I know people have said for a long time this is a dead game mode, almost memeing it at times. But right now, it seriously is on a lifeline.

Servers have been linked and even in T1 where im at right now, things are pretty empty most nights. There are incredibly empty for T1, a tier that from my experience has always had nonstop activity.

It makes me incredibly sad to see this in WvW. Its always been my main gamemode in this game but Anet is going to have to make a decision very soon to do something very very drastic, I mean big changes to the game mode to fix it, or just call it quits and say we can’t carry on it with it anymore.

I can’t help but say this is completely their fault. They’ve done so little for this gamemode of such massive potential in 4 years.

Really hope they can unstick these gents soon, I started the Bolt 1 collection last night and I’ve ground to a halt.
I would much prefer getting the item through the event for the RP benefits but if this goes on to long I’ll ask support if they can send the item to me direct.

At Seanan’s Bandits (north west, right of Gallowfields Waypoint) whenever we talk to the NPC to teleport inside bandits camp, we get teleported somewhere else, under the map zone.

Yes, sadly it’s not so good so far. I’ve had to completely turn off the Team Chat in my message box simply due to people chattering about nothing important now that they can yack between bl’s. I did see one or two messages by people saying they need help somewhere, and saw responses that said something like, “sorry can’t come”… then just a lot more chatter.

Unfortunately it’s not working well… and ESPECIALLY because people do NOT say where they are posting from… and don’t say just ask them … because if you think that’s efficient then you’re not a WvW person ‘on the move’.

+1, Anet please have a look at this. Now that team chat is WvW-wide and map chat is (or at least should be) used for most scouting reports, the restriction is a bit too harsh. Especially when it seems trigger off things like linking a particular poi/waypoint into the chat.

Please focus on fixing bugs while you’re tinkering with WvW gameplay and such. Notable bugs that should’ve been fixed a long time ago are:

1. Wall bugs

-There are multiple bugs here, one is the walls are layered and flickering.
-Walls/doors that you can’t damage.
-Walls that you’ve knocked down to 0 health, but graphics still show up like the wall’s still there, yet you can walk through the pixels.
-Walls that get stuck at 1% health and you can’t knock it down.

2. Oasis event

-Extreme lag when you have more than a couple of groups doing it, especially so when other server’s contesting it. Lag can be felt everywhere in the zone, even at spawn.
-Warping lag, skill lag, random death lag.

This is again something that shouldn’t exist 2+ months into expansion launch. Either fix it, or disable it. And it’s a shame that the whole middle area is pointless when oasis event isn’t up. It almost look like a fun place to fight in. But most people probably avoid it like plague due to being traumatized by the oasis lag…and the fact that it’s absolutely pointless to fight over it. Please consider turning off the oasis event, and put something else in its place so players always have a reason to fight over the mid section of the map.

3. Invisible dragonhunter traps.

-I file this under bugs because something that traps me in place should not be invisible. It causes deaths and if I can’t see what’s blocking me from moving, I can’t counter it. I have to guess whether it goes away or not, if guessed wrong, I get knocked down and my skills go on cooldown, which often leads to deaths. If I stand still too long while waiting for the invis traps to go away, I may get cooked and bombed, and again leads to deaths.

Stuff like this shouldn’t exist in competitive environment. This affects both WvW & PvP. Fix it already please.

4. Stuck in place bug

-This happens everywhere in the game, and it’s worse in WvW & PvP because it causes deaths. Again this shouldn’t exist in competitive environment, and nobody would take your esports seriously if they get stuck in place for no reason. You have to emote or jump or dodge roll to get unstuck. It just happens randomly with no condi’s on you, and you have to spam different things to get unstuck. It’s just an ugly bug.

5. Bugged waypoints

-Waypoints that do not get contested even though you’re literally fighting on them. It leads to spawn rushing and create impossible to take keeps.
-On the flip side, keeps with no player attacking them, but go contested for no reason and remain so for a very long time. Waypoints are just so bugged since HoT launch…and it’s a very important part of this game mode.

6. Lords that get stuck out of place

-We took the fire keep, and the lord was stuck standing IN LAVA. So it just kept dying over and over, people revived the lord, it would still stand in lava and die again.
-Both keep & tower lords stand in weird spots, sometimes by the doors, sometimes off on the wall somewhere. Why isn’t this fixed by now?

7. Capture announcements

-This is more of a QoL improvement, but I’ll file it under bugs because it blocks my field of view and nobody asked for it. Seriously it’s intrusive, and it blocks a good portion of the screen while you’re fighting. Give us a way to disable the on-screen announcements. I’m fine with these announcements go in the chat box. I don’t need these announcements popping up regularly in middle of my screen.

8. Commander tags not showing on map

-This bug happens randomly, sometimes you see the commander tags, sometimes you don’t. Nobody knows why, it just disappears randomly, and pops back up randomly. It’s a very annoying bug when commanders are trying to coordinate on the battlefield.

9. Unable to change commander pin color while in squad

-It’s like rocket science to try to change your commander pin color if you’re already leading a squad. Sometimes commanders have to disband the squad to change the color. Sometimes they’re simply unable to change the pin color. Why is this even a problem in this game?

These bugs have been there since HoT launch, it’s now almost 3 months in, these bugs shouldn’t have lasted this long in the game. This is why players have no confidence in Anet, these bugs shouldn’t exist 2+ months into expansion launch. No other game modes have these many bugs that interfere with the gameplay. And people wonder why WvW is dying and players are avoiding it.

This is a good list of the current bugs in WvW.

New content and changes to existing content are important and make WvW a bit better place however bugs that limit gameplay makes the experience in WvW a lot worse.

Please fix the bugs more actively. I would prioritize fixing bugs over finding changes that could make WvW a better place.

I don’t like to run around a tower clicking on every wall to find out which one does not show a health bar and is destroyed.

I don’t like to see a commander placing catapults about to destroy a wall that cannot be destroyed.

I also don’t like to find out that a contested keep was not contested by a player.

honestly these changes sound like a great start. Turning off the timer on upgrading is a good idea, but will will not really improve the core issue which is that servers with a coverage advantage will still be able to upgrade things quite easily with no effort other than the initial blob karma train i.e. server A&B goes to bed at midnight, server C Karma Trains for 1 hour longer…. the keeps and towers they cap will upgrade quickly with the usain bolt dolly’s feeding them and no one from server C even has to be there.

My suggestion for this would be that either a.) someone from server C still has to be present to activate the next upgrade tree (isn’t this common sense?) and/or b.) at the very least reduce the effectiveness of the dollys from the 3 south camps (either slow them down or reduce frequency).

Also the way points are silly….. Waypoints only at T3 (like SM) and whoever owns the T3 Keep should be able to use them (so home team can have WP in side keep if they get it to T3). This would bring a lot more interest back to WvW as people would have an actual incentive to defend their territory.

This is a public plea to the devs to please get rid of auto upgrades on everything.

Keep it so its no cost, but please, make it go back to a person required to actually trigger the upgrades. It seems to be killing the game play more deeply than any other changes that have been put into WvW with HoT.

Begging you, can you please just remove this one thing and see if it helps the situation……………..at least a little?

Play less in wvw now with the new xpac, close to only at prime time. At off peak time I farm in eotm, I need 20 more level to unlock all ability.
Will probably stop playing in few weeks if they don’t change the auto upgrade and remove the central event. Maybe just join some times at prime time for 1H or 2, but not more. Was used to play for hours at off peak times..

Im just wondering how many are like me:
-Played 100% wvw & LOVED IT! before the expansion and new maps.
-Can’t handle the new maps becuase they are to big & messy & pve.
-Just play some EB sometimes but… the fun is gone because the maps are empty & everything about WvW just feels….lost becuase of the changes.
-Have actually tested PvE since the expansion but.. well it aren’t so fun as the old-days-WvW.

it’s not about hate spreading… The central event has nothing to do with the map, but it’s a bad mechanism…
Same for the auto upgrade and the homemap full ennemy T3 at the morning if you don’t have night crew.
Same as auto upgrade without supply and no WP on the keep who made those keep useless…

This has nothing to do with the map, it’s broken game mechanism…

And it’s not hate, it’s not different play style we have to learn. It’s fact that this is not good for the off peak time. It’s not always prime time with full map…

The new borderlands are WAAAAAAY too big and confusing

Evem the keeps are big and confusing (we just lost “Garri” cuz we couldnt find the attackers untill they were at lord room)

Also, the auto upgrades are too fast its like 2-3 hours for keeps and 4-5 hours for SM

Ty for killing bronze league, now i cant play

Expect a large wvw player base drop off.

HoT and previous updates took much of the fun out of WvW for me as well. I’d actually be willing to pay to play the old game (old maps, no stab nerf, no auto upgrade). But that option will never be. I played GW2 (WvW only) exclusively for years but I’ll be looking for other games to play now.

Hi,

Just and honest opinion about the new game. For those who had fully developed characters etc and were not buying new content, to have their world turned upside down with no options I believe will make many people leave the game.

I suggest having 2 separate games completely. The new one and the old one. If you want to see what happens just have 3 old style servers and allow free transfers. When those 3 fill up…open three more…when those fill up….etkittenil you find that few actually like the new content.

It might be different for non-wvw content, but all I do is wvw and it is now ruined.

So I just checked all 3 Borderland maps… my server, Yak’s Bend, has the outmanned buff on each one yet we currently hold the highest PPT across all BLs. What does that tell you? In fact, there’s only one commander tag to be found and he’s on EBG. Consider that this is a T1 server on a Sunday afternoon.

RIP WvW.

It’s mind boggling how Anet could’ve done this. The alpine maps were just about perfect, with plenty of nuance and dynamic PPT gameplay, as well as easily accessible open space to encourage large (or small) scale fighting. In fact, about all I would have changed would be to bring back the lake.

Now we have something ugly and chaotic, seemingly designed by an intern. I mean, how can something feel so big yet cramped at the same time?

Any new BL map should have been based closely on the classic BL with all its subtleties and dynamics. But alas, that would’ve taken someone at Anet actually spending enough time in WvW to understand it fully…

- Typical hour for me would be solo roaming or up to around 5 people. What I did depended on the opposition I ran into. Sometimes I would take a camp or tower and spend hours fighting roamers to defend it. Often I would work on draining a keep by cutting off supply camps and setting up sneaky catas. Even if I couldn’t take the keep because they were turtling I could keep it paper.

-Not a fan of EB but the play style was generally the same.

-On the new BL it took me about an hour just to take the 1 tower closest to spawn because they locked +5 behind PvE crafting, they increased G cata supply cost to 50, and the walls automatically fortified. I tried to hit the fire keep but it was already full supply since upgrades don’t cost anything, and it was impossible to keep supply cut off while hitting it solo since the run between camps took so long. When I tried hitting it from the south I lost my first cata to random PvE fire balls that didn’t start shooting until it was fully built. In multiple places my pet would randomly burn to death even though we were on what appeared to be solid ground and I was taking no damage.

-In the Alpine bl the combat was a lot more frequent since players you killed could wp and run back a lot faster. There was also less cheesy mechanics like the sandstorm the stealths entire groups of people. When I was hitting the fire keep I had a second player join me and when a group hit us we wiped them out in a 2v6, after that they wouldn’t fight us anymore, likely because it takes so long to run back. Instead they just prevented us from building anything by building siege or jumping down to kill whatever we tried to build when we made the 3+ minute resupply run. The only fights I could find were near objectives and the objectives offer a gimicky advantage (like stealth or burning) to 1 side.

-It takes so long to take an objective that it’s not worth doing it in a group of less than 8.

-The loot is non existent for roamers.

-Solo roaming is dead for me. I won’t be spending nearly the same amount of time in WvW.

- The Alpine map should be returned to the bl’s. The new map should be put on a weekly rotation with EB. It’s designed for zergs and it’s too big to have 3 copies of it per match. A zerg can bust through the baracades cutting off the center off the map in seconds which would make the map a lot easier to traverse.

-The new bl is like a big PvE dungeon that requires you to spend in game currency to buy siege so you can break through objectives to fight the bosses. You will need a large party to run this dungeon and occasionally you might run into other parties who will hide on walls and throw things at you.

Sunday evening and only a few people play WvWvW. On gold server. Even EB are virtually empty. ArenaNet, if you want to prevent the exodus of WvW players please switch back to the original borderlands ASAP.

The expansion kind of killing wvw for me.. and wvw was really why I still play this game..
The new BL are too big, with too many stupid mini games like capping altars for buffs..
The keeps are way too big as well, I do not know what the point of having keeps that massive in size…
The auto upgrade is HORRIBLE. There is literally no more reasons to defend keeps since you get all the upgrades for free now… At least make SOME of the upgrades manual…
Also no way points on stuff like Bay and Hills and at the same perma way points at EBG keep and Garri.. again.. makes defending those keeps straight up pointless…

Honestly.. terrible work all around. I regret ever spending 127$ (Canadian) for this… At this point I am considering moving to a different game…

Look at how effective someone is in a full Soldiers set.
Look at how effective someone is in a full Dire set.
Nice balance.

Okay I’m going to have to call bullkitten on the “people are jut more interested in the expansion content” theory. The only thing I do in the game is WvW and PvP, I have no interest in the new PvE content, and I’m not on the new bl because it sucks kitten .

Yesterday I logged onto my accounts to get the daily reward and logged back off. I couldn’t even find the motivation to log on for reset because the idea of running around that crappy PvE map was revolting. The majority of my friends and guildies are doing the same. We might get a few PvP matches done and just call it a night because they have successfully sucked the fun out of our favorite game mode.
