A little update:

At this point we have good deal of new members from this forum and some casual in-game recruiting, and there´s room for more.
We´re not aiming for large numbers here, so it is important to some degree that anyone considering joining us take a wee time to read up on our website, especially our single rule and all the stuff you don´t have to do.
Please keep in mind that all the stuff you don´t have to, can´t be expected of others either.

Another thing, one that caused a little confusion for a few new members, were about how one could get the rank of Core Pixel.
It should be clearer at the website description now, and just for the sake of cutting it in stone here;
to gain the rank of Core Pixel in game, one have to be representing the guild and apply on our website for membership. Then the rank comes automatically after 1 week.
It takes less than ½ a minute to apply and the apps are sorted each day.

- 2 other questions that pops up repeatedly, are which server and what kind of experience we expect from our members. Easy answered:
We have our home at the Far Shiverpeaks server and we expect no experience at all..!

Is this your first mmo? No clue what DPS LFG CM means? Its ok, we all start somewhere. The Pixeldolls aim to provide a good stable starting base for new mmo gamers as well, where you can learn at your own pace and at the same time have the possibility to ask questions to more experienced players.

- There´s been quite a few asking in-game if we´re still recruiting, so let me make it a bit clearer; we have no intention to be “the biggest guild”; as you can see in the link above, this guild might not for everyone(surely competitive and dead serious gamers will find it lacking), but we feel confident that the ones who think the Pixeldolls will be the right place for them will find their way, as we see it happens already.
So the possibility of joining us, is ongoing.

A big welcome to each and every newcomer we have had this far

The Pixeldolls is a fairly new small guild founded by the couple LadyBear & Gromarch(me) and we hope to get some new members to our little growing community.

We aim to provide games with a guild-home that sports a relaxed and mature atmosphere, where you could bring your whole family to game in the company of other players who prefer their game time to be fun and void of of obligation, responsibility or work.

We want to see and do it all, learn about the game and all it´s mechanics and content, but without rushing anything; we really want to enjoy the journey and explore all that GW2 has to offer, but each member sets their own pace.

Take a look at our short list of rules in our forum to see if we might be a guild for you.

Should GW2 have levels?

For me, the levels are a handy tool which tell me if I stand a chance entering a new area and hinting if my armor and weapons could use an upgrade, or if they still “match” the areas I venture into.

A: Just like the level of the loot you recieve does not scale down, the waypoint cost reamins like that at your “true” level.

In my opinion: this game is simply not addictive

woodyfly, I hope you´ll never find an addictive game in the words true meaning.

About being “revolutionary”(another quite strong word); a thing that struck me after a while, was that already in the starter area, I subconsciously forgot about the levels, my mind more occupied with what i would find around the next corner.

Most often I realize I´ve suddenly gained a level due to disco-lights erupting from my char, accompanied by some lame one-liner and my biggest gripe is that I feel it happens to often, goes to fast. Yesterday, my main char hit level 70 and it made me sad, though my musket wielding Norn havn´t seen more than 44% of the world.

Now going back into low-level areas to explore really proves how huge a difference all the skills and traits do. The level scaling is not preventing my char from being very powerful there, compared to what it felt like when first entering these areas.

Running around in the areas suited to my level, my Norn don´t cut through mob like a hot knife in butter, for which I am thankful; then where would be no hint of a challenge and I would be bored away from the game.

The big rewards are seldom enough to make me jump in my chair when they unexpectedly arrives.

Is it a genuine game problem or is your perspective skewed?

And I’m talking 1 shot mechanics, for example dungeon mobs/bosses. And some champions have the same. 1 shot kills shouldn’t exist, it’s poor design. 2 shots sure, because you have a chance of surviving and can heal up, giving you that chance to dodge the next hit etc. 1 shot is just hilariously lazy design.

I understand(!) how being oneshottet can be insanely frustrating.
However, if you pay attention to the animation of the mob that oneshots you, you´re likely to see a pattern in the animation giving you a warning of incoming burst damage. Of course there´s a learning curve for that and it´s not a thing I claim to master.
However, not being willing to learn how this game works, does not make it hilariously lazy game design, just lazy gaming.
If you continuesly die this way, you obviously need to change some tactics. That will serve you better than blaming the game for not playing your way.

Rare Crafted Objects Don't Change Appearance Between Tiers?

You get tons and tons of transmutation stones so you can use whatever “skin” you want for each item. I fail to see why people would complain about the looks of any gear if arenanet gives you the means to change it for free.

Well, one reason could be that it would be great, if you didn´t need to change it, to make look different?
The idea of having crafted armor and weapons that stands out and are recognizable as crafted armor and being able to see their tier/level by their looks is a cool thing in my opinion and the big question should be: Why not?
That you can use transmutation stones does not give any reason to neither why there´s no change in looks or why there should not be.

Craft vs Trade Post

It is a game, and it depends on how you would like to play it, imo.

If you´ll like to level up fast, crafting will help doing that. After all, worlds first 80 did it by crafting, though supplied with mats from his guildies.
If this is your approach(being lvl efficient) crafting is the way to go and your only worry should be what to do at lvl 80..

Crafting, imo, is also just fun to play around with, mainly due to the discovery system.
At the end of the day, I think its a matter of taste and which kind of approach you have to your gaming time.
Whatever feels right for you, is right for you.

I do a bit of both, just for the fun of it.
