Another DDOS attack?

It’s not the Lizard Squad who is attacking the servers, it’s a guy in GW who is trying to ruin GvG for everyone. That’s why most of you here don’t get it. People know who it is but ANet does not care about their first game. Perhaps if it affects the GW2 server to the extent of making people unable to buy gems, then it certainly will get fixed asap.

Just because other games lack things or don’t have things doesn’t mean the opinions of what GW2 lacks is not valid. The whole point of games is to enjoy them, and for MMO’s that is also to listen and develop your game to make it better. Many people prefer the things you wrote, as they are used to games with these kinds of interfaces and systems. Guild Wars 2 is so far from perfect.

AP Needs to be private

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: neko.9028

neko.9028

So, first off, to remove some of those people who don’t agree with me and their assumptions:

I’ve more than enough AP to get into generally any group that I want, unless it’s a AP15k+ group, if they even exist.

The reason I believe this is for the better is how the system currently works, if you’re friends or in group you can see their level, character an AP. If you’re in a guild you can see their crafting and AP(and no last logged in which is pretty ridiculous by now). And this is OK in some way.

AP is used to measure if someone is skilled at the game or not. In other games, like Guild Wars that was measured on things that ACTUALLY could say if you were good, such as titles(champ, hero, glad, GWAMM, LB, EoTN titles)

AP is in itself just a “Who can farm the most achievement points”.

It is not a measure of skill and can’t be used as such, and the amount of low IQ people I find around the game in groups that require this is the same as of those that don’t.

I don’t really care that people use it, but I feel AP should be a private thing. It is not a title, it’s not a measure of worth and so it shouldn’t be used that way. If they want people to show how skilled they are ANet needs to make titles appropriate to PvE dungeons etc.

I’m not even the kind of person who encourage the whole: play how you want with your full cleric healing thief! I honestly understand the need for skilled players but I feel it needs a better system to filter them.

A person who’s done all the JP’s and daily’s aren’t going to be skilled in your full berserker Arah run.

PSA: Stop using your keyboard to move!

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: neko.9028

neko.9028

If this was Guild Wars I’d agree with you, because of lagg, rubber banding, body blocking.

This game is made to move with a keyboard, it doesn’t have the options GW had, where you could hold both mouse buttions, let one go(don’t remember which), and move your character freely everywhere, where it would follow your mouse. Or clicking on the ground making your character move to the selected area.

But it doesn’t. So no thanks.

Edit: Who actually uses their keyboard to turn around!? I can’t say I’ve ever seen anyone do it except for occasionally during no fights, most likely not intentionally.

So What's the Plan for Spring 2014

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: neko.9028

neko.9028

The only way they can retain players, bring players back and get new players is with an expansion. Nobody but the people dedicated to the game cares about the LS, new people or players who quit don’t read online for the next “Patch with Scarlet teaming up with the quaggans making them super toxic aetherblade pirate berserkers”.

The only way to counter is with an expansion, an expansion changes gameplay, it changes the world permanently, that’s what many old, dedicated and new players want.

Being honest I’d rather pay a monthly fee for more actual PERMANENT content, QoL improvements, etc, etc. When you put all the rewards in the gemstore, what’s left to work for?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

neko.9028

Supply and Demand to a degree, a variety of factors outside of this keep the price artificially high.

As for gem inflation plan, unlikely that the market will turn south. It is in Anet’s best financial interest to increase the Gem to Gold ratio as that will take more money away from gold sellers. Outside of very large bulk purchases ($100+), the Gem to Gold Ratio is getting very close matching gold sellers. Why spend $10 on site A and risk getting banned when you get almost the same amount from Anet directly?

It is in their best interest yet they can’t even compete with gold sellers. It is almost if not half the price to purchase the same amount of gold through a seller than ANet making many people chose the illegal way as gems to gold will leave you feeling only scammed.

Need a fix to karma. Tedious farming.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

neko.9028

If there’s not enough karma sinks I have many ideas on how to fix that, one very great idea(imo) would to introduce new karma armour sets once a month/every second month.

How about making some weapon or armor sets that are more high-end? Sort of like how the cultural armour was supposed to be. Each piece being around 50g, needing materials and karma to get? I think that would be great, I perhaps wouldn’t get it but it would be an idea for a sink.

Shockwave.1230: You’re right, because there ISN’T anything else I’d like to do. I chose to just not do the things I didn’t enjoy, I stuck to doing dungeons and I do fractals once a while. And lets just say it’s an epic slow process lol. I don’t disagree with value, but that’s for another topic.

I don’t get why I should do things I don’t enjoy, I may as well quit then. I don’t play games to bore myself to death, I play them to have fun after all.

neko.9028

I take it cruising across a zone, taking in the sights and doing every Dynamic Event you come across is tedious?

Doing the same thing over and over again to try an eek out a 4% gain over the intended rate of acquisition IS tedious, but it’s also self-inflicted.

You, and the person below you, seem to both have the narrow mindset of: Your way is the only way to play the game.

I don’t care how you get your karma, I don’t because I’ve already done everything you’ve done. I have already done work exploration, I’ve already taken screenshots and enjoyed the views. I own a GW2 blog for God’s sake, I am pretty sure I take in the view more than anyone else here as it’s part of what I do.

But that’s NOT the point, is it? It’s just your opinion, you wanting to let me know that you think I play the game wrong. It doesn’t matter to you, because you’re not part of the group that plays the game in other ways you just like to point out how wrong they are.

On a serious note, I’d love to get this fixed. I love dungeons, I like doing fractals once a while just not every day, and I’d love to get karma for doing things I enjoy doing as I believe everyone should.

I’m writing this as I don’t know if this has been brought to anyone’s attention.

I need karma, specificity to finish my second legendary, but I find myself having to choose between WvW karma train(Haven’t tried this) or farming low level fractals(10 lvls below your reward level). I’m going to be honest and say these are not things I enjoy doing.

What happened to karma? It used to be easy attainable and now it’s been restricted to specific parts of the game. I miss getting it from dungeons especially, as that’s kinda what I enjoy.

Literary all I miss is a bit above 400 obby shards and the way it is right now it’s very tedious to get them.

Why do people stop playing GW2?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: neko.9028

neko.9028

The game feels one dimensional, at least in PvE. All content feels the same, no matter what class you play.

How to play any class in GW2 PvE:

Get berserker armor. You will be more or less useless if you do not specc for direct damage. Most damage is done by auto-attack, take the weapon with the highest auto-attack damage for melee. Dodge in between. Done.

It is hard to not have one shallow combat when every class is the same. In a game where there’s no tanks, no control, no healers there’s only one thing left; and that is DPS.

In this game the AR of enemies is fair, but their healthpool is very high, making it only good with direct damage. And that’s why the meta is warriors; they have the highest DPS in the game.

The combat is shallow and that’s why everything feels the same. Everyone has only one thing to do; watch yourself. There’s no team play in this game, just group play.

stop crying for a short cut.

There called legendary because of the legendary time and effort it takes to get it. yes you can buy them from tp for a legendary price (see what i did there), but that doesn’t take away the fast you worked to get it.
if you don’t want to the tasks needed for a legendary, then don’t go for one, the other 9/10 people who did them aren’t complaining. its the journey, not the destination.

Actually, it absolutely does. Especially because some people have that kind of gold avoidable and can buy even multiple.

Currently there’s NOTHING legendary about an item that requires one specific thing: Grinding.

Collaborative Development Topic- Living World

in CDI

Posted by: neko.9028

neko.9028

My thoughts on living content:

  1. It needs to be permanent.
The reason I feel this is because every time there’s content it gets removed, and it leaves a feeling of emptiness. It’s understandable that one cannot keep the chain events, etc. But there should be a way to at least replay the story. The story can for example be quest based. That would allow people to replay them on each their character. Dungeons that you make should be left in the world too, you can always expand on these dungeons, and there’s so much you can do to keep people playing. The fused weapons for example, could have been a great reward for tokens in the F&F dungeon, it could be introduced another 2 paths. The dungeon was truly epic, and it is a shame it is not here today.
  1. In my personal opinion I feel since the F&F the personal story has been lacing.
It feels generic. It does not feel epic or interesting. You have a bunch of lore than you can use from the epic world of Guild Wars, and so much to play on. An example is the wizards tower and what happened to Vereta, what’s going on there now?
  1. I feel that the content is very underwhelming.
I feel so because nothing really makes you very interested, and if it does it’s so short. So far everything feels so short, and because it’s all temporary it’s not like an “expansion worth of content” because it cannot be replayed and each week you do about 30 minutes max and the story is over.

Just some of my thoughts.

People have to stop paying them money for lottery boxes because they obviously aren’t going to LEARN otherwise. Just stop doing it all together, stop buying keys, stop buying their [insert event name] boxes.

They generate HUGE amount of money by people who buy these boxes, and what does profit tell companies? Well that they should dish more of it out!

Instead of putting these weapon skins into actually playing the game(and if you seriously are gonna tell me trading gold for gems is playing the game, uninstall, please), and be rewarded because of it. For example: you do x, y and z of content and you receive a ticket. You can repeat once per character. That’s what I was hoping for. But once again they had to put it into boxes because they know certain players will pay…

Just stop doing it. Stop letting them do this stuff and ruin this game even more.

A gemstore suggestion

in Suggestions

neko.9028

So, as a player who has bought gemstones in my GW2 life I have always wondered why there’s no discount on buying multiple gems. i.e buying 1600 instead of the 800.

The reason I say this is because everyone that sells cash in games(which is technically what gemstones are), sell them with a bonus or a discount when you buy for more.

My suggestion is a discount for the higher you go. It should feel beneficial to buy bigger amounts, should it not?

Just a thought.

I beg you, don't increase the level cap

in Suggestions

Posted by: neko.9028

neko.9028

I agree. There should not be any more level caps. I loved the feeling from Guild Wars that when there was new content I could just go with my lvl 20 char and do the story, for the story.

I hate leveling, I really do. I have 3 lvl 80’s, and it was really tiring for me to get them up. You could tell me to not play if I don’t enjoy something, but truth is I wanted to enjoy it, really bad. But I can’t, and is the reason I quit every MMO but Guild Wars.

Increasing lvl caps will just leave me with the feeling of my character being incomplete again. I don’t agree with their idea of ascended gear either, so I haven’t even gotten any of it and I most likely wont. So if a new level cap is increased I will probably try it out, and sadly maybe I’ll quit again(which I have done now, it’s just not fun anymore. Everything is fractals this, fractal that. And I don’t agree with them adding the ascended gear.) as I don’t really think I like the way everything is going, but that’ll be that.

I cannot agree with you more. I am also slowly watching this game die, and I’ve been ‘suffering’(if you can say that) the consequences of this new content. It is so hard to form for dungeons, I’ve sat for hours trying to find players just for TA, CoE, CoF, etc. I don’t want to do FoTM, I don’t want to get this ascended gear because it’s the complete opposite to what they originally wanted to make. Guild Wars 1 was not such a great game for no reason. Yet they decided to remove the best aspects of the game, and they have now decided to ruin it more by this extremely bad thought through update.

I think for me now, it’s going towards the end. And I’m thinking I will maybe come back when or IF this all gets fixed. They decided to introduce the gear treadmill, and that was something I started playing the game for because they said they WEREN’T going to be one of those games.

I don’t know what’s going to happen in the future but if it keeps going this way, well, then I’m out. It was fun while it lasted.

The Female Human epidemic

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: neko.9028

neko.9028

I play female characters because I am female. And also because I put my personality into the characters. So I would be unable to play a man. As I have no idea how it is to be one.

But if I for some reason wanted to play a male, I would make him look sexy(to me). As I’m assuming most guys would do when making a character of the gender they are attracted to.

I kind of have to agree with the comment made by Garenthal.1480 saying men tend to make more trashy looking female characters.Thought I’ve noticed this with two kinds, women who want guys attention in games and most guys. I think it’s because the white blonde woman with overly tanned skin seems to still be the ‘most common’ version of what’s ‘hot’.

But each to their own.

1. Make Runes that drop specifically in certain dungeons(Example: Monk rune from Ascalonian Catacombs) account wide, not SOULBOUND as they currently are.
Why: Because why have runes drop that are not account bound when you may want to use these runes on another character? It would be great if this can be changed. I don’t need runes for a guardian on my mesmer, yet they are soulbound and all I can do is delete them.

2. Make karma account wide.
Why: It serves no purpose to not have this accountwide, this feels like a way to keep people playing. There’s been one great change to this(kind of), that monthly and daily give you 4,5k/45k to spend on whatever character, this is great. But it forces people to play on different characters.

3. Dyes need to be accountwide
Why: This has to do with money. Which is also why I think this will never be changed despite what the community wants. But please change this. I’m one of the people who buy gems. I find these dye packs great, but the dyes need to be account wide.

Fix to Supressing Message

in Suggestions

Posted by: neko.9028

neko.9028

I agree with this. This makes it really hard sometimes to get people for a group. In Guild Wars there was a reasonable amount of time, but in GW2 it seems as if thought the time even resets if you make a seconds mistake. It’s really bothersome. I have to tell my party I’m suppressed, and they have to ask for people instead.

The grouping up system in this game is almost non existent, there’s two options, put yourself on LFG in your friends/status setting or say LFG. However, nobody uses the LFG in the status, because you don’t pop up anywhere(You only get the icon on your name). It would be better if it was the same system like in Guild Wars, that you get listed in a party search window, which says your level, profession, and what you want to team up for.
