Jon, May I ask in all seriousness, what is the engineer’s core role?
Another reason for an engineer to not get a legendary…cant even pick stats for build diversity….guess we all should be running zerker like they want
It’s something we’re absolutely aware of and want to address in the future, one of my main characters is an engineer so I feel ya on this one. My poor quaggan backpack is visible like 2% of the time I play as I kit swap, never mind my weapon skins.
We’re currently focusing our engineering (programmers, not guys with net guns) resources that could work on solutions to issues like kits/skins on major systems that address issues higher priority and wider reaching like lag in large battles, LFG, custom arenas, spectator mode and so on but this issue is absolutely on our radar.
As always, please post your ideas of what you’d like to see solution wise, we love to see the fun ideas y’all come up with too!
So we have culling removed, LFG coming next patch, spectator mode, ascended weapons, revamped world bosses next patch also. Has this issue of legendaries been moved close to the top now? Update on this would be really nice thx Colin!
Really would be nice to get an answer from the devs about all of these engineer “end game” issues. How about a developer comment for the engineer forum?
Another disappointment for engineer. Hobo sacks, hidden back pieces, legendaries that don’t work with kits, legendary shield that when throws..throws a wooden shield, and on and on. I love the class, I love the game, but for a game that’s essentially about aesthetics for this point in the game when I’ve done about all you can do… Not much incentive to keep playing. I just wish someone from Arenanet would comment about all these problems. That would solve so many problems if we just knew there was a fix to some/all of these problems coming.
I really hope they do fix this issue because it is a huge problem with end game for engineers. I’ve made legendaries for other classes even though my main and favorite class to play is Engineer. I know Colin said they know its an issue but until a change is made my main will sadly never get a Legendary.
I dont think people should be complaining about the content for SAB. It is truly awesome. I think the complaints of favoritism toward certain classes are well warranted. Pistols were completely skipped in the Halloween content. Whomever makes the decisions about content have always put the pistol and rifle on the lower tier of the totem pole. Great sword is ALWAYS in EVERYTHING. I think people are suggesting that mabey there should be some excitement generated for the not so popular classes in the game instead of it always being Warrior, Guardian etc. As an Engineer, I love playing the class even though we have major balance issues, it’s still a blast to play. May be in future content releases the pistol, rifle, dagger(etc more neglected weapons) should be put ahead of the numerous Great sword skins out there already. Anyway awesome job on the SAB Josh! Glad there is a dev who plays Engy out there!
@Fairymore – On a side note as an asura – Mega man blaster = totally make up for omission in this patch

Agreed, the cursor is constantly lost (hard to see (as a ground targeting grenadier) with all of the explosions and effects while in combat and the F key is a major issue with trying to loot while on the move between events.
Also hitting same problem at pen and shelter with groups of 10+ and then 0 and then the next will be 10+.

^^ agreed they shouldnt have changed the only thing that made it somewhat asuran – the purple projectiles and laser looking grenade barrage and wrench throw. I have it all done and most of teh coin saved for precursor but now it dont feel it is asuran at all so im torn about getting it. Does anyone know if the aura and steps work while using a engineer kit? or does it only work while using the rifle?

Can anyone confirm that the grenade barrage and wrench throw special effects were removed? I have been saving up for this legendary and am almost there and this changes a lot for me. As an Engineer, I am switching in and out of kits so the glow and footsteps is nice, but the toolbelt skills were the extra things that made this worth it to me.

Can anyone answer if this is working properly? I have never seen any of my mines explode even if mobs are standing on them. The “timed” portion of the title suggests a timer but does anyone know how long it is?
agreed. The toolkit alone with the wrench, crowbar, magnet shield could all have different skins or particle effects or anything. Only having pistol, shield or rifle is extremely limiting.
