Thorn - A full-length GW2 novel
Turrets were heavily nerfed this patch. Their life is the same as before (apparently turrets don’t count for the 71% increase in minion health, but ranger spirits do).
- Overcharged rifle turret now inflicts ONE stack of vulnerability instead of bleeding the target. If you were a condition build before then this is a definite nerf.
- Rocket turret no longer inflicts burning (40-60% damage nerf, but closer to 80% if you were a condition build).
- Overcharging the rocket turret immediately after it shoots a normal round causes it to lock down and not fire until it cools off.
- The rocket turret tool belt skill was turned into a slow-moving arcing projectile which takes roughly 5 seconds to hit its target at max range. I.e. it’s useless unless your target is stationary. It also hits the roof in dungeons, making it useless in many rooms. It also no longer works underwater AT ALL.
- Hitting multiple targets with AoE will cause the new turret AI to break. Your turret will now spend time slowly turning between targets instead of shooting if you’re hitting more than one foe.
So yes. They are much weaker now. Just when I thought they couldn’t possibly ruin turrets any more, they actually managed to do it (and snuck in a massive rocket turret damage nerf without mentioning it in the patch notes). I’m convinced that some angsty dev has been playing a joke on engineers, as these turrets have actually never been in a usable state since BETA. There has not been even a single build where they worked properly, and instead of fixing bugs they just managed to introduce another one in this patch as well. It’s not even a case of being underpowered. They’re just horribly broken and not a single one works as advertised. I’ve seen better support from private MMO servers…

We need to talk. There are no two-ways about this. This trait system looks like something designed at the last minute, and it has plagued the entirety of the game and is largely responsible for the berserker-required META we’re all used to seeing/complaining about.
I’ve started a thread on the subreddit here; http://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/1o3sz2/calling_attention_to_bunk_traits/
I’ve got my own idea for how to re-work the trait system, but pretty much anything other than what we have at this point is good. Links for information on my concept below.

People asked for build templates and this is arenanets solution to it! To charge the players real money or spend hours to grind gold to buy the gems to be able to change your build once? Right! They can go kitten themselves
I don’t see how the convenience is worth the price for any boss fight or dungeon.
People on the forums have been asking for the option to save multiple builds. So they can change their build for free in selected areas throughout the game world. To one that they saved because they who it works.
Not a item that is changes your once for a expensive price. And then the player might make a mistake and waste their item.
Dont forget to use that tree dude from the personal story as tinder for the fire.

Nah bro get ready for the never ending serial return of Saturday Morning Scarlet.
That is the best description of her that I’ve read so far.
Nah bro get ready for the never ending serial return of Saturday Morning Scarlet.
This is probably the most accurate depiction of what the player base will be subjected to.
If you look at how permament her being an antagonist is coming… seriously it looks like she is going to get more plot immunity than even Zhaitan could dream of.
Mad King holds a torch burning event, the thing you burn is Scarlet tied to a pole, no need for hay or wood even! Just light the torch and watch her scream. The more she screams the more the Mad King laughs!

The only thing truly wrong with the path (besides being too long time-wise for the reward) is the tetris puzzle thing with the electrified floor. The hologram you have to lure to the door almost always aggros on the wrong person and it takes way longer than it should to finish simply due to bad AI.
Solution for Anet: stop making encounters that rely on the NPC ai to work, or enemy mob ai to work. since your ai sucks, it makes any ai reliant encounter inherently frustrating.

I would seriously consider leaving if the trinity was introduced. With GW2 you can play any class, and as long as you’re geared properly and know how to play you can pretty much be as useful as anyone else.
The problem is, bads don’t want to create their own (proper!! not heal cleric guard, that does nothing!) roles in group content, they want them made for them.
As haviz loves to put it, this game is ruled by metrics. Metrics say that most people use kitten gear, testers use kitten gear, which means, content is created/tailored for kitten groups. Ergo, the introduction of the trinity to this game would be an actual improvement no matter how much you hate the trinity (I don’t really like it either). Because it would enforce a straitjacket on that incredibly horrifying community, it would make the content better for it by not having to take into account the kind of group you can see in the TA livestream, or what we saw when they did the molten facility full livestream etc.
But this game will never have the trinity anyway. It would be a major overhaul, so big that you wouldn’t even recognize the game. There isn’t even a concept of single target heals in this game or serious aggro management.
This is the type of group the content is balanced around. Terrifying isn’t —-_ it?

Hello folks, I’m here with suggestion about skins.
Issue:
Guild Wars 2 is giving players alot of new skins on updates but at this point it seems like alot of that potential is going to waste as most of player-base is only collecting one set of skins per character because of the current skin system.
There are many people who would like to collect different looking armor sets (skins) but the current Transmutation-system is blocking it as it combines two items’ stat/skin/upgrade -components into one item (making you lose 3 out of 6 components) and consumes one Transmutation Stone or Crystal.
How to solve:
What I like to see is Dye Mode -type of feature in the game, called “Skin Mode”. So how Skin Mode works is you consume one Transmutation Crystal to save item’s skin and then you have it forever in your “Skin List”. Skin List is used to swap between “learned” skins on the fly for free (like how you do with Dyes) as long as you’re out of combat.
- Transmutation Stones could work on saving up skins that are on lvl 1-79 items (as Crystals are for lvl 80 stuff) or just re-make it so you can pick handful of Transmutation Stones and throw them into the Mystic Forge to create one Crystal.
- Items that are already “Skins” (ex. Wings of the Sunless) would work exactly like Dyes: Double-click to “learn”.
I could really see this working as a viable feature in Guild Wars 2 as it gives players a reason to play through the content to max out their collection of skins!

So there was that big protest a while back in LA regarding Charr armor being pretty ess-ache-eye-tee, has there been any mention of that from the devs since then?
I’ve noticed the 2 sets which came out post protest all look terrible on Charr, ravaged by the standard issues (tail clipping, floating shoulders, terrible stretching, making a member of a gruff warrior race look like a poncey butler, etc)…
So given that those sets were probably already finished and set aside (clutching at straws here) what’s the forecast for our future attire? Hope to be had or we still have no idea?
P.S. Queen’s Gauntlet is fun as fug though ANet (Ha, look at me pretending someone actually reads this… mfw optimism…)

Great job!
My favorite part is when you open the level 80 boss chest and see all blues and greens.

Wow this tread just went metaphyscial
I mean really. If she was an illusion cast by Anise’s mind. Jennah would exist inside the mesmer mind. And this character idea would’ve made his way out from the mind of her owner into the real world.
Don’t our ideas and imaginations exist inside our minds?
Is a character’s existence less valuable than a real person’s just because it doesn’t have an obvious physical manifestation?
Even though most characters make it out from their creator minds to paper and may reside on other minds as well. And even if they don’t make it into paper. They are part of the synapse and the chemical reactions on the brain of the creator and/or the reader.
See the thirteenth floor
Now I ask. Even if she wasn’t made of flesh, bone and sinew.
Would that made her less existent?
Aren’t we characters that have completely taken over our bodies? Don’t the schizophrenic people have their bodies taken by multiple characters? Is any of them less existent than the other? Don’t we change the our character as we grow up and become more mature?
I ask again. What is existence?

….
(I haven’t played much of GW1, but why does it sound so much better than the sequel in many ways?)
GW1 was a masterpiece – and compared to this GW2 is a nice try… So I hope they are already working on GW3!
You’re right in your complaints OP.
Unfortunately a vast majority of the personal story was filler content. The converging paths needed to blend together, seamlessly or not. What you’re seeing with the magically-disappearing-warband thing is one of the largest seams in the converging plots.
As with all things, don’t expect Arenanet to patch it.
As with all things Charr, expect Arenanet to say “we won’t fix it because nobody plays [the poorly implemented race] in the first place”
I have to assume that anyone who thought they would be the main characters didn’t play Guild Wars 1. The player has never been the main character, ever. You are just some guy who happens to also be there, even though you’re actually the one doing all the work.
Destiny’s Edge and Trahearn are the main characters. I will admit that everything about Trahearn is a little nonsensical, he’s a researcher, he has no place being the leader of the Pact, but it is what it is. Destiny’s Edge couldn’t do it cause they’re always busy getting lost in dungeons all over the place. That and they don’t actually make up with each other until you’re already well into Orr, so it’s too late to recruit them.
Also, every single person you connected with in any meaningful way, who survived, through your personal story returns just before the end. They all have something to say relevant to your experience together, and it’s just a good time as they all help you defeat the final obstacle between you and Zaitan.
In Guild Wars 1 there also wasn’t such thing as “MY” story, or being “THE” hero. You were an elite soldier that would swing the favour of the battle.
In Prophecies you effectively start out as a soldier in training, literally. Never is it said you are the hero. You then do what any good soldier does and follow your commander, then your commander gets killed and you’re sort of wondering ‘now what’. The rest of the game your worth is proven by the fact that EVERYONE wants to have you on their side, the White Mantle, the Shining Blade and even the villain want you on their side because of what an awesome force you are, capable of changing the course of events. Plus the Crystal Desert part is entirely about you.
In Factions you are the star student fresh from the academy travelling with his master to find and eradicate a threat to the Empire. This is important because a part of the drive for Canthan characters to do what they do is partly explained by patriotism and loyalty to the Emperor.
In Nightfall you are finally declared a hero from the start, and from the start it becomes apparent: You are the one telling Koss who to attack and Tahlkora who to heal and how. And after Kormir goes under all major negotiations with Vabbi / centaur / undead lord / forgotten keepers officials happens by you. This is the reason people (rightly so) feel cheated at the ending hen Kormir becomes a god. I’m not saying the player should have attained godhood, oh no, but that having such a useless (from 1/4th of the game onwards) person suddenly leap up and become a shining star did feel like a slap in the face.
In Guild Wars 2 your character is potentially a Norn who accepts a plant’s authority because ???
The only interaction I would like to see between these two involves the Mad King, his favorite choice of salad dressing, and Sporkcalibur.
Twilight Sparkle?
Considering who they have as her VA. We had a pretty good laugh about it, so I thought I’d share.
Wow. You just went there…
