I’d like to see this. Here’s some thoughts on how it could work.

Each player purchases a marriage licence using gold or gems. Then both players present their licences to a NPC to join their accounts in marriage. Polygamy not permitted in Tyria.

Married accounts could have:

- Access to a secondary “joint bank”. To share materials / equipment etc.
- Access to a secondary “joint wallet”. To share gold / gems / tokens etc.
- Account bound items are shareable between the married accounts.

Would also need to have a divorce process so the two accounts could be un-joined. Each player purchases a divorce licence with gold or gems and presents to the NPC to break the marriage. Any items / tokens / gold / gems etc contained within the joint bank or wallet would be destroyed if not removed before completing the divorce. Or the process could be prevented from being completed until the bank / wallet had been emptied. Any account bound items get automatically returned to the original account they were bound to.

I think this is just more of the same “time vs reward”. The people doing it probably just want to get in and out with their tokens and a chest in as little time as possible. I’ve never found P2 any harder than P1…. just longer.

Unlike running by the bridge mobs in P1, this “skip” is clearly an “exploit” that has spread like wildfire and should be at the top of the fix list.

This past weekend while looking for a dungeon PUG, I noticed a few posts on gw2lfg advertising item / gold giveaways. Posts that said something about being done with the game, giving away gold or items and for interested parties to send the poster a mail to get free stuff…. or different versions of that.

Who thinks these were legit… or some kind of scam? Any potential benefit gained by the poster from gathering all those character names / account id’s? Would love to think there’s just nice people out there who wanted to give back to the community the cynic in me thinks “ok, what’s the angle here?”

I don’t much care either way about there being an achievement for forging a legendary. I do think it would be appropriate if there was some kind of special animation at the forge when it happened. You know, like the ground shakes, the toilet waters pulse and a beam of light shoots up to the sky… or something. Maybe give the person forging it a “vista style” camera pan as it happens to make them feel like something “legendary” is happening and give a sense of “oooooo someone just made a shiny” for the other players in the vicinity.

Couldn’t agree more! Nothing makes an “epic battle” feel less epic than not seeing 9/10 of the people fighting along side you. Also it’s sad to to be in a bustling city that appears to be deserted beyond a 15 foot radius.

I salvage with the mystic salvage kit. If there has been a nerf, it’s a really small 1. I average over the long haul just under an ecto per rare salvaged.

Maybe if I salvage 20 rares, I get 18 or 19 ecots…maybe even 17. I haven’t noticed a huge difference. Of course, that has nothing to do with the master salvage kit.

Similar experience here. I salvaged 30 rares last night with mystic kit. Rares were a mixture of high 70’s and lvl 80 items (20 from loot drops and 10 from dungeon token purchases). Between the 0’s and 3’s I ended up with 31 ectos at the end.

Yes, that is correct. I don’t post “Engineer LFG” and wait to be invited. As laharl.8435 pointed out most people aren’t scanning that page to find and /invite members. They just post L#FM and wait for peeps to /join them. I also don’t whisper “I’m an engineer, can I join?” to the people who have posted LF#M. By the time you’re half done typing that… 5 other people have sent /join requests and the the group is full.

Perhaps I didn’t explained myself well enough: I don’t have problems finding groups for the dungeon, just having problems finding groups for that dungeon when advertising that class.

And that’s probably whats causing you grief my friend. Stop spending time “advertising”. Send /join requests and enjoy running CoF until you’ve got gold and tokens coming out your ears.

Also , yesterday when I checked it, there was only one LFG, for specific classes not randoms, posted there for about 20 minutes.

This one, I can’t explain. Are you on EU server? NA page always seems to have a handful of non profession specific groups forming up at any given time.

the only people that have it easy with that class are those that are in guilds or run with steady groups. If you were trying to find randoms, you would see how that goes.

Just to clarify my previous post. I don’t run CoF with a guild, I don’t run CoF with a steady group. I run CoF with my engineer, exclusively with pugs found on gw2lfg.com. At any given time when I feel like running that dungeon… all I do is pull up lfg.com and look for posters in the top third of the page who are LF#M and aren’t saying “must be X class or have Y gear”. Then i start sending /join requests. The first few, the game will usually pop a message up saying the party or guild is full. So I refresh the page and try again.

Right now at 08:00 on a weekday there are five posts the fit that criteria, all less than five minutes old with new ones popping up every few minutes. You have to be quick on the draw, the groups fill up fast. Refresh the page, identify a suitable post, ctrl-c the character name, then jump over to your game and type /join then ctrl-v and hit enter.

Seriously, try it. It works fine.

Don’t change the mesmer boulder part. Profession uniqueness is one of the things that makes this game fun. World of Warcraft dropped the ball hard on that one after a few expansions and in my eyes suffered a lot because of it.

I spent 40 minutes today trying to find a group for my Engineer, then I had to switch to another, more “wanted” class.

Dude I’m sorry, I can’t explain why you have trouble finding a group with your Eng and I don’t. I play NA server, usually between 19:00 and 21:00 on weekdays and at random times on the weekend. I just pull up lfg.com and send a /join to any poster who is LFM and doesn’t say must be X class and have Y gear. There’s half a dozen posts up there right now less than 4 minutes old that fit that criteria. Never had an issue.

This doesn’t compute. I run CoF 1 & 2 all the time with my Engineer. Both “Regular” runs and P1 farming groups. I never have to wait more then a few minutes to get a party. Sure there’s a lot of “zerk warrior / mesmer only, ping gear!” posts to sort through but still… I usually only have to refresh the page a couple of times to find something.

Did a P1 run last night with me (Eng) plus two rangers and two thief. We had a blast.

At the end of the day, I don’t think there’s anything wrong with the fact that the game mechanics allow a mesmer to portal his/her party through the boulders. It’s just something that a mesmer can uniquely contribute to a party running this dungeon. There’s things a guardian is contributing that a mesmer can not, same goes for all professions.

Isn’t that why there’s different classes in any mmo? So that everyone can uniquely contribute something that perhaps another profession can not. GW2 may not have the holy trinity but each class still has its strengths and weaknesses when it comes to a given situation. How boring would it be if we were all the same?

The dungeons reset once every 24hrs at the same time each day. Technically… if you haven’t run it already that day and did one run right before the reset and one right after, you could get 60 tokens twice from that path on that character for that day.

There’s a known issue with the UI scaling. Check to see if you have yours set to “small”. If so, change it back to normal and the text should be readable again.

If you don’t like it, you can turn it off in the options menu… but it turns off all AoE rings, including the red ones that show you something nasty is about to damage you. I learned that one the hard way.

I was experiencing various flashing textures with nvidia 310.90. Rolled back to 306.97 and the problem seems to be gone.

I run games like Far Cry 3 and Borderlands 2 well above medium-high settings, yet Gw 2 repeatedly crashes my system.

So you may not be having a hardware problem. Read the forums, there are others out there like you.

Thanks but the problem was not isolated to GW2. It also crashed to black and went in to the restart/ crash loop when watching a video on youtube.

Thanks for your comments everyone. The laptop is only about 8 months old. It’s still under manufacturers warranty in addition to the retailers “in-store product replacement plan”. I took it in and their service dept is doing a diagnosis as we speak. The guy I spoke to also suspects some kind of hardware failure.

I guess now I’ll find out if the IPS plan was worth the price I paid…. fingers crossed.

Looking to tech savvy community members for some opinions as to what could be wrong with my laptop.

Was playing GW2 for about 10 min when it went completely dead. Screen went black, all power shut off. Then it tried to restart itself but went black again before before reaching the “starting windows” screen. This loop continues indefinitely, tries to reboot – goes dead – tries to reboot – goes dead. Had to hold the power button in to break the cycle.

Let it sit over night. The next morning was able to get to the desktop but within 10-15 minutes it was doing the same thing again.

Thoughts?

ANet, want to stimulate some instant revenue from the gem store??? Instead of a virtual sale on virtual items for virtual currency…. how about a sale price on the gems themselves?

Go to nVidia control panel and disable Ambient Occlusion from “Manage 3D settings”

OP is correct. I was having the similar issues with transparent terrain. Hasn’t happened since I disabled Ambient Occlusion from nVidia control panel.

I had a similar issue two nights ago. Client would just keep saying “connection error – retrying” and would never get to the log on screen. Had just updated to AVG 2013 the night before, firewall was blocking connection.

Dang, that sucks, I don’t know. Only other thing I can suggest, if you haven’t already, is to forward one of those emails to tech support. Describe what you’ve done and ask them to confirm that email you’re still getting is actually from arenanet in the first place. Maybe the bad guys only know your email address is accociated with a GW2 account and they’re sending you phishing emails. Best of luck sorting it out.

If you’re getting that email, it doesn’t necessarily mean you have a virus. It does mean some hacker already has your account name and password. Email authentication is the last line of defense from areanet when your account info has been compromised.

You should read recent post on the main page from Mike O’Brien on account security:

“So keep in mind, if you ever see an unexpected email asking you to validate a login attempt from a location where you’re not playing from, that means a hacker already knows your account name and password! The only thing that’s keeping him from logging in as you is the email authentication system! Change your password immediately.”
