Oh I second this the new outfits look great but i simply don’t want to be locked to the whole thing. It’s such a shame I would have bought quiet a few of them for one part of them.

Really cant say i have ever seen anybody claim that before. Its all irrelevant as for whatever reason you approve of the current incarnation of the Mystic forge and cant be told otherwise. Id prefer to see this post get some more suggestion and not turn into more of a kittening contest that it already has become.

Yeah, it wouldn’t work out that way. Have you bothered even thinking about prices and implications before putting forward the suggestions? Or researching them?

Actually quiet a lot of research actually I also have a degree in game design and work in the industry. So yeah I know a little bit about the subject matter.

elaborate please? I actually don’t see how it would.

Turning 4 major runes that are worth 4 silver each into the superior version worth 9 gold.

How many sigils are worth 9 gold? the chances of getting that would still be pretty low.

The point of the mystic forge like all features of a game is to add to and or enhance the play experience of the game.
In its current form the Mystic Forge is very punishing and extremely low yield for the most part. If you consider the process for a minute you should be able to appreciate how low yield something like runes and sigils are. You find four random green sigils you put them into the mystic forge. From what i have read seems like about 20% is the probability of getting an upgraded one. So you have a 1/5 chance of getting an upgrade seems pretty low already. Considered then that even if you put 4 of the same sigils into the forge you still will only net a random sigil upgrade. Now there is 64 different sigils give or take a few holiday ones. You have a 1.5% chance of getting the desired sigil. This is of course only after you lucked out and got the 1/5 chance of getting an upgrade at all. This is of course not even taking into consideration the fact you have to do it all again four times to even be eligible for an exotic rune.
By removing the the 1/5 chance you still have a low percentage chance of getting the desired sigil you are seeking however you aren’t punishing players for using the feature in the first place. Would this see t3 sigils rise in price yes but the drop in t4 prices would be substantial enough to see an overall reduction in sigil prices full stop. As it stand currently outside of farming/buying gold and buying them there is no effective way to work towards a sigil/rune set goal. I also wonder how many people like myself just flat out ignore the Mystic forge and vendor all their runes and sigils as it still works out to be more profitable would then begin to utilize the mystic forge to work towards those goals. More people using and liking your feature is what you really want as a game designer.

With Heart of Thorns in the works i figured this would be a good time to share my thoughts on changes to the terrible mystic forge system.

Runes and Sigils
- 4x green sigils or runes should make 1x random yellow rune or sigil.
- 4x of the same type of rune or sigil should make 1x upgraded version of that rune.
- All upgrades should have a very rare chance of giving you a further upgrades rune e.g. 4x green sigils can proc 1x exotic sigil.

Dyes
- 4x identified dyes should create 1x random unidentified dye.

Ascended Gear
- 4x uninfused rings should create 1x random infused ring.
- 4x same rings should create 1x infused ring of the same type.

Infusions
- Halve the material costs of ring infusions.

Lodestones
- 50x Piles of Bloodstone Dust + 50x Dragonite Ore + 50x Empyreal Fragment = 1-3 random lodestones.

Most changes still have RNG but they aren’t buried under multiple layers of RNG. Seriously whats A-nets obsession with that.

there is non incentive, this game died for me when i realised theres no purpose of RVR and the maps are far too small, they still havent put in a WARHAMMER like warband feature either?

basically DAOC 2. Hope to see lots of daoc/war ppl on there in a year or 2.

Looking at that demo they have a long way to go.

500 AI casually walking on the screen, occasionally swinging…using the same two character models over and over. Doesn’t really look like much of a battle to me.

As a tech demo it looks very very dated. I understand the project is in infant mode, but were looking at at least 3 more years of development.

You clearly didn’t watch the video or perhaps you didn’t listen. He said they are 500 individually instanced models all with variations. In an early tech demo with high tries on the models is very very impressive. You would also be impressed by this if you had any clue about engine and model creation and implementation.

Please remember this order before posting: eyes and ears, brain then mouth.

I was playing around with specs today and I noticed that I can’t seem to stack Greatsword Training and Illusionists Celerity anymore to reduce iZerker cooldown. Is this new or am I just imagining things? Can someone confirm.

A mesmer can hit you with 15k+ damage from ranged. All of the attention needs to be directed towards the most OP class in the game. Secondly look at bunker guardians for tPVP. Thiefs are fine, i’ve switched to a bleed build and haven’t been killed by backstab or heartseeker in over a week of non-stop sPVP andWvWvW.

15K I call bullkitten! I am a mesmer in full exotic crit build and my best crit is 4K if the moons align. Now that izerker has had its damaged nerfed into the ground you are kidding yourself if you think we are op. You are clearly just deflecting the subject away from the clear problem Thief!

Fame
Fame Ranks (FR) is a proposed WvWvW ranking points system for individual players in Guild Wars 2. Players earn FR by killing opposing players, capturing point and repairing objectives in WvWvW. The following is an outline on FR.

Fame Ranks
The proposal is for this system to have 100 achievable ranks. Players will be required to earn Fame Points (FP) to achieve (FR). The following is a guide for required accumulation of Fame Points per Fame Rank (FPPFR) for the first 10 levels.

Fame Rank – Fame Points Required
1 – 500
2 – 1000
3 – 2000
4 – 4000
5 – 8000
6 – 16000
7 – 32000
8 – 64000
9 – 128000
10 – 256000

The FPPFR will double for each rank ensuring players will be required to invest more time into gaining higher ranks.

Earning Fame Points
Players can earn FP numerous ways. The following is an outline of the scenarios where FP can be earned.

Killing an enemy player
Killing an opposing player will net the victor FP based on a number of factors – the level of the opposing player, the rank of the opposing player, and the number of people who have caused damage to that particular opposing player before his/her death. For example:

Player A is level 80 and Rank 1
Player B is level 80 and Rank 1
Player C is level 65 and Rank 0
Player D is level 80 and Rank 7

Score Calculation
• Player A kills Player B (Enemy Player Level + (Enemy Player Rank* Enemy Player Level)) = 160
• Player A Kills Player C (Enemy Player Level + (Enemy Player Rank* Enemy Player Level)) = 65
• Player A kills Player D (Enemy Player Level + (Enemy Player Rank* Enemy Player Level)) = 640
• Player A and B Kill Player D (Enemy Player Level + (Enemy Player Rank* Enemy Player Level) / No. of Damaging players) = 320p/p (Players who are in a party will receive points from their teammates victories, even if they don’t directly damage player. The players in the party will also count toward the division of points).

Taking an Objective
Players will earn FP for taking an objective based on a number of factors – type of objective, number of opposing defenders in the area at the time of capture, and the number of opposing defenders killed in the final minute before capture.

Supply Line Captures = 50 FP.
Supply Point Captures = 150 FP.
Tower Captures = 500 FP.
Keep Captures = 1000 FP.

Attacker Bonuses
• Additional 50 FP for each enemy in the area, up to 10.
• Additional 50 FP for each enemy killed in the area in the last min up to 20.

Defender Bonuses
• 1.5x FP earned by defenders who kill an attacker inside the objective area, when there are 5 or more attacking enemies at the objective.
• 10 FP by the number of enemies at an objective, awarded every 10 minutes of successful defence from attack. This bonus is capped at 1000 points.

Repairing Objectives
A static 100 points awarded for repairing a damaged objective.

Rank Rewards
Players can receive titles, stat upgrades and item rewards for achieving certain ranks. For example:
Rank Titles to be displayed to Enemy Factions instead of Defender.
• FR 10 Soldier
• FR 50 Brigadier
• FR 100 Warlord

Stat Buffs
Players will receive a 100 Point buff to all stats, plus 2% critical damage, awarded every 10 Ranks.

Rank Abilities
At ranks 30, 60 and 100 players will receive an option to pick from a number of passive abilities these abilities are faction wide. Each Profession will have different choices, for example:
Mesmer
Rank 30 Abilities
• 3% increase to critical hit chance per active clone to all nearby allies (Range 1200)
• Distortion – 15 seconds to all nearby allies. (Range 1200)
• TBA
Rank 60 Abilities
• 2% of total damage as healing.
• 10% of total health returned each per shattered clone.
• 50% of total heal to all allies within a 900 range each time you heal.
Rank 100 Abilities
• Maximum Clones Increased by 1
• Clones now mimic all of your abilities as you use them (excluding illusion spawning abilities).
• TBA

Outmanned Bonus
• 2x FP earned per kill
• Double FP defending bonus
• 2x FP repair bonus

This entire system is designed to reward all players, not just the winning realm. If your server is getting steam rolled, you can still run out into the borderlands and gain FP for defending or taking objectives. I am an indie game designer and I have very keen interest in the particulars of player versus player systems in an online environment. Constructive feedback would be really appreciated.
