I find myself running around WvW with Null field & Feedback most of the time.
Was a mainly support build using GS/Staff. My frd did pointed out it was a missmatch. , but Berserker are so useful. Anyway, It works well with ZvZ , but fail in 1v1 situation.

So had been making adjustment to my build to fully utilise both Skills to work for me in 1v1 situation.

Idea is when i am ever caught in a 1v1 situation. i could still make use of both skills offensively by applying loads of conditions.

Tried out the build last night and was pretty impress.
However, i am still unsure between Torch & Pistol.
Torch was really handy in wvw. “prestige” save my kitten more then once, but Phantasam Mage’s usefulness is questionable. Everyone know how useful pistol is , so i will leave it at that.
I have yet to switch between Sceptor & Sword. My past experience with Sceptor was crap. But since the recent buff to sceptor, i had heard nice stuff.

Anyway looking for some CC, or any suggestion on how i can incorporate GS into build. Missing my GS already

Null Field & Feedback AOE Question

“Feedback on the current fotm turtling portal “blob” means instadeath.

However tempting it is to cast it on the 50 person blob ive learned to not do it, cause every single time so far ive dropped in 2-3 seconds due to every person and their mother having retaliation (not to mention every other boon in the game). If im in a safe spot and got allies near i can still do it, just to pretend the damage it does is worth reviving me, but in all honestly i guess the damage is instantly negated by heals and regen..

Now, this is what doesnt make sense imo, how come their attacks bouncing back at them procs retaliation on me? Yes i cast the feedback, but its their own damage (i bet the game counts it as feedback damage though, but still!)..

And just in case someone comes and says i should have used null field first, i did, but either its not stripping boons fast enough or its not hitting everyone.

Just some whine cause im prevented from using the most fun ability i have on the perfect target of it

Retaliation is a kitten. IMO really defeat the purpose on one of Mesmers’ most useful WvW skills, when you need it the most.

Pertaining to Null field, its too hard to test out. I did a search online and got back some result pertaining to its effect. I am rather disappointed, since this Question is asked because i want to know Null field effectiveness in an anti-Turtle Strats my guild is developing against.

Thanks for confirming this, that Feedback have no target restriction. This explain why i get down by retaliation is a few seconds during keep defense.

So i reckon no one know anything about Null field it seems.

I am quite curious as to the AOE 5 target limitation had been enforced on both ability. I generally WvW most of the time, and had not really tested out on this. As you may imagine, its rather hard to perform field test on both skills.

Was hoping someone who perhaps had already did some test, might be able to assist me in answering this question.

HoD vs JQ vs ET

Funny, when I went to bed this morning we had narrowed JQs lead to around 2k. I now see a screen shot where they are up over 10k…

W/e. Tired of spending 3-5g a day for HoD and spending my time SOLO building siege. Then seeing commanders getting all the props for the walls me and a couple others took down. Then seeing a karma farmer with a commander tag make us lose stuff since most seem only interested in farming. But who cares, right?

I will still fight but I am through paying gold and running supplies with the handful of others who do as well, total waste of time and money on my part. A totally thankless job. Amusingly enough it seems other guilds/players know this too after I am seeing tags that were on HoD are now on JQ. Good stuff. Free transfers = win win win!

To the JQ bandwagon!

To Unsung Heroes of HoD, that contributed to HoD initial success.

You see HoD players is sacrificing their “Fun” to contribute, and spread the “Fun” to other servers.

We all know “Challenges are fun”. So being a Challenge to your server. HoD deserve some thanks for their hard work in spreading the “Fun” around.

You need a change of perspective, Instead of challenging TA to move from HoD.

Treat it like its WvW on Explorer mode for your server (which ever server you are from). You see asking TA to move from HoD is like ANet nerfing WvW. Why not gear up ( gank up) to Down HoD the WvW boss instead?

Not sure if i can get a reply.

1) Would really appreciate having some perspective on ANet’s take on the huge influx of free Xfer to top WvW servers. IMO community sorting themselves out, had not seems to quite work out as expected .

2) Also to Lock the free Xfer & encourage Xfer to lower populated servers by incentivising ppl & guilds ( at the very least not penalising them).

+1 . Totally agree.

ANet really needs to do something about this. My server works hard to capture keeps, and the next thing you know? some American guild nightcaped our keeps the next day.

Will definitely help improve the overall SEA/Oceanic prime time battles.

You know what needs changing? Freaking lock the server transfer already!!!

server’s WvW population was unbalance enough at launch. Free Transfer is just making the problem more apparent.

No consequence in loosing. No sweat you can just transfer over to the wining server of the day and feel good about yourselves. /facepalm

Ok so the scoreboard isn’t the problem.

People giving up when they’re losing is.

How do they know they’re losing.. the scoreboard?

Sorry Sky all the evidence clearly proves it’s not the scoreboard…

…I’d say it’s the American education system.

Not all People give up when they are losing. Some strive to do better.

Its the mentality behind losing that determine " to Give up "or “not to”.

The score board is not the problem. As it serve both purpose of rallying & demoralising a losing servers.

it is when the “Gap” becomes too big. People then starts to realise it becomes a pointless uphill battle.

@ Tzash : Don’t think we can even be comparing WvW to a Sport, or War for that matter (since everyone enjoy referencing this). As both Sport & War has consequences. Athletics lost their jobs when they lose. War lost lives when they lose.
But i do agree your opinion on fairweather players are so very true.

*edit : we lacking som consequences for losing. Just imagine getting lock into a server 1 week after launch. People who stuck in losing server would have strive to do better (currently you just Xfer up), or just give up ( which some are already doing either ways) so no lost there.

IMO they can use a revamp to the score board system. Making result less impactful psychologically. By splitting the one week battles into Segments/rounds (daily/bi-daily scoring resets). Just like Tennis. Just like Badminton. Etc..

Server population =\= WvW population.

It just happen that major of their Server population make up their WvW population too.
As some server with full population status might not be that into WvW currently, but do really well few months from now. you never know.

Reckon the spawn rate is fine. Its the Damage output when trigger. Real punishing.

Keep the AOEs down, run past them, kill them as they spawn, stand in a safe spot etc etc.

Yep i know. Just commenting the spawn rate is fine, but imo the damage output is rather punishing.

Hi op are you talking about CM explorer? I am looking to farm for my first lvl 80 set. If Cof explorer is as easy as CM explorer, I might start farming Cof for lvl80 gear before proceeding to farm TA.

But seriously , avoiding those crazy flowers is harder then it sound. In the forward/ forward route there are times you might only find a small area at a corner to do this. Finding a small patch was just part of the equation, as knights and necromancers does aoe attacks. Someone will always die it seems.

For the up path. Do you clear the Wurms alley before fyonna?
It was tough because the Wurms at the back, was able to aoe our melee killing the Wurm in the front. Not to mention there are flowers around, it makes things even tougher. If you where to dodge the aoe for the Wurms shooting at the back, chances are you will trigger the flower’s poison aoe.

Btw my group discover that pulling the nightmare court into water, make them easier to kill. It was in the room after 1st Wurm boss. That don’t quite matter really, as I later realise you are able to just dodge pass them and head on to the portal boss room and there are no other water area to utilise for killing the nughtmare court mobs. .

@ Asterick, I reckon the spawn rate is fine even if it’s little crazy. It’s the dot damage output kills really fast.

TA Explorer Mode Recap.

So i just hit 80 earlier this week, and decided to give Dungeons a go. Not to mention the gears looks really awesome.

Well for the sense of completion, i manage to complete AC & CM Story and Explorer mode with random pugs.

TA story mode was rather straight forward, no complains there, but TA explorer mode was seriously tough ( measured base on repair cost).

1st run with Pugs -
I grouped up with four lvl60 -ish, and i was the only lvl80. We got wiped several time at the Wurm boss before calling it a day.

  • I later know this dungeon difficulty was meant for level 80, which is way above the recommended level requirement of level 55. I reckon this is why i sense a sudden jump
    in difficulty ( i might be mistaken, please enlighten me if so).

2nd run with Pugs –
Manage to gather a bunch of lvl 80s pugs. We manage to down the first Wurm boss with a couple of deaths. We later proceeded to choose forward/forward path ( i was later told this was the most difficult path choice -_-). The real boss in this path are the mobs. Along the way we lost some players and we mainly a 4-man team through to the end. So after several deaths (about 10+ to 20 silver worth of repairs), we got to the Boss Laurent(couldn’t recall the name). We try to employ kite & reset strategy, but ultimately failed due to the 2-3 Knights’ chain Aoe Stun leap. The initial person that aggro the mob seems impossible to escape this chain attack. We tried stealth, dodge teleport, etc ( seems like no way around this). Also Kitting too far in will automatically trigger a reset & auto heal themselves.

**Need advise on the Laurent Boss, i am unable see any strategy to get around this.

3rd & 4th run with pugs –
Down the Wurm boss. Some experience folks told us to do the Up path.
He guide us through, and this is mainly by running pass mobs and basically everything and to only fight boss. We manage to complete it Yeah!

  • From my 3rd & 4th run i came to the conclusion, that running pass mobs is how it is supposed to be played. Reason being flowers are respawning really fast and the mobs takes too long to kill. Path with a Chain of Wurms is not encouraging you to stay and fight it out.
  • on the 4th run. We cleared the spider boss. But for some reason all the Eggs hatched later on in the game ( i was certain no one touch anything). I did not encounter this on my 3rd run. Running pass the spiders is close to impossible. When you Aggro 1 of the spiders, you seems to be pulling all the spiders in the room. Anyone else experience the Egg auto hatched?

This is not a QQ thread. I just want to know how people get around TA explorer, and also to learn if some of the mechanics are working as intended.

The only QQ i have is that the dungeon stated lvl 55.

The 15 minutes cycle and SM 35 points is quite nice change.

Now waiting for alarm clocker server’s to get fixed by splinting scoring into three 8h zones:
17:00-01:00 100% of points
01:00-09:00 25% of points
09:00-17:00 40% of points

To punish off peak players? Lol the world only consist of US players?

He is from EU server.

I reckon Nightcapping is especially true in EU. Still don’t justified punishing EU players that work Odd shifts & play during EU’s off peaks.

As for NA servers. Its working as intended.

As many successful (and unsuccessful) stonemist sieges have shown us, killing the keep lord is only part of the battle. However, the upper floors will now become almost useless, which is disappointing to say the least.

That was why i reckon splitting SM to 2 individual capping points on both Level 1 and Level 2. This might make the full capturing of SM even more exciting.

Granted it is not well thought out on the overarching impact of the game strategy itself.

The problem with that, would be Team A could have defeated the Castle Lord below, but if Team B is already up on the 2nd floor they would cap the keep with no effort.

I really think this is temporary until they fix that bug.

Let’s hope this changes is really a temporary implementation.

I am already foreseeing some exciting conflict over SM basing on this change.

I think this is a temporary fix until they can get the bug with the Keep Lord being able to be attacked from underneath on the first floor.

(Yes, I said bug because if it wasn’t ArenaNet wouldn’t have changed it. So I guess this answers that question once and for all…)

I reckon you might be right.

Another walk around for this bug is perhaps having the Cap point to remain on the 2nd level. Which is the whole purpose of what 2nd floor of the Castle was design for.

With the move of Castle Lord & Bodyguards moving to 1st floor will promote more conflict & harder for defending force to hold.

The both promoted points, is something i will really enjoy seeing. The big “But” in this is 2nd floor becomes pointless. The 3rd floor still serve the purpose, as a staging ground for Keep Sieges.

May i suggest instead of Moving of Castle Lord, have instead 2 capping points.

With the total Stone-mist points being split between both capping points. This will promote more conflict between servers in the quest to fully capture Stone-mist Castle.

I really hate seeing 2nd lvl of Stone-mist gone to waste.

Would like to suggest to remove to the negative drawbacks for guilds moving to lower populated worlds.

I reckon it is a negative drawback for any guilds considering to move into a lower populated server. At least till the free transfer period ends.

This might promote guilds in high populated server to migrate over.

There is already a LFG fuction in the contact list.

Expanding the LFG options for Dungeons will really help. Its definitely better then spamming map chat for AC’s dungeon run. Considering as more people hit lvl80, lower level maps get increasingly quiet.

Raising the Cap will not help much. If you consider the Full server ratio to WvW caps.

The only solution to this is moving to less populated server before free world transfer closes.

I am actually glad the xp reward for dolyaks escorting had been removed. People are actually escorting the Dolyaks for the Server > rewards.

If this is the result of removing xp reward , i sincerely hope this removal stays permanent.

Infact transfer the XP reward to people who spend gold upgrading structures.

Reporting / Blocking - Mailers

Recently I had been receiving unsolicited in-game mail. I wasn’t able to blocking/reporting the user with option that was made available in the chatbox.

Please do include the above option. Gold-sellers are starting to spam mailboxes instead of being out in the open spamming map chat.
