What system would be better? (no sarcasm) I don’t see how one gathering method is inherently more flawed than the other. Percentages for each type of gathering tool can easily be adjusted to account for usefulness/availability of the resource.
I don’t think the tag-and-runners of us, are inherently jerks. The majority of people I have encountered in this game are willing to help people at the drop of a hat (myself included) if possible. I think it’s just proof that the event was very poorly designed. I’m not trying to bash A-net, I mean this is a fairly rare fail for them. You can’t blame people for trying to get compensated for their efforts.
Moisting? Ew no. But it’s not a terrible idea.
I think the way for them to sell more of these things is to actually make each one as useful as the watchwork pick. Maybe give each different type of pick a chance for a different extra resource, and bonuses for the logging axes and sickles too.
PopeUrban, that’s a pretty good idea.
I think the biggest issue for me is the idea, that if I ever reach 300% MF, 1/7 of my daily log in rewards become useless. Economy imbalance would be a problem, but maybe add something where combining four exotic essences of luck in the mystic forge gives you a chance for a mystic forge stone or some other limited, but relatively useful item, or a low chance for runes/orbs/doubloons, etc.
1. Secondary, swappable armor and weapon sets that are in your character screen that can be swapped out with the click of one button when not in combat. This would save inventory space, and allow people to have secondary builds that they could switch to when the situation dictates. This would go hand in hand with save-able specs/builds.
2. More underwater content. I know most people don’t like underwater stuff too much, but i think the addition of underwater world bosses, a major city, and possible a dungeon would encourage people to learn their class’s underwater skills better. Also, I think a distance indicator for a targeted mob underwater would help people that have depth perception issues. And for goodness sake, exotic/more plentiful underwater breathers.
3. As others have said, better use of the home instance and customization of this area. Although Wildstar had many issues, this was one area of that game that shined for me. Logging out here had bonuses (xp boosts and such) and tons of customization. People even built their own jumping puzzles! For a game that’s mostly about end game cosmetics, home building/decorating fits perfectly. You could even add a woodworking or artist crafting profession to add some content geared towards this.
It’s nice that you guys have acknowledged that the event was not up to snuff. That being said, these are my thoughts:
Activities should encourage cooperation (pve) or competition (pvp). This event encouraged only selfishness, as maximum rewards could ONLY be gained by event hopping and being out for yourself.
Secondly, the rewards sucked. You can have drops from mobs and xp, karma, gold rewards without encouraging event failures. Just make the rewards for success better than the rewards for constant mob farming. Your current reward tier system for how much you contribute to an event already works nicely, and 1 bloom for copper-3 blooms for gold level participation would be adequate. This rewards players for actually finishing events and ensures that the guy that tags 3 events gets roughly the same rewards as the guy that stays and finishes one.
This event was a rare misstep for you Anet, just use your current game play mechanics that work. I hope you do another event soon giving people a chance to get the rewards they wanted or use the blooms they had left over from this one while giving them activities that they can actually enjoy and that give them a feeling of accomplishment and time well spent.

I’m sorry if you’ve had an issue there, but everytime i’ve wp’d out, there are no vines blocking the way.
Then you must have died very early in the fight, because the vines appear somewhere around 1 minute after champion fight starts, and prevent people from returning, or new people from joining for the rest of the champ fight.
It’s likely that my deaths either occurred early enough for me to get back in, or late enough that the champ was killed or failed before I got back, so I may be mistaken there. The point is still moot, however, as you’ll get credit regardless. (Assuming you did ANYTHING while in there).
The only reasons I can see for not WP out are laziness, or fear of not getting credit. Neither are valid reasons.

(unless your in Vinewrath’s area and then if you die you can’t get back in at all if you waypoint)
First of all, this is simply not true. I have WP’d dozens of times during the champ encounters, and have always been able to run back in. Plus, even if you can’t get back in time, you still get full credit. It’s a win/win.
Secondly, the dead do count toward scaling up the boss fight, at least for a little while. Since we don’t know how long it takes for the boss to descale in this instance, it’s better for you to just WP if you are dead, mostly because in these big fights, (Teq, VW, etc.) there are going to be more than just you dead. 5-10 dead can seriously hurt a boss encounter, especially if everyone is stopping to rez them.
I actually enjoy rezzing ppl, and will do it if you are simply downed. Everyone should as it is relatively fast and gets them back into the fight quickly. But if you are dead, WP.
Well I don’t know how you got back in past the vines that BLOCK the path after you’ve first gone in. I have quite a few times been disconnected come back in only to find Im blocked from Vinewrath AND i don’t get credit. Also one one of the paths I died 2 times due to lag and when I WP’s and ran back i could not get in and again I didn’t get credit. So if you got in well done but I know others that haven’t gotten back in as well.
I’m sorry if you’ve had an issue there, but everytime i’ve wp’d out, there are no vines blocking the way. You can’t go into a DIFFERENT path due to the debuff, but the one you died in should be as simple as running back in. Plus I’ve gotten credit while being halfway between the modrem champ and Camp Resolve.
As far as saying ty, say it WHILE getting rezzed. I appreciate manners, but once you’re up, get back in there and help us.
