It’s more about the logic behind the assumption that made hoarders consider not hoarding anymore.

As you said, many of their drop sources are getting a nerf. Maybe it will even out with the new map reward system, we will see. but even if it did, that wouldn’t make the price sink.

Considering shinies, you’re right there. But old legendaries are still here. Since you can get their precursor, the demand will still be high for charged lodestones, maybe more than now since what kept people from crafting legendaries was, i guess, more the precursor than the mats.

first of all, sorry about my english, it ain’t my main language so i guess i’m bond to make mistakes.

So there are loads of topics about the economy changes that will come with HoT, but there’s something i don’t really understand.

It has been said that, basically, prices of T5 (like thick leather) will rise since Anet wants to make them reach silk’s price (at least, more financially interesting that today). That, i do believe is a good idea since it will make these mats a little bit less worthless, eventhough some people will argue that they’ll need more money to craft weapons/armors/ascended etc… And, well, they are certainly right about that. But that ain’t my point.

Now, what about lodestones? Looking at this market, and especially on the charged one, changes have started and i don’t get the reason.

It seems that we are now assuming that charged lodestones will see their scarcity reduced. Why would that be? Why wouldn’t it be the opposite, as in, charged lodestones stay the way they are, but the other lodestones become more desirable ?

I know that John Smith talked specifically about the charged core/lode when he answered some questions and that could be the main reason of the sudden change in what was a stable market. But why would you have t5 prices rise when you could make lodestones sink? Wouldn’t it be more logical to make lodestones’ prices reach at least 1g/each? As it stands, glacial and crystal lodestones are utterly useless or near to be.

Another point that make the current assumption strange is that, if you look at the whole market, there is twice the amount of any lodestones (except for crystal & destroyer) in charged lodestones to sell on the market. And the demand is about the same than all the others.
Plus, since i don’t see people asking for lodestones, except charged, to drop more often, i guess the drop rate is fine.

So is it really the charged lodestones/cores’prices that are a problem or is it that all the others are that much less desirable?

I do believe it’s the latter, what do you guys think?

TLDR : Why would charged lodestones’s price sink and why wouldn’t the price of the other lodestones rise? Scarcity is nice when it exists, but here, iI feel it’s more of a “desirable or not” case.

Well i made a nice profit on these (bought for 110g and sold for 350g AT).

I’m glad to see some will come back, prices will go down and rise the next day. Only a small number of these will appear since the sell will last only 1 day, and remember that the rare ones didn’t drop so often.

I did it against the sniper guy, since you just need to stay close fight.

I added the burn gambit to do the 3 gambit achievement.
I feel like it’s the best boss to do this achivement since subject 7 has too many adds and the norn + dog hits like a truck if you fail to dodge even once.

The question is easy : to craft infinite light, you need only some materials, which everybody can buy by himself on the tp. So, Do you really think people will spend more than the materials’ cost to craft it?

Personnally, i wouldn’t since if i can buy yours, i could well craft mine.

I managed to do to the etherblade dive, but i stayed at 36/38.

1) how come, jabberwock, that you didn’t buy the first one you saw listed and bought the 400g one?

3) why does the 400g sold one doesn’t appear on gw trade?

It now drops from Maw and Jormag’s chests, and ever since people have been farming the hell out of them due to the rares, quite a bit of it has been dropping.

ok, but it doesn’t make sense that someone would undercut an offer at 470gold with another one at 220 and that the same day, 20 others of this very same item appear on the tp with a price always lower.
Don’t tell me 20 guys farmed something, crafted it and sold it 2 times less than its cost. That’s too much insanity.

could someone explain me how this loongbow can be at 119 gold? actually, it cost more than 200 gold to craft and there are more than 10 lower than that. I just bought one at 105.

How come? The requested materials’ prices haven’t decreased.

since i’m very far from having loads of money in this game, i was looking for some advice.
I’m looked the lodestone/core market and i wanted to lnow why there’s such a difference in behavior between the glacial one and the others.
I mean, usually, the price to make a lodestone using core and used to set the core price or the opposite, at least, they follow each other.
Why isn’t it like that with the glacial ones ?
Crafting a glacial lodestone cost about 45 silvers while you can sell the lode between 62 and 67 s ? it means about 8 to 11 s of profit per lodestones.
I’ve also seen many attempt to rise the glacial cores prices thanks to some manipulation but it did never worked, why?

isn’t this just the bug that happens sometimes when you fall in the frctals? it’s supposedly the place where all fractals are (maybe also non implemented ones). Just like ocarina of time was on n64, all the fractals are builded on the same level. Which means that potentially you could go from one to another going “under” the current level.

If you guys really want to speculate over something, glacial cores and lonestone are the most likely to be used in the futur craftable wintersday weapons.
Corrupted and destroyer lodestones are used to make the gift for arachnophobia etc…
So you can pretty safely bet that some lodestones will be used. Which one, if not glacial lonestone, is the most likely to be used?

Mint leaf is just like chocoloate and egg, pure speculation over something that have a pretty low chance to be really used. Plus, OP is obviously making a pump and dmp think since he has also posted this on guru saying that he and his guildmats were certain and that it was obvious that mint leaf would be used.

let’s take an easy example on how you guys see it :

1 item = 1$
then, 25% if you buy 4 so 4items = 3$
then, 50% if you buy 8 so 8 items = 4$

that seems logic uh?

Now, here’s the way you would sell this same stuff :

1item=1$
25% so 4 items = 3$
50% according to the price of the 4 pack so 8 = 6*50/100 = 3$.

Man, open a shop that work that way and i’ll come right now.

Anyone who ever went in a shop know that when you see : 1 = 1$ 4= 3$ and 8=4$ mean you’ve had 25% first (buy 4) and 50% (buy 8 ) reduction. In real life, in a real shop where you see real people, that’s the way it worked.
That’s the way it works. Now, that’s your way : you make 50% decrease on 8 and since 4 cost 3 than 8 cost 6 but with a 50% it’s 3 in fact. kitten that sounds quite…ridiculous no?

Now, let’s see jabberwock’s math, which are correct btw.

1 stone cost 40 gems, that’s its base price.
Now, you can buy 25 for 480 gems right? which means a 52% price decreases for each gem, that’s definitely right.
Now then tell me why you’re arguing on the fact that they said 40% (obviously making a mistake) but doing in fact 52% ?

I guess we should ask them to be honnest, they said 40%, then they should do 40% and so, since that’s the way it always work, do this 40% on the base price.

So please Anet, i want to pay 25 gems 600 gems. That way, it will really be a 40%

with last week event, as every one knows, precursors’ price have dropped a lot. According to the number of these on the market, i was wondering if, according to you, prices will go up in, let say 1 month, or if it’s just not worth the wait.
Mystic toilets gave me the shield precursor today and i think i’ll sell it but before doing so, i’ld like to hear your opinions.

Well 2 points seems to be a problem :

1) that new stuff that you have to have to do that new dungeon
2) Anet dared to make something we weren’t expecting.

Only rings and back item are coming now. So basically, i still have a masterpiece rarity back item, so i’m glad i’ll be able to have a better one. Concerning rings….come on, it’s really so terrible to have to change 2 rings now?

Then, you need this stuff to do the dungeon? Ok let’s look at it.
That dungeon is 3x 3 “smaller dungeon”. Ok, so basically, the first 3 will be done without the stuff, since you need to drop it.
The 3 next may certainly be the same.
Come the 3 last where you may need these infusions. Come on, if 3 items with infusion are enough ( that means 8 items without it) to do this last part, then my finger tell me it’s not gonna be that hard right now.
Where is the problem?

Grind? come one, how many thread could we see until 1 week ago saying " omg i can just grind, that’s so boring, i hate risen i want a new map, i find that armors are ugly i want some new ones …). Wait, grind? omg i will have to get 3 new items ! (1 even will be crafted with the mystic forge….).

But that’s only 3 kittening items ! the rest will progressively come with other updateS.

Running after some new stuff? come on you blind bots, that’s a new rarity king. Does it look like wow? do you have to grind that new item to be able to do another dungeon to get an even better event to make another….. ?
No you just have to get 3 items so please, don’t come crying about that, it’s not even near to what wow or other clones are like.

TL DR :

skritts are smarter the more numerous they are, gw2 players aren’t skritts, obviously.

Sadly, almost all skins (all in fact?) can be seen on gw2db. Go there and you’"ll understand : there aren’t many skins, except for focus, which is a bit strange….

I agree that some sense of progression may make it more interesting to get, but then, it must not cause problems to players that don’t aim for these. As long as the recipe doesn’t use mats that already exists or that are used in many other recipes, I don’t care.

Anyway, they want it to stay rare, and that’s merely the only way to keep legendaries rare. I don’t expect a drop in price, juste another way to get it, also involving RNG.

Well, i know the john smith said he has an update coming for some mats, but will these be concerned according to you?

glacial lonestone doesn’t have that much recipe and thus they are cheap. However, they have some nice ones, especially the ice bow.
But what about silk? leather (100 000+ ofr 8c/each while vendor is 7c, completely useless item)?
Samr goes for ancient bones, they are useless and near 4x cheaper then long bones…

1) it will be less rare in MF
2) there will be a true recipe for each of them

I really hope it’s not number 2 or you are gonna cry more then befroe.
Any recipe will involve mats and their price will skyrocket, no matter which they are, same if it involves weapons and precursors’ price will be even higher.

i completely agree, especially for the skins.
And, at least for gw1, the form of the event was always the same, but the gifts weren’t so i expect it to be the same here.

Anyway, i doubt there will be skins left in 1 year because keeping them that long would mean either you stopped playing, either you have so much money that you can wait years to sell it

i guess candy will go up, but ToT will be really more expensive. It will be the only way to get the mats for the weapon and since there will be less of them everyday, it will be way more expensive.
Remember that corn isn’t the only mats you need for these weapons.

Here is my guess :

prices of halloween exotics and skins went down because mats and skins will be available longer than we thought.
So what happened? Everyone started to fear a huge drop in prices and so, they started to sell their items.
Well, the skins will definitely go up, many people are buying them at 20/25 gold right now to sell them later. Some of these skins will be used and so, there’ll be less of them on the market.

So let’s wait and see. end of november, prices of the skin will be back at 40/50 gold (buy/sell).
