Why is thief getting mentioned in almost all of these posts? Thief is at the bottom of the barrel post patch in pvp and wvw. They are underwhelming in all aspects of the game.
Mesmers are the problem, and their ability to stealth more than thief and attack without being revealed is just silly.
But asking to nerf stealth or give more classes ways to deal with it is not the answer either. What’s next? Should all classes get 2 ways to instantly remove a ranger pet from combat? Or prevent aegis from being applied? Do you listen to yourselves before you just blurt out posts?
If you have a problem with mesmers, go post about mesmers. Don’t try to break a mechanic that would ruin a whole other class altogether. Might as well just rename topic to “please remove thief from game” .
There have been plenty of times where I’d dodged out of an AOE only to find myself in the middle of another one (the cannons during the Mai Trinn fractal come to mind). I would be very sad if we dropped it to one dodge.
pretty much all pve content and probably a lot of player skills (because of wvw) would require a total rework to accommodate this. Even if there were some benefit to it (i don’t see any?) i can’t see it happening
You’re confusing a base line mechanic as a build option, when given how EVERY class uses dodge as their primary defensive strategies. Adventurer classes (Med armor), being decidedly more mobile as mid liners and flankers, make more use of, and have more traits relating to endurance.
If they hurt that base line, the entire combat system would have to redesigned to compensate for it. Given the rough state of PvE mob scaling, and the polar opposite nature of PvP combat being burst oriented, taking away that evasion destroys the staying power of pretty much every single class.
still one of the best hide and seek spots
Random lines:
NPC1 – Do you think it is safe to have a shooting range so close to a tavern.
NPC2 – Sure, we only had one casualty in the last week.

“Do you think cows migrate?”
“What?”
“You know, like birds.”
“Don’t be stupid. There’s no such thing as flying cows!”
“Maybe it was an exotic cow. From someplace far away.”
“Get it through you thick skull, there’s no such thing as flying cows!”
“Hey you hear that? I thought I heard a ‘Moo’ just now.”
“What?! Where?! Incoming!”
“Hahahah! Just kidding.”
“Do that again and I’ll kill you!”
Look, I TOLD you I’m sorry; I didn’t MEAN to set your mother on fire!

You : So… you live there?
Homeless Guy : Yeah, i get an awesome view of the cows
You : You like cows?
Homeless Guy : Yeah, a lot. They smell bad, though.

The sense of entitlement applied to video games is insane. Also, I hate dying. Could we remove that?
Why wouldn’t guns exist in this world? As soon as someone figures out how to make something explode, it’s only a matter of time until they figure out how to make it propel something in a specific direction.
Oh and cat ears would not be anywhere as horrible as theses wings ….
Char slot? What if I want to play a Sylvari?

Sorry, couldn’t resist.
I am here to speak for the silent majority in the game. First off let me give you the profile of the many of never come to the forums but want to enjoy the game.
The average gamer here is not a “Metabattle Warrior”. We cannot nor want to calculate every single damage point and every single stat. We just want our character to look cool and do whatever we want it to do. The average gamer is not part of a gigantic guild with organised leaders who know the game inside out. We rarely even have friends who play to begin with. The average gamer wants to have fun and small challenges to receive a sense of accomplishment together with other gamers. We do not want to be exluded Read 80s Exp Only, fail Get destroyed by tequatl/Evolved Jungle Wurm, became desperate because all methods keep failing Read trying to do AC but dying because of 30 bleeds and cleanses on cooldown, or belittled read people shouting at you on chat and calling you an idiot and blaming each other for failing.
The recent changes have made this all come back again. Challenging group content does not mean turn make people turn against one another. It just means people from RANDOM places who try and coordinate with one another should succeed EG old times teq before condi patch. When the new condi patch came it the world bosses and dungeons were not “too easy” rather, it was made accessible to the average gamer who now had a real chance and completing a milestone together with random people. Case in point was Evolved Jungle Wurm. Random commanders from different clans who only need to be on the same team can lead the wurm. And not only that, we had numbers because the average gamer KNEW they actually had a chance at completing
the wurm.
Going back to my point, the doubling of HP, the defiance during condi damage, the nerfing of power based damage in dugeons was unnecessary. Tequatl fails more times than succeeding which is not what it should be. People lose hope and just not letting the average gamer succeed. Evolved jungle wurm is as hard as ever which is not a good thing as it means the average gamer has once again no chance of successfully completing the event. And the best one, the easiest dungeon has become impossible to do due to higher hp mobs and doubled up bosses. Not to mention getting swarmed by 30+ trash mobs makes the average gamer feel like a world boss with no HP to talk about. The average gamer doesn’t want to die over and over. We want to and like to succeed.
All that being said, I really hope Anet relooks their strategy for balancing the game. There are much better ways to drain gold for the game or make content more challenging. But definitely do not alienate your main demographic i.e. Average Gamers from the equation as these people are what made your game popular and it would be a shame to lose them.
inb4:
Git Gud Nub: I do lead teq and participate in evolved jungle wurm and try and do dungeons daily. I am not the Average gamer. However anyone can see this has gone too far. It even made the game less enjoyable for me which is really saying something
Another complainer: No, this is an analysis and feedback.
Anet screwed up:Yes and No. This is normal and it is up to the community to give them proper feedback. However Anet should also have tested their updates properly. Not with Full ascended full infused gear but rather with normal exotic gear and going with a decent pug. Not to mention the dungeons and fractals were completely left out of the testing for sure.
Get off GW2: I payed for this game and I enjoyed it before. I am going to get my moneys worth. Especially with the new expansion coming out.

Feel free to comment. If an Anet dev could comment too that would be greatly appreciated.
As you know, we’re rolling out a large build tomorrow, including the introduction of the newly-rebuilt Lion’s Arch. Check out this thread if you’d like to know about player-hosted events and what the Anet Team will be up to on this momentous occasion.

Many thanks, Anet.
It’s a pretty clear contradiction. I guess fanboyism is blinding.
So is hatred. The only contradiction would be if they were trying to follow both policies at the same time. What ANet “wanted” in January is in the past. What they want now is in the present.
It should not take genius to figure out that they changed their collective mind. A company changing policy is not shady. It’s just changing policy. Now, they’re acknowledging that the change in policy disadvantaged some consumers and are attempting to redress those issues.
Analyze what’s said before you criticize next time.
Right now, there is a lot of stress running around in-game in anticipation of the Tuesday patch. A lot of people aren’t playing until then to try out the changes while others are irked that their favorite build will be drastically changing (for better or worse).
Tuesday will be what is literally the largest balance patch in the game’s history. People are antsy about the numbers of changes coming.
My advice: Tune it out for a few days. Try again Tuesday afternoon or so. It may change quite a bit once people are able to start actually doing something new in the game again.
I’ve been using a Custom Play List for quite a while, and by having a short blank track at the top of my lists it has generally allowed most of the playlists to play random song selections when I play. I know a few of the playlists never randomized correctly, like the menu screen, but most of the other ones worked before, or at least seemed to.
But recently I added some more music to my playlist right beneath that blank track in the m3u file, and it is playing every time I log into Lion’s Arch. Each track, in order, without fail, no randomization. Each m3u has about 20 different songs in it, so statistically I should be hearing something else other than the first few songs as I log in and check my various parked characters.
Is anyone else getting non-random custom music everywhere now? What changed and when?
Tl;DR: Custom music still works, isn’t randomized anymore, why not?
The short silent track no longer randomizes my playlists, which did change recently. So I hear the same songs, in the same order, every time I log in. I’m not sure if this also broke the night time lists or not.
And that has been happening at least 2 weeks, if not longer.
21s – solo – in combat
19s – solo – in combat with 10% faster res trait
7s(almost 8 ) – solo – out of combat, faster res trait doesn’t seem to do anything out of combatIt seems longer when in the thick of things, but even I was surprised at how little time it actually takes.
However, I don’t recommend taking a rez trait except in boss battles that always include a lot of death, and also have a long trip back from a waypoint. The other trait you have to give up is probably worth far more to the overall combat process.
We should also time how much the time compresses to have more than one rezzer. I suspect it’s a wash, but that requires proof. Hopefully having 3 rezzers takes exactly 1/3 the time. But, it might not, and it’s not easy to test.
21s for 1 person solo to rez someone in combat means the person dead now has to at least do 45 – 50 seconds of full damage to compensate for the damage loss ALONE.
That is not considering:
- the increased danger of getting the ressurector killed
- the ressurection getting interupted due to having to evade attacks (effectively increasing the time it takes to rez someone while not doing damage)
- the fact that the player who died might have subpar gear and/or skill making him a less valuable addition to the group
- not taking into account different damage boss phases or periodic boss immunity timers
- the fact that if the dead person waypointed none of these things would be an issue (effectively making waypointing out until the below the optimum amount of players are undercut the better solution)
I’ve been thinking, and I’ll go one step further:
If waypointing really does cause the boss fight to go more easily, then that’s an exploit bug that needs to be fixed. The devs clearly consider waypointing out to be cheating, (they removed the ability to do so in dungeons for that very reason).
The game rewards players for reviving and rezzing other players. Why would they allow a cheesy exploit if they clearly want to point people to the opposite action?
If it operated this way, they should do the same thing they did in dungeons: no waypointing when combat is still occurring.
By the way, that video needs to be done again, this time leaving the dead player in the combat area (i.e. not waypointing). Only if the boss’s HP stay higher (longer than in the current video) would it be valid as an argument against my position. And, even then, it just drops back to the time-to-run vs. time-to-rez equation, which has already been shown to favor rezzing your comrades.
No, it has not been shown in favor of rezzing your comrades. On the contrary.
No rezzing in dungeons to prevent death running content has nothing to do with open world content. Stop strawmaning.
Using a game mechanic is not an exploit. Making boss fights impossible once to many people have died is not fun game design. Stop mixing and matching things that have nothing to do with the issue at hand in futile attempts to somehow make your argument stick.

Again proves that dead players scale events up. We can keep talking in circles. All i see is 1 person wanting the game to work in one way completely ignoring how ingame rules and mechanics work. Will ressurecting dead players be viable? Sure if anet change how the system works. Is it viable now? NO!!!!

Yeah, but I’ve been playing GW2 for YEARS. Since 2012 or 2013. I’ve been doing world bosses for over a year now and this is the first time it’s happened. :/ Though, I have noticed my fan is not keeping my computer cool. Could that be a problem?
Also, I’ve heard about a memory leak problem going around? Is that still an issue?
Lack of cooling is known to be a cause for diminished performance and crashes. Cleaning the inside of the PC may help, but it might also be you simply need new (or extra) fans. Or a video card with it’s own fan.
As long as you are not in a Rush, you can pretty much stay in tune with what is happening.
I see what you did there.
Played in my laptop with the technical preview and not any problem.
