Can never really make a static group but I pugged a ton back in the day on my warrior. I’m fine with playing the zerk support build but will this work with pugs? Personal dps too low? What if there’s a second mesmer

I reaaaaaaaalllllllllly hope its spear! … like really …
If it is torch … dual wield pls! =p
Spear was a lie and isn’t being released (at least not new spear, you still have harpoon I guess if you’re talking about underwater weapons).
I see a lot of builds recommending Signet of Fury- is it optimal to use this signet at the start of a fight to fill my adrenaline bar for the 15% damage bonus, or is it best used as a passive precision boost? Thanks.
Yet another instance of Ruby Orb’s superiority!
What does the tradability of the weapon matter when they could just buy the gold and circumvent 99% of the difficulty in obtaining the weapon? Karma, tokens, and map completion are so trivial compared to the acquisition of precursor/ t6 mats/ lodestones/ icy runestones that it’s a laugh.
I agree that it’s interesting. It works in an MMO though, do they really expect me to believe that me and the other 1500 people standing around in lion’s arch were all the hero of Tyria? Being a cog in a larger machine at least makes some sense.
I asked: as a warrior what runes or orbs would you run in knight’s armor? And no one could say anything except DITCH KNIGHT’S DITCH KNIGHT’S FULL ZERK FULL ZERK FULL ZERK
I asked them what their reasons were for never running anything but zerk, and it EVENTUALLY came out that you didn’t need any mitigation because a guardian or d/d elementalist can keep you alive
I asked, what if you don’t have these in your party? What if you’re in a PUG and you want some mitigation with knight’s armor?
The general consensus was “join a better guild.” C’mon. I didn’t want to be told to “just use zerk,” I wanted some advice on what to slot into my knight’s armor!

So I made a mesmer originally a few months ago when I was new to the game wanting a ranged character. Lo and behold I become familiar with mesmer and sword is godly! Now I know there’s a predisposition for melee weapons to do more damage than ranged weapons, BUT if I was going to choose a toon to range with, what pumps out the highest numbers?
So with all the debate between 30/0 and 30/25, I have a new favorite build in the patch- 30/30/0/10/0. It mains GS and on swap is the rifle (obviously taking that 5 points and getting rifle mastery). The reason is that I just love the warrior’s rifle skills- it’s incredibly handy to be able to back off and ranged down a foe and though my volleys don’t hit for 30k I have seen them do 20k.
All that aside I have a mathematical question. Per the title, when using a rifle and with 3 bars of adrenaline for 15% higher damage, is it worth it to kill shot? Kill shot has a moderately long cast of 1&3/4 seconds but I have seen it hit for upwards of 20k. To further complicate matters is it worth it to kill shot at 1 bar of adrenaline, 2 bars? There might not be easy answers but I’ll be happy with any feedback, thanks
Edit: forgot to mention this is PVE.

I’m highly doubtful that the crates still drop though. I’ve been out there quite often since the event ended and have never seen a crate drop since Last Stand ended. It’s wishful thinking that the crates are still there and I still have a (extremely rare) chance at getting a blinky staff.
I can confirm that they still drop, but in essence you’re right. Without the 200% magic find bump they are much less frequent and in addition the odds of getting a sclerite weapon are ridiculously low.
Not “without armor”. At 7 minutes in you have a helmet, shoulders and gloves equipped. Their appearance is just turned off.
Seriously… what the hell?
So, I had already done a 100% map completion and decided I did not want to do any more hearts at present but did want a warrior. So… I have spent no skill points since level 15 and know nothing about any of my skills. I intend to be a facerolling greatsword/ rifle warrior- tips?!
P.S. I have enough COF tokens/ pristine fractal relics/ laurels/ guild commendations to be in full exotic/ ascended zerker’s immediately, though I’m waiting a little while to go whole hog because I’m not sure if full zerker will be fractal friendly past 20.

Nope, if you miss it you miss it with living story. It’s only an achievement, plenty of other things to do!
Just buy the zerker’s in my opinion. It’s doubtful you’ll regret it. Some people also go cavalier’s (power toughness crit damage) for WVW.
Bolt seems like the weapon that gets both a fair amount of PVE and WvW usage… I’m leaning towards it!
I’m just finishing up 100% map completion and want to begin working towards the Legendary. My question is, which weapon do you guys think sees more time in a Mesmer who mainly does dungeons and WvW so that I maximize the usage/ on-screen-time of my Legendary, a greatsword or a sword?
I made them. People flipped the heck out when ascended gear was introduced, and a single upgrade there doesn’t give you as many stats as a set of 5 infusions. There is literally no other way to use money in the game to make your character better, so why not make the leap?
I mostly agree that it’s negligible. After 4 infusions it’s 20 though, which is you know at least something
Going to do my first infusion and I can’t dig up whether 5 precision or 5 power would be a better stat bump for my Mesmer.
I’m using GS+ S/F, and for fractals am usually running Knight’s armor with ruby orbs and everything else zerker. As I’ve been getting better I’ve been subbing in more zerker pieces, currently only done that once tho.
Key question being what’s better point for point at this level- power or precision?
The really laborious and somewhat middling risk way is to look at items that are hotly traded, or that you suspect are in high demand (such as berserker’s gear). Multiply the current “buy” price by .85, which are the net TP fees. Then compare that to the highest “offer” price and if there’s a favorable discrepancy between the two beat it by a copper.
This method has the disadvantage that most items that you can do this on have already reached an equilibrium where their offer price is almost exactly 85% of their buy price, if not much higher (approaching buy). The second disadvantage is that you can put 1,000 bids out on the tp, but other users will come and make your bids irrelevant by outbidding YOU by a copper, making all the time you spent clicking and placing those bids void (you have to go and update your bids to stay on top- effectively “babysit” your tp bids- creating a spreadsheet here helps). The third disadvantage is if the market swings against the items you’ve bought. Say you buy sword of stabbing at 10g seeing it sells for 15g. You think yay, profit. Then a day letter it’s selling for 10g, suddenly you’re losing 1.5g.
Other than that, what Lpfan said.
“If you are gonna have any zerker stats gear – you should have it on your weapon, due to the fact that the ratio between crit dmg % and other stats is higher on the weapon.”
I wanted to ask you about this. I looked at the ratio of stats on Knights vs Berserker on Greatsword vs Coat. Knight/GS is 179 Tough 128 Pow 128 Prec, Knight/Coat is 101/72/72. That’s 56% of each stat, on the coat. The ratios on Berserkers are GS: 179/128/9%, Coat: 101/5%/72. In each case the coat has 56% of the stats of the 2-h weapon’s stats. Is there something I’m missing?
So I recently picked up the Super GS skin from SAB and love it, but I already have an exotic Zerker GS that I’m not interested in reskinning (Bramblethorn). How useful is it to have Knight’s GS and perhaps in general a Knight’s set of gear? Is there another prefix you might recommend over Knight’s? My other gear right now is all crafted Berserker exotics.
Spent about an hour and a half getting there, was a little frustrating that we couldn’t figure him out and had the party break up. Tips/tactics?
I started with a mesmer too and I really regret it after I saw what e.g. a warrior could do to mobs in a starting area (actually, in open world PvE I sometimes still envy their efficiency). But I didn’t want to play a warrior again because that’s what I always did. And I’m glad I went through with that decision.
I have been playing mmo’s for a few years and I found the best advice is just play what appeals to you. If you want to play the most popular class, do it, there’s a reason why it’s popular. Likewise a weaker but more stylistically appealing class. I could have made a warrior which looked like it would be easy mode, but it seemed to be lacking some vital essence of interest for me.
I’m in the same boat as the OP, actually came here to post this topic. However I’m probably much worse off, because this is my first ever character. She’s level 13 atm, and after chain dying on some stupid island in the Sylvari starting zone (COVERED in respawning evil mer-men… oh God how I hate them) I took a little break last night. Maybe I should have picked another class but the mesmer style really appealed to me.
