No worries, my computer probably really shouldn’t even be trying to run the game, but it’s all I’ve got. I run a custom made machine that I was going to upgrade, but lost my job around the time I would have, and don’t make enough to do so now.
Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit, Intel Core 2 Duo CPU E4500 @2.20GHz, 3.5GB usable RAM out of 8GB installed (because it’s 32bit), and the 650 Ti as I mentioned above. I use Speccy and my temps are all below 85 degrees fahrenheit while idle, and never rise above 105.
I’ve also gotten rid of the old drivers, installed the most recent ones, repaired the GW2 client, and defragmented. After all of which, I restarted the machine, and still get the same results.

I’ve had graphical issues since release, so I updated my RAM and graphics card (To an Nvidia 9800 GT) back in October, and still had many graphical issues, errors, freezes, and crashes. I was having menus and AoE ground target skills turn into green and blue grids, as did cutscenes, character models, and environment textures.
I upgraded my graphics card again, to an EVGA NVidia GeForce GTX 650 Ti, and for 45m-1hr, I was running most of the graphical options on high with some on medium. It was absolutely beautiful, and I knew why so many people had recommended using those settings. Then, out of nowhere all of my previous problems came rushing back tenfold. I am having the same problems with this card, as I had with my old one, with an added bonus, yellow!
I know I need to upgrade my entire machine, but I’m broke. I don’t have cash on hand for even a cheap quick fix, so I am wondering if there’s anything I can do, beyond lowering all graphical settings to low as I’ve already done to no avail, or if my situation is completely hopeless and I should just find another game.
If you play around with it using the mouse, you’ll see you can move it back down. I helped a guildie with this exact issue last night. Just try clicking(holding) and dragging.
I agree completely. PvE and WvW has the community working together whereas these bounties do not, even though they are supposedly meant to do so. I did one with another guild and in map chat we had other people from two other guilds essentially going the “too bad, so sad” or “sucks to be you, then” when we were asking for assistance on the location. It’s not an ideal situation for smaller guilds to fork over tons of influence or whatever to do these, especially if they aren’t able to complete them. You’d think the developers in charge of this content would think ahead to these situations and realize the world isn’t all rainbows and kittens. It’s basic human nature… If two or more guilds are after the same bounty, it’s more likely going to become a competition, not mutual cooperation.
Yeah, every other race has waist width change depending on which body type you pick, so I’d assume a female norn should too. I noticed that creating my thief, but it just didn’t bother me all that much, I guess.
Not to come off as offensive, but you’re not really asking for help here, it’s more like panhandling or begging. 3 gold isn’t really all that much if you think about it. Find things to sell on the trading post, do a ton of events, a few dungeons if you feel like it, complete maps, and just play the game. I am pretty casual and don’t farm or grind anything, I just play when I can and have fun, and I’ve got close to 10 gold myself, plus a bunch of things I could sell. It’s really not that hard, just takes some effort on your part.
Shift+Ctrl+H I think to get rid of the HUD, and print screen button on keyboard in a spot or area doing some awesome skill. Or just stand there looking hardcore with a really nice background, and bam.
I agree, to a point. Yes there is a filter, but that doesn’t mean to use profanity in excess, especially not in map chat. I would suggest to keep it minimal even in guild chat if you have a lot of people on that aren’t familiar with your type of personality. GW2 is great at monitoring this sort of stuff, they wouldn’t have issued a temp ban at random. I have problems with swearing, too, but that’s why I don’t type in map chat very often, and use my guild’s teamspeak.
Someone feel like telling me how to get there? I like a lot of people could not experience the Lost Shores event due to work/sleep schedule conflicts.
Just tossing my two cents in here. Friends and myself, too, have been experiencing lag spikes in mostly PvE, but also sPvP and WvWvW, and we’re from TEXAS. (Where the game servers are supposedly running from…)
I’ll have to give this a try. I experience the exact same issues, sometimes every 5-10 minutes, and it gets really annoying/frustrating. Especially when fast travelling. My system specs seem to be more than compatible with what the game requires, too… Thanks for sharing this. I’m at work right now, but when I get home I’ll give this a shot. If it works, I’ll update this post.
Update: It didn’t completely fix the issue, but I can go for quite awhile before I crash. Going to attempt Cruz’s fix as well, and maybe together they help.

Ok, so it’s working for some people, and broken for the vast majority of others. Seems legit.
Guildies and I have also tried multiple characters with differing combo effects, trying the combo with the opening strike, and with the final kill. It seems completely random. Learning how to use our combos is not the issue, so please don’t assume it’s player fault automatically, as many people in the zone I was in were doing multiple combo fields all throughout the kill of the intended target, and still getting zero results, the same as us.
