I like to keep materials in storage “just in case” but that means “just in case I need to sell a bunch of stuff to make some gold” as much as “just in case I need to craft something with them”.

I’m kicking myself because I shoulda done this. Instead I went on a selling spree last summer, and now I’m hurting for mats that are worth way more than what I sold them for to try and get even one piece of ascended gear.

Hey all!

I was curious if anyone would be down to share a few tips for the different types of salvage kits and what they are best for.

Right now I use basic for greens and under, and mystic for fine / exotic (or sell the exotics if they are worth anything).

From what I gather I might have better luck using BL kits for unwanted exotics, since right now I’m leveling a bunch of professions and am hitting the 400-500 wall for many (I’m trying to do ascended gear, what a sink!)

For reference, I’m working on weaponsmith, artificer, huntsman, and jewel crafter.

I’ve actually had a lot of fun getting these up!

Just downloaded this. It solves the odd issue I have on the 32-big client where the Gem store would hardly ever load.

FPS / lag is increased in the client for me.

Malchor’s Leap Texture Bug
I noticed in two spots in Malchor’s leap where there’s a big shadow texture issue. I recorded a 2 min video

And I have some screens of the two locations / my MacBook specs.
In the case of the location between Cathedral and Valley of Lyss, it’s repeatable. The texture issue vanished at one point but reappears when I walk back into the area.

It would be totally unacceptable, from a PR standpoint, for Anet to continue a relationship with DnT after that. It would be rewarding bad behavior. By publicly stating that this is not acceptable they are making it clear that they have standards for the people they place their trust into for their testing environments.

I think this was the right call. It sucks because I’m sure most of DnT are NOT like that, but that’s the nature of the beast in today’s very open internet-driven world. Appearances matter.

No, it’s an abuse of their position. Anet employees should not be attacking any player period. When they let their personal feelings override their job responsibilities there is a bigger problem at stake.

It’s not an attack. It’s making clear that his behavior was unwarranted and not tolerated. He chose to act like a jerk publicly on social media.

Now seeing that your a member of ZoS, and knowing who else is in your guild, I’m not surprised at your defense of Anet….

It was an attack, meant to punish a guy for actions outside of Anet’s responsibilities. If you don’t think it was an attack, start reading the comments after the employee posted it. It was meant to punish and harass and humiliate them.

What does my guild have to do with anything? My old roomate is in ZoS so I was invited as a friend. /shrug?

I was stating my opinion based on my experience in PR and marketing for social media campaigns. From a business standpoint, this was the right call from Anet. #1 rules of using social media is to understand the persona you and your partners put forth. And like I said, if Nike had simply apologized for making a bad joke (and I believe their original intent wasn’t meant to be malicious, it was just presented /perceived in bad taste), it wouldn’t have escalated. But instead Nike’s reactions were on part with typical elitist gamer nonsense.

And whose comments? I don’t see anybody from Anet harassing or humiliating anybody. Publicly making one’s standards and expectations clear is not harassment. I’m not familiar with DnT nor why lots of people dislike them. But based on this incident I still feel Anet made the right call. It would be very bad PR to continue that relationship.

Yeah, back when we had a Mac forum, we had stickies that outlined a bunch of things you needed to do, such as remove badly thought out default behavior in the settings.

Essentially, go into the settings, scroll down and disable the mac beta features. I have no clue why they’re enabled by default.

(Seriously, Anet, if we don’t have a Mac sticky anymore please remove this default setting. It is the cause of much confusion for new Mac players.)

To be fair that setting is kind of awesome if you’re using a trackpad though. But I agree it shouldn’t be turned on by default because people don’t realise that its a game setting purposefully causing it.

Hmm, I’m not having all that much problems as you guys, maybe because I have the latest MacBook Pro? Also, I there’s a little guide a friend of mine sent to me to increase my fps:

“This guide will show you how to take advantage of your Video Ram to instantly boost your fps on the mac client. I’ve been wondering why my mac with good hardware was getting such terrible fps especially in zergs. With this edit I went from average of about 20 fps to about 30 or more fps in LA. In PVE i’m seeing up to 50 compared to about 35 before the edit.
What you will do is edit your config file which defaults your video ram to 256 and change it to the proper amount of video ram your mac has.
(For reference I am using the latest OS X El Capitan)
Step 1: Find out how much video ram your mac has.

• click the Apple menu, go to About This Mac
• click system report
• click graphics/displays in the left-hand column
• find your VRAM (Total) – this is what you will enter in the gw2 config file, mine was 1024 (four times the amount set by default in the config file!)
  Step 2: Edit your GW2 config file
• close Guild Wars 2 if it is running
• go to your applications folder and right click the Guild Wars 2 app
• click show package contents
• open Contents>Resources>Preferences
• open the config file in TextEdit
• find the line that says “VideoRam” = “256” and change the 256 to your VRAM (Total) that you found in step 1
• find the line that says “AGPVertexRam” = “128” and change the 128 to half of your VRAM (Total)
• save and close the file and reopen the Guild Wars 2 app
• enjoy the extra fps!!!
  Hopefully this guide helps anyone else with a Mac who, like me, was frustrated with their low fps!

I’m in the same boat. I’m currently using the highest end default Air and I’m doing a lot better than my 5 year old windows laptop as far as function goes. It gets a little laggy in WvW and the controls take some getting used to (I had to re-bind command-Q…).

But that’s mostly muscle memory problems.

I do notice that accessing the trading post is a problem for me as well.

My trick is to right click an item in my inventory to choose “sell at TP” and it works 90% of the time to quicly load, and I can access the gem store from there.

Otherwise I’d say 80-85% of the time opening up the TP directly won’t load it.

Right now I have some keybinds to zoom in and out but it’s very limited. I was curious if there’s a way to re-bind the mouse scroll wheel to be the main zoom?

So far it’s the only functionality between oSX and Windows that I’m struggling with.

Actually I feel just the opposite. The absolute worst thing, and one of the reasons I hated the end game in WoW, is investing a ton of time and effort in dungeon run after dungeon run and never getting what I wanted. No, just no. That’s the WORST way to do rewards. Such a system certainly doesn’t hide the RNG. IMO it makes it even more irritating. And while killing Uber Lord the Nether Prince the first few times is fun, after the 50th time and still not getting the Helm of Awesomsauce you’ve been busting your kitten for a month to get it’s no longer any fun at all.

I think the point of OP’s suggestion is to make an alternative method of getting the precursor ALONG with the MF.

If you don’t want to grind a boss for it, fine, keep sticking with the MF. But if one of the rare world bosses may also drop it, it gives you something else to do. Take a break from tossing crap into the MF; it’s still gonna be there when you get back.

I like the idea, personally. I hate the concept of the mystic forge and will more than likely just completely shut it out of my mind and pretend it doesn’t exist.

I would, however, love going back around the world and killing world bosses when they’re up. That’s what interests me, not sitting in one spot wasting gold.

Right now JQ is a strange mess, at least during eastern US morning time. I actually end up in a queue (a fairly short one, but still a queue) and then when I get in, either everyone is afk, off doing pve (I hate you people, by the way, it’s fine to hit a point or kill something on your way to somewhere, but if there is a queue, you should not dedicate more time than that to pve!), or scattered all over the map.

So it’s queue, but no forces, not even a disorganized zerg.

Also, what is it with you guys and bridges? You just love those bridges. Some of the criticism on here from the other two servers is dead on accurate, rude as they’re being about expressing it.

Anyway, I figure it this way. We’re going to drop in the ranking, we might even lose our next matchup and go down more. Hopefully, though, in a few weeks either your average JQ WvW player with learn something, or follow people who know what they’re doing (in voice chat or otherwise), or they’ll get tired of losing and at least the queue will go away.

I’m still learning, too, so when I realize that something we’re doing is a really bad idea, we’re in deep trouble.

Oh well, the best servers have nowhere to go but down, and some servers are unlucky enough to simply not have either enough players or enough coverage to come through no matter how good they are. We, on the other hand, supposedly have the numbers and coverage, so we have things to work for.

I’m a JQ player and every time I’ve managed to WvW, I have seen us lose due to stupid moves.

I was scouting and told /team that a supply camp and tower were COMPLETELY UNDEFENDED, for about 30 minutes, before I was able to finally organize a group to take it.

I warned the team that HoD had 3 siege weapons being built close to some point we owned. NOBODY came to help knock them down.

Nobody defends. Nobody builds weapons in strategic locations. I get on our TS and only one channel is ever full, the channels for the other 3 maps are empty.

JQ is suffering from total and complete lack of communication.

We are going to lose our spot in tier 1 to ET very soon if we don’t get our kitten together.
