Working to finish my herald as well. I’m still missing elite skill, is there anyway to stop that constant, annoying “you are missing skill from slot” blinking?
I really, really, really want to like it, but after few hours I feel like I’m getting just frustrated instead of having fun. Right now I feel like I’d rather get Hero Points for my Revenant in Tyria. I’ve only been in the first zone so far, are the other zones different?
If you have work/school then I’d say that release time is great for eu players, since most likely there will be problems at start (“Never play on release/patch day”). When you get home you hopefully get to play somewhat fixed game.
I’ll borrow this thread for a second. This is the first time I’m playing GW2 during Halloween, is there something I should absolutely do/see? I don’t want to miss anything important/cool.

if you cant do 40 hero points on day 1 idk what to say, most are " eat this" or " duel this noob"
Yeah… most likely it won’t be that simple. Do I need masteries to get to them? Do I need masteries to get to the other zones? Are they harder, do I need group for them? Are they blocked by events? And so on, we have no idea yet how easy/hard it is to get the hero points.
From wiki:
With the Hero points gained only from leveling a character to level 80 it is possible to unlock all core skills and traits entirely.
You can’t unlock Glint, unless you have unlocked ALL of the core specs/traits/skills.
EDIT
Unlocking your elite spec is a training line in your training panel that costs hero points. You do need to have trained all the existing training lines before you’re allowed to put hero points into your elite spec.

I’d insta 80 if i hadn’t taken a 2 year hiatus and thus haven’t collected enough tomes.
Best i can do is level 53.
I can’t tome to lvl 80 either, but I’ve gathered enough mats to craft rest of the levels.

Why was this info released 3 days before launch and not month or two ago?

So about 400-500 hero points? Yeah… I don’t think I’ll unlock elite specs for all my characters. Unless there are hero challenges everywhere in the jungle.
Scroll/tome/craft to lvl 80. After that, not sure yet. I might explore few zones in Tyria before heading to the new zones, depends how you unlock elite specs.

What I’m wondering is why is ArenaNet not telling us anything more specific about this? They can’t still be deciding it, can they? And if they do know how many Hero Points is will take to get the Elite Specs, why not just tell everyone so we can prepare for it better?
That’s exactly what I’ve been wondering. If we really need A LOT of hero points, there is going to be a kittenstorm in the forums.

The optimist in me wants to think that the lack of information means it won’t be too difficult to unlock elite specs.
Haven’t been able to play myself, but after watching some streams, those Glint screams need to be nerfed.
I thought it was shield too, but yeah, arrowhead does make more sense. :P
Not that it makes a huge difference, but has level 80 been confirmed? Third spec slot opens at lvl 71.
I really hope that it doesn’t take too long to open elite specs up.
Assuming leveling through PvE world exploring, seems like Sigil of Speed/swiftness on kill -food will be pretty much required for Revenant.
I also know that you can preview armour and weapons, however can’t you only preview the default armour you are given at the mists, the lvl 80 default PVP gear?
There are PvP lockers near the vendors, you can preview most (all?) models from there, or at least the ones your Warrior can use. The lockers are to your right when you enter Heart of the Mists.
Since you just started, you probably don’t know yet that you can preview the armor and weapons in the pvp area from the pvp lockers (Heart of the Mists, there is a “PvP” button in the top left of your screen). You can access it with low level characters, you only need to complete the tutorial (not sure if that is needed, but it will only take few minutes). And since you already have a Norn, you just need to make a Charr to check the armor/weapons.
Should help you decide which race you want to roll.
