did you look at the four page long thread right below this one?

Thank you, the fix worked.
Me too…
Anet, please restrict the Mentor tag to low level areas. As said above, people will continually be discouraged to purchase commander tags. This new tag has made the previous tag completely useless.
Hilarious.
not everyone waste 300 G to be a commander and almost no one ask to be inside the squad… this new tag is a blessing, you don’t need a real comm to lead an event train anyway
Sure respawns are normal, but there are respawn timers that are normal, and those that are hyper increased for an event to make it challenging. That combined with an otherwise abnormal numbers of enemies, classifies it as an exploit to take advantage of the fact that they give XP (which they shouldn’t when the event can be prevented from failing/succeeding) and keeping it in a standstill. You purposely make it benefit you by not completing it (which is obviously what is intended).
You’re being a bit too nitpicking about the word respawns. It’s obvious that certain means people have been using thus far, e.g., CoF and Mushrooms in Maguuma, are not intended ways. You’re not supposed to keep an event from completing just to endlessly kill something for personal gain. That, is an exploit.
Luckily, masteries don’t really give you any specific gain over another player, so it’s trivial in the big picture. But I find it disappointing that seeing high ranks is nothing like ArenaNet promoted it to be, something of prestige. Now I just see exploiters, and it’s nothing special about that, at all. Oh well.
Why a high mastery level should be “something of prestige”? With the right amount of time after the launch of HoT you’ll see many palyers with high mastery levels. It’s like the increasing number of legendary weapons in the game, nowadays almost 50% of the players in end game zones have it, may be the real thing or just the skin because they have one on alt char doesn’t matter, do you think they are a symbol of prestige now? Do you think they have exploited the game because they have one?
they made an expansion but forgot to add loot-you know the reason you might want to stay and explore the maps. after spending hours in the jungle it is more than a little frustrating to go back to dr and see all the old gloves and coats that dropped as loot.
when you go in you fight..fight…fight…and fight ! but nothing drops-nothing unique to these areas. you would think you would be picking up unique armors and weapons along the way to advance the lore and immerse the players…but not here. what you get are the same blues and greens that you would find in any open world area.
however, there are a ton of new ingredients and baubles to clutter up your inventory! but there is nothing in the way of new armor/weapons -you know the things players actually want. how you make an expansion that is based on fighting constantly and give no reward for the fighting is beyond me.
the expansion is beefy if you have never played the game before but veterans will quickly find boredom and little replay value here.
This is not true, I have played very little in verdant brink and only in that map but I have found collection parts for the new revenant armor (the mistward one you have saw on revenants in beta) and bladed armor chests (containing pieces of a totally new armor for all armor classes) so far. Not bad for a no- loot expansion!
I was ready to attack head on the jungle to make all the hero challenges possible asap to unlock the tempest at day 1, and I was a little frustrated at how hard was… When this morning I have found the 250 change I was really happy. It’s such a great change, probably a little too convenient but I really love it. The tempest is really great! Thank you Anet!
keeps on crashing, but don’t know why… almost 1 crash every 10 minutes average…
Got it, which ones? Wiki doesn’t help right now…
I have 31 core Tyria mastery points but doesn’t seem possible to use them, I just have to make other experience points to unlock masteries… Is it intended or a bug?
Originally crafting a legendary weapon meant to play both PvE and WvW, I mainly do PvE so making badges for the Gift of Battle was really hard for me, should I have complained about it? I know that making Hero Points is another matter but I don’t understand at all why the WvWers want to never do PvE…
Legendaries are just some shiny toys that noone needs. I have played this game for 5k hours and don’t have a legendary because it just isn’t possible to make this kind of gold in WvW. It’s not totally fair but ok, let’s leave legendaries to people willing to heavily farm PvE. I don’t complain too much about that.
But here we’re not talking about useless stuff, we’re talking about unlocking character mechanics, skills etc… This should not be locked behind PvE grind… This system is just horrible.
True, legendaries were a bad choice for an argumentation… but why WvWers hate PvE content?

Hmm, sorry, wasn’t sarcastic, that was the selling point for me to use tempest, good to know it’s like this only for me.
i actually was excited for it as a mechanic, it just wasn’t implemented correctly for what it was offering. i don’t mind the idea of being locked into one or two attunements, like a staff ele is….if they gave us the survival tools to be able to pull it off. all overloads needed a breakbar (or shorter channel times) and maybe air and water should have been ground targeted (zerg buster/healer). the traits/utilities could also use some access to self-stability (either while overloading or tied to using shouts) to help secure a melee overload.
Yeah, probably if they make you untargetable while unleashing the overload it could be great, but not even in tornado form gave ele that kind of greatness…

What’s your favorite mode for you to like it(please not that one)??
With mode you mean pve pvp or wvw right? I have only saw videos on youtube, couldn’t play the bwe, not on the pc on those days… but I’m mainly a pve (98,5%) little pvp (1%) and less wvw (0,5%) so in pve modes I’d like to try that. Anyway, if all elite specs are bad I’ll keep playing with core ones no prob

I don’t understand all the elementalists who completely don’t like the tempest stuff. Yes, the warhorn is really bad, shouts not even average, half traits won’t ever be used but you forgot the profession mechanic, do you not like the overloading of the attunements?
I am assuming you will want to stop clicking now and then anyways so you do not have 80 bouncing diamonds?
Not all 80 are visible, only the first 3. When you use one of them the stack goes left of 1 diamond.
Thank you mercury, just what I was going to write ^^
I see your point, but in my experience I’m having a lot of trouble playing with the war that lvled up from lvl 25 to lvl 80 with tomes from login rewards and I have (obviously) all skills and specs unlocked.
Go out and clear a zone or two, or go to the mist lobby and test on golems. It doesn’t take long to get the hang of a class, especially warrior.
What about behaviour in dungeons or fractals? You need more training than 3 hours clearing some zones…
No one knows. Reddit posts are actually 100% guess. Until anet releases the information it will be a mystery. I can say 100 just because it’s a number I find to actually be fair.
More than guess is data mining, meaning that at that date in the datas inside the game that was the actual amunt of points, seems 100% guessing ’cause developers from anet can always change their mind before releasing some new content.
And they have changed their minds on hero points already. Originally to unlock all the core specs in the last major update you needed to be lvl 80 plus have at least 65 hero points. At the last minute they changed their minds and just had the core specs unlock at lvl 80 alone.
So basically everyone should just take whatever “data mined” info is dug up with the proverbial pinch of salt.
I agree. Like I said it wasn’t a real answer.
Well it can’t be 250 because if it was it would mean that with every expansion/update which adds extra specialisations it would mean they would have to add more then a tyria worth of skill chanllenges which is unrealistic.
Not really, core game has 213 hero challenges already, to make a mere 37 more challenges is a piece of cake for them. Can’t figure out how they’ll behave for next elite specialization though.

Just my opinion, not a real answer: when they re-imagined the specialization they made them so with 0 hero challenges done and lvl 80 you can unlock all the core specializations and skills, then what should be the use of the hero challenges? Probably unlocking the elite specialization, skills, new weapon and skins. So I think little less than the full pool of hero challenge earned points… Numerically means 213 hero challenge points in core GW2 game, and more to come in HoT.
Just found more, in this link says 250 hero points for unlocking all the elite specialization track: https://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/3iz5oo/data_mining_hero_points_and_specialization_tracks/

I will use the level 30 scroll, do the first 3 chapters of personal story, use tomes to reach level 40, do another chapter and start doing half of the major waypoints. And repeat for every 10 levels.
I would hate overusing tomes by accident and don’t think I should just for people who are going to be instant lvl 80 with no clue what to do. It is totally up to you, but it is not a must thing to do, and you shouldnt need to be cathered on that kind of level. This is beyond normal QoL and in the domain of lazyness.
I agree with you, I’m playing since the BWE in 2012 and it’s always better to level up little by little if you want to learn how to play with a certain profession. Not only that: how can you understand which build is better (stats, runes, sigils, skills, specs) if you haven’t played from 2 to 80?
Beta weekend has not ended yet
All beta weekend characters can go anywhere in the game during the course of the BWE
Got it, thank you.
I’m a pve player, so my opinion is a little different. My main is an ele and I think the new utilities and warhorn skills are a little too plain for an elite specialization, but the new profession mechanic is a really great feature, and I can go on with a little meddling of my build (not changing gears though). What I’m most hyped about HoT is the revenant, the new profession mechanics and the masteries.
Today I pre-purchased GW2 HoT (I think the BWE was already ended) and gratefully found I was able to create beta characters and play to some extent with them in the silverwastes and even teleporting in LA. Is this intended to be active for all the time or just a (great) bug?
