The OP’s post isn’t going to make the devs like us. >.>
Changed OP to be not-so-hostile.
Also, this nerf sucks.
Just as a heads up, the Mastery Points for Personal Story are awarded on a per-chapter basis. So once you complete Chapter 1 and earn the Achievement for it, you’ve earned the Mastery Point for Chapter 1. This includes each different starting storyline: I believe the right names are: Graduation Day, For The Legion!, Crime and Punishment, Rising to the Challenge, and Waking from the Nightmare. Similarly, whichever Order you join, there’s just one Mastery Point there.
Hopefully this helps clarify the total number of Mastery Points you should be expecting from your previous accomplishments in Tyria. That said, the different stories really are fantastic, and should definitely be experienced, but for your own pleasure, and not for Mastery Points. If any of you still think you are missing MPs from Achievements you’ve completed, let us know via the in-game Bug Report tool and we’ll try to identify if there’s a bigger issue happening.
This response indicates to me that you do not fully understand that there is a bigger issue happening. I have bug reported it in game, no response. I posted in a thread on here, no response. I have seen at least five or six other threads with multiple responses on here saying people are having the same issue. But, you have not yet actually responded to and acknowledged this problem in a single one of those threads or bug reports.
The problem is this: If you completed the races and orders personal story steps before the launch of HoT, then you will have points awarded — 3 for each race’s complete story, and 5 total for the completed story for all three orders. But if you complete those same story steps today, then you will not get the points, even though the completed step shows up with a mastery point icon.
I don’t think you all actually understand that this means that there are 20 out of 22 possible mastery points in the personal story that currently cannot be earned.
I think you should take a look at the wiki, and take a look at the Hero section of the achievements window in-game on a character that has all story segments completed, and actually count up the points that are shown as supposed to be awarded.
According to all the information we have been given by you, there are supposed to be 3 points for fully completing a racial story (a total of 15 points from playing all races through) and 5 points from doing all the steps of all three orders, up until just before the final two chapters.
Again, look at this page:
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Hero_
This is where I am getting this information from. There are fully 20 points that cannot be earned from the personal story that are indicated as being awarded from all those race stories, starting with “Crime and Punishment” straight on through the order stories all the way to “This Far, No Further.”
Also, I have confirmed with multiple guild mates that people who did these exact same steps before HoT launched did get points awarded for them by the retroactive one-time points catch up thing you did. But anyone who completes these steps after HoT launched is not getting the points. The achievements display with a mastery point icon in-game after they’re completed. We just don’t get the actual points.
And again, as I stated, this has been bug reported multiple times, and there are multiple threads with dozens of people complaining about the same issue. There is a thread right now on the first page of the bug reports forum about it. Search in there and you will find at least half a dozen others on the same topic with multiple reports.
And yet your comment that I quoted here seems to be saying that you all are not even aware that there is a problem. Which may explain why this issue still has not been fixed, or even acknowledged at all, more than a month after this system launched.

I’m pretty sure most devs play the game. I think one issue is communication not only with players (which only seems to go one way: devs reading up on the forums and fansites but not giving much in return) but also between devs and internal development teams.
ArenaNet isn’t a monolithic entity but rather a company made of multiple employees. There are a number of sub-teams who do a variety of different things. I heard a rumor that it’s impossible to finish Nevermore because there’s an event required for it that’s literally no longer in the game. That’s not a communication issue with players but rather a lack of quality check and lack of communication between sub-teams. Whichever team removed said event didn’t seem to tell all the other teams what had happened.
The reduction of visual clutter is likewise isolated. I don’t think it’s something the entirety of Anet is responsible for, and while there are accusations that it’s primarily an “E-Sports” thing I’m going to not base anything on that. Sure, it’s an issue that sometimes you can’t see what’s going on, and somebody mentioned a boss fight earlier. But honestly how often do you need to see individual effects against a boss? Heck you don’t even need to see the other players, culling was helpful (and is helpful, with the options they added) to an extent.
I think the primary issue with the visual effects reduction is that it’s not an option but rather a poorly thought-out mandatory implementation. The largest criticism, and one that I agree with, is that auras are practically invisible. How that helps in PvP I have no clue, but it certainly doesn’t help in PvE. I can get behind the shape – eggs! – but I’d like to be able to see the effects. Checkboxes and/or sliders and/or dropdown menus like with culling would be ideal.
It can take up to 14 days to start receiving World Bonuses. It’s 7 days from the next reset after you transfer.
Good luck.
you have an opinion. So have others.
People can not hide behind it’s just my opinion in every argument, of course we know it’s opinion, can you imagine if everyone just use it’s just my/your opinion in every conversation? Then human conversation would not exist .
On another note, I agree with OP completely, forum always tries to make things look worse than it actually is. If you just read forum and not play the game you would think GW2 is one of the worst game of all time.
Wars against the likes of Zhaitan and Modremoth really tend to dragon.
I used to be an Revenant like you, then I took a pocket raptor in the knee.
also, are they hardcoded to not drop loot?
Indeed, seems the little swines don’t even carry any loot at all.
Stay close to him, he can reflect projektiles, so be aware of this.
After he takes some dmg he will spawn a npc that you have to bring down to 5% and then interact with a rift, then he will become friendly and helps you in the fight.
After every 2 summons, you either have to get to the shield bubble, or jump into one of the upstreams to avoid the AoE attack (the second time he will start to throw rocks at you if you choose the air option). After the AoE is over one part of the arena will disappear.
If you get him to ~10% he will spawn a lot of low health minions, you have to kill them before they reach the rift and then you have to “kill” his break bar.
Thats all to kill him
Some people may need to do the PS again (including myself before anyone starts).. Zhaitan had a weakness and that was how easily his energy supply could be cut off. He was weakened enough that brute force could do the trick.
Would you like some hard cheeze with your sad whine?
Can we now finally get that buildsaving feature or build templates (whatever you like to call it) for PvE and PvP? Please?
Oh noes
I only have 6 left, and was just about to buy some more
What other ways can you get them?
I dont think I would wear the engi t-shirt with a picture of a bomb on it. especially in an airport.

OP, simply put, this is your (rather uninformed) opinion. You can’t demand everyone else comes in here and had the same opinion as you. You are uninformed because seriously this is the first week of raids. People are going to be in there 6 hours because they don’t know what they are doing. When it’s all figured out a raid isn’t going to take more than 2 hours. I’m certain Anet did not design raids to be 6 hours long. I read through some of you other posts and you’re pretty good at catastrophizing everything, in other word blowing the negatives out of proportion. With such a negative viewpoint on everything you’re only going to have a negative experience.
I am not sure why ANET and their developers keep focusing on Hardcore players and their demands for more difficult content and ignore casual players.
As a casual player myself I find this quote to be way off. The vast vast majority of the game is casual and has been simplified so much that you rarely need to use more than auto-attack. The new HoT maps are some the first content that kinda falls into the intermediate category and the new raids may ultimately fall into hardcore (I say may because people might uncover easy/fast ways to complete them).
Even HoT maps become fairly easy once you get a few masteries under your belt and understand what is going on. I personally just run past the vast majority of the mobs because I find them irritating or too slow to fight and that works just fine. This game is extremely casual friendly. There’s no need to complain about one hardcore element.
This will be featured as the all new section inside of the Guild Wars 2 News Application on Google Play.
We hope you keep up your great writing and we will ensure your readership on android has an easy way to read your book!
Keep your eyes peeled for the next version of the application which will contain your book.
Hey, guys, I would really appreciate some positive feedback on my story. I feel like I’m talking to myself in this thread. What did I do right? What can I improve upon?
Thank you.
i like it so far =D
even got friends reading it =)
I noticed Heart of the Mist and Dungeons now play ambient.
If this is a bug, I would like to see dungeons fixed, but I would prefer to keep ambient for Heart of the mists.
Or let us change the playlists ourselves please! :>
Annnd now you can get exactly what you want without sacrificing an item. Win?
The “special” now lies in finding rare skins. You get to keep your stats and runes.
alot of greatswords for asura clip through the ground already, so no thanks
They may some new stuff in HoT. >.> Also, the Carapace Leggings look good for Leon, but hard to get.
Carapace leggings are honestly very easy to get, assuming you have the Living Story S2 episodes available. If not, it may be worth getting, not just for carapace armor, but also for the other rewards you can get from them.
As our allies lie stranded in the Heart of Maguuma Jungle, awaiting our search and rescue, we sit here bickering about Garters.
Our generation is doomed…
This is more of a story issue, but isn’t it kind of weird how our characters never get to do anything cool that requires our unique talents? Thieves never get to steal anything aside from simple pick-pocketing, engies never get to tinker in a workshop, etc. The personal story only takes race into account and not our class. Whenever a class skill is needed, an NPC usually steps in to do the thing, (and to add insult to injury they’re usually better at it than you.)
For example, if you’re a mesmer in the order of whispers, when Tybalt needs to disguise himself as a certain human noble, they bring in some OTHER Mesmer to cast an illusion on him while they send you off to stab things with a sword like some kind of common warrior! If stealth is needed, so what if the pact commander is a thief, bring in the Pale Reavers! While we’re at it, let’s ask this necro to stand here and watch this priest of Grenth to do the job instead! And then for other missions or heart quests and such, you just get bundled weapons like flamethrowers and such so an engineer’s unique equipment is never needed, and so on.
I’m not actually complaining, I like a lot of the story missions and the fact that you sometimes get new bundle equipment and partners to play with to mix things up, but I think it would be really cool if we DID get some class specific missions. Either as a part of the next living story chapter where you got a variable chapter based on your class just like we do with race, or just some optional side-quests that are specific to your character’s class and require their skills. Like an NPC that explicitly says they need a _______ to assist in a task rather than just anyone.
Thieves could get some heist or assassination missions where they could break into places and sneak their way to their target. (Very much like the stealth mission where you play as Caithe, but you get to be yourself)
Necromancers could perform rituals to various ends and prepping for and casting the ritual could be a specific mission. On the other end, perhaps guardians could do exorcisms instead.
Wariors could train troops or lead soldiers on missions.
Engineers could be tasked to repair or pilot some of the pact’s ships and war machines, or mix alchemic potions in a lab.
Mesmers can do spy missions or even something like entertaining a party.
Rangers could go on a hunt for some sort of legendary beasts.
Revenants could act as spirit mediums and travel to the mists to seek out information.
I think you get the idea.
Honestly, these are already somewhat things we do in story missions, but they’re designed in such a way that any class can do any of them. Which is largely a good thing for main story missions, but something designed to require a specific class’s actual skills would be a new kind of challenge to play though, and give people something interesting to experience on multiple alts of different classes.
These missions could perhaps reward class specific equipment that you can use to show off your mastery or dedication to a certain class. Like engineers having a unique gun skin that they “built” themselves by gathering parts on a special engie mission, or thieves having a special jeweled dagger they stole from a vault somewhere, or elementailists having a special focus they summoned through their arcane power in a complex ritual.
I doubt something like this would actually happen since making separate missions for every class would be a lot of work, but I wanted to share the idea and see what others thought of it.
Would support the idea, might be a good way to introduce the mechanics of our new specialisations too.
I like the crown, shoulders, chest and gloves on the male human, don’t really like the legs and boots though.
Female asura looks the best out of all of them in my opinion. Very wedding-like.
Male norn looks alright, but I can’t help but think he looks more dressed for winter, than a wedding.
Would love to see what the asura male looks like with crown instead of whatever it is that’s on his head.
The rest are meh.
Wish I could have that crown on males as a separate helmet skin. My warrior would look very dapper with it.

The female asura looks so precious in that dress…

HoT = WvW players forced to PVE
(edited by Kolisch.4691)
I know and still believe in Anet’s Manifesto, which they still uphold to this day. Sure the game is not without flaws. The continual class balance or imbalance, the choice to grind or play with the odds of the ridiculous RNG, but let us be reminded of the things we no longer have to worry about. (Mind you I been playing MMO’s since 1997)
-Waiting for a Tank or Healer before you can start a Dungeon.
-People inspecting your gear, and basing your effectiveness off it (Gear Score also)
-Going toe to toe as a cloth class against a Mob and not being killed in two hits.
-Camping named mobs for rare drops.
-Retrieving your corpse after dying.
-Corpse Camping in PVP.
-Experience penalty for dying.
-Having to roll/transfer to another server to play with friends/guilds.
-Re rolling because you picked the wrong spec/stats.
-Drowning.
-Only able to play certain classes because of Racial restrictions.
-Kill Stealing
-Ninja Looting
- ! Endless Kill/Fetch Quests
-End Game Epic Raiding Elitism
-Subscription fees/services
-Moving interrupts spells
-Forced to play either “Good” or “Evil” race
-Limited access to areas based off Race/faction/Alignments.
And many, many more.
Sure some of you never had to experience some of the above, or took for granted those mechanics are in not Guild Wars 2, but I never forget. I am not a fan boi, and GW2 is not perfect, but the people behind the game are just like you and I: Gamers. Who want this game to be continually successful for years to come, and to continue to break every mold out there. kudos to them.
