Transmuting weapons preserves higher rarity

Doesn’t look like there’s an answer yet. I’m concerned as well. I’d actually like to transfer my Twilight to another character for purposes of changing my race, but I’m afraid it’s going to break upgrading to Eternity later.

Random issues in no particular order:

  • Many bosses take entirely too long to kill for their simplicity. Honor of the Waves is an easy example of this. Every boss has only one or two mechanics that repeat for extreme lengths of time, making them rather tedious and dull. Longer fights are fine, but build phases into them.
  • Trash is pretty silly in some cases as well. If you’re going to go through all the dungeons, and those going forward, balance them like the trash in fractals. Those are pretty well done.
  • Dungeon paths need to be similar in length and difficulty. Citadel of Flame is a pretty good example. Path 1 is short and easy. Path 2 is short and easy if Mag actually does what you want him to (see bullet below). Path 3 is pretty challenging (maybe too challenging. I’m not sure how you do the torch bit and the firetrap sprint gauntlet in a random group with no voice comms) and 2-3 times the length of the other two.
  • The NPCs your group is shackled with are worthless and seem to be the main cause of most of the bugs found in the dungeons. They provide no benefit in combat and actively interfere with some encounters (looking at you, Mag). I really hope the dungeons going forward can remove the NPC interactions. Seriously guys, I killed an Elder Dragon. I got this. You can hang out at the entrance.
  • Long, challenging dungeons are fine (preferable, in my opinion) but need to be more rewarding. Arah’s an easy example. Each path takes anywhere from 1.5 to 4 hours, and yet only rewards the same 60 tokens and has the same terrible chest drops as 20 minute paths like those in Ascalon Catacombs.
  • RNG feels bad, man. I cleared 130 Fractals without seeing any essence drops. Meanwhile, one of the guys I run with regularly, who had a similar clear number, has over a dozen. After the December 3 patch I received two Vials in the first clear I did. Either you fixed something that was broken, or your random loot finally decided to not hate me. Regardless, things like Vials and the Rings, that are essentially required for progression, need to be reasonably guaranteed. Random is fine, but there needs to be some sort of fail safe in place to prevent RNG from actively preventing progression.

I’m sure there is more I’m forgetting. I’ll edit it in if I remember.

Edit:

  • Dungeon entrance event chains. So, these were an neat concept, but don’t actually add anything positive to the experience. When I want to clear Citadel, Crucible, or Arah the last thing I want is to have a 20 minute to an hour plus of event chains just to enter the zone, especially if my party is on a time constraint. If I want to clear Citadel, I don’t want to clear the entrance event in between every path. Good luck running Arah late at night or early in the morning. The zone’s completely deserted. And that’s assuming the events don’t bug out and you can even open the zone. This type of gating mechanic is better left to a one time event similar to what you’ve done for Halloween and Southsun. Having to constantly open the zones up is a serious hindrance to the experience.

101 fractals cleared. Zero Mist Essence. Zero rings. Beginning to think I’m broken somehow.

Topic. Cleared out Path 1 in Ascalon Catacombs, did not receive a cutscene after killing the Howling King, and thus no completion reward. I’ve attached a screenshot of the empty room with the quest step details.

Crafting choice affecting drop rate?

This is a bit obvious, so you may have already looked into it, but if you’ve got Magic Find % gear and your wife does not, it could account for the discrepancy. Could just be random loot being random, though.

Yep. Just got the Experience Survivor monthly achievement on my Mesmer (100,000 without death), still at 0/200,000 for the Lifetime Survivor achievement.

Harathi Hinterlands - Overtuned Coyotes North West of Barricade Camp Waypoint

So, Barricade Camp Waypoint in Harathi Hinterlands, and the areas surrounding it, are scaled to level 37. There is a pack of coyotes just up the path North West of the waypoint that are level 42. These guys move fast, and summon allies, and hit like a truck due to being scaled 5 levels higher than the player. They come in groups of two to three (not including the extras they summon), also due to their level difference from the player. They also occupy a sort of natural choke point within the map – a narrow pathway upward occupied by two to three coyotes, leading up to a small area that is home to six or so more.

These probably need to be tuned down a few levels to be in line with the player’s scaling, or the scaling needs to adjust the player upward a few levels in this area.

Edit: If you pass by the coyote pack at the top of the path a small ways, your character scales up to 41. Looks like an issue of these enemies being placed right along the edge of two largely different scaling areas. Probably just need to adjust their placement or move the scaling thresholds a bit.

I’ve actually been experiencing that in a couple of personal story quest instances. It appears to be specifically linked to killing the Risen Grub enemy type. I had it pop up when killing them during both A Light in the Darkness and Retribution.

Elemental bugs/glitches thread.

A couple issues I’ve noticed while leveling as dagger/dagger.

Lightning Whip (dagger main #1, air attunement): The attack’s range and the animation do not line up correctly. The attack hits at around double the length of the whip’s visual effect. The whip needs to be made longer to match up. Minor cosmetic issue.

Many attacks have issues landing while moving/strafing. These include:

  • Drake’s Breath (dagger main #2, fire attunement)
  • Fire Grab (dagger secondary #5, fire attunement)
  • Cone of Cold (dagger main #2, water attunement)
  • Lightning Whip (dagger main #1, air attunement)
  • Lightning Touch (dagger main #2, air attunement)

This mostly occurs when both the player and target are moving, although I have seen it when only my character was moving and the target was stationary. Also of note, it appears to be mostly related to cone based attacks. Likely latency related?

Sector Zuhl jumping puzzle chest unlootable.

Title. Cleared through Sector Zuhl tonight solo and got to the end to find a [Group Event], which it turns out I was a bad enough dude to solo. Afterwards, the chest off to the side animated as if opening (pretty cool nod to Borderlands, assuming that’s an intentional reference) but unfortunately I could not interact with it and received no loot for my trouble. Not a huge deal, as I found the challenge of soloing the [Group Event] rewarding in itself, but I imagine others will be disappointed.

Day/Night cycle continuity.

So, Tyria seems to have a pretty funky celestial cycle. It’s night in the Grove, and day in Lion’s Arch at the same time. At first I thought perhaps the world is simply a lot bigger than the map makes it appear, and I simply crossed a ‘time zone’ so to speak. Nope. It’s also night in the Black Citadel. And night in Divinity’s Reach. But day again in Queensdale. The sun is a fickle mistress.

Also, I’ve noticed that overflow and the main servers aren’t synced as well. There were many times it would go from day to night, or night to day, within the same zone just by jumping from the overflow to my home server, or between different overflow servers while grouping with friends.

Ultimately it’s a pretty minor issue, but it’s messing with the immersion level a bit.
