I know this is kinda an anti-trenchcoat thread, but I’ve been wearing this on my Charr Thief, and everytime I try something new it just doesn’t look as good to me. I think it’s the trenchcoat look that I like on him.
The gloves and shoulder look possibly like one of the Norn Heavy cultural tiers. The legs look possibly like Order of the Vigil Heavy. Don’t have any ideas as far as the rest.
Hope this helps a little.
It would be nice if there was more of a balance for the mats. Instead of having a ton of a few types of mats, it would be cool if the T6 mats were mixed in with it. It would give players another way to collect the T6 stuff instead of just trying to make money to buy the T6 mats that you need.
I was disappointed to get to the top of the tower and find nothing new happened. Sadly I wasn’t surprised.
This in a nutshell.
Yay! No more weapons glued to hands!…It’s fixed!
When is the fix coming? Is it even coming?
Or at least if they said “this is not intended and we are looking at it, and working on a fix” The silence about from the developers is very frustrating.
And then the Clockwork Chaos turns out to be a farm festival. And my brain doesn’t know what to decide. The player in me sees this is an opportunity that MUST NOT be missed, but the human being says NOOO – you won’t be happy after.
And I generally dislike the whole situation.
I am going through this same conflict. I haven’t finished a daily in a couple days, and I feel ok about it. I realized that I was playing because I felt like I “had to” not because I wanted to. “Can’t miss a daily” “won’t get my laurel” “won’t finish the meta achievement” “I should be doing an invasion right now” “Think of all the money I’m missing out on”
Thanks for the report, phiplayer! I’ve escalated this issue.
I appreciate that this issue has been escalated. What I would really like to know, is if this is something that is NOT intended. Is it something that is being looked at to be fixed, or is it just the way the game will render now without the newest hardware.
I also found this yesterday while doing map completion in Lornar’s Pass. A “Passed out Drunk” who was standing up and definitely not “passed out”. I know it’s not a huge deal, the npc still responded to my bucket of water, and I got credit with the heart.
The issue is that I have not experienced this kind of stuff in the game before. I’m working on my third 100% map completion. Everything was always very smooth, and very few “errors” like this. Since this last patch I have been experiencing a lot of problems.
An answer one way or the other about this would be helpful. Thanks.
Esc > Options > Graphics Options > Character Model Quality > Set to something higher.. You’re welcome.
This does not work. I would really like to know what the issue is.
I’m so glad I found this thread! I thought I was going crazy, and I really didn’t see anyone else talking about it in my guild or anything. There seems to be no reason for the problem as my pic below shows two NPCs next to each other, one with weapon stowed and the other with it out.
Thanks for this! I’ve been banging my head up against a wall with this same problem for a while. The Coil of the Serpent was what I needed to complete the achievement.
OP, I disagree with you. I missed a good portion of the Aetherblade content, but I still disagree. It’s because, I know that there will be more NEW content right behind it. I think it’s GREAT that all this NEW content is continually being put out. If this content were temporary, and then we had NOTHING to replace it, it would be a problem.
For every opinion about something being wrong or bad for the game, there are just as many other ppl who enjoy it and think it’s great.
Others answered the Lionguard trust issue for Logan. He tells us why he wants to find out who the killer is in the cinematic when he hires Marjorie Delaqua (I know I butchered her name). She asks him, and he says that the Lion’s Arch Councilman who was killed was a good friend of the family.
I’ll give you 10/10 on this, it really comes together well. I’m not a huge fan of that new dragon helm, but it works well with your Arah armor. LOVE the rifle!
Here’s my thief and Warrior. The Warrior is just full Tier 3, but I put a few different things together for the thief. I think the coloring turned out great for both.
And Charr thieves look plain ridiculous.
I beg to differ sir!
Thanks for the reply Ruggan. My main is a warrior, and I do find that gearing him and stat allocation seems much easier. But the Thief is still fun the play
New 80 thief and was a surprised how little my health pool is as a thief. So I’m trying to squeeze a little more health out of my gear. I can get 600 more health for a trade of 70 Condition Damage. Was wondering if it would really make a difference either way. I currently have 13.6K health and 840 Condition Damage. Any ideas? I’m doing this by swapping around the Temple Exotics. Thanks in advance for any help.
Do Charrs eat humans?
Yes.
Thanks! I did a complete restore right before GW2 came out, so I’m sure I forgot to update the drivers. Let’s hope this helps.
I have been having this happen for about a month or so. It used to be every once in a while, but it is getting worse. My computer gets really loud like its in overdrive, then I crash to a grey screen with black vertical lines. I then have to do a hard shut down. It is getting more frequent. It happened about 5 times today in a span of about 30 minutes of just regular play and I had to call it quits.
I’ve ran the repair.exe short cut.
I’ve completely uninstalled and re-installed.
My wife plays on the exact same type of laptop and does not have any issues.

Not only the fact that Noll is bugged and keeping the event quest chain from proceeding, but how about the fact that nothing eludes or clues you in to the fact that Noll must be fought first before anything else can be done.
You need him to work, which he doesn’t.
This entire event is one of the most broken, pathetic events I have ever seen. Given the fact that it is only 3 days long in total, this is a disgrace.
And they patched it last night with what I thought was a FIX! and I totally agree with the above. I’m so disgusted with this and I loved this game up until now. This whole experience has just been terrible.
After looking at Stephane Lo Presti’s Phase 1 update more carefully (which is confusingly written, btw), this seems to be the case:
Because Noll is still bugged, you are effectively stopped in progress after you talk to Blingg. Canach and other NPCs come after Noll, and if you can’t successfully pass Noll, they won’t work for you. So the update by Lo Presti should have better clarified and made obvious that the quest chain is still broken at Noll and there’s no point attempting to do anything else after Blingg until they push the fix to Noll at noon PST today.
BTW for those confused about the proper order of things, I recommend Dulfy’s guide to the Lost Shores stuff: http://dulfy.net/2012/11/16/gw2-lost-shores-event-guide/
You know. HOW is a person supposed to know that you have to do Knoll first. Even in the tool tip on the top right hand corner of the screen it says "The Karka have surfaced in Kessex Hills, Caledon Forrest, and Lions Arch. It even names Kessex Hills before Caledon Forrest!
There is no other way, no clue, no anything, that hints that there is an order to the chain. I’m all about figuring things out and even enjoy it. But this isn’t about figuring out a clue or a something. It just is what it is, and there is no way to know.
Very Frustrated!
Someone came into the Canach fight and said that you needed to fight the Knoll guy in Caledon Forrest first. I’m currently in Caledon Forrest waiting to fight Knoll, who appears to be bugged lol.
This is easily the most frustrating feeling! It seems he only gives out ONE map each time the event happens. THERE IS LIKE A HUNDRED people in this LITTLE room killing him each time. No one knows why, who ever gets the map, is the one to get it. I think it has something to do with the person that Canach is focused on during the fight, but there’s SO much AOE and people in the room going on that you can’t even SEE Canach during the fight.
Please fix again to take into account the HORDES of people doing this event. It’s very hard to believe that the “amount of people” doing this event was not planned for.
I feel like they didn’t even really try. All they had to do was release Lost Shores without the ascended gear and see what would happen. Did their halloween event not draw in a big enough crowd?
Wasn’t the concept that you make fun content and people will play without needing a carrot? Did ArenaNet come to doubt their ability to make content fun?
nah, the biggest mistake ArenaNet ever made was having a forum. With QQ threads demanding more carrots (“I have full exotics already, now what?” “why should i grind 500 hours just for a skin?”), i am not surprise they decide to add some “meaningful progression” after all…
There you go…“Where’s-the-end-game?” crowds 1, Guild War purists 0
This exactly!
How much of this should I expect to see moving forward? I cant handle 80 levels of this,.
Pretty much like every quest is like this. You should stop now!
I support this thread and agree.
Finally a MMO, were I can breathe, were I am not getting out geared by people who play more than me. Finally a MMO with an actual narrative ending. The other MMOs I played didn’t launch with a story that concluded.
It’s funny. Not being forced to do something, strangely enough encourages me to want to play more. In prior MMOs were the carrot-on-a-stick was uber-gear that dropped from long repetitive dungeon crawls fueled by players spamming their stupid rotations, made me not want to participate.
It took very few hours once I had gotten to lvl 80 to buy my exotic (max stats) armor from the TP, and then transmuted it, and bought some nice dye, to get the coolest looking character I’ve ever had in a RPG.
I can put this game on the shelf, or play a little without, a subscription fee or worrying about my friends outgearing me a month from now. Gear treadmill is terrible and exhausting and feels like a second job.
I love that the carrot in GW2 is optional. I don’t think a legendary at this point is viable, but it’s more fun to pursue when you are not being forced to do it. Nobody likes to be forced to do something just to be competitive in the pvp sphere, or to be allowed by the community to run the content.
I hope they will make semi legendary armors and weapons. Mid long term tangible rewards to work towards. And I hope working for those will require me to run through some of my favorite zones levelling up, like Arathi highlands (centaur genocide!!)
Just want to add that I agree with this post 100% and feel the exact same way. Thanks for posting this.
I haven’t had one in several days to maybe a week as well!
Is what you really want something different then WoW or just a different clone of WoW.
It’s a paradox. On the one hand, a lot of people have become burnt out on WoW over the years. They feel that each expansion is just making things worse and they yearn for the “old days” of earlier WoW eras. Being frustrated with WoW’s current content formula, they complain that they want something “new” and “fun”.
Then on the other hand, a new MMO will come out that is “different”. From a non-WoW perspective, it’s usually a mix of “good different” and “bad different”. Inevitably the burned out WoW players rush to this new game in hopes of reliving what they considered to be the prime years of WoW. However every game is unique and these various differences aggravate the WoW players since the changes aren’t what they are used to. This leads to massive complaints, which then leads to developers changing their game during the Alpha / Beta / Live game stages. Due to these accomdations, many of the unique features of the MMO become lost. At the same time, many of the ex-WoW players are still unsatisfied and ultimately leave the new MMO to return to WoW.
This cycle has been repeating itself for probably the last 3-5 years. As WoW continues to show its age as a MMO, the frustration of its players is increasing. However the viscious cycle of MMO hopping and returning to WoW hasn’t slowed down. Most new MMOs implode as a result (though many of the contributing factors are that MMO’s own fault) and the gaming industry awaits the next MMO to continue the cycle.
A very good summary of the cycle!
65 Warrior 10/10!
I’m playing a warrior. And I’m all about keeping up with the story. I’m the only one of my friends that’s actually playing the personal story as I level. Each time I hit the “recommended” level I do the mission. I have had friends come with me at times, but mostly complete them myself. I just read your above post about the medium and light armor classes. I haven’t tried these yet, but I guess I will have to before rendering a full opinion.
Mark8250,
I couldn’t disagree with you more. I have had a great experience with the personal story in GW2. I feel like the game is perfectly balanced. I always seem to complete the mission by the “skin of my teeth”. It feels like an epic battle each time, and I hope that was the developers intent, because it’s working perfectly.
If you are dying in your storyline, its time to put it away for awhile and go catch a few levels before trying again. That or get some help from freinds or guildies.
Agreed. I haven’t had any problems dying during my personal story. I actually think the difficulty is well balanced. I usually complete the missions by the skin of my teeth. It all feels very epic each time.
I thought that was what the developers were going for. If it was, they nailed it for me.
But I kinda feel like I’m the only person that feels this way. Am I?
Yes you are.
I love the personal story! I especially appreciate the way the areas the story takes you too are good places to level. The personal story is also intertwined with story of the areas.
This is great for someone like me who is new to the Guild Wars universe. I feel immersed in the lore!
The game has such an easy flow to it, because of the personal story. Thanks
I had this same problem. I believe it is a bug with the quest. I searched the internet and really only found that others had simply restarted the event by leaving and re-entering the instance several times.
It took me several, like about 5-6 times, of re-starting the event before I got a Sagum that did not have that buff. There was nothing that I did any different each time, so I don’t believe that it is an intended buff. Hope this helps. It’s frustrating but keep trying.
