JQ has done a great job taking advantage of things when we’re at our weakest which is now.
Which is the exact same thing your server does.
True… however the numbers disparity is much greater during the daytime NA hours than it is when JQ numbers are down. Not a complaint but an acknowledgement of JQ doing a better job in overall 24 hour coverage.

I love how every1 in SoR Trash talk about JQ, but u will still lose at the end of the week. U are so pro for winning NA coverage, but while u are in JQ BL u lose everything in the others BLs. So I don’t get the logic in ur actions
If you really read through the posts….not everyone is trash talking …you choose only focus on the “trash talking” posts and claim it to come from “every1”. Get some perspective.

Most of us on SoR play for the fights and to have a good time. We could care less about coming in first. If it happens, it happens….but it isn’t our goal each time we go out there and brawl.
I mean yeah, everyone plays games to have fun but I would expect most people on your server to consider winning a big part of that. It may not be very realistic, but the goal must be to win right?
Just not sure I am buying the whole if it happens it happens thing. People that play in T1 on one of the top servers in the game investing tons of time, effort and in game currency on something that has no reward other than winning makes the statement hard to believe. If it were true it is disappointing. I would hope that anyone in the top tier is there for the primary reason to take top spot.
Regardless…good fights!
I’m from SoR. We have won our matchup 3 times in the last 3 months or so. If the players on SoR cared so much about only winning, we would have stopped playing a long time ago. We are here to have some fun with friends and to enjoy the competition. “Winning” our matchup is clearly secondary.
This is the truth for about 90% of SOR. Yes we have a few who might take things WAY too seriously but most of us really don’t care about being in Tier 1. If anything I’ve heard more than a few on SOR express some concern about not letting being in Tier 1 become the end all be all for us in WvW.

Only a WvW player thinks that PVE is something to do during long queues. (Actually got to see some really cool stuff this weekend for the first time!)
Only WvW player will think to activate all seige while doing a supply runs because he doesn’t want them to go “poof”.
(Already mentioned) Only a WvWer will have experienced maybe1 PVE dungeon while playing GW2 since launch.
Fractals? Zai-who? Lengendary weapons? gold? map completion?

So…with grenth being buffed insanely…
Are the rewards from the chest better or still blues?!
I believe I got 3 greens and 1 rare item last night on SOR.

Ranged weapons seem to help. His aeo’s have only a certain range. So if you stand far enough back, even if you end up in a circle, 1 dodge is plenty to get out of it. If you’re meleeing him you’re pretty much out of luck.
Unless, and I didn’t check this, if his aeo isn’t actually 360 and only goes in front of him, in which case if you want to melee dodge through him not backwards and you’d be okay. But you’d need to go there to check that.
That’s a good point…was on my ranger last night and once I started staying further out at a distance I didn’t die as much.

That was a LOT of fun!!!!

I’m not sure if there’s a middle ground here or not. I understand the concept of discouraging agressive gameplay however, if one server is dominating the map…sometimes it’s hard just to get out of your spawn area w/o dying. The result is even fewer people playing for opposition teams.

I have been on SOR for almost two weeks now after spending some time on a few servers and here’s what I’ve discovered:
1. SOR has a core base of players who have been there from day 1 and really care about the community and is a little upset w/ the antics of a small number of guilds/players. These guilds/players are far more interested in having a fun competitive WvW environment than they are in playing in the tier one match. (IMO the majority fall into this category)
2. Win at all cost players/guilds. Unfortunately, I’ve seen this as well. It’s one thing to push people back to their spawn point after they have tried to capture the tower/camp closest to it. It’s quite another when you basically sit there and pick off every single person who tries to move outside the spawn area. Yeah I know…War is a not far…I get that….however, being so oppressive is a akin the muscle bound jock picking a fight w/ the 90 lb. science geek in school…There’s in fun in that.
3. Cheaters…there are a few here…I have seen/heard about them on each of the four servers I have spent time. Outside of reporting cheats/hacks not sure what can be done.
As for giving up….I’ve seen times when each of them have put up a challenge. I’ve seen small hit and run teams take camps and ck. points from SOR and I thought it was good to see.

Since DB lost most of its WvW folks I’ve been server hopping a bit. I was on IOJ for a few days last week and I was impressed but, really I don’t see how they are significantly better than what I’ve experienced w/ SOR this week. SOR has a scrappy bunch of players who don’t seem to get discouraged when things don’t go their way.

Can we just get a rematch of this tier next week? Maybe swap CD for another server and have a great 3 way match going? I think this is the closest to a real match I have been in. Its Wednesday and we are still talking about who will win.
As a unaffiliated refugee from DB, on SOR now, it’s so nice to see a competitive match this week. I’ve been really impressed w/ SOR’s resiliency. SOS takes over the map, SOR comes back.

I’ve been taking advantage of server hopping this week (started out on Dragonbrand>ET>HOD>IOJ). I will say there is a common theme among the first three servers I was on…they have all experienced an exodus of people in WvW guilds which has dramatically put them at a strategic disadvantage.
I was shocked I was able to transfer to IOJ. I wanted to get a perspective from the other side. On the positive side I did not notice a great deal of boasting or, chest bumping because of IOJ’s lead. Overall people seemed pretty friendly and took pride in their server.
Additionally, I witnessed first hand the numbers advantage IOJ had while almost simultaneously repelling garrison attacks from ET and CD on its East and West gates in the ET borderlands (I think it was ET). I also witnessed if not around the clock full coverage…decent enough coverage to hold onto a sizeable portion of every map.
Based on my limited experience on IOJ I really think they will be competitive over the next few weeks. I have yet to experience a long queue (however many might not be logging into WvW because the result isn’t in doubt).
Congrats IOJ on your success. Good luck next week taking on JQ.

Agree, do away w/ the stat bonuses for orbs and give just karma, xp, and magic find bonuses. The point should be to promote competitve matches not one sided domination furthered w/ stat bonuses.

I posted my travels elsewhere so, I won’t go into detail…After spending Friday getting stomped by many former server folks from Dragonbrand I went to ET & HOD over the weekend. Essentially, they’re not much better than Dragonbrand right now. Both servers have been decimated by big guild alliance transfers creating a huge imbalance.
The big loser in all this is the community. A lot of people talk about skill and organization, both important no doubt but, if you don’t have the numbers to compete, skill and organization can only get you so far.

I have been a big opponent of the mass server transfers by the big guilds in the game…however, after spending a day on Dragonbrand being utterly stomped on by people formerly on that server I decided to check out a couple other servers on my own. First I went to ET Saturday…initially while behind ET was competitive. However, as the day went on it was looking more like Dragonbrand w/ the top server in the group essentially dominating most the majority of the maps. Yesterday I went to HOD…and wow have the mighty fallen. They were no different than folks from Dragonbrand and ET with the exception that I was grouped w/ someone who somehow could build seiges in areas where I couldn’t and could jump onto structures I had no chance of reaching (I’m just an average noob type player I guess). The result was the same…JQ with its numbers advantage decimated any small gains made by HOD on its home map.
The point is on three servers I found players extremely frustrated by the imbalance. From what I can tell the way it’s set up now from week to week large guild alliances can basically determine who wins. Essentially it really does hurt server identity and the server community which I thought was a big selling point of GW2 in the first place by ArenaNet. IMO it hurts the game that many of us love to play.
Hopefully developers can come up with a good solution that will appease the ultra competitive WvW folks and the gamers who really like WvW but just want to see competitve matches and not some one-sided pre-determined domination by the big guild alliances.

Not going to badmouth anyone who decides to leave. Those of us who are still here needs to focus on enjoying our ingame playtime.

Clearly something changed with the GW2 application to create this inivisibility issue. Even though I had some random disconnects early on after launch I didn’t have this issue. It is an issue that has just popped up for me in WvW over the last week.
One thing I’d like to see from Dragonbrand moving forward is to do what we can to keep WvW as much of a fun experience as we can make it even if we are behind on the scoreboard. I had a blast yesterday evening w/ Commander Crystin (sp?) who essentially led a group of us through much of the DB map until invisibility issue became overbearing for us.

I’ve read about Orb hacking in game but, I didn’t understand how there was no orb on the Dragonbrand map yesterday. How is it possible to remove an orb from a map entirely?
WvW issues
1. Server transfer situation
2. Invisibility in WvW
3. Orb hacks/exploits

Pretty much agree w/ just about every poster here. There’s a huge advantage to zerging and taking objectives more so than defending. One afternoon I spent a few hours just defending and upgrading a tower and watching a security check point. Very little xp or karma….a few days ago while running w/ a zerg…I gain 3 lvls and a lot of karma.
I can understand limiting xp/karma in following a supply caravan or just standing on a security checkpoint…however…more needs to be done to give credit for defenders.
Still I can understand why ArenaNet may not want people to just hang out and upgrade objectives. it increases the chances they will be taken…thus making it easier to flip objectives.
I liken this to the NFL or NBA enacting rules to increase scoring and making it difficult (or in our case less attractive) to defend.

You can’t really blame tranfers or Blackgate. They are simply taking advantage of the system that’s currently in place. Being on DB it did feel good to have some success vs. BG especially after they dominated us during the very first WvW.
Essentially ArenaNet needs to modify it’s transfer system… Possibly give players an opportunity to transfer 1 more time and then a player must use a number of gems perhaps equivalent to a $10.00 purchase in order to transfer.

If your guild-mates, who also might be worried about end-game, think they are undergeared for that, then farming out the 25 available dungeons for unique armor, sigils and runes should be helpful.
Did not know there were 25 dungeons in the game. That’s a LOT more than I realized.

If you don’t like they way GW2 Devs implemented “endgame” content…wait a couple weeks and hopefully you can get your fix w/ MOP. Sometimes MMO’s make the mistake of trying to be “all things to all people”. I heard these exact comments while playing SWTOR. GW2 Devs…IMO never sold this as some big focus on endgame but to make the game accessible to everyone who plays it….unfortunately endgame raider types don’t like this model because eliminates their exclusivity to high level content. I applaud ArenaNet for this move.

The game released with a bunch of content so if you are feeling “bored” I would just take a break as you don’t pay sub fees anyhow.
Agree 100%. It amazes how many people have hit level cap in the game already! I never had any desire to rush through the game just to say I hit max level in two days or one week. Since there’s no sub…go….and do something else if you’re bored.
