Nobody has to spend $10 for another character slot seeing as you can convert gold to gems and if a veteran players doesn’t have enough gold for one more character slot well not even sure what to say about that

So a big Kitten You to us “filthy casuals,” huh?

I never seen so much victim blaming as in this thread.

For previous players…The $50 price tag would be fine, if HoT was the size of a Nightfall-esque Xpac, in other words: almost an entire game’s worth of content. From what we’ve been told, it’s nowhere near that much.
The $50 price tag would be fine, if it held just a little more content than previously featured, and a character slot. HoT may have the extra meat on it’s bones, hidden by devs, but no character slot.
The $50 price tag is only an attractive deal to new players. Which is where the extra money is at anyway.

It’s not being greedy to expect the same value for the same price. “Including the core game as a freebie” is a base lie, the type I’ve heard sold better at used car lots. “I’ll just throw in the cost of floor mats and cleaning the windows for free because you’re such a nice guy.”

HoT Price Feedback + Base game included [merged]

To clarify: $50 is the price of the expansion. We included the core game as a free bonus to make it easier for new players to get into it.

“You’re going to love this new used car, it’ll really give you a bang for your buck, and because I like you so much, I’ll throw the floor mats in for free. What do you say? Are you ready to drive out of here in your new used car today?”

… Each map will take you less than an hour to complete.

I’m sorry I have to interject here.. Less than an hour for a HoT map? Only with a zerg to run with, or at least a good dependable party. Or drugs.

[Bug, Issue] Daily Chest Vanished/Day Skipped

I don’t care how old this thread is, a hard to find thread on a forum is no excuse for there being NO WARNING about this happening.

I just waved good-bye to 6 Mystic Coins because I made a new character first thing of the day, then deleted it to re-make it without touching the flashing chest icon.

Want to bind the daily to the first thing of the day that sees light? Okay, but for KITTENS sake, throw in a godkitten warning!

6th playable race, what's your top 3 pick?

in Lore

Posted by: quacthulhu.2546

quacthulhu.2546

1.Tengu
2.Largos
3. Krait
(4. Palawa Joko’s “free” undead)

either of those could be potentially the racial opposition against the “deep sea dragon” (Bubbles)
It wouldn’t be Skritt or Quaggan, nor Grawl, because in Lore these are considered “lesser races,” that is they’re not as refined. Krait may fall under this heading, but they’re pretty much all evil, so a ‘rebel faction’ of them doesn’t seem likely. Tengu seems the most likely for an expansion race; their hub city is already in a set area and connects to a 1-15 lvl zone (Caledon Forest), and could easily connect to Kessex Hills, and already connects to Lion’s Arch. It may also connect to Southsun Cove.

Largos are mostly unknown about, but a race that was rooted in aquatics would make for a nice change, and the lack of knowledge about them leaves a LOT of wiggle room for developers. But where would they be based at? Most of the world map is accommodated for something else (even though not released/available yet)

However.. Palawa Joko’s “free” undead could prove to be (unoriginal) assets too. If we take into account the known and suspected dragons (Jormag-Ice/Primordius-Fire, “deep sea dragon”-Water(deep things)/Kralkatorrik-Land(elevated things), Zhaitan-Death/“jungle dragon”-Life), and since no set race is (so far) singally set against the deep sea dragon, that leaves the “jungle dragon” to be set against.. The Sylvari are diametrically opposed to the death-dragon, so Joko’s undead would be diametrically opposed to the “life”-dragon.

Also Nightfall, you were given 2 character slots if you already owned any other campaign. It shows how Arenanet handled these things in the past vs. now.

I never even realized that. I got all the GW1 Xpacs at once when they were super cheap/old.

Honestly, I think Anet is playing the “squeeze the money from the impatient!” game right now. Putting up the strictest, most newbie-friendly plans at the full asking price, because there will always be people who leap onto that stuff. Anet has to make it’s profit, that’s fair, but I hope we get a “expansion only” cheaper version of these deals, or something else tossed in to make it worth the cost, likely further down the line. I don’t want to think Anet just turned ice-cold on us. I can expect a little money-grubbing from a company, any company, it’s capitalism, ta-da! I’ll only feel hurt if it stays this way without any concession.
and “hurt” veterans tend to stop spending money.

Overwolf and the 64-bit client

in Account & Technical Support

Posted by: quacthulhu.2546

quacthulhu.2546

Alright, since Overwolf was not working properly with the 64-bit client (not overlaying), I looked into and determined that it was because the 64-bit client game (different exe name, so it defines it as a separate game) was not on Overwolf’s supported game list. This list is located in you AppData folder, and is in xml format. To try to work around this issue (because the 64b client is still in beta, so it is reasonable to assume that Overwolf won’t add it to their list yet), I roughly edited the GamesList xml file. This likely isn’t a simple solution for everyone, and it’s not perfect (more on that later), but it at least overlays the apps. Always make a back-up copy of your files before you start tinkering with them.

1. First, find your AppData. Locate localappdata/overwolf by plugging it into your Start run/search bar (I don’t know what the Mac equivalent of this is)

2. Locate the GamesList.(some numbers here).xml file. Copy it, paste the copy somewhere you won’t lose it or accidentally edit it. Overwolf should automatically redownload the file if you delete it, it’s about 2.5 MB large, not too terrible if you screw up.
3. After you have made your safe copy, open the original file to edit. Open it in Notepad or some other simple text program.
4. Search for the term “gw2.exe”, or whatever variant you have the 32-bit client named as on your computer. If you don’t know how to look that up, you probably shouldn’t be editing xml. (Sorry, but truth.)
5. When you find that term in the xml file, you will see an entire section dedicated to it. It should look something (or exactly) like this:[pre] (EDIT: the code tag seems to have limits here)

<GameInfo> <ID>78561</ID> <GameTitle>Guild Wars 2</GameTitle> <LuancherNames> <string>Gw2.exe</string> </LuancherNames> <GameRenderers>D3D9</GameRenderers> <InjectionDecision>Supported</InjectionDecision> <GameGenres>Role-Playing_Real-Time-Battle-RPG</GameGenres> <FixResolutionChange>true</FixResolutionChange> <FixSWL>true</FixSWL> <UseLongHook>true</UseLongHook> <DisableResizeRelease>true</DisableResizeRelease> <Client_GameControlMode>MixedAlwaysAvailable</Client_GameControlMode> <UseMCH>6;10</UseMCH> </GameInfo>

[/pre]
6. Copy all of that ^
7. On the next line after that section, create a space and paste the ^ that you just copied. It should have the same spacing as the rest of the file.
8. Change the ID number by +1. My example: 78562
9. Change the LuancherNames string to the 64-bit client’s exe filename. My example: GW2-64.exe
10. Leave everything else the same. Save the file, and close it.
11. Run your attempt. Don’t leave something open that you can lose by system crashing (just in case). Start Overwolf first, then run the 64-bit client, and open the apps you normally would run on the 32-bit client. Check them all, this isn’t a foolproof method for “fixing” it. I’m no programmer.

Here is how my finished product appeared in the GamesList file (including preceding and subsequent partial sections)

Wait for the price to go down over time, or an “upgrade only” version, or a “choice of base game or gems” concession.

If/When it doesn’t happen, then we have full authority to rage
