No trinity builds. I like not having to look for a “tank” and a “healer” anymore.

^ This.

But I can understand it is rather frustrating because many of us are so used to the holy trinity concept. I’m still trying to break the habit of barrelling into a mob, wanting to tank it. :P Aaand, yeah…then quickly reminded I’m playing a DIFFERENT game.

Gold sellers now including 1 copper in their mail so you can't delete it...

I haven’t received any spam mail with copper included YET, but glad I noticed this thread. I have just been reporting the messages — but glad to know if we take the copper we won’t get banned. I’m also glad they finally add a “Selling gold” reason when reporting — it’s getting a little crazy.

Now, off to check the announcements to see what else I have missed. Thanks for the info, Revenant.

Voice talent generally not so… talented?

linatribal.5246

I have mixed feelings about the voice acting in the game. There are times it’s great, and there are other times I just feel like it’s pretty cheesy. Overall, I like the majority of it, although as others have stated, it is still “vanilla” and there is always room for improvement in the future.

I’m glad they put more into the gameplay rather and just focusing on voice-acting, though. Heck, I’m just happy Nolan North is part of the casting.

Which Drake to take?

in Ranger

Posted by: linatribal.5246

linatribal.5246

I also like the Ice drake. It’s probably the best looking, and I like to use it both on and land and in water. Frost Breath/Frost Nova skill can be pretty handy when you feel overwhelmed. But if you’re looking for actual damage output, that’s somewhat of a tough one. The River Drake seems to do well, but I can’t stand the appearance. Of course, that doesn’t mean it should be ignored — if only they would reskin it.

Frankly, I still stick to my Ice Drake, although generally I mainly use a bear and Moa on land, bear and shark in water (because Bear Sharks are awesome :P).

All in all, I really think it just comes down to personal preference.

New Pets: Ideas/Suggestions

Bats would be a nice addition. I would be happy to even purchase new or unique pets from the gem shop. I know there are a couple ones given for the Hall of Monuments (which is a nice touch), but it would be kind of fun to have some more “rare” pets released over time. And also rare pets that are fairly strong (like…DA BEAR).

I still REALLY want a black raptor. But I don’t want it to be so squishy in battle I wouldn’t be able to use it.

Silent Striders - Casual Guild [Borlis Pass]

in Guilds

linatribal.5246

I wanted to make a second post to to let others know we are still recruiting. We are still a very small guild, but would love to make a few new friends of any profession, race, level or experience. A lot of us are new to Guild Wars 2, having just played BWE — and some of us have migrated over from (whispers lowly) WoW.

At the moment, the members in our guild range from early 20s to early 30s in age — and we are mostly looking for members within this age group, but are perfectly fine if a member has a younger sibling or younger family member they wish to invite; we are family-friendly after all.
-- Although I would LOVE to have more people to reminisce or joke about the 80s with…because it would be so “rad”. (Oh yes…I said it.)

The current goal for the guild is to recruit new, friendly and committed members. Once we reach this goal, we would also like to organize an active website and use Vent.

Again, we are a casual guild — and would be perfect for players who are new to the game (most of us are…LoL), or perhaps work and can’t be on 24-7.

(Eek…I apologize if we aren’t allowed to double post….)

Someone said they were able to get it while on the overflow server — anyone tried that yet?

• The NPC, Brission the Blue is missing, although his text speech still shows up in-game.
• Borlis Pass

I’ve checked 4 days in a row in that area and still nothing. However, another player said they were able to get it while in the overflow. Haven’t tried that though. I suppose we can enjoy a nice dip in the hot springs while we wait for a fix.

I keep running up to people trying to tame their pets. It’s annoying and embarrassing, heh.

“Holy crap! A Juvenile Black Moa! Oh wait…” -facepalm-

It’s especially frustrating around those Vista points where the pet owner is out of sight and the pet is just chilling out on a ledge. Shame on me for being so gullible….LoL.

So, I agree — just add “Tamed” to the name or if it is a bug, please fix it.

Dinky Appreciation Thread

in Charr

Posted by: linatribal.5246

I was so tickled when I chose Dinky as my sparring partner. I thoroughly enjoyed the comic relief — it has never been “over the top” or cheesy. He was also so helpful as a companion. During BWE, I made the mistake of picking Reeva as my sparring partner for my thief character and it was TOUGH. So, I started over again and chose Dinky, and wow, it was a lot easier and more amusing.

Nothing against the other warband characters —- he just seems the most enjoyable, in my opinion.

Your Charr's Personality

in Charr

Posted by: linatribal.5246

linatribal.5246

Topic title pretty much says it all. There’s the in-game mechanic where your character’s personality is determined by choices you’ve made at character creation and interaction with NPCs (charm/dignity/ferocity), or perhaps you’d like to share your charr’s personality from a frequent, roleplayer perspective. Feel free to share!
______________________________________
My warrior charr has a noble personality in-game. She’s quite the opposite of my BWE charr, which was classified as a brute – ALWAYS focused on ferocity options.

While I don’t normally roleplay — I have grown very attached to my Charr character and tend to find myself interacting with players (and of course the NPCs) in a ‘noble’ manner (bowing or saluting to them, etc), rather than just a “Thanks” or whatever. It’s rather surprising, but I guess I’ve become so attached to her noble personality, that’s rubbing off on me.

Option to disable audio "tells" (adrenaline, etc.)

in Suggestions

Posted by: linatribal.5246

linatribal.5246

I agree — I would love to have this option for both your character or other characters. When my female charr randomly yells “Gaining adrenaline”, it gets pretty annoying (and sometimes startling). Shoot, I often feel bad for my party members when they have to hear my character shout out “For Great Justice!” over and over again.

I certainly don’t mind the voice-acting in general, but just as others have stated, it’s too repetitive and sometimes corny-sounding when it comes to the audio notifications.

playing a warrior, game feels like a zergfest

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: linatribal.5246

linatribal.5246

I too had some challenges with my warrior — but I was struggling with the whole tanking or “hack n’ slash” mindset for awhile there and quickly learned to be a little more tactical and patient.

My warrior focuses on bleeds – so I use two swords & a rifle for ranged. While I could dish out damage, I would die just as quickly in melee range without having really good defense (oh ho ho ho, especially in those dungeons). So, I took points out of Power traits and simply put them into Tactics and already saw some improvement in survivability. You’ll just have to really focus on tweaking your character, looking at different builds and see what works best for you.

It’s frustrating, I know — I’ve been smacked around numerous times in personal stories and dungeons, but you’ll get better finding a good balanced build like Jax suggested, and practice. Keep at it! :]

"RRRAGGHH!!!!" Charr constantly in pain?

in Audio

Posted by: linatribal.5246

linatribal.5246

Yeah, my charr also does this, and quite often it seems. It’s very frustrating when you are trying to really focus on some of those more difficult Vista jumps only to be startled by a scream of death from a mere “hop”. I end up usually reacting by accidentally rolling forward after being startled and then really do fall to my death. LoL.

I suppose disabling sound at times like this would be wise until they can fix it. :B

Need help choosing weapons for my Warrior.

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: linatribal.5246

linatribal.5246

For my damage-based warrior, I use dual-swords or a rifle to inflict bleed stacks and focus on condition damage and precision stats on weapons and gear. I put points in Arms, Strength and Discipline trait lines.

It’s a pretty good build for questing, but I had some issues with it during AC. I did include some control and support skills, but I might have to reconsider a different trait line build to re-spec in for dungeon runs.

But, I will say the Two-handed sword moves are soooo sweet! :B

Not sure if these are just easier professions to play, or what. My very first GW2 character and even my beta character was a thief. It was fun, but a lot more challenging.
