hold a tower and easily defended it against an “inferior” team…. they only cap when our server is near empty……

What I’m suggesting is a “balance” to simply make night capping more difficult. Perhaps capping times that are much slower when server populations are down.

If not, then the scoring system needs to be addressed to more accurately describe what a “winning” server is? Because winning to me is fighting and earning it… not stealing it.

…The only thing I sometimes wish would be possible is that I could deposit my supplies in a keep/tower instead of having to use it to deploy sieges or do repairs…

Our guild actually had a discussion about that. Would definately add an interesting dynamic to be able to run supplies to towers. You may argue this would imbalance teh purpose of the dolyaks, but if you tie up 20 people on a server running supplies from supply camps, I believe that will have a negative effect on it’s own

I think the possibility of having people deposit supplies in their own tower would certainly be worth a test
