I agrre with TS. And i hate when people write walls of text, so sorry from the brginning for that. First time i got kitten ed of totally by Devs choice.

Anet u screwed totally, with match-ups andkittenACHIVMENTS…i don’t have an idea how u can fix it.

But the problem is not only on my server, it’s eveywhere. Wins those server who can bring more wvw players on borderlands or battlegrounds but not that is really better.

I whant to play with and against expirienced wvw players on WVW. If it was like 70% of regular wvw players and 30% those kittenheads it would be OK, but they just enetring it first time and staying there for hours without any understanding of how wvw works.

If u will have 2/5 players in your party in hard dungeon without expirience u will suffer from it by making it longer or totally failing. For wvw it doesn’t make it longer it makes it first: less fun second: u loose faster.

I know that each server it’s not only regular wvw players, but why the kitten u needed to add those kitteny achivments on start of the league and hardest match-ups in EU? Or u don’t know that at least 70% of players it’s brainless achivment hunters that don’t whanna have fun, they whant that kittening achiment points, that means totally NOTHING! That means they playing games for those numbers in the list but not to have a good time.

Make another achivment – “I was a kitten for my server on WVW” – 5000 AP, maybe that way they can succed faster in AP hunting and go away from the gameplay type that they don’t like.

Could u implement it 2 months earlier? So people could actually learn how to play it and if they liked it they stayed and started to cooperate wisely, but no u need causal players to try FIRST TIME WvW ON THEkittenleague.

Please put more recoures in WvW then u have now, cause this gameplay type got HUGE potential.

heres the problem with all these threads,

you guys want WvW to fail.

The truth is the more people who get involved with and who enjoy WvW, the better it really will get, the better it will be supported.

you guys are just mad because you had your own little corner and no one cared, so you had it to yourself, now, its being improved, and has become more rewarding so others are getting involved.

Why would Anet put time and effort into solving things like lag with many players and skill delay, if there is never a lot of people fighting? Why would they dedicate large amounts of resources to new maps, if they are doing it for a mode only 5% of the playerbase plays? Why would they continue if players who used to WvW 2 hours are slowly cutting their time to 10 minutes, and maybe an hour on weekends?

the truth is the more people who play and are interested in WvW, the better it will be, and the stronger future it has.

You guys want your apartment to be crappy and in a crime infested neighborhood so that no one comes there and rent is cheap, that type of thinking leads to you getting evicted when they close the building.

Instead of telling Anet to make WvW less appealing, tell them to make more maps, and new content. If anet sees that all servers generally can support more people, they are going to build in more new areas/expand etc. Try to think about more than just how long your queue was for the opening weekend of the biggest deal in Wvw since launch, and more about how to get even more players so that you will have a better game

More players != better W3

The lag issue has always been there. The culling removal helped some, but they never really fixed it. Flooding the servers with endless players does little to help that when there are already queues on a daily basis.

As for lower tier servers, do you really want players there that are just interested in the achievements? I would think you’d want PvPers that want to compete, not just checkmark off a list.

As for you first point, you couldn’t be farther from the truth. Most of us like W3 because it’s competition and teamwork driven, and not about the PvE meta. We don’t want it to fail, I don’t know why you think that. Perhaps because of the whining going on right now?

The backlash is directed at the inclusion of the achievements themselves, not necessarily at the players in general. We see it as an attempt by ANet to try and push PvE content into a game-mode that shouldn’t have it. They figured out long ago that if you dangle endless carrots in front gamers, a lot of them will crave it…regardless of what the carrots are. That kind of mentality is counter to everything that makes W3 great. So simply throwing carrots into the mix doesn’t make it better, it just makes it worse because it doesn’t address the root issues at all.

Honestly, sometimes I don’t know if they play W3 all that much, or understand the community there.

I would love to be able to save / load up my favorite build setups.

I have different build setups for different situations. Each time I go to pve or pvp, I have to switch out my traits, skills and gear to match my new setup, and I do this a lot.

It would be really cool if we could have a tool much like that we had back in Guild Wars where we could save a build and load it up later. Even if all it saved was my traits that would be fine, but ideally it would be AWESOME if the tool would save my traits, skills and current gear that is equipped.

For a few weeks now I have been so close to 100% map completion and all I have left are three Vistas and one Point of interest which are located in Eternal Battlegrounds. Its been hard to try and get these since my server have not captured the area I needed in order for me to get them and its taken a few weeks for my server to get the bottom left side of the map with the wvw resets. My server finally got the area that I needed for me to collect the vistas and poi however I am now stuck waiting in the queue which I have been in for around 30 – 45 mins. So I was thinking how about having a queue position number when waiting to join a borderlands.

E.G – You are 5th in line until you enter the borderlands.

I suggest making it visible for players what is the size of queue on particular WvW map and what is their place in it.

I think it would give us information on how long probably will we be standing in queue (whether we have time for fast dung or not). seeing how the queues change we could also say if people tend to leave this map or it’s popularity grows which would further inform us if its worth to go there or not.

Simple tags would I guess do the trick:
-no queue
-183 players in queue
-you are 18 in 45 player queue

If you think that a 30% easier draw in a competitive season is a good thing then I take it you’re WvWing for chests, finishers and AP?

The match-ups were decided by Anet. Not JQ. JQ shouldn’t feel their effort was tarnished because of something beyond their control.

Don’t expect you to understand that.

I don’t remember BG or SoR complaining when they threw matches to get a better match-up the last time Anet made changes to WvW.

But this is the forums where everyone plays the victim.

Of course, you don’t expect me to “understand that”. But lets put your expectations and comprehension of my argument up against what I’ve posted in this thread:

In this season, BG and SOR play other top-half servers 6 times, JQ 4 times. That’s a 30% easier draw for the top server. JQ could split games against BG/SoR and still come out on top by dint of their assured wins against the lower half.

Of course, this isn’t JQ’s fault. It’s the hand they were dealt.

I’ve bolded the relevant bit to aid your reading.

This ties into what I’ve actually argued for and you’ve argued against. That JQ should be arguing on this forum for a redraw to make an even playing field. So, I think you’re wrong in your saying that “JQ shouldn’t feel their effort was tarnished because of something beyond their control.”

Of course they should. If you win a competition in which your competitors were starting 2 wins behind you then you should have the honesty and insight to admit that the win was not a pure one.

And I’d argue that the draw isn’t “out of their control”. If JQ posters, such as yourself, cared about competitive WvW then you’d be on here asking for a redraw, asking for the win to be put back into your control. Regardless of the result, you then can claim that you tried.

I’ve said in this thread that JQ can win S1 on its merits, I find it puzzling that JQ posters don’t appear to believe the same.

Sorry but if either BG or SoR had some perceived advantage they wouldn’t be posting that Anet needs to redo the new league.

They would be saying suck it up and deal with it.

Hands down, after over a year in live play, I have no idea how a company like this can allow this to go on for so long.

This is flat out unplayable. For over 5 minutes I had a fight in a 3v3 and we spent the entire 5 minutes singing 1’s from out keyboard cause that is all it allows. On top of that the skill lag is NOT effecting both parties at the same time. Repeatedly I have ran into groups that use entire combos flawlessly while I, and my other guildies, are forced to resort to spamming 1s or SITTING there for 15 seconds just to start a heal.

Hands down this is unplayable in any way, shape, or form. And if you all complain about how it only effects some of you, or to get a better computer?!?! Remember it is all about location, location, location. You are closer to a server access point or closer to a server hub—so please just shut the hell up and move along.

For the rest of us that are not this lucky… and to those that say adapt…. it is not an issue of map location either. The ENTIRE map is like this. It is physically unplayable.

For first you get skill lag.
For second you get movement lag.
For third you get chat lag.
For the rest you get salvaging and selling lag. No need to mention the trading post. Then you start seeing game characters disappearing for moments.
Finally your client either gets diconnected or crashed.

Ok so I understand there is going to be lag from time to time. There will be skill lag everynow and then. Especially in a big Zerg v Zerg. but there is something really wrong now. I get worse skill lag then I ever had and there is no one around me. no zerg nothing. this started to happen before this league non sense. Anet needs to check their servers!!!!!

They more than likely don’t have the time, resources, and possibly finances to fix the lag issue because if they had any of the above such an obvious problem would’ve been long since fixed as the fact it is a problem has been officially acknowledged.

Do what other MMO’s do, minimize calculations needed for combat, in other words dumb it down.

Problem with Anet’s engine is it carries a ton of variables. Look at the AH and peruse over the huge selection of runes and sigils for one. Every one of those sets have triggers, get hit for this pct causes this, You hit for this much triggers this. Now factor in a mass of players with their own traits, runes, sigils, food buffs, dodge rolling in a mass pile and the server has to keep up with all those calculations and send it back to the player in real time? lol is my only response to that, it’s pretty obvious why the server has difficulty keeping up.

OK yanno what, I may as well say it.

I suppose I’m kind of a PvE-er. I usually pop on for a dungeon now and then, and do my dailies all the time. The season is actually the first time I was in WvW in MONTHS.

But yanno what else? I’m not a scrub. Sure I haven’t played in ages, but I DID play before. I joined in the fight, I helped on EB, and after I got the four JPs I went out and went back to doing the same thing I did way back in those days.

Watching camps and escorting yaks with speed buffs.

Because SOMEBODY has to make sure those supplies get to the keep quickly and those camps actually upgrade.

And SOMEBODY has to alert when a small squad is taking the green camp. May as well be the Staff Guardian who feels useless in the zerg and not too useful against towers and keeps unless I’m on a ram or a cata.

Now stop taking the camp’s supply when it’s at 99/100. We need to improve the supply deliveries.

It’s not the PvEers that bug people, it’s those PvEers that do. They’re the types that run their PvE commander tags alongside the WvW commanders that actually WvW’d before that very day, so there’s a whole glob of commander tags at the same location.

It’s the types that run with a zerg that see one lone thief and decide to all run off after it.

It’s the types that act belligerent and wonder why they (or anyone else) should follow a commander at all. After all, they’re just there for easy achievements.

In short, it’s not the PvEers that people dislike. It’s the people who would be unpleasant in any format, but since they’re now present in WvW in such large quantities, are easily picked out, and aren’t afraid of expressing their opinions about those folks that don’t understand how much more lucrative PvE farming is, well, they sort of all get clumped together.

In short, it’s not the new players, it’s the dolts who are too ignorant to know how little they know and the fact that they don’t care to learn. After all, in two or three weeks, they’ll be back to farming for ascended crap or whatever Anet adds next on the gear treadmill (presumably, ascended armor).

As someone who is a big fan of customization I like this idea but at the same time I don’t. I feel it would spawn a whole new era of troll builds that would make the game a lot less enjoyable for those of us who like to PvP. However, something I think they SHOULD look in to relating to this freedom of choice subject is allowing all classes to wear all types of armor. I get that some classes are light, medium or heavy and why, but what if we want to make a tanky caster or a nimble warrior? Although I’m sure the latter would be a lot less common I’d bet it’d still be done from time to time. Or, if that idea isn’t viable… At least let all classes able to transmute their gears appearance regardless of their vocation. eg. If I were a Guardian and wanted the light class style of the Twilight Arbor, I wouldn’t be able to WEAR that gear, but I would be able to transmute my current gear with it’s appearance.

Yeah, I think gw1 had the right idea with their dual class system. I think I like the skills there more than here also as far as what can be done. Ofc the animations are tons better here.

Shadow stepping eles and monks. Necrotic warriors. Conditions made sense there. E-denial, enchantments…boons, everything just made more sense there and seemed very tactical.

I guess the game I really want to play is GW1 with GW2 mobile combat and persistent world complete with energy and healers. Even the dungeons/missions told a better story there. One day someone will make that game.

1) Viability of multiple characters
I dislike the word “alt”, since that implies a “main”. I don’t prefer any of my characters. But due to timegating and astronomical costs of ascended crafts, it’ll take forever to equip 8 chars. Combined with the fact that char-based rewards are continued to be moved to account-based rewards, while char-based costs are continuously increasing, this game is currently very unfriendly towards people with multiple characters.

2) Difficulty versus Rewards
The most profitable gaming activities are often mindless zerg farms. Highlevel fractals, difficult jumping puzzles (clock tower reward nerf? wtk?) and others aren’t as rewarding.
There’s also an imbalance in zerging (both PvE and WvW), in that the most loot goes to the person who manages to “tag” the most enemies, which is a flawed way of measuring contribution.

3) Living story – existing lore vs. new chapters?
There’s plenty of dragons left to write stories about. There’s enough lore that can be explored and elaborated on. What about that other sylvari tree? What are we doing about Faolin, Kudu et al?
Instead, we’re seeing new groups and villains being pulled out of a hat.

I cant participate in WvW and do something good for my server because my free spot is occupied be useless, achievement farming kittens.
Arena net you should… no, you MUST introduce leagues only after that overflow border land will be ready.

Thats sensless, how am I and other wvw oriented players suppose to support their servers when the game just dont give them a chance to do it?

My friend tried to enter to any border land for 18 hours stright (!).
You let to random people take places of potential high ranked players and commanders with voice chat.

You introduced WvW leagues but didnt managed this thing, not cool AN, not cool at all.

yeah us people on stacked servers who had in average a minute wait to play on the map we wanted to be on and no wait on at least one map now have hours long ques. You can’t tell me this is from wvw guilds only. A bulk of this is from pve people who want the achievements and most likely will not do wvw after they get them. In the mean time the people who do wvw daily get to sit around in wait. Not the best way to reward dedication.

I am floored that you have a crystal ball and can see the future of what players will do when they get done with the achievments. While I must admit if on your server it is the same attitude towards them that is on the forums it is highly likely they will never come back, it isn’t because they were destined to not like WvW, it’s because of the way they are treated while there.

Honestly, who would really want to voluntarily pay their hard earned gold to fight and possibly die, or to buy seige or to get a commander tag, or whatever when the type of community they are playing for treats them like this when they are the first forays into it.

It’s astonishing honestly.

Take a step back and think of the first time you ventured into something as big as this and remember how it felt. Maybe it wasn’t GW2, but there was a time that was your first. Was it overwhelming? Was there things you needed to learn? Did someone help you? Did they show you how to do things to help? I’m pretty certain you didn’t pop out knowing exactly how to do all this, and giving a little consideration and guidance goes a lot farther than vile, venom, and vinegar.

I’m on a server with no queues. You can transfer to a server with no queues as well.

What about those players that actually give a kitten about their community and built is from the ground up over the course of a year? Like SoR? Telling people to transfer so they can play the game mode that was the REASON WE BOUGHT THIS GAME IN THE FIRST PLACE is not a valid argument.

Honestly, we all paid for the game, and we all have a right to be in any “legal” area of it and play it how we want as long as we don’t break the terms of service.

Yes, there are queues, and yes there is frustration, but you, and those of the mind apparently similar to yours are incorrect in thinking that anyone isn’t of the right to play any section of the game, just because they hadn’t been there before, or because of what they might be hunting for (achievements, world completion, wvw kills, etc.)

If this were the case PvErs could tell you to get out of the pve side because you are farming their mobs for the precursors, or any other things.

I have actually seen a post in a different thread saying that the poster wanted a gem store option to automatically kick and ban any pver in wvw. Honestly, how elitist and obnoxious can you get? If what you want is coverage, you have coverage if you have a queue. Now it is up to you and your allies to teach them to do it so it is successful for all involved. Instead of cussing them and slamming them, educate them so they might become as awesome as you are convinced you are (I don’t know if you are or not, because I don’t know who you are or what server you are on.)

And besides that, if you waited 18 hours, sounds to me like you constantly changed what queue you were in, and therefore constantly stayed at the back. When I queue up on Gold League T1 server, if I leave it be and go farm in Orr, or something similar, it pops for me usually in 20-30 minutes. If you constantly change which queue you are in, then it will never pop.

All these posts complaining and whining about the queues that honestly, everyone has to deal with, and we were dealing with before the leagues happened as well is getting terrible old.

I love how many are saying JQ should be in here kittening about the schedule, and I have to say I think we would be if we hadn’t been double fisted this entire week- If you guys had put on an actual fight instead of 2v1 the whole time, JQ probably wouldn’t be irked half as much at the current match up, and be more willing to come in and say hey, let’s change this. As it stands, I think we just want to watch you bash heads against one another for a bit.

JQ is currently guaranteed – at the very minimum – a second place finish. SoR, BG and TC are fighting for the other spots and SoS and Mag are battling for last and second last spot in the league. That’s not an ideal situation in a competition.

This is correct, but it highlights how meaningless the entire system is and why this complaint is so puerile. Ultimately the “competition” revolves primarily about time-zone coverage and being able to queue every map 24/7. The “competition” aspect of this is utterly devoid of meaning, so it would be much better to focus on having fun, interesting fights and letting the chips fall where they may than caterwauling about schedule discrepancies making it more difficult for certain servers to get their golden buffalo finishing move. Just focus on having fun and don’t worry about the ranking, it’s totally pointless.

I’m just trolling your whining server mates. Why? Because I can’t hear it anymore. You always complain. You stack your server and win against SoR and JQ your server fills the forums with “BEASTGATE” and stuff. If you don’t win you start a whine parade against the server who beat you “It’s so unfair, you stacked your [NA/OCX/SEA/EU]” and start a big crowd funding campaign while blaming SoR or JQ for overstacking.
Maybe you should start muting those players. I don’t call names, because you know them yourself.
It’s a game, all T1 servers are stacked, there is no superlative of stacked. The majority of JQ wants good fights and we didn’t make that schedule nor do we like it. So please don’t blame us.

Wow, so many BG players already sharing their feelings with the world? Maybe you could open up a facebook group – my name proposal would be “All this money for being 3rd”.
I’d prefer fighting BG and SoR every week as I did when BG was the fotm. Yeah, we have a stupid schedule, but most of don’t care if we are 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 4th, we played even after BG and SoR absorbed some of our NA and OCX guild and as we were the only T1 server without any EU presence.
It’s not our fault when you joined BG for getting #1 easy and now you have to work for it.

The disparity between T1 and T2 is not something that could have been balanced without forceful intervention from ANet or the playerbase. The disparity between the T1 servers themselves, in the form of scheduling, IS something that could have been done. Or I should say, done correctly.

You are missing my point. Though you are still making a solid point of your own, in that there is a disparity between T1 and T2 – but I don’t know what to tell you. I wish Gold League was just the top three. But it isn’t. The real competition is between the T1 servers. Surprise! But to see even /that/ competition basically ruined because of the poor scheduling is the point. The only fair competition that /could/ have been for Gold League.

It does not matter that you wanted the Gold League to be the top 3 servers, it is in fact the top six. So when you consider the issues surrounding Gold league the bigger issue is the disparity between T1 and T2, not the matching disparity you are QQing about.

You are preemptively QQing because JQ might win a gold dolyak finisher because of poor matching while my server was excited because when they logged on in the morning they still had objectives. Do you have any idea how silly your point is to the rest of us?

The point is that the leagues could have been more interesting than this, more fairly balanced. When one server, regardless of who that is – is given a significant advantage, it takes lot of the allure of what ANet what was trying to do with leagues, away.

So the limitation in this league being interesting, fairly balanced, without a server having significant advantage over another is JQ’s ‘easy’ schedule, not the fact that a 6 server bracket has three servers that are considered ‘easy’ and not really part of the competition?

I would think SoR and BG would want to save schedule whining for towards the end, as a sort of back up excuse, not burn it right out of the gate! No sense of timing.

I’d rather not have that many easy weeks, because it’s boring. But given I’ve thought this whole WvW league thing was stupid to start with, especially since the non-T1 servers have virtually nothing to look forward to, I can’t get too worked up about it either. At least TC/SoS/Mag get a break from us for two of the weeks, I guess.

My main issues with conditions are:
- They are not properly counted towards event participation. Pop a signet of fire on an enemy and take 50% of their with burning, and you may not get exp at all from it when someone comes along and deals a finishing blow.
And if an enemy has already many stacks of a condition, or its max duration, yours many not be counted.
They should be counted properly.

- Objects are simply immune to them.
Damaging conditions should be turned into a generic ‘erosion/degradation/corrosion/whatchamacallit’ condition on objects, or simply make them as any other creature, allowing certain conditions on them:
→ “Burning” on any object that looks like it could burn.
→ “Acid” when using poison on anything that could be affected by acid.
→ “Degradation/Erosion/Etc” for any object when using bleeding.
→ Vulnerability should work on them too.

- They do not trigger the Weapon Master achievements, making even harder to get kills counted for certain offhand weapons, and forcing you to stick with those weapons and change your style of playing to deal finishing blows of very little damage. That or go to a place filled with critters and grind the title pointlessly.
Achievements may be something secondary, but they should encourage playing the game to get them, not doing weird, grindy things.
How these achievements are counted should change so doing them it’s natural, without forcing you to change how you play too much. With one or more changes like these:

  • Properly count deaths generated by that weapon, including pushing the enemy into environmental damage, conditions, and summoned creatures like illusions. To put it simply, if they die right after being target of one of your skills or under one of your conditions or effects generated by that weapon(including being target of one of your illusions or shattering illusions made by that weapon), that weapon should get the kill.
  • Give all off-hand only skills some damage, even if it’s just a little, so at least they can be used on critters.
  • Rework some of the off-hand only skills to be better finishers.
  • Make it so no weapon is offhand-only, by giving them to some professions as main hand weapons (their prices would also get balanced, of course).
    • Shield – Engineer. With skills inspired by Tron’s disks and Captain America.
    • Horn – Engineer. With sound-engineering based skills, with names like “Up To Eleven”,.
    • Torch – Elementalist. With skills with names like Obsidian Flame, Rodgort’s Invocation, Mark of Rodgort, Flame Djinn’s Haste, Rust, Storm Djinn’s Haste and Crystal wave.
    • Torch – Thief. For main hand and offhand. They have acrobatics, why not throwing some juggling with torches in there? The dual Torch-torch skill would be a juggle and all.
    • Focus – It’s really hard to come up with one theme for these since they can have practically any shape. But it should be done still. Maybe mostly PBAoE skills and direct hit skills, no projectiles.
  • Or just simply change those achievements to could any kill done while the the weapon equipped, even if it wasn’t directly caused by any of the skills from that weapon.

PAY—ONCE—UNLOCKS—ARE—ALWAYS—BETTER.

If it was only the longer queues, it wouldn’t be a big issue. It’s the achievements given out for doing random things. W3 is based around map cooperation, timing, siege and resource management, voice comms, etc. Not to mention group play and skill interaction. A lot of times things that seem insignificant, like going out of your way for a minute to kill a yak when you’re watching a tower, have dire consequences. They may seem trivial to some, but added up it can mean the difference between holding and losing your BL.

Well, if you look at added achievments, they are not game breaking. They make players kill doylaks / guards, take keeps / ruins / castles etc – all those things (maybe apart from the jumping puzzle ones) can be done only by actively participating in W3 – be it as a part of the zerg, lone roaming etc.

I was never a W3 fan, but with those achievments I started doing it and I find this aspect of the game really fun. I try to help as much as I can, not just “leech” achievs with zerg.

Obviously there are going to be people whose main and only goal are achievs, who will not cooperate, but I think they are minority.

Overall, I see much more pros than cons of that decision, however I can see how it can frustrate hardcore WvWers with time queues and incompetent new ppl.

I think alot of the problem is, WvW is a very different beast than PvE, the WvW players need to be more patient and helpful in this aspect. Many of us have been playing WvW exclusively for a year now and forget that its still new to some. On the flip side of that argument some (not all) of the PvE players need to realize that not everything is an insult, we may make suggestion about what gear would be more beneficial, what skills/builds will work better for you, why you shouldn’t take that golem at the spawn point for a stroll around the map ect ect.

There’s going to be those ppl in WvW that are not very nice, just as there’s those ppl in PvE that share the same attitude. Think of how many players have been chastised for joining a dungeon group and kicked/belittled for not knowing the fight or showing up in Tank gear vs. Zerker, its the same idea. Your going to get those players that don’t kick you right away and explain the fights and your going to get the players that have no time for you and cuss you out before booting you.

I think the biggest problem is the fact they were put in the living story tab. Its like they wanted to get more people interested in WvW that normally only PvE or PvP. This is understandable but its killing the T1 servers and making queue times ridiculously long.
