Just to clarify: Anet not helping to retrieve the item in question isn’t “punishment”. The player made a mistake, end of story. I agree with Anet staying neutral in cases like this, because it was an agreement between two players. They should not take sides in this dispute, and I feel they should not ban anyone either.
And there already is a player to player trading system. It’s called the Black Lion Trading Company.
So explain why there is a “Scamming” report function in game.
Agreement between two people , one person scams. If arenanet can’t retrieve the item , i can understand that.But for the person to get away with it , makes me feel you support scammers yourself.
Try selling an item for 2500 gold and see how much is the fee , pretty discouraging.
And keep in mind this person who im selling to has over 6.k+ achievement points and is a commander in Desolation.
Don’t get me wrong here. I don’t support any scammer. HOWEVER, what’s to say that the OP isn’t lying? What if there was some agreement between two players, and one decided to back out of the completed deal? Then what you have here is a transaction that may have been completed without problems, but one player is trying to undo everything.
This is the reason why I don’t think Anet should get involved. It’s a matter of he said/she said. If an account was hacked, that’s more clear cut, as Anet has the ability to look at server side login reports, whereas they don’t have access to “Gentlemen Agreements”.
I am the OP , ArenaNet , can trace chat logs. Also i took SS’s of all the steps that went down.
I’m over it now to be honest and im focusing my next 1-2 legendaries.

How can you not help refund the OP his Sunrise? It is the system that is at fault, not the player. I know many players are selling through mail just to avoid TP fee because it’s definitely not a “small” fee when selling for 1000g+. I’m sure there are many other players being scammed. What can you expect from the players? Just tell them to use TP when it was the TP fee system that caused this mess in the first place?
edit: Actually, I thought I’d be more elaborate on this. If an insurance company insures your car for $20,000, and your car is actually only worth $10,000, it would make sense to purposely destroy that car. AKA Moral hazard. Who is at fault? The person who destroyed the car? Or the bad deal set by the insurance company? Just like moral hazard where when a system is bad, it causes these problems, in gw2, it’s the TP fee insane tax that causes this kind of problem. It’s not the players fault. And you can ban players. The problems won’t stop until you stop the source of the problem: the bad design of TP fee.

I sure understand how disappointed you must be. It is precisely for this reason that the Trading Post was developed. The fees are small — consider it “transaction insurance” if you will — and for items of this magnitude, isn’t it worth being sure you’ll have a successful and pleasant transaction.
I am sorry you were scammed, and I strongly encourage you to contact Support by filing a ticket through the “Ask a Question” tab on that linked page. Please report this player, so he/she can be stopped from harming other players. We cannot and will not get involved in these incidents in the sense of retrieving the items, but we will take action to protect the community and mete out the sort of outcome that a cheater so richly deserves.
Again, I’m sorry that someone did that, and please use the TP in the future.
Thank you Gaile for your response. I know it’s partially my fault for not using the TP , But the fee for selling a 2600 item is rather high (300gold),but to be honest if i had the choice right now i would have payed 600 gold for fee rather than just getting scammed clean from a legendary.
It’s a little harsh that i cannot have my item restored , but i would be very happy if this particular person get’s ip banned and not be able to play and do this exact thing to many other players ( which i am sure he had).
I sincerely do not want anyone to go through what i went through with all the frustration and hope everyone can learn from my mistake.
I will ask support , i am just taking suggestions and gathering all information before i do so. So i don’t waste my time or their time

I will try to make this short since i am really frustrated , disgusted and devasted by what happened.
A person who i shall not name in this thread ( over 6K+ Achievement points) has offered 2000 gold for my twilight but via in-game Mail , to avoid TP Fees. I thought about it for a bit then accepted since i thought he was pretty well mannered and mature-ish.
I sent the sunrise over , and he replied saying just give me a moment i will send the gold from another account. At this point i got a little nervous.
He has never came online since on both accounts which leads to make me think he blocked me or w/e and simply got scammed.
Me and my close mate have worked over 2 month to achieve the sunrise together. I was planning on selling it for gold and getting my mate the legendary he always wanted which was Twilight.
This may sound very pathetic , but i will keep it honest and won’t try to create a fake ego of what im not feeling right now. Right now i have no urge of even logging and playing just cause of the fact all of our efforts has gone astray.
Any help with this situation will be appreciated.

Support needs this info :
• What are all possible e-mails that you would have used on the game account?
• What is the name of your favorite character on the game account?
• What are the last four digits of the credit or debit card used to create the account or make purchases online? What is the zip or postal code associated with that card?
• What is the 25-digit access key used to create the game account?
Luckily i have all of the info except well obviously the 25 digit code which i don’t know by heart.

If you got the Digital Upgrade in the game, I believe your account was automatically upgraded, hence no code was sent to you because the upgrade just happened.

If you bought deluxe package from gem shop I see no reason to ask for serial key.
You just buy the deluxe items and that’s all
You don’t have any more benifits but the items and one special skill.
I mean that you dont need any serial key.
Forgot to mention i actually do need the serial key , since my digital one was destroyed in the game box in a incident i had this week.

hmm i might have thought of a solution (maybe) my SERIAL KEY was Digital , if i bought a Deluxe edition key from store , can i overlap it? It makes sense. But i already purchased the deluxe edition item for 2000 gems in game. But that doesent give you a code as far as i know.

4. In the “Character Name” field eneter the name of an existing character on your account.

Ticket titled “Game box with CD key burned in a car fire incident”…
The whole subject is me not have access to a CD-key and cannot unlink my authenticatior anymore. I can live without retreiving my CD-KEY that’s fine , i can keep it secured so i don’t have to use the recovery button ever. But to be locked out from the account cause of a mobile authenticatior in a countdown of less than a month. That’s harsh.

If u got your login details than it would be possible to just disable the auth-app, helped me on SWTOR. Updated my smartphone’s firmware and the app couldn’t verify anymore.
The only difference was that SWTOR got a hotline – neede baout 10 minutes to diable the app for my account, so i could login normally and reactivate the app afterwards.
Well. Explain how cause everytime i try to unlink:
Enter the current code from your mobile authenticator app. ######
Enter a different code from your mobile authenticator app. ######
And that is impossible cause of linking the authenicator you need a QR code to scan with a code , and that code isn’t visible.

To be really honest , most of these can be replaced in a matter of a month.
There’s more than one car in my household , so i’m using another vehicle temporally at the moment.
The amount of effort that i put in the account , just the sentimental value is way more than all of these to me.

Good luck. I really feel for you. I’d recommend unlinking your phone while you can. If you have the google authenticator you can make 10 one-time use auth codes.

I have sent 2 tickets regarding both issues , i am insanely nervous. Hope all turns well , i worked WAY too hard on my character and that legendary , i believe you know how long that takes and how much effort and commitment it takes.

I currently attend uneveristy , and i’m constantly playing guild wars 2 mostly on my free time in uni or at home.
I decided to install my guild wars 2 on laptop and got it in my car , long story short some idiot decided to leave his ciggarete right on the back couch , came back 4 hours after class found my car whole seat burned out and nearly the front seats too.
My guild wars 2 game box was totally burned as well as the CD totally un usable anymore.
Aswell as my Android phone + wallet +project work.
Now this is where it even gets worse.
I’m moving to another country perm in nearly a month , i still can login my gw2 account without an authenitcator.
Now , this is where i’m pulling my hair out.
I cannot disable the authenticatior cause well , my phone is a piece of burned metal now.
The game box containing the serial code is dust.
And im moving in a month which means it’s like a death countdown till the end (hopefully not) of my gw2 account.
P.S : I have a twilight.
Is there ANY information i can give , extensively to support to recover this incident and get back my serial code.
I contacted the retailer over here , and he cannot help me AT ALL. I currently study in Kuwait , and to say the least the PC shops are not as professorial as the ones in the US or CA etc+
Arenanet , please help.

Maybe if 70% of you would stop writing wall of texts on the forum and put that effort towards the game , you would actually get somewhere.
Also people are already crying before even testing out the ascended gear or even the patch as whole.
I don’t even think this is some sort of criticism , people are just arguing and ranting just for the sake of ranting now.
I used to enjoy forums on mostly all the older games i played , now nearly all game forums are full of pool of QQ about people wanting the game to be exactly a replica of an imaginary real life to replace theirs.

a solid 8.5/9/10.
One of the best if not the best Halloween event ingame i had in a LONG LONG time.
Would have been a 10 , but was a little bit dissapointed by the last event.
Giving all my money except 1000$ to Arena net , 1000$ will be used of course on Black lion trading post.

After the recent Halloween patch , seems like my whole client re downloaded. My pc crashed mid way through the 7k files patch , now it has around 200k files to download… Is there anyway i can avoid this and just download the latest patch.
I don’t even know what’s downloading to be honest since the gw2.bat is already at 15+ gigs….

Says about 7k files to download for me. I wonder if your whole client is re-downloading. Do you have startup command line arguments in your gw2 shortcut? http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Command_line_arguments
Yeah actually it was 7 k , i restarted my PC and it became 200k. I tried copying Gw2.dat to another location and transfer it back , but that was no use.
Do i really have to download all the game again now …;/

Whenever i try to link my gw1 account it keeps sending me to this error and nothing changes.

I have been banned for about 5 days apparently for 3rd party programs , i have sent in a ticket and everything and my other 2 got looked at (which has nothing to do with the banning , one was about the change of display name and other about deluxe edition).
The only programs i used was WTF Fast , which i have been using for quite a while and helps improve my latency. And the other is avast antivirus.
It’s getting a bit frustrating since i was banned over a ping reduction software…
I know arena net are trying their best to work around people that afk bot or hackers supposedly but i feel like alot of innocent players are the ones that are getting the hammer instead of the actually people who do such activities.
tl;dr I love this game , and the fact i can’t play is really starting to get to me.

There is no key logger , i got 2 antiviruses running , spyware clean up every day. They get these info from other guild wars 2 related sites.
Stop just assuming it’s a key logger every time someone say’s he got hacked , some of these Chinese ip addresses holder hack credit cards…you think they are not able to hack a fan site for guild wars 2 >.>
