Read “traited for full siege” as an ele and was a bit confused.
Then saw OP was from TC, and everything suddenly made sense. So here’s my advice:
I’d definitely recommend a full carrion set, maybe with some rabid trinkets thrown in there because why the hell not. Go full Rune of the Svanir because I’ve seen a lot of people using that from TC lately and if you get focused while on your siege you can turn into a block of ice for 5 seconds and survive! Sigil of Sanctuary pairs really well with Svanir runes because as you rack up tags and kills with your siege you’ll also be getting closer to ANOTHER 5 seconds of invulnerability after your 26th kill, which will really help mitigate damage that you will be taking at that point. It’s like having two separate endure pains available as an ele, and we all know how OP endure pain is from complaints on the war forum!!!! Ele has access to a ton of conditions (burn, bleed, poison from AC, cripple from AC, bleed from AC, chill from cannon, bleed from cannon, bleed from ballista, cripple from oil, burn from mortar, poison from treb cow (cow is highest DPS in my experience and you should always be on treb cowing if you have the chance)), so condi dmg and condi duration stacking is definitely the way to go for staff ele, especially since you’re a TC player and it’s pretty much assumed you will be spending 90%+ of your time in a tower or keep manning siege.
Don’t worry about dropping water fields as that’s not your job, you worked hard to max out those siege mastery so leave that job to some noob who didn’t properly use his WvW mastery points.
This is some of the best advice I have ever read on the forums. I am going to change my set to rabid tonight and prepare for pain through conditions. Imagine dropping bombs with meteor shower of 1k a piece then burning damage with another 1k. Imagine the QQ on the forums immediately after. I cannot wait to bathe in enemy tears after they feel the full wrath of my condition spam.
People that say you cannot interrupt and use the #6 on perplexity runes are misinformed. You can use scorpion wire or sleight of hand, it just takes timing it correctly and knowing animations for other classes. This build is all about the amount of conditions you can stack without being cleansed right away or being able to reapply in a short amount of time.
I would try x/x/30/x/30 with plex runes if bored and put 5 minimum into deadly arts for the poison on steal as there is no way to beat a regen warrior if you have no poison to diminish their heal.
I have been playing around with different gear as I found out that sigil of torment and some on crit sigils are on separate timers meaning that you can stack another 2 conditions every 10 seconds if you crit. So I am testing out dire/rabid gear and like the results so far of being able to stack more conditions randomly. With this setup i still sit around 1550 condition dmg and 2900 toughness, 16.5k health.
The video above is interesting but shows people that are absolutely clueless on how to fight a thief and poor play in general. I would highly suggest if you’re interested in p/d look up laela blackbird on youtube and watch some of those videos as he/she is the best at this build that i’ve seen.
I heard Mag likes to solo roam.
I know whenever i’m having a hard day I take a break, especially when losing to pugs in EB. I would suggest a hearty breakfast tomorrow with some wheaties and coming back at it tomorrow. It’s ok if you lose a couple then as well as not everyone can be on the level of Mag when roaming. Best of luck

Phantasm and condi mesmer are good in 1v1’s, in any other situation I’d rather have an excellent shatter mesmer.
AoN is an excellent group of players, when we used to scrimmage them when they were on FA the fights ended up being 50/50 between the both of us. ONI however did not use any “required” or “optimized” builds.
For you to use “optimization” to justify cheese for yourself or others is just strange to me. If it’s fun for you, do it and who gives a kitten what people think, but don’t try to justify it with a weak argument like that and expect us to gobble it up.

How is my argument weak?
“Cheese” is an arbitrary title that players give to things in the game that they think are too strong or unfair. But the game doesn’t know “cheese” or “exploits” it knows winners and losers.
I play the game on the game’s terms. I try to find the simplest, most efficient way to win. If I lose I try to figure out why I lost and fix it. Is that not sound game theory?
What reason is there to play suboptimal builds?
If the desired end of a competitive gamer is victory then is victory not the ultimate good and loss the ultimate bad?
I feel that I have justified my position. I feel that it is a rational, consistent position. But I cannot force anyone to accept the same premises that I have.
Rationalizing your terms of winning can also be viewed as a defense mechanism to justify your own terms. Every player that steps into WVW has their own terms of “winning”. Some view sitting on a cannon and collecting bags while shooting players passing by as “winning”. Winning is simply a matter of perspective and very much subjective, if running a build that became famous on youtube and a fotm and is always being viewed to be nerfed in the next patch but will win most 1v1 encounters then by all means run it. Some like a challenge and thinking outside the box and trying to innovate new builds to counter the cheese. The question is do you like following everyone else or trying to make your own way in the world?
I think a lot of solo roamers on Mag focus on Dps due to wanting to end the fight before 5 others from another server show up.
Pretty sure that FEAR all died when they tried to crash that GVG. Again a matter of perception. If you belong to SOR= FEAR farmed the crap out of them. Bg= FEAR got rocked, so many bags, lulz etc. Every server wins/loses some engagements due to random factors in WVWVW. GVG takes out some of these factors and why some choose not to do it. I guess whatever helps you get up in the morning.
As for this week I hope every server had some fun fights and regardless of whatever server you face next I hope everyone gets more of the same fun fights.
I hope TC gets more than one chance to prove they’re T1 material as they have numbers to prove it from this week alone.

RIOT, unless it’s 1v5 it’s unfair odd’s for you guys, it’s just not fair for them.
Just curious if anyone knows if using these two together strips two conditions for allies or only one. If so, does anyone know which of these takes priority? Does it convert a condition to a boon first or does it strip a condition first?
Basically trying to build a zerg tank and wondering if soldier runes will help more than using divinity.

Just want to throw out there that VK did not zerg down CERN, there were 4 rounds from the video I watched. I wasn’t present but I believe both had fun and walked away with a better understanding of pvp. Props to them for coming out.
Serious question. How many of you WVW in a wizard robe while drinking from a chalice?

If you really want I can dig through forums and bring back condescending crap about point scores, t2 tactics and all of the other crap from previous threads. All I really want to know is? Who is willing enough to get mad enough, make some bad decisions, and jump out of those towers for some fights?
Our forums are open to anyone who makes an account. I’m curious the % of FA people reading our forums to the % of TC reading our forums.
I’m not sure about the uproar about “hogs?” Who doesn’t like bacon? I mean seriously, I question anyone’s logic who doesn’t like bacon. I believe most of this was posted on our private forums to get the troops pumped up. If you plan to keep reading our forums and getting mad then so be it. It is our area to talk trash and have fun, I think our guys talk more smack to each other than they do TC, such thin skin, would hope you would be more mature and used to a little needling. But it’s ok, keep balling up in 60 man groups, it only makes for more fun right!? Who doesn’t love skill lag! Man I wish we could turn T2 meta into a new T1 meta, stacking servers, maxed map cap zergballs doing battle all smashing 111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111 for victory. I think the point is that while FA was behind 10k points at the beginning of the week last week there was no thoughts on “oh no they’re behind, let’s help them recruit.” I, for the life of me can’t understand why? I don’t understand the pity party for another server being slightly behind. Let the chips fall as they may and let’s get out of those towers and smash each other into pixellated dust.
We broke down the NW outer bay gate before taking garrison. I will make sure to take videos of all doors we break down to prevent any further accusations as we wouldn’t anyone thinking it’s possible to break it down and then come back later with it back up and get inside.

Really proud how t8 has progressed in terms of competitiveness. I was gone this weekend for those gvg’s, thanks agg for throwing up the videos. From what I gather, we lost, sometimes you learn more by losing and learning new tactics. That seems to be the case and thank you for opening our eyes to some different ideas. To all the Fergies who have been in the hard fight for months, keep your chin up, the ppt means nothing as it is merely a matter of coverage. We thought it was only coverage for t1-t3 but it seems that sf has t3/4 coverage wise.
To all the hating on VK, thanks, guess we’re doing something right. I wish you all well in the future fight. AGG+FOE I wish you both well on ET and turning it around to a higher tier server, you’re both class acts and hope to see you in the future and future mmo’s.

I am curious about EB now, we do have Mez you up as well. All it takes is for one supply camp to be flipped and it’s all doom and gloom from there.

After watching that last video the only thing I am certain of is that the ranger is by far one of the most boring classes to play. Mash 1, strafe, strafe, 5, swap to sb, strafe, roll back, how can you play that class on a daily basis?
Everyone knows that TC would never troll, exploit, be farmed, fight in the open field, roleplay on a Tuesday, or show up to a larp convention in regular clothing.
Because I work for PETA and one day after breaking down a keep door I found two naked RP’ers and a dolyak “roleplaying”. I will not stand for this sort of thing and why TC must die every time I see them in the field.
I am having the same problems. I can pick up money from items previously posted but all the other tabs are blank for me. I have tried relogging and nothing seems to work. This is a serious issue as I don’t want to fill my bank slots with items that I need to make money and want to buy gear but can’t due to it being broken. I have had the errors before where it said unauthorized login and was fixed by logging back in. This only occurred after they took down the TP yesterday for maintenance.
Yesterday the trading post was brought down for maintenance for 3 hours. Since that time the trading post has not worked at all for me. I can pull it up but when I click on the different tabs they are blank. Is anyone else experiencing this problem?

You have high crit and are looking to roam and go for small scale fights, why not run omnom ghost food to help you survive longer?
I’m curious as to your gear setup and trait lines. I will venture a guess that you run 30/20/20/0/0? I see that you use ground targeting for wells but curious if you use the trait that makes fear deal damage or go with chilling darkness to freeze enemies when you blind them with plague? I am new to the necro class and that is what i’m running but trying to get a feel for what other necros run in wvw for killing zergs. What gear sets do you use? Runes? Sigils?
Any help/info is much appreciated.
