My Thief friends: you need a buff. It’s ridiculous how many solid, viable Thief builds have been nerfed. The QQer baddies don’t understand that their constant whining is what got us to this place to begin with. You see so many Backstab, Perma-stealth, and Condi Bunker builds these days because there are so few viable builds because of QQ.

As a fellow Ele I ask that you stop QQing in the Thief forums. It makes us competent Ele’s look bad. If you can’t beat a Thief as an Ele then you have some serious L2P issues. Post patch I two-shot glass Thieves. Maybe 3-4 if they have a little survivability. Oh, and there’s this cool neat-o-riffic thing-a-ma-jigger called Area of Effect. You have AOE control AND damage, which is the bane of all Thieves. It’s incredibly easy to knock a Thief out of their SR as an Ele. When they go invis just start dropping AOE. If they BS, count to two and dodge roll. If they BP+HS, drop AOE and get ready with your stun-breakers and controls. It’s really that easy. You just have to be patient and wait for the Thief to make a fatal mistake.

Invincible Warriors with Unlimited mobility and Op bursts with Op hammer, Invincible Elementalists with Op defense and offense + Op healing; who needs a Guardian anyway?
Not too long ago, i was hit with thief 13k backstab, 7k heartseeker, 10k cloak and dagger.. how is this feature patch not enough?
With no counter to stealth, zero interest in balancing OP class, guild wars 2 will not stand a chance against mmo’s who refuse these OP mechanics in their game.
History tells us, having No counter to stealth and having God Mode philiosphy defining balance, will only result in FAILURE.
(imagine having WoW with guild wars 2 balance philosophy, would it prosper the way it is?)

A kittenload of people from other professions will tell you they have no problem with thieves because they learned how the class works. They’ve sought advice from thieves or have rolled a thief themselves in order to understand thief tactics. Those people see thieves as a major joke.
This. One thousand times this. I learned how to fight Thieves by rolling one ( I still suck at it, but I am now intimate with the mechanics) and by hanging out in OS and dueling Thieves. You’d be surprised how many duelists will take the time to spar with you and help you get better. These days I only have issues with Thieves that don’t stealth a lot. Those guys are usually pretty good and have tons of evades and mobility. They are hard to keep up with but they seem difficult to play.

I’d be happy if they made it comparable to Rocket Boots. Similar type of skill, one would think. Reduce the CD, make it remove cripple, chill, and immobilize, and reduce the range a bit.

I ran with battle / strength for a while and was easily hitting 22 stacks of might, but it wasn’t wrecking anyone. Only difference I saw was that I could handle a little more sustained focus, which wasn’t an effect of the might.
So it seems like doing lethal damage as an elementalist is the same as it was before the patch — a mystic unicorn that requires specific combinations and perfect lighting to achieve. Whereas I could play any of my other more boring characters and win at least half of the battles without[u] intense pre-meditated multi-step combinations.
I hate how much I only love playing my elementalist.
To be fair and show some positivity, I do love this recent patch. I think it’s a fantastic direction for everything. Only disappointment is that I thought elementalists would be more… different.
This is the core issue still. The skill cap on a D/D Ele is pretty high comparatively but there is little to no pay off for playing at a high level. We have to do 2-3x the work for the same result. I would be happy with putting in the extra work if I out performed other classes by some sort of measurable margin.
For instance, I am primarily a WvW roamer. I find that if I fight a decently competent Warrior I have to outplay said Warrior in every single way for the entire fight. If I make even one mistake it results in me having to go on the defensive for a moment while he regens all of my damage, which effectively resets the fight for him. Meanwhile, the Warrior can just keep charging at me and keep spamming skills without ever having to worry about dodging.
I’m not saying that Ele’s should be able to roflstomp every single class/spec, but it gets old owning Thieves. Hey, at least they didn’t nerf our perma-Vigor like I was afraid would happen. That would have made D/D Ele completely useless as I mitigate most of the incoming damage with dodge rolls.

Ah, the “play to win!” quote I hear so much. The hilarious thing is, these words often come from the mouths of those who intentionally tank just before a season. Hell, sometimes it’s even that person themselves that orchestrated the tank. Yeah, talk to commander on YB, find out who wanted to tank and who didn’t. It’s kind of funny.

yeah i was trying to get back to you and tell you that you’re fine! i often times come off as biased towards thieves, but in reality i just know more about them then the other professions, so i like exerting my opinion about them more. youre right though, d/p is rather cheesy. i just never like to call something cheesy based off the weps some one uses, more on how they use them
No worries, and that’s a fair point. I often immediately think “CHEEEEESE!” when I encounter a P/S condi Engi without checking for perplexity yet. I just assume they are all cheese perplexity so I’m not taken off guard.
I all admit to having a noobplexity engi alt. When I get frustrated with all of the cheese running around I grab my own cheese. It’s fun, but I feel bad when I do it.

personally i think cheese is an issue with weapon skills. it’s not really fair to assume some one is using cheese tactics just because you noticed an active signet, or a specific weapon set.. we arent given much choice when it comes to weapons, and we are given 0 choice as to what skills come with the weapons. SO mr. patricide when a p/d perplexity thief hit you with a scorpion wire, then uses thieves guild, then hides in stealth and caltrops you, he might be a little cheesy, but if a thief is just utilizing fair weapon tactics and class abilities, he isnt cheese. ( not trying to rag on you, but p/d gets a lot of crap, its also my main, so i feel more comfortable supporting it, or calling it out).
tl;dr cheese is abuse of high value items that have yet to receive any form of true balancing, such as perplexity runes, and using said high valued items to the nth degree.

It’s really not that hard to defend. Of course if you stand on a wall in front of a 40 man zerg they will AOE melt your face. The trick is to have your siege cover each other. i.e. Arrow Carts cover Ballistae, Trebuchets cover your ACs, etc. Of course the enemy will find a way to counter what you’re doing, so have everyone bring supply and be ready to counter them again. It’s like a chess game, and if you have a clever commander (like our siegemaster… i are n00b at siege) you can hold the NE tower, Hills, NW tower, etkittenil the cows come home.

ok Anet please pay attention to what HOD is doing. They faced FC for the past two weeks and they completely steamrolled them all week long. Now all of a sudden their players aren’t steamrolling FC all week. I believe they are purposely tanking the scores so they wont have to play against more competitive servers. I wouldn’t be complaining if the scores were close before but they really need to be in the same division as Blackgate or Jade Quarry. The only reason the scores are this close this week is because they are TANKING. This crap sucks for FC and its just stupid to continue to keep them in our division.

So, ARM, you want a class that can:
- Catch the most mobile class in the game (therefore becoming the most mobile class)
- Win in 1v2 no matter what
- Win every 1v1
- Have great heals
- Have great damage
- Have great defense
- Have great condition mitigation
- Have great sustainability
- Have great burst
…. need I go on? You probably first rolled D/D Ele when it was the flavor of the month (God Mode) and you haven’t been able to handle it since.
I’m curious, what server do you play on? If you happen to be on a server I regularly face I’ll be more than happy to take you to the woodshed and show you how to play.

Pretty sure their zergs took everything on all the BL and all came out to EB. Don’t know where our server is, and we can’t get an outmanned to even have an incentive to stick around because of that “other server” that is in the matchup. They are running with IoJ and GoM size zergs now everytime I manage to log on.
Don’t worry AR most of us on DR know how you guys feel and the majority of us respect you enough not to take everything you have and spawn camp you. We may take it from HoD, so they don’t get the points and reset it for you guys to take back a little easier but, most of the time we don’t bother defending it. But for the most part with our limited numbers we are just trying to keep the massive HoD zerg off our stuff, which proves futile with 3 to 1 odds.
Yeah… Never see DR zerging and building siege to camp our spawn OH WAIT.

My server TS is reporting frequent and unusually high rates of Crashing To Desktop when in WvW tonight, but not being effected when in PvE. Anyone else dealing with this?
Lower down your WvWvW Character limit/quality.That helped for me ! Have a kinda high end system and thought i was able to go all high with the wvwvw limits,but it made me cd alot.Have them now at low ( you barely notice the difference )and no more crashes.

You guys have been fighting us for a few weeks, now. You see how hard our SEA/Oceanic crew fights! They pull off some crazy kitten and they could use some help to mess with our enemies’ minds!!

Like many have said before, Yaks and opposing servers alike, Yaks Bend is a solid T3 server primarily because of our strong cohesion and teamwork in our NA forces. We don’t have a lot of super huge organized WvW guilds, but what we do have is an organized SERVER with a strong community. We have one of the largest Latin American alliance on our server that works great with our NA contingent. If there is a timezone we lack in, it is definitely in the Oceanic/SEA times. Our list of off peak guilds currently are Devils Den [DD], Eastern Wind [EW], and of course our aussies on The Older Gamers [TOG]. We usually have around 20-30 people in WvW during these time and it is still impossible to hold on to anything during nightcaps ( right now by Dragonbrand, who we wreck during NA =D). Like Rheayas said, Yak’s Bend is in need of a solid SEA guild like yours. We have a strong community that tends to look out for each other. Our Oceanic/SEA guilds have no choice but to work closely together, as there are so few. They do a great job of holding the line with whatever they can scrap for until the NA/SA/EU crew arrives to begin painting everything our color.
I know you’ve heard of other servers in T3 and below that are only successful because they have an overwhelming SEA/Oceanic crew.. Yak’s Bend is the exact opposite. We have a crack NA/SA team that regularly sees 500+ point ticks in our prime. What we need now is a strong Oceanic/SEA crew. That’s where you guys come in!
The question is: what are your guild’s goals? Do you want to be just another SEA guild in a mass of SEA guilds? Or do you want good fights and good competition? Do you want to be the guild that helps Yak’s Bend solidify itself at the top of Tier 3? That’s up to you.

This has been one interesting matchup so far. From amazing fights with TYSM, Krew, BP, and GASM (GASM you sneaky tricksters you! :P) on reset night to good fights with roamers, I’ve enjoyed this.
It is my hope that next week Yak’s Bend will put up more of a fight. A few weeks back we had this explosion of drama and we are finally getting our kitten together and healing up. Hopefully we can give you guys the fights you deserve.
