Are the Shukov’s Launch Codes earrings even in the game yet? I haven’t seen them anywhere and nobody has even heard of them.
I currently have zero interest in making an alt.
My Necro keeps me content so until I get bored I see no need for alts.
/received Karka Box
It was a fun class to play though.
1) Ability for everyone to Resurrect each other.
2) Great areas for Exploration.
3) Amazing Art Styling.
4) Open Questing System.
5) Action Oriented Combat
I’ve found the best way I can play Guild Wars 2 currently and not quit is to simply pretend that Ascended Gear and Fractals do not exist.
Hello there.
just a quick message to let you know that this issue has been passed on to the team so they are aware of this and working on it. We understand that it is kind of hard to report in such circumstances but we would encourage you to keep trying, if you see some more. You can also make a screenshot and send it along with a report to Customer Support through the ticketing system.
Thanks for your reports and patience!!!
We’ve been reporting this for months now and nothing is being done about it. gZoom has allowed this since beta and you guys haven’t broken it yet.
I’ve found the Bandana in Fireheart Rise from the vendor that has 4 horns on the back of it. I heard there is another Bandana graphic that has like bones hanging off of it in a higher zone. Just not sure where. In GW1 my characters always wore the bandanas and well I want to keep the tradition alive. Thanks for any help.
I do agree with the SE, HOTW, and COF armors. Will have to look up the Berserker’s Acolyte to see.
Just curious what Light armors you’ve came across that look like Medium or Heavy armors when equipped.
Make Ascended Gear stat bonuses and Agony Resistance only work in Fractal Dungeons and future Agony dungeons. Outside of those areas make the stats simply act like Exotic equipment. You had equipment right in GW1.
If you have trouble in Orr just running around, then you need to improve one of these three things.
1) Improve your ability with your class.
2) Improve on your spec.
3) Improve on your gear.
The zone isn’t hard and if need be virtually everything can be ran from by any class.
Southsun Cove is harder fights than any comparable spot in Orr. The only Orr zone I dislike is Straits of Devastation because the zone itself I feel is designed very poorly.
Your gaming background?
I’ve played games since getting an Atari 2600 when I was 5 years old or so. Since then I have owned virtually every console released. My father went to college for Computer Programming so I got into computers at a similar age with the Atari 800. I went through the early stages of BBS gaming because I like Table-Top RPG’s and it was a natural progression. Then I got into early online games such as Neverwinter, Red Dragon Inn, and Meridian 59 in the early/mid 90’s. A friend was testing Ultima Online and got me into Phase 1 CBT for UO at which point I fell in love with the MMORPG concept. Around the same time (late 90’s/early 2000’s) I was also working as a game tester and some R&D for Acclaim, Activision, Tecmo, and Z-Axis Ltd. My love for console games still remains even if I am no longer working in the industry. However, UO opened me to a brand new experience and then getting into the beta test for Everquest sealed the deal for future MMORPG’s and my love of them. I’ve played hundreds if not thousands of them from the NA Market (probably every AAA release) to EU/Asia Markets (so many KR/CN/JP F2P and a couple sub games, they sometimes just blur together) over the past 16 years. WoW was the game I found to maintain a good balance among PvE and PvP. Although, I consider Final Fantasy XI and Horizons to have the best PvE experiences and Dark Age of Camelot is still hands down the best PvP experience to date.
Love/Hate GW2?
At the moment to be honest I am quite Neutral on the game. I don’t Hate it since it does so many things right. Love I can’t use right now because I think the recent FOTM/Ascended Update took the game in a very poor direction. Prior to that I very much loved the game and I hope it improves in the future to bring me back around. Otherwise, it’ll be a fun diversion until Elder Scrolls Online, Blade & Soul, ArcheAge, Bless, or another interesting MMORPG captures my attention.
I still wish the information provided had been something new and not just the same regurgitated pr spin we’ve had for weeks now.
I just grabbed the Lvl 80 Soldier Jewelry off the TP and Crested them, so it was about 50s per item for the moment. I’ll decide on weapons when I log in later tonight. I’ll prob start the AC grind tonight, but may grab Ebonhawke rares or Knight Exotic as temp uses. I very much dig the idea of this build and since i have 3 sets of gear on my Necro already. No harm in making a 4th set. :-p
Main issue I have is just how kittening annoying it is to get a full set of Exotic Soldier gear. I have 6 pc armor and back so far. Thinking of just grabbing rare jewelry and weapons for the moment. I dread farming AC for weapons and WvW is not a viable farm for the gear. 30g+ for neck sucks as well and that is making it yourself.
It depends on the Capacitor used.
Colossus is absolutely the only Fractal I enjoy doing because it is the most interesting.
I am most definitely waiting for the updates/fixes to WvW. It’s sad that I can do the JP once and get more badges than I would just doing WvW for 8hrs.
I agree that other MMORPG’s feel odd or off compared to GW2. You might go give something very different like Day Z, LoL, Dota, or Planetside 2 for example a try or another try depending on if you have played them. Heck, this past weekend I ran around a bit in Planetside 2, SW:TOR, and RaiderZ a bit myself.
Forums are always going to have people trolling for the sake of trolling.
Go play another game and come back later.
I think you are forgetting that time equals money. The above Ascended piece you are proposing takes a very large amount of time to make. I’ve pointed this out before and I’ll point it out again.
Fractal Lvl 1-10 = 355 Fractal Relics (Time to complete is 7.5-22.5 hours depending on group experience.)
Fractal Lvl 11-20 = 400 Fractal Relics (Time to complete is 7.5-22.5 hours depending on group experience.)
Fractal Lvl 20+ = 27 FR per Odd Run and 54 FR per Even run. (Time is infinite…)
So, in roughly 15-45 hours (Use 30 hours for an average group.) you have gained 755 Fractal Relics out of the 1850 Fractal Relics you need. That means you need to complete 27 Fractal Cycles at Lvl 20+ in order to purchase the Capacitor and the Gift. To complete 27 Fractal Cycles ranges from 20.25 hours to 60.75 hours so well average that at 30 hours to keep it even. So, to get your back piece you only have to grind FOTM for roughly 60 hours… On the bright side if you do FOTM for 60 hours then you increase the probability of your RNG Ascended ring dropping. =)
The group with more Mesmers?
Getting LA overflows doesn’t mean the population of the game has improved or grown. It simply means that Anet has driven the PvE population into LA so they can grind FOTM over and over for a chance at gear upgrades.
People have posted plenty of evidence to support viewpoints on the missteps that are being made with GW2. The majority of it gets locked or deleted. All you have to do is read/watch the GW2 Manifesto, Whiteside posts, and interviews with Mike, Colin, Eric, Ree, etc to name a few to see why people are not happy with the current direction of the game. Many are hoping the Q&A today sheds some light into why the game is headed in the direction it is currently. GW2 launched as the game we wanted that was different from the standard and on 11/15 it became just another MMORPG.
If you are happy with the game, then that is awesome. Some of us however supported the game for years, spent a lot of money to show our support prior and after launch, and at the moment feel duped by it’s current direction.
Has there been any word of Soldier, Rabid, and such items being added to current Tradeskills so we can craft them in the near future?
Aka 1850 Fractal Relics, 24 Skill Points, and a RNG FOTM Item.
Considering you earn 355 Relics from Fractal Lvl 1-10 and 400 Relics from Lvl 11-20 you have quite a ways until you earn the 1850 needed. That’s 15 hrs roughly if you are doing all of this with a top of the line group to get 40ish % of the Relics you need. Looking at the rate of increase from Fractal Lvl 20-28 you’ll be grinding FOTM for 30+ hours to get this version of the Back piece. During this time in all fairness you’ll earn enough gold to just make the other version. Sad… Very sad.
If you don’t like what you read on the forums or are easily swayed by peoples opinions, then don’t come to the forums. It’s a pretty simple concept.
When you actually grind for gear, come talk to me. When you only have speculation about what’s yet to come, you have no basis to argue.
Questions?
I’m guessing you haven’t played any of the new content or educated yourself on it. Two items were introduced in this new tier of gear that is bridging an invisible gap in gear that was recently discovered by the design team. The Ascended Rings are gotten from the Fractals of the Mist dungeon as a RNG drop once you have gotten to Lvl 10+ in the Fractal System. The Back Items are a new Mystic Forge recipe using existing T6/SP items and RNG drops from FOTM. This is just the start of the grind and as new pieces are added it’ll continue this way as far as we know.
Ascended Ring – Currently the only way to get one of these rings is via running the new FOTM dungeon. You also must achieve Dungeon Lvl 10 or higher (Same time Agony appears on bosses) before they start to drop. What that means is you have to run 30 Fractals aka 10 Fractal Cycles (3 Fractals Completed without Repairing) in order to get to Level 10. Now that you have gotten this far which ranges from 7.5hrs to 22.5hrs (Depending on group and Experience on average.) of running the fractals over and over you finally have a chance to run them more for a chance at the Ring you need dropping for you. You could be lucky and get this your next run or you could run it a 1000 times and never see it. Welcome to RNG fun!
Note: If you get to FOTM Dungeon Lvl 20+ you have a chance for the Infused Ascended rings dropping, so you get to start a whole different set of runs and fight RNG for the rings that you really want. So much fun I can barely contain myself.
Ascended Back Item – This is a fairly brutal unless you just happen to have an extra 50g-75g or so lying around. 250 T6 Fine Mats + 50 Ecto + 1 Vial of Condensed Mists Essence + 1 Gift of Ascension. T6 Mats… Either grind a ton of mobs for days on end or buy them off the TP for premium prices. Ecto… Still grinding mobs or dungeons then blowing up Lvl 70+ Rares/Exotics for a chance at them or spending a premium at the TP. Vial… Welcome back to the Fractals for a RNG chance at an essence drop. Gift… Costs 500 Fractal Relics from the FOTM NPC. So, that means you’re grinding the heck out of FOTM. Just grinding up to Dungeon Lvl 10 only got you 355 Fractal Relics… So, once again we are having tons of fun.
Note: I want my Ascended Back to be the Infused version! Well, put your Book/Quiver in the MF along with 250 Ecto, 1 Gift of Ascension, and 1 Glob of Coagulated Mist Essence. The back item you already made. The gift of Ascension you’ve made one that only took 8hrs or more, but since you’re high level in the dungeons now it’ll only take you another 4hrs or so to get. 250 Ecto… You must be swimming in exotics by now just waiting to be blown up. Coagulated… This only takes 5 Vial of Condensed Mists Essence (Remember that annoying RNG thing you ground out earlier… Now you just need 5 more) plus 1 Mystic Coin, 1 Ecto, and 1 Fractal Relic in the MF to make. I’m bouncing around like Tigger just full of fun now.
Infusions – Now that you have the fancy Ascended gear you have to fill in that pesky Infusion slot. For 75 Fractal Relics you get a Simple Infusion and for 225 Fractal Relics you get a Versatile Infusion. These are the Agony Resistance only and are sold by the FOTM vendor. If you want Infusions with additional Stats (which we know we all want), then for Simple you need 1 Eldritch Scroll, 20 Mystic Coin, 250 Karka Shells or Passion Fruit (Depends on Off or Def Infusion), and 100 T6 Fine Item. First two Items are cake. Karka Shells have a terrible drop rate (but I suppose you could buy the chest from the gem shop for some help). Passion Fruit are just a long gathering process. I think both would be about 5g on the TP or so. 100 T6… Well, we’re back to the annoying grind unless you’re willing to pay the TP Premium.
Note: Versatile Infusions – Having the simple ones is just ghetto. We need the best! The basic recipe is 2 Eldritch Scroll, 50 Mystic Coins, 100-250 T6 Mats, and 100-250 Passion Fruit/Passion Flower/Karka Shells/etc… The last two components are varied depending on stats and off/def/omni wanted. More and more grind or preimum TP again.
Now if in the making of the 2 new items you don’t see a serious commitment of time and cash that is a very insane grind, then I firmly believe you are in a state of denial, trolling, or just blind.
Two things from me:
- We will talk in more detail about the things Chris outlined when we get closer to releasing them.
- If this thread becomes another one where people bicker back and forth about Ascended gear, I will close it down. Please continue discussion about Ascended gear in the existing threads on that topic and do not derail every thread that pops up.Thank you.
Kinda hard to talk about Ascended Gear and the debacle it created by being added when the largest thread pertaining to it was shut down by you guys and we were told it didn’t matter anyways because only another thread you guys had created was of any importance. This was after the original thread had hit 10k replies. This new post from Chris tells us absolutely nothing but a lot of vague outlines which seems to be his forte at the moment. Many of us would like some actual information regarding the game right now and not tid bits leaked as they are about to be implemented. You blindsided us with the Ascended Armor and recent Lost Shore patch which turned the game into something that many of us had not agreed to in the first place.
Now that we desire answers all you want to do is play holiday hide-n-seek. We have givien you thousands of posts regarding the problems with the direction of the game. Media outlets right at this very moment and over the past few days are expressing the very same astonishment at Anet being so quiet on this move and the reasoning behind the move. The only pearl of enjoyment people seem to agree on is the Fractals (even to the point of Swamp which is annoying), but that joy is just in doing them and not in the fact we have to grind them. With the holiday juke now we have to wait until next week to get any type of possible answer.
I don’t think you will ever get a solid civil discussion on this matter until you slow down the gestapo actions and Anet provides us with some concrete answers on the direction of the game and possible changes to recently implemented game defining materials. I brought a bit over two dozen people into this game when it launched and thanks to recent events I now have 4 of them still playing. That is pretty telling to me.
I answered No. Which saddened me since I brought a couple dozen people to this game to begin with and I feel bad for them.
It’s already borderline pay2win with RMT → Gem → Gold to buy items to make Exo/Asc/Leg… Why not go the other half inch and just sell the gear. 5k Gem each piece is a bit much though. 800-1.6k per piece would be more appropriate and I’d enjoy swiping my Visa as opposed to grinding Fractals till I’m cross-eyed.
No. No. No.
I too would like to know why people who over the past few years have been very passionate about creating a very specific type of game could allow such a patch to make it into the game.
The wording isn’t even remotely vague except in the concept of more than one tier of gear progression between Ascended and Legendary. They are adding another tier of gear and revising an established tier. Ascended will be a new “bridge” between Exotic and Legendary. This bridge did not exist before and was created specifically so that they could introduce a new tier of gear.
Two new Ascended pieces were added in the patch (back piece and ring) and more will be added in the future at various dates until the full set is released along with new Legendary items as well. Legendary under it’s new property will always be equal to the top tier items available. This means you have created a full Tier of equipment for people to work on and extended a Cosmetic top tier.
The unfortunate thing is Anet hasn’t owned up to this and taken responsibility for the debacle. They have stated Ascended was created because people felt they didn’t have anything to work on and that Legendary items had been gained to quickly. If you didn’t want Legendary Items created so quickly, then you should not have made the majority of the items in it capable of being purchased with gold or traded.
Yes it should be. The game equipment state should be moved back to pre-lost shore patch and if they want to keep Ascended it should be a cosmetic upgrade only.
Maybe you should check this thread for some serius feedback.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Thoughts-on-Ascended-Gear-Merged-threads/page/214
They’ve already stated this is their “Feedback” thread and the other thread is only to be used for “Discussion”. Aka “We hope these complaints go away if we make it awkward enough to follow the threads”.
Gear requirements that are created by players are a whole different obstacle than a purposely orchestrated gear check by the game designers. Especially one as poorly implemented as this new “Ascended/Infusion/Agony” debacle. You could have done your gear check without as much punishment to players by utilizing the same system for Infused Armor we had in GW1.
Yeah, the event finale I found quite irritating. I was unable to do the finale so I missed out on the 20 slot bag, 2 exotics, and 2 rares… even though I had done the other events fri/sat I got nothing for it. Would have been nice to get the rewards for having been to at least one of the one time events.
I very much agree vesper and wish more people did. It grew tiring in WoW having the top players usually wind up being those who had the guild links in order to get the latest epics.
I like the idea of Non-Ascended Servers because it reminds me of Classic servers from Dark Age of Camelot. The DAoC Trials of Atlantis expansion caused such a rift in the community because of new large scale raid encounters and gear grind that people simply quit. Mythic saw how much of an issue this was so they created the Classic servers which had no content from the TOA expansion in them. It was very nice to play with a gear plateau and let skill decide the victor.
I heard they are adding a new dungeon soon so you can upgrade your infractions. They will also be adding new ways to get them via WvW and the Gem Store.
RNG is never the answer when it comes to “progression”.
I invited 1 person and had 2 other people come in to try the game who were invited by other friends. All 3 of them went back to WoW before the Sunday finale. The event having some many problems left a bad taste in their mouth.
You are already able to buy most things in the game with RMT via Gem to Gold conversion as has been pointed out. Anet is already tweaking the economy here and there plus people exploiting various dungeons/events and simply farming gold to sell for RL Cash have it messed up as well. So, we don’t need more gestapo actions on the economy unless it’s a full reset.
In all honesty we have no idea. However if people accept this Ascended gear like good little soliders, then you can bet more progression will be added at later dates. This was simply a test to see if you are willing to drink the kool-aid.
Yup, it’s a day when you look at the Calendar and you just sigh because it’s not April 1st.
I think one of the most disheartening things about this whole fiasco is the lack of serious communication from Anet.
