I was wondering about this, people were giving me a hard time because I kept winning.
However when I first tried the races, I was terrible. I had to race a good 10-15 before I finally started to get it and won a race. I think people are supposed to get the achievement for achieving a win.
When people ask me how I won, I will tell them every trick I know. I won’t give them a win though.
I think people may have missed the point…. this wasn’t specifically about a warrior beating a thief, just the fact that instead of dieing to a class and claiming they are OP, people should try the class first.
I only posted what I learned to do as a warrior, because I play a warrior.
Wow, that sounds amazing. I usually just eat the peach tart ><
What! Were not fashion models, were warriors, we eat meat! Now, eat your steak and go kill something.
Why is it that with 100% swiftness and 100% vigor 13/16sec I still get outrun?

Well there are movement skills like, Bulls charge for example, which you will move rapidly a great distance, or rush with the greatsword, or savage leap with the one handed sword.
These can be great for catching enemys that run a bit quick, like a thief or ele.
Create a character, and play a thief, even to level 16. You will learn a ton of information. I was borderline wanting to create a QQ thread here my self because I was getting wrecked as a warrior in WvW by thieves all the time.
Thieves have a lot of tricks, and a lot of awesome utilites, but they can be countered. When playing on my thief in WvW I had a lvl 80 GS glass canon warrior in full exotics who chased me around for a good 5-10 minutes before my friends arrived and killed him, he could have easily killed me, he just didnt know how.
Now that I am back to playing on my warrior, Im happy to see a thief who spams heart seaker. I just dodge it as they lose initiative. Then beat the crap out of them.
A thief in Daggerstorm? Until a played thief, I used to try to kill them with my rifle, and I thought WTF is this OP skill. Now, I dodge roll into them and hack away with my axe.
Dagger thief just stealthed? I used to sit still and look around with my camera for where they went. Suddenly 3/4 my HP was gone, and I was left in oh kitten mode smashing buttons. Now that I’ve played a thief, I have a good (not always right but good) idea of what they are going to do, and where they are going to go, and how to keep my back away from them even though they are stealthed.
In short, it only takes a few days to learn what thieves do and how to play them, a few days that will change your gameplay and make you a better fighter. Not to mention you wont rage as much.
I guess it depends on your style of play.
If you are someone with a lot of adrenalline all the time, it may just be better to go with the healing surge. For me, I send my adrenaline a lot because I pull out the mace and shield, and want to stun people. So I actually use Mending, with the warhorn and quick breathing trait.
Yes this is a serious issue. I first noticed it when there would be swords in the skritt cave. In short, it looks like the bots transfer to server where its safe and farm.
In our last matchup against Dzag we went to their homelands and saw a group of bots. What you can actually do is wait for the guardian shield to go down, then scorp wire one out of the cluster. Since they auto attack whats nearest to them you can draw them out like a normal mob and kill it.
Aye, I agree something should be done about this. I caught a hacker on screenshots today. If you look at the time at the time on the top, you can see this guy was not traveling at normal speeds.
Also sucks to know that we are struggling to hold onto a tower or two in our home borderlands, and were having to fight hackers on top of it.
We do fight hard. Any Warriors out there who want to fight like a Spartan? This is your chance.
Huh? I go into WvW specced into shout heals, and I tank a lot. I’m in the front lines swinging my axe and blowing my warhorn.
I actually dont use Endure pain anymore, because you can still take a lot of damage with it. It also has a 90 second recharge. 90! thats forever in a battle, I’d rather have a 2k heal every 25 seconds that buffs allies.
Yes it did feel pretty epic. Especially when we broke that first gate. But in Surmia we can pull off some epic stuff, because of the people there. Our randoms, remember supply, and fight hard.
If your new or old to Surmia, let me know, there is a variety of guilds here. Some hardcore, some casual, but we can find the right one for you.
In the last match, Ruins of Surmia came in second place for our bracket. But Surmians, are fighters, so in an attempt to close the 462,832 point lead for first, we made a charge into Stonemist.
Don’t join Ruins of Surmia if you are looking for easy fights, but if you want battles that’ll put hair on your chest, switch on over to us.
I really agree with the needing more than 2 supply to put a wall or gate back together.
One example, We were at cliffside, the enemy trebbed down the wall from garrison. About half the enemy came through the wall when it came crumbling down, the other half was auto attacking the gate. They pushed up the ramp, but we held them there and started to push them back.
What I decided to do was equip endure pain (take no damage from hits) and balanced stance (stability) I ran past the attackers and put 2 supply into the wall, then ran back up the ramp. In short the wall was a wall again, and no one could get through it, the enemy stuck inside were killed, and the enemy outside couldnt reinforce.
Partially the enemies fault tho, when I treb a wall down, I keep trebbing it for a good period of time.
I was wondering if anyone knows what “Momentous Strike” is, I saw it pop up in my combat log, and wasnt quite sure what it was.
I looked it up on Google, and on the wiki but could only find something about Momentous Greatsword, but I wasnt using a greatsword when I got this.
Hereskitten of the combat log…
We really need an oceanic guild to come bolster our night crew. If you go to SBI, you’re gonna get quite long queues for WvW. Come to ET, we like to have fun:
Im not sure about your concept of fun, but marching golems around and shooting into an enemy spawn sounds pretty boring. I go into WvWvW to push a guy, then he pushes me back, then a third guy comes up and punches me in the face.
I was hoping to get some helpful hints in what to do as a warrior when you meet a powerful thief.
I think my biggest problem when fighting thieves is, I just dont know what to do. I think my best move is to pull out the rifle, and when they appear, roll back, watch them run into me and rifle butt them, and try to put a volley in them, but that only does so much.
I kept hearing about Bulls charge to stun them, so I tired that, but when I hit them with bulls charge they vanished, so I was kinda left in that “Uh Oh” moment.
I think my worst enemies are Heartseeker, Pistol Whip, and Cluster Bomb. All these seem to beat the crap out of me, and leave me with 25-50% hp before I can get out.
One thing I was wondering about is, is the thieves quickness like ours? where they take 50% more damage? And if so would you recommend meleeing them at this point or moving away till they lose quickness?
Just to add, I use axe/warhorn and rifle currently, 27k hp and 1.8k toughness (i know its not the best, but im workin on it
So now that the newmatchups have happened, how badly is night capping wrecking your server?

Im from Ruins of Surmia, and were holding off our position for second place right now, which means were right behind first!
Current scores,
Fissure of Woe- 7966 (10)
Ruins of Surmia- 10703 (5)
And at the bottom,
Dzagonur- 88422 (+680)
So… pretty much what happened in our match up is at the start of our match we had 30-40 Dzag at the south gate of Hills and Bay, at the same time, pounding the doors in. We pushed them off a few times by putting all our people in one place, but eventually we tried to hold both keeps, and with only 15-20 defenders at each one we lost em. If being out numbered wasnt bad enough, Dzag was verry cordinated, and their plans were well thought out, with big guilds hitting each objective, so my hats off to them.
Apparently this didnt just happen on our map, but I was looking at FoWs map too, and looks like the same plan was in place there. Pretty much we lost our own borders so those of us that didnt log off went to EB, where we fought till we lost everything there.
And….. in the time to write this post, the scores are now
Fissure of Woe- 7969 (0)
Ruins of Surmia- 10710 (0)
And at the bottom,
Dzagonur- 89328 (+695)
Oh, and if any Fissure of Woe people see this, send me a PM, and lets figgure out what were going to do.
I actually do axe/warhorn and rifle, with shout healing. But honestly, best trait in WvW is the falling damage one. Jump off a tower wall, land on the guys doing rams, run back in, repeat. If they start trying to knock you down, equip balanced stance. if they immobilize you, blow that warhorn!
Anyways I’ve had some epic times with that, watching the entire team try to kill me when I jump down. In the end though they usually get me haha.
Warriors are bad yes, but I think some of the other classes are too. When im in WvW and I see a necro, ele, or warrior down, I know it will be an easy death blow. The rest of the classes, are just annoying.
With thieves and mesmers, I dont bother DBing, I just start dpsing them, so when they move, its faster to just dps them the rest of the way then DB twice.
I saw this thread and figgured to give warhorn a try. I fight in WvW, and with a group, the warhorn rocked. However now that its later in the night, and I’ve gotten into a few one on one fights, im the one getting rocked, and I mean bad. Just fought an ele, and they walked away with full hp, and me with a repair bill.
Thank you for the awesome post though, I think what Ill do is warhorn during the day when there is a group, and rifle/greatsword at nights when the fighting is more like 1v1, or 1v2
1. Sounds costly!
2. Havent heard of this, cant comment
3. This one I can comment on. The problem I see is it works both ways. A cata can attack through a door so attackers cant stand next to it, however the attackers can AOE the doe so its hard has hell to repair it. One other thing I noticed, is you can hundred blades a door and kill people on the other side.
4. This one is being fixed I heard,
5. Just get rid of free transfers and a add a week cool down to transfering, that’ll help fix this. Wont stop people from buying another account though.
Warrior here,
I just wanted to add I’ve used the kill shot and hit someone for 10k without speccing crit damage or anything.
Most of the time though, with full adrenalline built up its a shot between 6-8k
I know this may sound like a lot of damage, but you have to build up to it, and its not instant, takes a bit to use. So if you see a guy kneeling at you with a rifle, start evading, and youll be just fine.
Whiteside Ridge: 177542 (640)

Hey I was wondering if people had some tips for going up against large numbers of enemy. Currently the problem on our server is that we are just too few. We were defending the last thing we owned out of the four maps, and this is what it looked like…
http://img253.imageshack.us/img253/1498/gw002yn.jpg
As you can see, the blue names to red names ratio, isnt so good.
Tried building oil, canons, reinforced walls and gates, but in the end it just takes a little longer for the enemy to take it down.
Also one other thing I tried is dragging the enemy zerg away from the tower, so the guys on the tower can down the siege weapons, but I can never get enough to follow me, maybe 5 or so which usually just ends up in my death :/
My only real tactic has been, capture a camp, gather a few while im capping it, then capture another and gather some more people and eventually form a zerg of our own doing that. But ultimatley, even with our group, we get wiped by far larger numbers.
For now, I guess its back to cappin dem camps so all 4 maps arent the same color hehe.
