  • replace the red Commander Tag with something better visible for a red/green color-blind on the mostly green/brown Maps.

Yes!! But it absolutely must be optional because us color blind folk are the minority.

With such a “color-blind WvW” option, can I suggest the following?
- Option to replace team colors with shapes or patterns on the map. For example, “red” team owned camps are square whereas “blue” team owned camps are triangle.
- Option to replace commander tag color with different shapes (as well as patterns instead of colors so they don’t clash with, for example, green on the map)

The commander tag color is an issue I find more prevalent on the EotM map, because a large chunk of the map is brown, which causes red, green, and brown tags to be very hard to see.

Commanders that use the yellow tag are gods. Thank you for being visible.

ANet, Recognize WVW For What it Should Be...

I love WvW. I only play WvW and sPvP modes in GW2.

I think you are correct that WvW is a type of gameplay rarely seen in other games. The closest game I can compare WvW to would be EVE Online. The alternative that GW2 provides is a less demanding play style with less commitment required than EVE, while still able to provide a fluid long term battle that has consequences.

How do I leave a squad?

Just like you leave a Party. Same menu that pops out, except you hit Leave Squad.

To confirm you’re actually in a squad, you will see “Following Awesomemandude11” at the bottom when you open the arrow at the top left of the screen. If you see this, next to it is the Leave button. If you don’t, you’re not in a squad.

Leveling in WvW as a viable 1-80 Option

in WvW

Posted by: overrandom.2536

overrandom.2536

This might be echoed already in this thread, but I just wanted to throw my feedback in here because I’m a fan of it:

I leveled two characters to 80 with PvE. On the second 80, PvE started to get somewhat boring. Some of that leveling was with WvW, but not much.

My current character progression, I just really didn’t want to do PvE content all again but I want another 80. When the character hit level 30 (full utility slots and elite slot), I started leveling purely with WvW. That character is now level 62. I feel it has gone faster than PvE content, but it might be because I haven’t leveled like this before so it feels new.

There are pockets of time where you just aren’t progressing at all (such as, low WvW population with very little capping) and then there are times when you can progress 4 levels in 30-40 minutes.

If you like/love WvW, then it’s totally viable if you’re just done with PvE content for leveling. There are folks on the forums who claim non-80 (and non-80 gear) is ruining WvW, but this is not so if you know what you are doing.

Your mileage may vary, too. You could find you just can’t be effective, or you feel you can still own at level 1.

If I had to give pros and cons for WvW vs PvE:

Pros:
You will have plenty of Karma by level 80 (my level 60 has 102,000 Karma)
Feels new
Can progress your character by killing those you hate so dearly. Muahaha.

Cons:
Upleveling label is placed on you.
No WvW rewards from badges for you, except for blueprints.

Yes.

Also means if you spend an event only killing Veteran Karkas, missing the young karkas, you get no credit for the event.

Patch Feedback [merged]

Feedback can be given before it’s too late. An overpowered change or a horrible concept could be criticized and discussed which allows the developers to know what players want/need.

Yes, I agree. If only ArenaNet would talk about overpowered changes or game changing concepts. They really should come up with some method of informing us about major changes…

…And then, that would allow people to voice their concerns about it. I just don’t know how they would do that, though.

Sea of Sorrows--Henge of Denravi--Isle of Janthir--Update

in WvW

overrandom.2536

Considering I’m from Isle of Janthir, I really don’t want to admit this, but the recent “push” in WvW is not from our own doing. It’s from the opportunity by SoS when they realized they have at this point won the match. Among other ways, this was apparent after quite a few times whenever IoJ had a surge, Henge of Denravi also had more than 1 keep, an orb, and occasionally more income than IoJ.

WvWvW Character Names

in WvW

Posted by: overrandom.2536

overrandom.2536

There are a number of reasons, but it’s primarily because WvW and sPvP are different playstyles.

sPvP is supposed to feel like a sport. After each match, both sides go to the bar together to congratulate each other on a wonderful match.

WvW is supposed to feel like a serious war that has implications to each world. As such, all you need to know is it is “us” “them” and “those”. Anonymity is the best way to enhance that feeling.

I love this feature, really. Plus, when I have 30 enemies charging at me, the last thing I want to see is 30 different names that mean absolutely nothing to me. Just want to know if it’s “them” or “those”

I have to disagree. One of the best parts of the game when I played DAoC was creating rivalries….can’t do that with anonymity.

That is a good point about rivalries, but is there a point to having them when it’s battles of 30vs30 or more when in defense of a tower or keep?

ANET would get in to large amounts of legal troubles with Microsoft for even touching it.

Legal troubles? No. Some games and programs do block Alt F4.

The easiest thing to do is actually the same as other MMOs. Your game may quit, but your character never left (for a duration).

Fixes for WvWvW

in WvW

Posted by: overrandom.2536

overrandom.2536

WvW does have problems, but in my opinion I do not feel that these are the solutions. As such, these are my answers to your solutions. (numbered items refer to the Original Poster’s list)

1) This would make WvW feel more of a game than a war. If your side is outmanned, then you should recruit more to your war efforts. The easier solution to the population problem is closing free transfers as ANet had originally planned for (paid transfers, guest feature). It won’t be an immediate fix, but as each server goes through the WvW matches, they will eventually find the WvW tier they fit best into based on skill and population. I know this will happen eventually.

2) I think the initial cost of siege weapons is okay primarily because it ranges from weak to powerful. Supply cost is actually not very much if you’re playing it right. If you’re at 0 supply and your team is coming up to an encounter that requires siege, then the team should have stopped at or captured a supply camp. Don’t forget that supply camps generate supply very often. If all siege blueprints were available for free, everyone would carry tens of blueprints. The initial cost adds the thought of “okay, do can we manage with this or do we need to go bigger?” which is a normal thought for any war.

3) Again, WvW is not supposed to feel the same as sPvP. It’s a war, and as such there are casualties in war, damaged armor is one of those.

4) I’m having trouble understanding what you’re asking for in this one. Can you reword real quick?

5) I think this can’t be worked on at the moment because of free transfers. Obviously WvW rewards would go to the ones doing better. With free transfers, you can jump to the winning server, reap the rewards then do it again when the timer is up. That being said, I’ve only been doing WvW whenever I’m in GW2 as I feel it rewards me better than PvE does (minus dungeons).

6) In sPvP, it’s a skill based gladiator competition so it makes sense for sPvP to force all participants to the same stats. WvW is by design supposed to be shifted by players who are fitted correctly. My answer to 6 is the same as 1. If your team has a bunch of underleveled folks, then you need to recruit more or train your men. Plus, you’re supposed to be able to level a character in WvW if you so desire.

Yes.

I just accidentally bought an armor piece for 42k Karma that isn’t even my weight class. Happened because I double clicked instead of pressing preview.

So, can’t even vendor it again at a loss like you guys, and it’s soulbound.

At the very least, if not a refund system, block buying of stuff you can’t use.

Swap Weapons + skill = infinite animation loop

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Swap Weapons + Skill causes infinite animation loop

This is a cool one. See linked videos.

Mesmer, Blurred Frenzy: http://youtu.be/QDhXnu8G66I
Mesmer, Mind Stab: http://youtu.be/37sAvRKA-J4
Ranger, Barrage: http://youtu.be/l2zwEmKgdtM
Ranger, Swoop: http://youtu.be/Y7tPgYYOfbA

Tested with Mesmer and Ranger, however this works with all professions permitting you have a skill that fits this glitch.

Using a skill that has an animation designed to loop, as well as movement restriction, at the exact same time as swapping your primary weapons causes the first skill used to (potentially) loop infinitely.

The glitch is entirely cosmetic. Tested in combat and it doesn’t actually affect anything. If you have a hostile selected and you have an attack on auto-cast, the glitch goes away. This will also go away on its own if your character sheathes the weapon (either automatically or pressing a hotkey for it)

Other players can see you in this state.

There is a side-effect that could potentially be annoying! Using a skill that restricts movement (i.e. Mind Stab, Barrage, Blurred Frenzy, etc.) will cause this glitch to make you immovable until you use the same skill again. You cannot dodge or jump out of this. In some cases, you cannot press Escape for the menu if your settings are set in a particular way as Escape is by default supposed to end your skill. However, this skill does not end by that method. Teleportation skills, however, do end this glitch.

While that last paragraph shows this should be fixed, I was more concerned when I first found it that I could use blurred frenzy infinitely. This was not so and thus I don’t think is an exploit. But it was an exploit earlier on making me laugh. [/cornyjoke]

Seeing map/armors/stuck/weapons or other art issues?

—Female Human Ranger—

[kind of significant] 1- Walking with a Two handed weapon drawn drawn. Two handed weapon clips through head. Occasionally snaps back into where it should be, but only after you strafe left and right a bunch of times.

2- Walking backwards with long hair. Also take note of weapon clipping through Marksman’s armor.

—Male Human Mesmer with Heritage armor—

1. One handed sword and torch (will happen with any weapon that is attached to waist)

2. Walking back or forwards with a two handed weapon on back.
