Unless you make it a habit to consistently AFK the majority of a major event that you have to choose to show up to, you don’t need to worry about it if the worst you’ve done is taken an extended bathroom break.

Much ado about nothing.

These are wise words. Unless that bathroom break is 45 minutes. At that point, I would worry more about what you’ve been eating, than any in-game punishments handed down.

In GW2, Trading Post plays you!

It isn’t a bias against humanity. Seriously Nicholas give it a rest.
None of the other races are a bastion of trade – so neither should Divinity’s Reach be.

Please go read the novel Sea of Sorrows, I feel like it may enlighten you a little more.

The Lionguard’s role had been replaced by the White Mantle in GW1, so they hadn’t been the protectors of Kryta in a LONG time – yes they watched over the city, but they weren’t it’s primary caretakers.

The Shining Blade defeated the White Mantle and they took over the role that the White Mantle had – and the Liongaurd had before them. It makes sense. Just seriously, go read Sea of Sorrows – Lions Arch (as it is in GW2) was FOUNDED by a human.

What you consistently percieve as a bias against humans is NOT that at all. They have put all of the races on an even playing field. They all have their own strengths and weaknesses. I’ve seen you argue that Kryta doesn’t hold power over a lot of land anymore – but look at the Asura who only have Metrica Province, or the Sylvari who only have Caledon Forest. There is no bias against humanity, there is simply not a FOCUS on them. But there isn’t a focus on any singular race because there can’t be in order for the game to be as inclusive as possible.

You are the one with a human bias.

As for the commander thing, Can someone explain to me why the tag is Character bound and not account bound. Its about the skill of the commander, not the character. Also, anyone can buy a tag. It should be sold for gold and badges of honor. Thats my opinion anyways. Im just wondering if anyone heard of them making the tag account bound and other things we can spend badges on in the future

Thanks!

[PvX] My blasts prioritize my combo fields

in Profession Balance

Posted by: scerevisiae.1972

scerevisiae.1972

Just allow us to blast them all, when several fields are in the same location.

This. Able to blast up to 3 fields (of different types) at once, but with a diminishing returns system:

if #fields > 1, each field effect duration is decreased by 20%, cumulative, so:

  • most recent field – 80% usual duration
  • 2nd most recent – 64%
  • 3rd – 51%

and/or…

Fields can interact, to form new fields, eg:

  • fire + water field = steam field (cures conditions and grants regen)
  • ethereal + dark field = void field (convert boons -> conditions)
  • ethereal + light field = celestial field (convert conditions -> boons)
    etc

Obviously wouldn’t need to be exhaustive.

Guys, no one wants to take away you super-dps toy (aka zerker gear).
All anyone wants is to take away your reason to scorn anyone who would rather play with a different toy.
Because having only one gear/build choice be really viable in the eyes of pretty much everyone (thus inducing scorn for people who favour a different build and playstyle) is just plain boring.
I really doubt that zerker gear is suddenly going to become useless – balancing a game is, after all, all about balancing the proficiency of different choices, thereby favouring an increase in viability and usefulness of other stat combos and playstyles.

Summoned creature AI is a different can of worms that we aren’t opening for the same reason. Pets that delay F2 use isn’t some wait script we put into their skills it has to do with core AI behavior shared by all pets and creatures and how they decide tasks. Rewriting that has the risks of breaking millions of unknown things so we have up until now band aided the solution. It is something that needs addressing but won’t be addressed until we can kitten how and when we will test it.

As a former AAA PC game developer, I am mystified by the above.

My frost drake’s underwater F2 is instant, but the dry land F2 has a several-second delay — that makes no sense whatsoever. Underwater, I press F2, and the button works immediately; on dry land, clicking F2 does nothing initially, for 2-3 seconds.

Why the difference?

Since you asked so nicely. The underwater skill is an instant skill which doesn’t not require the AI to change it’s think state, as it can fire off during other actions. The land skill plumbs into our animation system which requires the drake to change it think state and execute a new order to the animation system. Both AI think state and animation can’t be running 100% of the time on every creature on the server for obvious reasons (it would create massive CPU usage and generate tons of skill lag) Animations are masked by client side blending, but the AI stuff has no way to be masked. We can make special cases for Ranger Pet F2, but doing so requires time and testing.

Can someone put this in layman’s terms?

Due to poor programming concepts pets have to actually contact the server and effectively ask for permission to run their F2 ability if any animations are involved in the ability. They then have to wait for the server to respond before they actually pull off the maneuver.

Being ignorant about how an online game must function does not make for good laymans terms. If we did not validate skill use on the server players could hack their clients to use skills without cooldown. I don’t think a lot of players would enjoy that.

That’s true, but the way your describing it doesn’t make any sense either. F2 should be an automatic block. It doesn’t matter what the pet is doing or trying to do. It should not need to reference some list, or work it’s way through a decision tree. As soon as the system sees F2 it should wipe the out whatever the pet was about to do, or what it planned to do next and immediately interpose it with the F2 command.

Just like when I’m in the middle of any action that isn’t a leap and I hit dodge. The system doesn’t have to figure out if I should finish doing what I was doing, or what animations to do, it stops everything and throws me in the proper direction running the dodge animation.

That’s how Pets should work. This also “should” not effect anything else because only Ranger pets even have an F2 to interpose it. It’s not like a Scale is suddenly going to have an F2 go off and interrupt its regen vomit, there is no F2 to go off.

Maybe it would be a tough change to throw this in now, but that’s why I said poor programming, this is something that should have been done as soon as F2 for Pets became a thing. The fact that it has never been addressed in any way is a poor programming decision.

Right but we are not going to get into the nitty gritty of server programming and how a giant online game needs to send packets back and forth to a multitude of clients and how it needs to handle dropped packets, and how it needs to handle different kinds of server hops, and how it needs to prioritize what it send/receive when the client bandwidth is overloaded. Let’s please leave any technical discussions out of this. This is a design discussion on potential ranger changes and I think if you look at the overall performance/uptime/etc of our server structure with or without some actual expertise you would have a hard time arguing that Guild Wars 2 is not one of the most technically sound massive online games to date.

Nerfed Champ Bags/Boxes ?

Behellagh.1468

Really? Why did you nerf the gold drop???

Because we can’t have nice things.

They throw us a bone by making champs more worthwhile, someone figures out how it can become the next big money making activity since speed running CoF and now they have to take most of it away because it caused some very unsportsman like behavior in a starting zone.

When within five posts of a newbie asking what should they be doing is “Champ Train”, the behavior of players is broken. The game is suppose to be about exploring and helping but it keeps devolving into extremely limited activities because players have been weened in other MMOs to believe that only through acquisition of items (via wealth here) via grind is where an MMO shines.

But we aren’t suppose to be a bunch of sword sells looking for the best pay just because some armor catches our eye.

We are heroes. This is what we do!

It works with Point Blank Shot already. Not sure about Concussive, will have to test, but I think effect applies only to first target.
Personally, I’d move Piercing Arrows trait to adept in skirmishing.
Another step should be mixing it with current bleed-on-crit trait, making it similar to Necromancer’s adept Soul Reaping trait, which allows L. Blast to pierce and inflict vunerability. This way, we clean up one Master Major slot for MM.

Oh, I’ve got a ton of them. Good? Bad? I’ll leave that for you to decide. Lean back and enjoy.

My love for you is like a concave up function because it is always increasing.

I wish I was your derivative so I could lie tangent to your curves.

I’d like to plug my solution into your equation.

Since distance equals velocity times time, let’s let velocity and time approach infinity, because I want to go all the way with you.

I don’t know if you’re in my range, but I’d sure like to take you back to my domain.

I’ll take you to your limit if you show me your end behavior.

Being without you is like being a metric space in which exists a cauchy sequence that does not converge.

You are the solution to my homogeneous system of linear equations.

I heard you’re good at algebra – Could you replace my X without asking Y?

Let me integrate our curves so that I can increase our volume.

If I were a function you would be my asymptote – I always tend towards you.

Your beauty cannot be spanned by a finite basis of vectors.

You’ve got more curves than a triple integral.

You’re sin^2x and I’m cos^2x, and together we make one.

Why don’t you be the numerator and I be the denominator and both of us reduce to simplest form?

You must be the square root of -1 because you can’t be real.

How about you come to my place tonight, so I can show you the growth of my natural log?

How about I perform a sort on your variables, and you can analyse my performance?

You are one well-defined function.

Why can’t love be a one to one function? Then our relationship could be injective.

I would really like to bisect your angle.

Meeting you is like a switch to polar coordinates: complex and imaginary things are given a magnitude and a direction.

Whoops, I think my binomials just expanded.

I’m overheating because you’re stuck in my head like an infinite loop.

At absolute zero, you would still move me.

Why don’t we measure the coefficient of static friction between me and you?

My vector has a really large magnitude. Would you care to normalize it?

Your beauty defies real and complex analysis.

This post may contain a high concentration of sarcasm and irony.

Last Train for Ranger class

in Ranger

Posted by: Serraphin Storm.2369

Serraphin Storm.2369

There is no doubt that the ranger is a hard class to play. There are lots of ranger who have a great deal of success with this class and prefer it over any other class.

The difference between the rangers that have the greatest success with this class and the ones who do not is that the one who have the greatest success play the class that is before them. Not the class the hope the ranger to be. They adapt.

To build a good ranger it take more fine tuning. It takes better reaction times. As a ranger you are required to make less mistakes. As a warrior or Guardian you are permitted to eat so of the biggest attacks in the game and just shake it off. Thieves, Ele and Mesmers can disengage from a fight at will and it take very little skill to do so.

Necro and eng just need 10 second and your dead from condtion overload.

As a decent ranger skill level is above the average player. Some rangers can escape at will. The spirited build was nerf because when a ranger is on even ground he kicks kitten . Yes the build was a bit passive but no more than they other classes.

To Play a Ranger you must improve you must adapt you must have a deep desire to over come and never say die.

This isn’t for everyone, but no class is for everyone nor should they be. I play a ranger because its not OP because it’s not easy mode.

Are the issue with the ranger. Yes. I wish my pet scaled with my gear. I wish my pet followed closer to my side. I wish we had more aoe besides axes and traps (barrage does count and piecing isn’t enough (maybe a traited bouncing arrow instead) Pet die but if they die to often then its mostly the rangers fault. Anything that will down a player will kill a pet.

The Ranger core is strong. Rangers learn your strengths over come your weakness then go back build and develop more strengths. To do this you have to over come your fear. I myself am always testing myself. While I like my sword I always have a ranged backup but starting today I will go sword/x and GS. I will develop the skills to effectively run these set in all aspects of the game (exept when I’m farming nothing beats axes). I will run this until I’m satisfied with my performance. Until I’m one of those rangers that almost never die.

The 3 issue I mention are what I feel are the biggest issue outside of them I am happy with the Ranger class. I do not desire a stow option because I know what this class was when I created my ranger.

You get out of this class what you put into it.

In order to properly understand the big picture,
everyone should fear becoming mentally clouded and obsessed with one small section of truth.

After a quick self-diagnosis it dawned in me – why do I get so upset about a video game? …because I LOVE this game!

I’m going to hope that this is just another poor example of totally overblown hyperbole, and that this really doesn’t need to become a discussion about why it’s completely inappropriate and unhealthy to love an electronic game [after a year, and often, even longer than several years]. For the time being, I’m also going to ignore that sickening comparison of feeling held towards a game with feelings held for a spouse; considering spouses are people who can return affections, enhance each other’s lifestyle, and sacrifice for each other when needed; while a game like this blindly tries to distribute ‘entertainment’ to a whole mass of people while giving benefits to it’s creators, which is a dual motive of selfishness on both sides.

But if you actually believe that a person should/could love a game, then I will suggest you read some literature about “behavioral addiction” and how it only induces shallow feelings of attraction towards objects, and not the deeper feelings that we are only capable of holding towards living beings [or higher principles]. It’s offensive enough that you’ve already tried to convince people that what they are experiencing resembles “love”, when you have not even bothered to become aware of what others are experiencing.
