Again, the argument isn’t difficulty. I respect that you are willing and capable of soloing it. But please address the rest of my points, Cerberus.
NOU (pout face) But seriously, I would be kitten if they changed a thing.
LoL. Fair enough on your point.

I am seeing gating, grinding and a whole bunch of what ANet said would never happen in GW2?
I’ll try and explain the best I can and how players are interpreting it.
Gating-people do not like the fact that to get some of the hero points, they need to have certain masteries. However, you can get a few mastery levels fairly quickly, and you mainly just need the first level of gliding and mushroom jumping to comfortably navigate maguuma.
Grinding-People who’s primary reason to buy HoT for the elite specs, myself included, hate that it takes 400 hero points (40 hp in maguuma) to get the elite specs. However, masteries are account bound, meaning that you can enter the maguuma on any character later down the line, and get the HP far easier and faster.
Difficulty-this one I 100% disagree with so will just summarize and leave out my opinion. People are not liking that some mobs can do huge amounts of damage to you, as well as the fact that some of the HP spawn champs that are hard to tackle alone. Pretty much, they don’t like they can’t solo all of the content.
Thank you for your feedback.
Everyone who has responded, thank you for your responses. This has helped me a lot.

Fair point Xenon. Thank you.

MHCerberus, the argument isn’t difficulty, it is soloability along with easy to find players when needed && no grinding to get what you want (within reason).

Psygo, that is what I had read. I just wanted confirmation either way.
That said, if ANet keeps their ears to the ground, they may find the backlash to be real and change some things.
However, I have seen ANet publically admit to wrong doings and admitting it AND attemted to rectify the situation in the past. Fingers Crossed thay it still is a thing for them
-Kevin Fogg
Thank you, Ran. This feedback is honestly helpful.
The reason I ask is because I am debating on buying this or not.
-Kevin Fogg
Pyrate, thanks for the direct answer. A lot of what I have read really has been disheartening, though. I will investigate further. Now, that said, Pyrate, do you consider yourself casual or hardcore?
Akk (if I may), it is a shame that a lot of our community resorts to this behavior.

Thank you Sarky and Widow. Had I seen this on another thread, I would have been a Third.

Update:
Please close/delete this post. I had to manually update my video drivers. I am logged in. Thank you for those that were going to help.

My version of Windows 8 was forced into converting into 8.1. I was planning on finishing my map sometime soon. Here’s the problem:
My client fails to launch at all. I can bring up the recent news, and click “Play”, but the client itself fails to load. DxDiag is attached.
Anyone with any advice, please help. Thanks in advance!

This is true. I literally said that in my post. You really put absolutely no effort into looking did you…

GvG in the works? How about guild halls? I know that I put no searching into it. Flame on about it. I understand.
But I am curious if anyone’s seen or heard anything to support or disprove that they will be hosting anything of the sort.
Thanks.

Looking for a casual, “do what you want, but with guildies” guild. I prefer WvWvW, but I do run dungeons. Looking for active players. But, must be mature, in the fact that I am father of six and am about to start work offshore. Must not get kicked out because of my play capability.
I have one of every profession, have played since launch -3 months (three months after launch), am still the leader of a dead/dying guild with nice perks still attached.

Sandra, you got me thinking.
And I went in and played around with the display settings on my computer. Somehow, I had dedicated the NVIDIA card to strictly a second monitor. But, I reset the settings. Now I am logged in and playing! Thanks for the help, everyone!

I think this is your issue. You need to update to the correct drivers.
I updated the driver using the auto-detect tool. Still same problem.

So does anyone else have any other suggestions?
-Kevin Fogg
I just attempted the “create shortcut, make it a repair, run the repair” and that was unsuccessful. Frustrating…
-Kevin Fogg
Well, I tried that, abmally, nothing. Any other suggestions?
-Kevin Fogg
Did you get a crash report?
No, Sandra. I did not. It crashes back to desktop without any report.
-Kevin Fogg
First, let me say, I have the game set to auto login.
That said, when I click on the client to login, the game logs in, counts down, screen flashes black, then lastly, the background flashes black and my desktop in a strobing manner.
After 2-3 seconds of the flashing, the client crashes. I am curious as to what is going on. Here is my dxdiag. Any legitimate help would be great. Thanks!

Awesome. I appreciate your responses.
Thanks, guys!

I know that there hasn’t been any official announcement on this yet…but!
Has anyone heard of when/if they are going to introduce Guild Halls and GvG aspects? If so, can you link the source? I am really trying to get things prepared for my guild to start doing some GvG and have been trying to get a few to do some 8-man tactics, builds, etc. Thanks!
-Kevin Fogg
Mods, please remove. This guild no longer exists.
-Kevin Fogg
The problem is is that no one that was in the guild played. The one guy that was in the guild that was active was a GM from another guild and had a specific rank of his own, “Ambassador”. Very few privileges and the like.
But I made a new guild, Merely Myth [MM]. So I am going to build that one up. I just hate losing those upgrades that I had, as well as the 2k influence that was ready to spend.

I had no problem with my 8 character password with at least 1 uppercase letter and 1 number, but these new password requirements are ridiculous. I wasn’t able to change my password until after 10 tries and by that point it was at 13 characters long with an uppercase letter and number. It’s just as strong as it was before and having to make some long drawn out password is ridiculous.
This is more demanding than military passwords or what corporate Active Directory accounts have.
That said, at the very least, you know that it will be next to impossible for your account to be hacked.
-Kevin Fogg
Actually, to add on to what I am wanting with this. Also, add a “Last Time Represented” tab to it as well. For those guild masters that are “HEY! YOU MUST REPRESENT US AT ALL TIMES OR YOUR FIRED!!!”
I personally don’t require anyone to Rep us unless they are WvWvW’ing, but otherwise, I don’t care. Even when they are WvWvW’ing, I just ask that they do rep us because it helps the guild help the server.
-Kevin Fogg
But in GW1 it was a boon for guild management for officers and masters alike, but having a “Last logged in” feature that is in the guild window. This allows me to see the last time someone logged in to my guild, and if I have rules that are set that stated “Anyone inactive for a month will be placed on probation/removed”, then I am able to do so.
Just a small suggestion. And if I am overlooking this, someone please tell me that I am and show me where it is. I will gladly remove this post. Thank you!

To go on top of the password vaults, there’s an easy way to make a strong password: Hold the Shift button, press one of the following letters four times: q, w, e, r, t, u, i, o, p. Then press the number above that four times: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 0. Next, release the Shift button and press a DIFFERENT LETTER of the list before four times. Finally, use the number above that four times. Example would look like this: “YYYY^^^^qqqq1111”. There’s a pattern there, yes, but there’s a capital letter, a special character, a lowercase letter, and a number. But it is a strong password. And because of the pattern, its easier to remember.
I would like to note that I do not use this method for my password, but I did use it for NIPERNET Access while I was in the Navy.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news…but…I think yours will end up on the same as mine…earn the gems, buy another x-fer. They don’t help people who make a mistake like that. Mine was my kids’ mistake, but I am still not going to get help. C’est la vie.
-Kevin Fogg
beefjus, I am sorry nothing has happened to help you out yet. I hope it does get reversed.
My wife and I are both pulling for you!
-Kevin Fogg
Noone ever was playing. I had a handful of people that played at launch and have since quit. The one person that I put up as an Ambassador from another guild (GM from TC) doesn’t have invite powers. And noone reps the guild, so noone knows “I left”. I appreciate the information, Penguin, but I hope they can actually help me out. If not, I am going to have to work hard again…or I could actually get back into putting the guild together…
-Kevin Fogg
Hi. I had my account logged in. My kids played around on my account when I stepped away for a moment. When I came back, I was no longer in the guild that I had made. Can I get assistance? I am on Eredon Terrace, was Guild Master of of Renegades of Kryta [RoK]. Fiddle Tinkergolem, Ryu Neko, and Miriam Quinmill were just a couple of my characters.
If I can have assistance with this, it would be appreciated. Thank you very much.

Another thing to consider is that they released the Gem Cards this passed weekend. People came to GW2 to not have to pay to play. That included the Gems. Trading IGC for Gems which could be considered RMT for ANet, the people that think it would be worth it that DO NOT posses a credit card are going to their local game-trading store and are going to be flooding the market and probably going to drive prices down for a while until it stabilizes. I have a feeling that ANet knows what they want to accomplish and they are going to do just that. In the meantime, play their game that they allow you to play and allow them to do as they wish. Its their game, you’re in their universe.
-Kevin Fogg
Out of curiosity, how many feel that a 100% free market would be a good idea?
John, I agree with most of who have said here. I have flipped on my free time and come to find out that there’s a lot that goes on behind closed doors. A completely free market would have its pros and cons. If you take out the floor, then there’s no price that is too cheap, thus dampening the TP’s use in the first place.
CON: If you actually allow people the freedom to do what they want, it will completely throw a screwball in the system completely. Allowing the players to set the economy in a game that you’ve worked so hard to make sure that its fair for everyone would just kill the experience.
PRO: (Subjectively speaking) Anyone who is a flipper and sees potential profit to be made with any item is going to do everything that they can do to make that profit. They will sit and watch the market even more closely and will make a drastic profit on the items that they watch.
My opinion: Coming from a flipper and someone who has watched the market closely, it would undo the delicate fibers of webbing that you have sewn into the experience that is GW2. I say no, don’t allow a free market. It will crumble what you have built and discourage people to use the system.
-Kevin Fogg
When a few take advantage of a system to gain an unfair advantage over others, that’s a problem to be fixed.
Are you insinuating that market flipping is taking advantage of something? If so, how? Where’s the exploit?
To that effect, wouldn’t you say that a Mesmer’s Illusions are an exploit of the system. They give off a mirror image of the character and is easily exploitable toward combat.
My point is this, just because you’re not willing to put in the time to make a profit TP flipping, there’s no reason that others can’t. Just as someone said, its another form of PvP. That may be so, but you can catch some really good steals if you’re willing to keep an eye on the market.
-Kevin Fogg
Although I love the idea of the guild merging, I could see that getting a no-go because someone could create about 2-3 guilds, bot 1 or 2 alts (not actual botting, but the following bot thing), run events, get the rep to unlock different items, then merge guilds. Voila! Bigger, better guild with less work!
The reason for the no waypoints near major battle areas for WvWvW keeps from the auto-zerging from happening. I understand the reasoning behind the distance and disallowing for warping in there, but it does allow for a major zerg to happen out of nowhere and key areas being taken down quickly without much problem. This takes away from the part of actually marching with your guild. Otherwise, the other two, I like.
-Kevin Fogg
Clark, because of the market playing, that causes fluxing in the market. This allows for people actually buy for less and sell for more. It is because of market flippers that you are able to keep the market fluctuating. I think that the competitiveness of the market actually keeps it fresh for people who are wanting to kill time and are willing to put in the research of the items.
If you’re trying to maximize profit of what you’re selling: click the item, find out what the current market is (by “current market” I mean that you see which price the item is most available on), check how frequently the item moves, place your item up for sale for just under the market if it moves quickly. If it doesn’t, then you should sell it for maybe 1-2c less than what the lowest seller is going for. That ensures that you’re going to sell your item and that you get the price that you want while getting the item sold within a decent amount of time.
That’s my 2c. GL out there!
-Kevin Fogg
As the title says, often in the heat of battle you get focused on surviving and/or dealing damage (especially as a thief, or other class being played glass cannon). It would be cool if we could have some kind of audio indicator that a teammate is downed, to pull our attention to the party UI. I feel this really goes with the design philosophy of having players watch the action, not the UI. Of course it would be toggle-able but this mechanic worked very well in Left 4 Dead, even if it was the character shouting “I need some help here” much like the NPCs do in dungeons.
They have indicators for this. I am sorry if this has already been said, but, there’s the mini-map, a blue “REZ ME!” sign that sticks over their head out not to mention the red health bar on the left.
That being said…I like the idea of it, but I also do want it to be adjustable like your volume bars.

Wouldn’t it be Inscriptionist?

I am the guild master. Today, I queued up an upgrade for my guild. The only other rank that has permission to alter the upgrade queues hasn’t been on in two days. When I logged in again, the build was gone. Possible solution/refund of influence?

The Renegades of Kryta is recruiting all manner of players! Based on Eredon Terrace, we want to promote a fun filled community. We are actively seeking WvWvW players to dominate our fields and am willing to work toward getting people their “Commander” title.

I have created a few different guilds so far in my quest to find the perfect guild name/server. I finally found one that I liked and I am thinking about sticking where I am.
My bug comes from when I ORIGINALLY made my current guild, my ranking structure was completely FUBAR’d. The only permission I had was to edit guild ranks. I had no vault access, no MotD editing power, couldn’t setup anything else except the names and rank symbols for my guild ranks.
Frustrated, I disbanded the guild and made the same exact one again. Everything is happy-kitten-dorey for now, but I wanted to make the dev’s aware of this glitch.
GL out there!

I found the area that I was looking for. It was kind of obscure. It was West of Lamia Mine on Plains of Ashford. Keep an eye out for those two if you’re doing the same as I am! GL out there, Champions!

Today, I logged on to my lowly 19 warrior, Ryu Neko…I am trying to find out the last two points on the map and cannot seem to find them on the Plains of Ashford methinks. Any suggestions on how to find these last two points? It is beginning to be frustrating. Thanks!

Great question! I want to know the answer to this as well.
